Ant vs JDev generated jar files

I'm migrating the 10.1.3 BPEL sources to an automated build environment using ant. Almost all of my processes migrated seamlessly using the 10.1.0,.2 based build hierarchy, but one is choking. I can compile it fine but upon deployment it fails, even after bpelcclasspath updates. It has some local classes supporting the worklist API that JDev wraps up nicely but these are neglected by ant. I haven't been able to resolve these missing classes with any of the available ant arguments. For some reason I understood that JDev leveraged the ant system in 10.1.3 to perform its builds. I don't see how though. The compiler message shows:
C:\product\10.1.3\OracleAS_1\jdk\jre\bin\java.exe -jar C:\JDEV10132\jdev\lib\ojc.jar -source 1.5 -target 1.5 -noquiet -warn -nowarn:320 -nowarn:486 -nowarn:487 -deprecation:self -nowarn:560 -nowarn:704 -nowarn:489 -nowarn:415 -nowarn:909 -nowarn:412 -nowarn:414 -nowarn:561 -nowarn:376 -nowarn:371 -nowarn:558 -nowarn:375 -nowarn:413 -nowarn:377 -nowarn:372 -nowarn:557 -nowarn:556 -nowarn:559 -encoding Cp1252 -g -d C:\JDEV10132\jdev\mywork\Common\BPELWorkList\output -make C:\JDEV10132\jdev\mywork\Common\BPELWorkList\output\BPELWorkList.cdi -classpath C:\product\10.1.3\OracleAS_1\jdk\jre\lib\rt.jar;C:\product\10.1.3\OracleAS_1\jdk\jre\lib\i18n.jar;C:\product\10.1.3\OracleAS_1\jdk\jre\lib\sunrsasign.jar;C:\product\10.1.3\OracleAS_1\jdk\jre\lib\jsse.jar;C:\product\10.1.3\OracleAS_1\jdk\jre\lib\jce.jar;C:\product\10.1.3\OracleAS_1\jdk\jre\lib\charsets.jar;C:\product\10.1.3\OracleAS_1\jdk\jre\classes;C:\JDEV10132\jdev\mywork\Common\BPELWorkList\output;C:\JDEV10132\integration\lib\bpm-infra.jar;C:\JDEV10132\integration\lib\bpm-services.jar -sourcepath C:\JDEV10132\jdev\mywork\Common\BPELWorkList\src C:\JDEV10132\jdev\mywork\Common\BPELWorkList\src\mypkg\TaskAssignee.java
You can see the mypkg elements in the JDev command. Comparing the jar files produced by the different utilities shows distinctly different products: Note the size difference:
-rw-rw-rw- 1 wzscqz root 264624 Apr 26 17:28 bpel_BPELWorkList_1.0.jar
-rw-rw-rw- 1 wzscqz root 6204184 Apr 26 17:25 bpel_BPELWorkList_v2007_04_26__62657.jar
The latter is JDev of course. When I look at the contents of the jar file I see that the BPEL-INF library is missing. Here is a snippet of the jar listing for the JDev version:
drwxrwxrwx 0 26-Apr-2007 17:24:18 BPEL-INF/lib/
-rw-rw-rw- 2150 26-Apr-2007 17:24:18 BPEL-INF/lib/bpelclasses.jar
-rw-rw-rw- 1409767 26-Apr-2007 17:24:18 BPEL-INF/lib/bpm-infra.jar
-rw-rw-rw- 4526876 26-Apr-2007 17:24:18 BPEL-INF/lib/bpm-services.jar
The private class file is located in bpelclasses.jar.
I've extracted this file and moved it to the BPEL PM (Solaris) and got the process to deploy and run correctly. I would like to resolve the build process though without this band-aid. Anyone know how I can resolve this missing components?

Hi JJ,
After reading your comments, i think i am really a new kid on the block. In the codes I inherit, there are some input text files which contain values to be read by the java files but I didnt include them in my ANT build script. The reason for this input files is to provide flexbility in changing values without the need to re-compile. what commands can I write to include these files during compile? when i build my jar file, how can i "zipped" these input files into my final jar file?
At the moment, this is what I wrote in my script.
<target name="MyTask.compile" description="Compiles the Task">
<mkdir dir="${MyTask.classes}"/>
<javac srcdir="${MyTask.src}" destdir="${MyTask.classes}"/>
</target>
<target name="MyTask.jar" description="JARs the Task" depends="MyTask.compile">
<jar destfile="${MyTask.dist}/MyTask.jar" basedir="${MyTask.classes}" >
               <manifest>
               <attribute name="Main-Class" value="Main"/>
               <attribute name="Class-Path" value="lib/lib /lib/ant.jar"/>
               </manifest>
</jar>
</target>
I tried to use javac to decompile the class files produced by ANT and NetBeans and they are the same. I compiled them using the same version of jdk. What do you mean by classpath?
Thanks.

  • Adogjf Unable to generate jar files under JAVA_TOP error while patching

    Hi,
    I'm upgrading my version of Java from 1.3.1_19 to 1.5.0_17. I downloaded the jdk-1_5_0_17-linux-i586.bin file and unpackaged it to /u0/<SID>/<SID>db/10.2.0. It unpackaged it to a new directory jdk1.5.0_17 (/u0/<SID>/<SID>db/10.2.0/jdk1.5.0_17), whereas the old version is in a directory jdk (/u0/<SID>/<SID>db/10.2.0/jdk).
    Having done that I had to run an interoperability patch (4372996). Upon running this patch I received an error at the end:
    adogjf() Unable to generate jar files under JAVA_TOP
    There were no other errors.
    I think the problem has to do with where my new java version is located but I'm not sure. I'm thinking that it's still looking under the old JAVA_TOP (/u0/<SID>/<SID>db/10.2.0/jdk) when I want it to look under the new JAVA_TOP (/u0/<SID>/<SID>db/10.2.0/jdk1.5.0_17). So, should I move the contents from the new directory (jdk1.5.0_17) to the old directory (jdk) or is there a way to 'point' it to the new JAVA_TOP.
    Please let me know if I'm totally off base and there's another solution. We're currently on EBS 11.5.10.2, DB 10.2.0.4 and RHEL 4 Update 5.
    Thanks,
    Lia.

    Here you go. Hope this helps you to help me :-). Thanks.

  • How to generate jar file?

    Dear All
    I developed a java mobile application and it contains an xml file and it works fine on mobile. But when I open it with WinRar and change some data in the xml file and then save it, it doesnt work on the mobile. So, is there any windows application to generate jar file??
    Please help me
    Many thanks

    The trouble is, it does everything for youMore than "everything". I had Thumbnail view set in
    Windows ExplorerNo windows for me. Linux ;)
    and ended up with Thumbs.db in my
    jar. lol
    Since it was a very small app, that increased
    the size of the jar by more than 20%, which I
    consider unacceptable considering that most installs
    would be via a GPRS connection.Windows and it's crappy stuff
    and I hate it.In spite of all that, I still love it :) Expescially
    when I use 'reformat' on code posted by somebody
    newer to java than I am, just to be able to read it
    and see where the braces line up.Yes. In such cases we need it. But I still relish the console. The first IDE I used was Eclipse and now I am on Netbeans. But if any beginner uses and IDE I won't hesitate to spank him. I used the console for such a long time before shifting to an IDE. And moreover I shifted to an IDE because I have no other alternative here at office. Otherwise it would still be the console for me. But back on my laptop it's my good old buddy, the console ;)
    Using an IDE, imho, makes a lot of things easier, but
    using it blindly is, in the long run, going to create
    more problems than it solves.

    one cannot include dependent jars in the generated jar. Eclipse has a jar-in-jar extension to allow this so check the Eclipse documentation.

  • Deploying an application with existing library as jar file created with ANT

    Hello All,
    I am having some trouble with a web application I am deploying to Tomcat. I have an custom library that works perfectly as a jar file included in the lib directory if I include all the jars that that library depends on into the lib directory also. What I would like to do is bundle the required jar files into my libraries jar file, but it failes to work when I do that.
    Any thoughts? Does Tomcat prevent this?
    I am using ANT to create my jar file, but when I look at the contents of my jar file it includes all the requested directories.
    My build.xml looks like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <project name="myapp" basedir="." default="jar">
    <property name="classes.dir" value="./classes"/>
    <property name="jar.dir" value="."/>
    <property name="java_lib.dir" value="../../../../../Program Files/Java/lib"/>
    <target name="jar">
    <jar destfile="${jar.dir}/${ant.project.name}.jar">
    <fileset dir="classes"/>
    <fileset dir="${java_lib.dir}" includes="jai_codec.jar.jar"/>
    <fileset dir="${java_lib.dir}" includes="xercesImpl.jar"/>
    <fileset dir="${java_lib.dir}" includes="mysql-connector-java-3.1.8-bin.jar"/>
    <fileset dir="${java_lib.dir}" includes="xmlParserAPIs.jar"/>
    <fileset dir="${java_lib.dir}" includes="mlibwrapper_jai.jar"/>
    <fileset dir="${java_lib.dir}" includes="xml-apis.jar"/>
    <fileset dir="${java_lib.dir}" includes="jai_core.jar"/>
    </jar>
    </target>
    <target name="run" depends="jar">
    <java jar="${jar.dir}/${ant.project.name}.jar" fork="true"/>
    </target>
    <target name="clean-build" depends="jar"/>
    <target name="main" depends="run"/>
    </project>
    Like I said...it includes these jar files in my jar file, but will not function properly with my tomcat app. If I exclude these jar files and include them seperately then everything works.
    NOTE: I do not access any of these libraries directly from any servlets, only from my classes.
    Thanks,
    J-Rod

    This probably isn't posted on the correct forum. This JVM forum is for discussing issues related to running java in an Oracle database using the OJVM, Oracle's embedded java VM. Possibly you are trying to use OJVM through JDEV but that isn't clear from your post and I don't believe that the error you are reporting would occur in that case. If it did or if you are in fact trying to run client java via JDEV the problem would be a JDEV rather than OJVM issue and so the JDEV forum,
    JDeveloper and ADF
    is the correct one to use.

    Hi DBA's
    Jar files not generating under JAVA_TOP after migration from windows to linux.
    I followed workaround but same in result.
    Workaround
    Run this command. It will give the missing file
    adjava -mx512m -nojit oracle.apps.ad.jri.adjcopy -masterArchive $JAVA_TOP -sync -reportfile javatopfiles.lst
    Then run this command
    adjava -mx512m -nojit oracle.apps.ad.jri.adjcopy -masterArchive JAVA_TOP -sync -mode APPLY
    I have checked in google.

  • The difference of jar files that were generated from wsdl

    hello there:
    I used maven's jaxws plugin to generate jar files from two wsdl links. The links are pretty much the same except for one line:
    <wsdlsoap:address location="http://<env>.XXXXXX"the <env> indicate the environment is a prod or uat. Other than that, the wsdl is the same.
    The question is, can the jars generated from respective wsdl be used interchangably? I did notice there a few bytes different from the resultant two jars, and the test shows they CAN'T be used interchangably.
    Can anyone explain why?
    Thanks,
    Johnny

    You may use them interchangeably if the code that uses the classes in the jar(s) does not depend on the default address of the web service but instead always passes the URL during initialization of such stub classes.

    Hi all,
    I have applied the consolidated JRI fixes - patch 17191279 .
    Then, when generating Jar, received keypass is tampered error.
    re-generated the key using $ adjkey -initialize.
    Now, its working fine.

    also does not work
    any tip please ?
    Thanks in advance
    Nabil

    First of all, leave the lib and jre/lib directories of the JRE alone. Never ever touch them again. Remove any jars you have put there yourself, or better yet completely remove and reinstall the JRE to make sure you put it back in a correct state.
    After you do that, learn how to properly work with the classpath in both the IDE and the command line.
    Netbeans: you define the classpath by adding jars to the project (right click on the libraries node in the project tree to get the appropriate options).
    Command line: this depends on if you run a single class, or you invoke an executable jar.
    Single class: you use the -cp command line switch to define the classpath
    Executable jar: the jar itself defines the classpath in its META-INF/manifest.mf file. The -cp command line switch is ignored.
    Since you use Netbeans, you'll get an executable jar so make sure to learn how such a jar is structured.

  • Java 5.0 does not recognize wrapped Class-Path in Manifest.MF of .jar file?

    Java: build 1.5.0_05-b05
    Ant: 1.6.2
    I use Ant <jar> task to create a standalone application in a .jar file. I have a very long "Class-Path" in the Manifest.MF file. The long Class-Path is wrapped at every 70th character by the <jar> task. I cannot run "java -jar <the jar file>", because Java runtime cannot find classes.
    I found the following Q&A from ANT's FAQ page,
    Q: Whenever I use the Ant jar or manifest related tasks, long lines in my manifest are wrapped at 70 characters and the resulting jar does not work in my application server. Why does Ant do this?
    A: Ant implements the Java Jar file specification. Please refer to the notes section where it discusses the maximum allowable length of a line and the concept of continuation characters.
    If a jar file produced by Ant does not work in your appserver, and that failure is due to the wrapped manifest, then you need to consult your appserver provider, as it is a bug in their appserver. Far more likely, however, is a problem in your specification of your classpath. It is not Ant's wrapping of your classpath that is the problem.
    Do not raise a bug about this issue until you have checked to ensure that the problem is not due to your classpath specification.
    Any idea?

    "will be searched ALSO."...
    From: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/ext/basics/load.html
    Understanding Extension Class Loading
    The extension framework makes use of the new class-loading mechanism in the JavaTM 1.2 platform. When the runtime environment needs to load a new class for an application, it looks for the class in the following locations, in order:
    1. Bootstrap classes: the runtime classes in rt.jar and internationalization classes in i18n.jar.
    2. Installed extensions: classes in JAR files in the lib/ext directory of the JRE.
    3. The class path: classes, including classes in JAR files, on paths specified by the system property java.class.path. If a JAR file on the class path has a manifest with the Class-Path attribute, JAR files specified by the Class-Path attribute will be searched also.

    Hi,
    I have gone through your code and the problem is that when you create jar it takes a complete path address (which is called using getAbsolutePath ) (when you extract you see the path; C:\..\...\..\ )
    You need to truncate this complete path and take only the path address where your files are stored and the problem must be solved.

  • Including web service jaras in final jar file

    Hello all.
    Im using netbeans 4.0. I have used JAXB code in my program, ie. Ive used a few packages I created with the XJC compiler so i can unmarshall some XML documents. I have included the four JAXB Jar files from the Java Web Services Developer Pack in my project by including them in the projects "Classpath for compiling sources". This works fine when running in netbeans. But when I try running the project outside netbeans by double clicking on the generated JAR file I get a
    Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/xml/bind/JAXBException
    Im guessing this is because it can't see the jaxb jar files when not run from within netbeans. How would I include the jaxb jars in the jar file that netbeans generates?
    I know this is partly an IDE related question but I thought it must be a fairly common problem when creating JAR files so i posted it here.
    Any help is appreciated.
    thanks

    Im guessing this is because it can't see the jaxb jar
    files when not run from within netbeans. How would I
    include the jaxb jars in the jar file that netbeans
    generates? You wouldn't include them in that jar file. You would include Class-Path entries (which refer to the jaxb jars) in the manifest of the jar file that Netbeans creates.
    Don't ask me how to do that, I don't use Netbeans. I assume that Netbeans must support it somehow, but if you can't find out how then a Netbeans forum would be a good place to ask.
    I know this is partly an IDE related question but I
    thought it must be a fairly common problem when

  • Creating jar file for EJB

    Can anybody tell me how to make the jar file to deploy an EJB in websphere??

    There are many ways.
    You can use Ant to build your Jar file, but you need to construct your ant build file.
    Or make your EJB in an exploded directory structure and then use Jar utility like
    jar -cvf xxxx.jar.
    or if you are using WSAD, it will construct everything for you. But you need to do some additions in the deployment descriptor.

  • Adding java projects in eclipse instead of jar files

    I have 2 java projects, one is in C:/test/ProjectA and another is C:/test/ProjectB
    Under projectA and ProjectB i have sub projects.
    I mainly work on ProjectB and import the jar of ProjectA in eclipse.
    Now I have removed jar file of ProjectA reference through eclipse and import projects to workspace, added projects under java build path. clean and build project. no compilation error in eclipse.
    when i do this, one of the class file is not getting loaded while server startup:

    when i add relevant jar file to the project and do a clean build server is getting started as expected.
    But my changes are not reflecting since it is referring old jar file.
    I am using Tomcat server as development environment.
    What i want is instead of refering jar file in eclipse, add projects so that the new changes should reflect the changes without ant build for creating jar file and instead only with eclipse build with source code of the dependent project and run the application.

I mean before using either of the ant script the or build project option in eclipse. And because of this it is not giving error.

    And when you deploy the build app in tomcat it looks for the dependent jar/classes in lib or classses folder, and as it is not there the error is thrown.

    Or you can make the ant to prompt the user which jars to be loaded, while building (I suggest this option, rather than loading all the jar's of project A and project B).
