Any concern over the inability to change the ODSCOMMON password?

The oidpasswd utility changes the password for the ODS account and for the ODS_SERVER role. There doesn't seem to be a way to change the password for ODSCOMMON, which is the account that is actually used by OID when connecting to the database.
All of the privileges are granted to the ODS_SERVER role, which is password protected. So, a malicious user can't get in and change data. However, the user could drop the synonyms owned by the ODSCOMMON account, or perform other denial of service attacks, such as changing the password or locking the account.
I have been a little too scared to test this, but I assume that it would pretty easy to break OID in this fashion.
Is anyone else concerned about this, and have you developed any workarounds?

Is the AirPort Express device "creating" the Apple c0073 network or is it joining a wireless network that is created by another wireless device?
You definitely should be able to change the network name unless the current name is being created by another device. After you change the wireless name, you need to make a wireless connection to it by joining the "new" network by its new name or by using an Ethernet cable connection.

No, you should be concerned about the friends you have at your place. If you think they will do that, I'd suggest you get some more trustworthy friends.
Take some personal responsibility to protect your internet service.
Personally I only use a wired ethernet connected laptop and have wireless turned off, so that concern is mitigated.

Airport Express will not allow any downloads over the network, why is this and what can I do to fix it?

I own an Apple Airport Express station. I am attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the airport is hooked into the network via ethernet cord. While the first few months of operation have gone smoothly for this router, over the last few weeks any and all downloads have failed to complete over the airport. I moved outside and used the official University's wifi and the downloads worked, meaning it's not a UNC network problem (to my knowledge). All file types affected include song downloads through iTunes, app downloads on my iPhone, software downloads like Google Chrome, Finale, Microsoft Word updates, etc. I have tried this on both my Lenovo with Windows 7 and my Macbook Pro to troubleshoot hardware problems and it doesn't work on either of them. I have restored the router to factory settings twice now and still it does not work. Sorry for the length of this, just wanted to pass along as much info as I could.

The fact that you can access all downloads while the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) is not directly attached to the University's network indicates that the University's IT department may not allow downstream routers connected to their network without first registering it with them. This is often the case, and it is not uncommon that most universities do not allow you to do so in the first place. I would suggest that you start by contacting your IT department to see if this is allowed, and if so, they should be able to assist you with the proper configuration of your AX.

Does the new Thunderbolt display have any advantages over the current 27" iMac

Other than being 3kg lighter and including a sub (2.1 stereo system) rather than just stereo speakers, are there any advantages of the new Thunderbolt display over the current 27" iMac?
We need a new desktop very soon, and will eventually upgrade to an Mac Pro (not until a post Lion version comes out with Thunderbolt built in). We were contemplating a MacMini Server and a Thunderbolt display, but for only a little extra (weight and cash) we could get a more powerfull 27" iMac. Are there any benefits of the Thunderbolt display that are not included in the top end 27" iMac? I'm assuming it's just the same 27" LED backlit TFT LCD with IPS...
In the end we would probably end up using the iMac or display as a display for a Mac Pro (we're photographers), so if there are significant benefits of the Thunderbolt Display, we'll just get it with the Mini as a stopgap.

The only real advantage of the new 27" ACD is that you can easily move it from one unit to another (Mini to MBP to Pro, etc). If you bought a 27" iMac you could always hook up another display to the iMac and run dual monitors fairly easily.
The advantage of the Pro is that you can add a bigger video card, lots more RAM and up to 4 hard drives. If you plan on buying a Pro as soon as it comes out, get the Mini, if not get the iMac (it will save you a bit of space over a ACD and a Mini). I think the real question is, what do you think you are going to use more in the future.
And yes, the 27" iMac and the 27" ACD use the same IPS screen.

In reading the Permissions section I see that this update can, among other things:
1. add or modify calendar events,
2. end email's out without my knowledge,
3. share content,
4.modify my contacts
5. etc,
6. etc.
To be honest, this spooks me a lot and I am wondering if all this kind of sharing has been going on on my S3 since I started loading contacts and using the calendar vice an old-school paper Day-Timer.
I would appreciate an thoughts form the community...

Friend just got the message that this update was available, he was not sure it was a legitimate update. however we did some searching and found that the Verizon support web site specifically addresses this update, which put my friend at ease. Verizon already know's all your business, I do not believe that this new update will change or increase that.

Hello to all! I wonder if there are any means [shortcuts] of getting the yellow cycle bar to be placed at any chosen point of one's track? Presently I am using the cursor to drag and place it at the desired place, and also have to tug at its ends to resize it. Having become used to FCPX's 'shortcuts' which are so easy to use, I would love to know whether there are any shortcuts to place the yellow bar where we want it [say, place the skimmer at that point and click upon the mouse!]

Voice your concerns over the recent "Always Online...

If you have more than 1 device on which you installed Skype, a recent "feature" will have you appear "online" 24/7/52/365 if you do not manually sign-off skype on all of your devices. Simply un-plug your devices, turn off your devices, shutdown your devices won't help. You will still appear "online" ghostly unless you manually sign-off and in some cases, "quit" Skype.
I called this "feature" many names. Please vote this thread up to demand a fix from Skype ASAP.
I personally gave Skype two weeks to get their %$!& in order.

Any fix for the "remembering passwords" problem with MAIL?

I've been following the other threads on this topic. I am a new Mac user (all of 5 days) with 10.5.2 preinstalled on a macbook pro, so this is not a migration problem. Applecare has been unable to resolve the issue. My setup is a Verizon FIOS POP account. I've tried all the repairing, creating keychain suggestions. My incoming and outgoing accounts function properly, then they mysteriously forget the login credentials. Is there any fix for this, this seems absurd coming from a PC background? Thanks.

I just signed up for FIOS and am not experiencing your problem (had enough other ones instead).
Go to mail preferences ~ click on a mail account ~ click on the advanced tab. The only settings that worked for me were: port 110 SSL OFF, authentication: Authenticated POP (APOP). If I remember correctly when I first set this up another window opened and I typed in my password and never had to do that again.

I was wondering if it was truly the policy of your retail stores to not tell customers whether they have a product in stock or not over the phone?

I . like everyone else, have been in search of an iphone6 and i d rather not order it online, my nearest verizon store is a couple of miles away and i don't drive, Every time i call they tell me they "cant discuss inventory over the phone". All i need to know is whether they have them in stock or not.so Im not making another wasted trip out of my way on foot to be told they don't. I've been into the store 4 of the past 6 days and they always just tell me to "come back tomorrow" , staunchly refusing to give me any information over the phone..
My contract has been up for a while but i wanted to wait it out until the new iphones came out and renew it with verizon but at the moment your retail stores cant even manage to give me enough Customer Service to even let me know if what i want is available at their store .

I understand that the new iphones are selling quickly and if they were to tell me over the phone that they in fact had them, it is no guarantee that they will still be there an hour later. However every time I've gone in they've been completely out , and if they were to tell me this over the phone it would save me the hour it takes me to get there on foot. Ive called other stores and theyve had no problem telling me exactly what they have in stock, as well as your own customer service reps telling me that this in fact is not corporate policy. Ive explained all of this to the store as politely as possible the only options theyve given me are to physically come into the store to check or to order it online, which id rather not do.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't do that, you'll need to change the password on your Wi-Fi and then change the settings on the Apple TV to log into your network again using the new password.

Is there any control on the number of child records returned

I am using web services 1.0 to return child records for an account. Is there any control over the number of child records that are returned. From what I can see it is above the default for 10 for parent record query and i would guess it returns up to 100 records?

In DSP 2.5, the 'streaming' api (which can be used only from a client in the ALDSP server instance) does not have a limit to the size of the results. The standard DSP 2.5 api causes the results to be materialized in memory - so you are limited to what memory you have available. (also, WLS server has a default limit of 10M for a request/response - can be increased in the WLS console - I think it's under 'Protocols').
The JDBC api has no limit on the result size - you might be better off using this for a reporting tool.
In DSP 3.2, there is no limit on the result size.

You cannot do it from a PC. There is no applications that will make a PC access AFP files. You cannot connect to the TC with SMB due to blocking of SMB by ISP as it is insecure.
The only way to do this is replace the current router with vpn one.. and use vpn from the remote computer to the router. The TC will be connected by bridge to the router and can be accessed by SMB ie windows networking.

Windows XP Pro.Firefox 17.0.1 I enter my new password in gmail over the remembered old password & it kicks back to old password

When opening gmail, Firefox remembers my old password...normally I just highlight and type over the old password with my new password and enter the account...3 times in the last month, after "typing over" the old password, it reverts itself to the old password and won't allow me to enter gmail...I end up messing with cookies and clearing cache and eventually resetting Firefox...it's a real pain...can anyone tell me what's causing this????

This can also be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that aren't send or otherwise blocked.
