Another PB-display-victim?

Well, many people already mentioned it, here is one more:
me
I have the new Powerbook 15" since one week and its my first notebook ever so I dont have any comparison regarding the display.
Only when a friend told me that there might be a problem with the new PBs I checked and found those lines.
I didnt get any headake yet by staring at this screen.
But hey, I payed more than 2000 €! I try to find the relation,
I mean, is the quality good in relation to the situation of Apple, regarding the fact that the IntelPBs are coming anyway and money increasing (thanx ipod, money, money)?
I think its rather bad cause in my eyes Apple is superior in so many subjects, I kind of like their philosophie (how do you write that in english?).
Cant understand this one, ....
I want a perfect display, cause I paid enough money for a really cool machine.
(No, not enough, I bought&send back a 1GB Ram (Kingston DDR2 1 GB Premium), ordered another "good" one, eventually a lot of money)
Anybody made some revolutionary discovery which contains following informations:
Apple got it.
Apple is so sorry.
Apple has a solution, software / hardware, don't care, but for free.
Cause then I can live with the fact that all my saved money transformed into a very difficult to recycle but genius thing.

As I can see you have already got a powerbook, an old one but obviously one that works.
So you can chill and wait for the next generations of Pbooks.
I think I'll try to stay with this one, cause its the last PB with a G4 processor and if the screen thing will be fixed I think it will make it long time, until Aplle will produce an intel powerbook generation which is stabil and convincing it may take maybe a bit longer than couple of months.
(experience is a factor which requiers time, doesn't it)
good luck is in deed necessary

  • Can one clip in a sequence have "display first field" and another one  "display both fields"?

    Is it possible that one clip in a sequence will have "display first field" and another one
    "display both fields"?
    My problem is that I have a split screen. One part is a clip of still
    image with text and the text is seen good with "both fields" and a
    little bit blurred with "first field". The second part is a PAL clip
    and it is seen bad with "both" and good with "first".
    The pixel-ratio is 1.094 for both clips. Playback resolution is "full".

    I have an Eizo calibrated monitor.
    Hooked up how?  If in use as the main computer monitor, no this isn't sufficient.  You need a real TV or production monitor connected via HDMI, component, S-video or the like, so that it displays only the video signal and no part of the Desktop.
    (And if you're working in interlaced, it really needs to be a CRT that can properly display an interlaced signal.)

  • Another Caller Display Problem

    My caller display stopped working today at 14.00hrs and dispite reporting it several times and getting a text saying its now fixed, its not working.
    I have no filters and a filtered face plate, on infinity broadband and tried 2 new bt phones and they both display the same as the old ones NO Caller ID is Displayed.
    I took  my old phones to a mmate and they both show caller display, so sispect its another one of those weak signal faults ?
    Can a mod here take a look at it for me ringing India is winding me up
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    No filters as I put in my first post a filtered face plate.
    The phone is plugged into it direct, but it started working again on its own dispite a call from India saying problem is with my equiptment! which its not.
    BT are a shambles and its ok when everything works and I'm lucky mine never turned into a 6/8 multi call to 151 like others here.
    What caused it to stop working ? thery dont know, how it got fixed they dont know, other than to say after it started working again the faults in my property.

  • How to create an array in one field and have another field display certain elements from that array?

    I am making a form in Acrobat XI pro.
    In one text field, I created an array of several elements. I want other text fields to display certain elements from that array. For instance, one field should display the 3rd element, another field should display the 13th element, etc.
    The Javascript for making the array is very long, and so I don't want to have to re-calculate the array every single time (in order to reduce rendering time when I open the form on an iPad). This is why I'd like to only have to create the array once, and simply refer to it throughout the form.

    What code are you using to update the array currently? Are you completely rebuiding it when an element changes, or just changing specific elements for certain fields? I'm still not sure what exactly you are trying to do, but something like this in a document level script will create your array:
    var myArray;
    // Call 'updateArray' to initialize array
    updateArray();
    function updateArray() {
         // Code here to create/update array
         myArray = new Array();
         myArray[0] = "Value 1";
         myArray[1] = "Value 2";
         myArray[2] = "Value 3";
    Then, for each field that needs to update this array, you can add a call to 'updateArray()' in the appropriate event. This will rebuild the array completely; if you just want to update specific elements, then you can access them directly.

  • Yet Another Blank Display Issue!

    Hello there. I appear to be having a variant of the screen failure problem. However, I am almost certain it's not the GPU failing. Here's my symptoms:
    In all other respects, the MBP is completely functional. However, when I shut down and restart it, or close the screen, the display is blank when it powers back up. I think the problem is with the hibernation cycle:
    1. The power light remains on when the lid is closed, and the MBP continues to run
    2. When the battery is allowed to drain, the power light blinks on and off as though the computer were asleep
    3. When it's actually working, the only thing abnormal is the power light, which turns off when the display is on, and on when the display is off (default screensaver thing)
    I'm pretty much certain it isn't the NVIDIA problem, because I tried all the fixes up to and including connecting up to another apple and manually deleting the mkext cache and sleepimage file, which eventually worked. However, this proved to be only a temporary solution: as soon as I tried to reset it or let it hibernate, the screen went away and hasn't come back since without this difficult-to-achieve fix (I live near Dundee, and my nearest Apple-owning friend lives in Aylesbury).
    One interesting thing I noted (which has convinced me that the problem is caused by a hibernation fault) is that almost immediately upon its deletion, both the mkext cache and the sleepimage file would be recreated, and I was eventually forced into a ridiculous race with the machine to shut it down and restart it normally before it could break itself again.
    I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this variation of the problem, or if anyone is aware of the particular bug or fault responsible, and of a more permanent solution, short of never turning it off again.
    Thanks.

  • Macbook pro + another brand display?

    Hey guys! quick question...my dad has a PC (i know, hes old school) he put 2 displays together to make it into one, you know how your mouse can travel from screen to another...well my question is I wanted to do that with my mac book pro and I can get 2 screens but they arent apple, one is sony and the other is acer, if i wanted to add a screen to my macbook pro does it have to be strictly from mac or can it be another brand? i know the connections might be different but is there like an adapter maybe that I can buy? is there anyway I can put a different brand screen to my macbook pro? if so can I put the 2 screens together?
    Thanks guys!

    It says supports Windows and Mac.

    I've seen lots of questions about dual display problem, situation when trying to connect two non-apple vga displays to your graphic card.

    Is it problem with output's on my graphic card (Gforce FX 5200), could it be soloved with some ADC to VGA converter?

  • Another LCD display problem

    I've seen a lot of talk about the LCD flooding. (mine isn't cracked on the outside, but the display screen is all jumbled and it looks like the ink flooding people have mentioned; i can only see half of the menu screen)
    anyway, I'm wondering if apple will honor its warranty with this. I tried to set up service, but it's $30 for shipping and handling, and that's without any definite that they will replace my nano.
    Other than that, if I go to an apple store will they be able to give me that answer, without waisting shipping and handling charges?

    Yes, you can take the iPod into an Apple Store and see what they say.
    Depending on what happened to your display, they could fix it or not. If ink is "flooding" inside, then Apple will most likely not repair the iPod, since that is usually caused by abuse. On the other hand, if half of the display is off, it should be replaced, since that is not usually caused by abuse.
    In the end though, Apple decides what is abuse and what isn't.

  • Unwanted migration of dock from one screen to another (two displays)

    I recently upgraded to Mavericks, and now when I open certain applications (e.g. Calendar), the dock jumps from its position on the bottom of my right screen (two-display set up) to the bottom of the left display.
    This is problematic for several reasons, not the least of which is I want to control what happens, not be at the whim of Mac OS-X.  But the important thing here is that the two screens are not the same - one is a cinema display, one a lower resolution monitor, and I have them arranged this way for a reason.  OS-X is moving the dock to the lower resolution display, and that's crowding it.
    What's causing this?  How can I get it to stop?

    The dock is made to move based on dragging the pointer down off the bottom edge of the display where the Dock is not.  So, if the dock is on display 1 and you drag your mouse point down from the bottom edge of display 2, the dock interprets this as "move to display 2".
    Is it possible your are inadvertantly doing this while working in calendar?

  • Top of the line MacBook Pro 15" Retina with 2 27" thunderbolt displays or top of the line 27" iMac with another 27" display?

    I don't know which combination to get... The key is two have dual monitors. I'm a photographer and need the extra workspace. Would there be a noticeable difference in performance? Please help.

    I agree with shldr - do you need the portability? A lot - and I mean a lot - of photographers are taking their MBPs with them on location shoots. If you're in a studio all the time, then the iMac should suit you fine. If you shoot on location and need portability then the MBP with two 27" ATDs would be my choice. If, like most photogs, your shooting is both, go with the MBP.
    In the end, portability is your only concern. As an ex-pro, if I were buying a computer today, I would not get the Retina display MacBook Pro - I would get the fastest non-Retina and upgrade myself to 16GB of RAM and at least a 512GB SSD (although OWC has a 960GB SSD that looks awfully nice and the price keeps dropping).
    So location or studio or both? If location or mixed, MBP. If studio only, iMac.
    Pretty simple decision...

  • BDC another screen display not in recording ...

    Hi Experts,
    I have a BDC for Quotation creation using HBS2.
    The execution per screen works fine for the old company code created previously.
    But when a new company was created, using the same BDC a new screen appears not in the recording and the effect is that the sequence of screen execution is lost as a result producing an error message field "VBKD-IHREZ" does not exist in screen.
    Thanks a lot.
    Kath

    Hi,
    If you are getting different screen flow for different actions, then you should record all possible scenarios first. Then anayse what are the differences and accordingly put the logic.
    Here, you can have two recordings. One for existing company code and another for new company code. Check first whther company code already exists (check table T001W, if just plant check require. I don't know your exact scenario). If exists first recording. Call different screens conditionally.
    Let me know whether it helps or describe your problem in the details.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Another dreaded "-8" victim

    The Story:
    Bought MacBook to speak with & see my wife while on short term contract in Sweden. Home is in Canada.
    The first day I got it I could video chat from Sweden with my neighbour in Canada who lives one floor below us, but couldn't video chat with my home computer (iMac).
    I juts downloaded Skype 2.0 Beta this week and on the first try without configuring anything, I could video chat with her. It works fine each time. iChat, on the other hand, has never worked. I am housed in a business aparment and have no access to the router. I have checked everything mentioned in previous posts.
    Any help is appreciated.

  • Can I hook up an early 2011 macbook pro to a new iMac AND another thunderbolt display?

    I want to get a new iMac, and I have an early 2011 macbook pro.  Can I use a two-way thunderbolt cable to hook these two up?  If so, will I still be able to use full functionality on both as I move windows to and from one of them?  (Like, I use my macbook track pad to move a safari window over to my iMac, and then I can either use my iMac mouse or my macbook's trackpad to do things with that safari window.
    ALSO, is it possible to hook up an additional thunderbolt display to all of this?  Basically my end-goal is to have a macbook pro hooked up to an iMac with an additional thunderbolt display, that's my "dream set-up" which will make a lot of stuff that I do a lot easeir and less crowded on one moniter.

    no the thunderbold display thing would let you use the imac as a monitor for the macbook apart from acting the role of display the imac would be dorment so a very pricy monitor

  • One JComboBox "overwrites" another in display

    Hi,
    I have a JPanel containing two JComboBoxes, one above the other. Now, when I pull down the menu of the top one, it displays over the top of the one below it. Then, after making a selection, the pull-down menu closes, but the JComboBox below doesn't display, until I either tab so it gets focus, or I click in it.
    No amount of validating, revalidating, or repainting of either the JComboBox(es) or the entire contentPane seems to fix the issue
    Any assistance very much appreciated

    It works fine in my reply in this thread:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=57&thread=428181
    Just replace the WEST/EAST locations with NORTH/SOUTH
