Another glitch in script using Style Groups

Hello,
Everythig was going fine till it started to get complex. I was hoping to adapt a script for cleaning up multiple character styles so that it would work with character styles in a style group, but I get an undefined variable error. Not quite sure how to get round this. It fails on line 3 of the below (this has been simplified for clarity). I'm obviously missing something in terms of defining the Style Group properly as a variable (I get the error "undefined is not an object"). What have I missed?
var CharStyle = app.activeDocument.characterStyleGroups.item(STYLE GROUP NAME').characterStyles.item['STYLE 1', 'STYLE 2', 'STYLE 3'];
var myFind = ['(?<=\\w)\\s(?!.)', '(?<=.)[,;:\\.]\\s?(?!.)', '(?<!.)\\s(?=.+)', '(?<!.)[\\s,;:\\.](?!.)'];
for (var i = 0; i < CharStyle.length; i++){
app.findGrepPreferences.appliedCharacterStyle = CharStyle[i];
    for (var k = 0; k < myFind.length; k++){
    app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = myFind[k];
    var f = app.activeDocument.findGrep();
        for (var j = 0; j < f.length; j++){
        f[j].appliedCharacterStyle = myDoc.allCharacterStyles[0];
        f[j].fillColor = f[j].appliedParagraphStyle.fillColor;

Hi I have figured it out on my own just today coz what apple suggested didn't help much so I just have to do it by myself.
This is what you need to do:
open your computer and search for autoplay, it will open rightaway and then scroll down look for your device then change "ask everything" to "import photos and videos in windows" connect your ipad again then tthe import box will open.. and your good!
i hope this will help you. Good luck! :-)

  • FindChangeByList script to include Style Groups/sub Style Groups

    I've been using this function happily (with varying degrees of success & lots of trial and error) for a while now. I'm not a script writer, understand very little but manage to copy and paste, and hope for the best.
    This has served my wishes for the most part, but I have the need to apply a GREP search/replace to some text that needs to be styled with a paragraph style that lives inside a style group, inside another style group.
    Style group called 'Headings', inside which is a style group called 'News from Areas heads' inside which is a paragraph style called 'b head_red (News from areas)'
    I have picked up on helpful examples from others for applying a paragraph style that lives within one level of "Style Group", but don't know what the correct syntax to describe: a paragraph style within a folder, within a folder, within another folder might be?
    I did wonder if the choice of underscores and brackets in the paragraph style may not help.

    Hi Jarek
    Unfortunately I don't have much scripting knowledge, but to answer your questions
    1. paraStyle real name is "b head_red (News from areas)"
        - "b head_red" is used elsewhere. Why didn't I keep it simple?
    2. Do your findWhat string work in UI (run manually)?
        - yes, when I use normal GREP find/change it works okay.
    3. Do your FindChangeByList.jsx work with some simplier example?
        - yes, I use it often. The .txt file I'm working on at the moment already contains about 10 text/glyph changes which work fine. I have had success in applying a 'paragraph style' that is within a 'style group'. But this is the first time I've tried to apply a 'paragraph style' that is in a 'style group', within a 'style group'.

  • How do I handle Style Groups in InDesign Scripting?

    Hi,
    I am relatively new to InDesign scripting.
    I'm trying to map Paragraph Styles to CSS, and it seemed to be working fine, till I came across Style Groups -
    Styles belonging to a group are identified as - Root Style Group name : Child style group name : ...... : Style name
    Because of this paragraph style  <Style name> was not mapping to the TOC style <Root Style Group name : Child style group name : ...... : Style name> and my TOC styles were not correctly mapping.
    I wrote a fix for this in my app, by fetching parent groups and appending to a string - which i check in the TOC style entries.
    Before calling this a FIX, I need to confirm if there are any more hierarchies/represnetations that could be used to represent a Paragraph Style as a TOC style? I don't want to see that a week later I discover something like <Style : Nested paragraph style> as a TOC style and then I'd have to fix my fix!
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    If YourPara is a paragraph style in myDoc and defined inside group of styles named myStGroup
    you can refer to it using:
    myDoc.paragraphStyleGroups.item("myStGroup").paragraphStyles.item("YourPara");

  • FindChangeByList script question, re: when a style is part of a style group

    Hi,
    I'm using InDesign's FindChangeByList script and am running into a problem.
    Here is the problem line:
    grep {findWhat:"^."} {appliedParagraphStyle:app.activeDocument.paragraphStyleGroups.item("Text").paragraphStyles.item("Body2.TextIndent"), changeConditionsMode:1919250519} {includeLockedStoriesForFind:false, includeLockedLayersForFind:false, includeHiddenLayers:false, includeMasterPages:false, includeFootnotes:true} //Change everything to Text.indent2 style
    What I am trying to do is format every paragraph with the style called "Body2.TextIndent" which is located in my style sheets under a group called "Text"
    This line is not working for me; I get a JavaScript  "Error #17. Error string: variable name expected."
    Please note that I CAN get this line to work just fine if I use a style that is NOT in a group. For instance, this line works fine for me:
    grep {findWhat:"^."} {appliedParagraphStyle:"Body2.TextIndent", changeConditionsMode:1919250519} {includeLockedStoriesForFind:false, includeLockedLayersForFind:false, includeHiddenLayers:false, includeMasterPages:false, includeFootnotes:true} //Change everything to Text.indent2 style
    The problem is apparently that the FindChangeByList script doesn't like style groups. I found this by Googling the internet and found this link:
    http://www.listsearch.com/indesign/Thread/index.lasso?17986
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

    Kasyan, it works for me now! THANKS! One thing... I notice that in your line, you removed the part "changeConditionsMode:1919250519". Maybe that was the problem? I'm new to scripting. What does that line do? Can I leave it out?

  • Assign a local logon script using Group Policy

    Is there a way to assign a local logon script using Group Policy? The reason I ask is that I wrote a logon/logoff script that will record the date/time, user, and computer for everyone who logs on to any machine in the domain. Right now it's set on a domain
    GPO, so it works great for domain accounts, but I'd like to extend that functionality to local accounts as well. The only way I know how to do that would be to set my script to run using the local policy. Since I don't want to manually go around to all 400+
    machines in my domain, I would rather find a simpler way of modifying the local policy. Any ideas?

    Martin, thank you for your response. That's exactly the kind of out-of-the-box answer I was looking for, unfortunately, it looks like I can only do that for Logon scripts. I don't see an option for Logoff. (Maybe the took the Logoff functionality out?
    This article says there should be a Logoff item in the GPO, but they're talking about Windows 2000 in that article.)
    Matthias, I started playing around with what you said, and I noticed that the "Scripts" key only seems to show up on my Windows 7 clients. The XP workstations don't have that key. Plus I did some testing, and I think I can do it without having
    to mess with the registry at all.
    So I think I have a workable solution at the moment. I found
    this article that talks about copying Local Polices from one computer to another. I tried manually setting the Logon/Logoff scripts in the Local policy on a fresh machine. From that reference computer I copied the Scripts folder out of the %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\GroupPolicy\User
    directory. It also created a gpt.ini file in the %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\GroupPolicy directory. The gpt.ini file contained an attribute called gPCUserExtensionNames, and one called Version. The gPCUserExtensionNames attribute specified two GUIDs, which
    I assumed to be the GUIDs that identify the Local Policy. I tried manually creating the Local policy on several different machines, with several different Operating Systems, and those GUIDs always seemed to be the same (not sure why). So I copied the gpt.ini
    file off the reference machine as well. When I placed all of the files I copied from the reference machine on to a new machine, everything seemed to work just fine (no registry modification necessary), with one caveat. It seemed to be running the script twice.
    So I went back into the gpt.ini file and deleted one of the GUIDs listed under gPCUserExtensionNames, and now the script runs just once!
    So I think this solution will work ok for me. We don't have any other Local Policies in place, so demolishing all existing Local Policies is perfectly acceptable in my case. I'm just not sure if I'm doing any damage by copying the gpt.ini file from a reference
    machine (if anyone can expand on how that works, I would appreciate the peace of mind that I'm not making things worse by doing this). So all I need now is to write a Startup script, or an SCCM package to deliver the Logon scripts and associated ini files
    to the appropriate location on all the domain PCs. Easy enough to do on my own. If anyone knows of a reason why this method is a bad idea, please post here. I'll be testing it out on a handful of PCs in the mean time.
    Hi Guys,
    Will this solution work for my case? I have a forcereboot batch script that I need to load on the local policy (logoff script through GPEDIT) however I can only load it manually. I need to do it on multiple machines (approx 5000 computers). I am having
    trouble doing it using powershell. Is there any other options to do it?
    Will I have to use the same GUID's you mentioned on the gpt.ini file? (gPCUserExtensionNames=[{42B5FAAE-6536-11D2-AE5A-0000F87571E3}{40B66650-4972-11D1-A7CA-0000F87571E3}] since it refers to the local script and how about the version on the gpt.ini file?
    Thanks in advance.

  • [JS InDesign CS3] Style groups, begone! (or: How do I take paragraph and character styles out of style groups?)

    Sorry for this question (and my terrible English, by the way), I'm a javascript noob and I know when I've reached my limits.
    Well, I'm trying to take a set of paragraph and character styles out of the style groups they are placed in, in hundreds of InDesign documents (that cannot be treated as a book). As far as I've tried (thanks to the invaluable help of previous posts in this forum) I've been able to move a style into a group and change it's position inside the group, inside the root level or even between groups. But it doesn't matter how I try, I don't know which move reference should I try in case I want to take every style out of their style group and place them after their original group folder, at the [Root] style level .
    I have tried:
    var doc=app.activeDocument;
    var pGroups=doc.paragraphStyleGroups;
    for (i=pGroups.length-1; i>=0; i--){
         var pStylesInGroup=pGroups[i].paragraphStyles;
         for (j=pStylesInGroup.length-1; j>=0; j--){
    // Here I am, trying to move a style outside the folder that contains it, and failing miserably.
              pStylesInGroup[j].move (LocationOptions.after, pGroups[i]);
    It didn't work, the script sent an invalid parameter value in the reference field, so I cant use the group folder itself as reference.
    Tried other (obviously wrong) solutions, like use the first available style as reference. Therefore, my second script was
    var doc=app.activeDocument;
    var pStyles=doc.allParagraphStyles;
    var pGroups=doc.paragraphStyleGroups;
    for (i=pGroups.length-1; i>=0; i--){
         var pStylesInGroup=pGroups[i].paragraphStyles;
         for (j=pStylesInGroup.length-1; j>=0; j--){
    // Now I try placing the styles after the [Basic Paragraph], that is, the second paragraph style in the document style list
              pStylesInGroup[j].move (LocationOptions.after, pStyles[1]);
    It didn't work either, another invalid parameter in the reference field. Similar results with my other attempts (I even tried "[Root]" as literal with similar luck).
    So, my question is: Which command (or script, in case my whole approach is utterly wrong) should I use to achieve my goal?
    Thanks in advance to whoever decides to spend more than a minute thinking about my humble worries, and my apologies for shamelessly ripping some of your lines of code for my purposes.

    Okay, tried a few things and got really weird results!
    1. You can move a style around inside its group.
    2. You can move a style out of a group "to" another, but it will appear 'inside' that style. I got my test style as a sub-item of [Basic Paragraph], using index #1. With index #0 ([No Paragraph Style]) InDesign crashed.
    3. You can duplicate the style, but then you get a copy in the same group. Still no luck.
    4. Finally! What is the parent of a paragraph style?
    Document | Application | ParagraphStyleGroup
    "Application" is easy -- that's when you make a style global. So what's the difference between 'Document' and 'paragraphStyleGroup'? Simple -- well, when you finally get it...
    pStylesInGroup[j].move (LocationOptions.AT_END, doc);
    moves the style out of the group and to the end of the list in the document. I don't think it's possible to move it directly to a specific position into the main style list -- you first have to move it out of a group, then move it around in its own list.
    Fortunately, it returns its new position as a ParagraphStyle again, so if needed, you can use
    newStyle = pStylesInGroup[j].move (LocationOptions.AT_END, doc);
    newStyle.move (LocationOptions.AFTER, pStyles[1]);
    -- I didn't really try that out, but it should work.

  • Questions about using Styles Window for formatting a book in Apple Works.

    Help says "You can create your own styles in any document type." Not clear on how to do that.
    I wish to have one Style or group of Styles associated with one document of say 500 pages for a book. Each chapter Heading. as a single column layout, is separated by Section Breaks from previous and following text in 2 column layout.
    Question 1. How do I make Styles window settings (Edit/Done) specific for this entire document? Can I edit settings in Styles window and have them remain specific and locked to this particular document? Or are the Styles window settings constant across all documents?
    Question 2. (If Styles window settings are not specific and locked to this document) Do I need to make a NEW Style for each purpose within the document, as in Book Heading, Book Subheading, Book Body, Book special paragraph style, and etc.
    Question 3. When importing multiple sections of the work (by copy and paste) from other AW documents how can I have the imported text follow the book’s Style settings (and vice versa how to keep tab settings that are specific in some areas). Sometimes the imported work refuses to conform to the Book document’s style say line spacing for instance.
    Thank you

    iBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.8) AppleWorks 6.2.9

    Hi Hilary,
    I haven't used styles enough to give definitive answers to your questions, but I'm sure others will join in and correct any errors in what follows.
    A "Style" is essentially a set of paragraph level format settings that can be collectively applied to a paragraph or contiguous set of paragraphs as a set, rather than having to apply each attribute individually. Once a style is applied to various parts of a document, changes made to the style specification will apply to every part of the document to which that style has been applied.
    AppleWorks also includes two other types of Styles—Outline styles (Diamond, Harvard and Legal), used to identify hierarchical levels of paragraphs, and Table styles, used to format tables.
    Question 1: From the Help article "Using Styles":
    You can copy the collection of all the styles available in a document and make them available in another document. This is called exporting and importing a stylesheet.
    I read this as saying that styles you create are specific to the document in which they are created, but may be exported to other documents. "Other documents" would includes documents saved as templates, which could be used to create the various sections of a book.
    Question 2:
    As the set of styles is specific to the document it is created in (or into which it is imported), you can probably leave "Book " off the names of the styles (but may decide that leaving it on makes it easier to know what the styles are for). You will need to use an existing style or create a new one for each purpose within the document.
    Question 3:
    Copy copies the text AND formatting of the selected material.
    Paste pastes the text AND formatting of the selected material.
    Paste also inserts the pasted material into the target document at the insertion point. All of the pasted material goes into the same Section. If the pasted material includes a section break, then a new section will be created in the target document.
    If you export the set of styles from the master document and apply them to the parts of the source document before transferring the material to the master document, I suspect the formatting will be carried over.
    Another possibility is to leave the source document with no formatting at all beyond paragraph breaks, and to apply the formatting (styles) after transferring the text.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • ACS 5.3 Authorization problem with using Identity Groups in Access Policy Rule

    Hello guys, I am found a problem which I can't solve regarding authorization with using Identity Groups in Access Policy rule.
    ACS version: 5.3.0.40.6 (internal build B.839)
    I have very simple RADIUS Authorization rule which authorize user on behalf of right Identity Group.
    Requested Identity Group exist
    Testing user is created in Internal Users and has assigned requested Identity Group
    Radius Access Policy:
    Authentication against Identity Store Sequence, where authorization server is external RSA SecurID device and additional attributes retrieval is configured from Internal Users.
    Authorization is very simple – One Rule with only one Condition which is: Identity Group - in - Requested_Testing_Rule. Then Default rule is set to Deny.
    When I will try login with my testing user then authentication against RSA SecurID is OK, but authorization will be denied by Default rule – It looks like my Rule with Identity Group is totally omitted.
    I am managing several other ACS servers (version 5.3 but with older patches) where similar rules are working without problem.
    What I am tested:
    Remove testing user and create his account again.
    Rename Identity Group
    Use another Identity Group
    Remove Access Policy rule and create it again
    Use Compound Condition: System:Identity Group
    Use Compound Condition: System:UserID instead of Identity Group in Rule (it is working without problem)
    Do you have any idea where problem can be?

    OK guys, it started working yesterday without any configuration change. Maybe it was some database inconsistence wich was solved by ACS itself.

    There was no error's in my lync 2013 front end and back end server's and every thing was fine, yesterday I installed windows updated AND CU for my lync 2013  front end and backend server's .
    later on after restarting both the front end and the back end server's i start having hundred's of  these error's related to "LS Call Park Service".
    so any advice for these issue ? and what is the effect for these error .
    below is the error I got .

    Hello
    thanks Holger for u r replay .
    due to the Microsoft article about the cu :
    I run only :
    Install-CsDatabase -ConfiguredDatabases -SqlServerFqdn FEBE.FQDN -Verbose
    Note In a coexistence environment that contains both Lync Server 2010 and Lync Server 2013 and in which the Central Management Service is located on a Lync Server 2010 pool, do not run the
    Install-CsDatabase -CentralManagementDatabase command. If you later move the Central Management Service to a Lync Server 2013 pool, you have to run the
    Install-CsDatabase -CentralManagementDatabase command to apply the changes.
    here is what I get on my power shell after i run the command : "WARNING: Warning: Failed to execute batch --"

  • Executing a UNIX shell script using SM49

    I have been trying all sorts of things to get this to work and I have been un-successful
    I am trying to run the UNIX script using SM49. the command line that I am using is
    /test/directory/bin/testmail.sh
    the script testmail.sh looks like
    #!/bin/ksh
    /usr/bin/mailx -s testmail <email address>
    I have tried all sorts of combinations to run this script
    example
    sh /test/directory/bin/testmail.sh
    /test/directory/bin/testmail.sh %f
    /test/directory/bin/testmail.sh %F
    does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this to run successfully. once I get this to run successfully in SM49, I am going to try it in the intregration builder of my PI process.

    Hi,
    considering authorization issues, you can use
    CALL FUNCTION 'SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE'
        EXPORTING
          commandname                         = 'LIST_DB2DUMP'
          additional_parameters               = l_path
         operatingsystem                      = 'UNIX'
        TABLES
          exec_protocol                       = lt_btcxpm
        EXCEPTIONS
    to extract information about files on the server
    I used this code to get detailed information for display including the attributes
    LOOP AT lt_btcxpm ASSIGNING <btcxpm>
        WHERE length > 57
          AND ( NOT message+57 CO '. '
                OR  message+57 = '..' )
          AND ( message(1) = 'd' OR
                message(1) = 'l' OR
                message(1) = '-' ).
        l_srvfil-type  = <btcxpm>-message(1).
        IF l_srvfil-type  = '-'.
          l_srvfil-type = 'F'.
        ENDIF." l_srvfil-type  = '-'.
        TRANSLATE l_srvfil-type TO UPPER CASE.               "#EC TRANSLANG
        l_srvfil-file  = <btcxpm>-message+57.
        CONDENSE l_srvfil-file.
        l_srvfil-attri = <btcxpm>-message+1(9).
    *    l_srvfil-time = <btcxpm>-message+44(12).
        l_srvfil-size = <btcxpm>-message+32(11).
        APPEND l_srvfil TO lt_srvfil.
      ENDLOOP." at lt_BTCXPM assigning <BTCXPM>.
      pt_srvfil = lt_srvfil.
    For the srvfil information I used this structure
    BEGIN OF typ_srvfil,
      %_box  TYPE flag,                                         "#EC *
      type   TYPE char01,
      attri  TYPE isp_rel,
      file   TYPE file,
      name   TYPE file,
      size   TYPE sytleng,
      owner  TYPE sy-uname,
      mod_date TYPE sydatum,
      mod_time TYPE syuzeit,
      END OF typ_srvfil,
    I do not remember exactly how the attribute information is resolved. In Unix all file system authorizations can be set as for the user, the group or for all and it can be read, write, execute granted. If you are no unix expert, ask one or google/wiki for some details.
    I wrote a program for navigation, display, and some more functions on the file system which is too big to post here and is not fully system-independent. Not perfect but useful and more than 5 years old. Contact me by mail if you want it.

  • Help on scripts used in bpc

    Hi All,
    Hope you can help me in know
    where to find some help doc's on scripts used in BPC and coding in SSIS packeges.
    And does BPC internally convert scripts to SQL script or MDX?
    And can i use both SQL and MDX in single logic file?
    Any help will be greatly appriceated

    The BPC logic engine converts the "SQL-style" script logic syntax into true SQL, that's executed against the data in the fact tables.
    MDX script logic is executed against the Analysis Services cubes; I don't believe that much conversion is involved here, but honestly I'm not an MDX expert, so I could be mistaken.
    You can mix both in a single logic file, subject to a clear understanding of how *COMMIT and XDIM_Member, etc. work to scope a particular block of code. The BPC Admin guide (also in the online admin help) is the key reference guide for this.
    But the most important piece of advice I can give is, don't write MDX logic. Only use it (as sparingly as possible) for raios (division) in member formulas, where you need to evaluate a formula at various points in the hierarchy (not just at base members). For everything else, use business rules or SQL logic.

  • Anyconnect authentication via Radius (IAS) using AD groups

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to figure out how to setup our ASA to use AD group membership to assign users a profile using Radius.  The goal is to setup different access into the network.
    For instance, one group would be allowed full access to the network, including access to infrastructure elements (ASA, routers, etc.)
    Another group will be given basic access to the network, but no access to the DMZ.
    Another group will be allowed access to the DMZ server, but not to the infrastructure.
    We're currently using Radius (IAS) on Windows Server 2003.  Is there a way to check group membership in AD using Radius?
    I'd like to keep this as simple as possible, so I'm thinking of each profile using a different VPN Pool, then using split-tunneling to put routes, or not, to the required networks on the users device.  The users would only belong to one group in AD.  They will be able to choose their group, but if they're not a member they should be denied.
    I've done LDAP authentication using group membership, but we need good accounting and logging so we'd like to use the Radius server.  I've looked for this info everywhere, but it's pretty elusive.
    Thanks for any suggestions, links, step-by-step instructions or volunteers to come on-site and help

    It's significantly easier with security products like Cisco Identity Services Engine, but you're adding infrastrcture and cost. Next best thing is DAP. DAP is actually pretty easy, don't let the config guide scare you away from it. IMO MS Radius stinks for anything other than basic authentication so I never use it for anything else.

  • Script Font Styles

    I am currently using the CFR Builder 8. When I am design mode I can apply a script font style and see the font style no problem but, when I pull the report from the web the font style reverts back to a non-script type.
    Any and all help will be greatly appreciated..
    Examples:
    Design Mode:
    Live Mode:

    Resolved: The font style has to be added to the Coldfusion Admin. Font Manager.
