Any help welcome for beginner.

I'm creating a an online shopping system using netbeans IDE 6.1. Im currently creating the administration section that will allow me to add new categories & product/s to the system.
The system should allow the user to Add/View/Edit/Delete categories & Add/View/Edit/Delete products.
Im using two DAO classes (CategoryDAO, ProductDAO) to store the categories/products created.
Ive created the Add/View/Delete/Edit categories part. Im having trouble with the Adding products part. I need to be able to get the categories (category name) ive already stored and display them in a drop-down list (combo box) which will allow me to choose the category that the product belongs to.
Please any help is much appreciated.

What specific problem are you having?
Please provide an SSCCE--just enough code to demonstrate what you're having trouble with, but nothing extraneous. This might mean you'll have to create a completely separate program to show the problem.

There's Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant. The cleanest way to do it is Setup Assistant, but you only get that option once when you fire up a fresh install of OSX. If you're past that, you could reinstall OSX by booting with Command-R, or you could use Migration Assistant.

  • Has there been any helpful remedy for the ghost typing issue?

Has there been any helpful remedy for the ghost typing issue? Where the ipad starts typing on its own and screens moving around the screen?
I have had the ipad 1 for a while- and it started about 5 months ago. Anything other than shutting down and leaving alone for hours work?

Yeah, well if you read that whole thread you will see lots of posts identifying it as a hardware problem:
I'm the original poster on this thread. I ended up taking my iPad back to the Apple Store. They ran some diagnostics, and found that my RAM was almost maxed out, which didn't really make sense. It indicated a faulty processor, so they gave me a new iPad. I took it home, synched, and it only took about 45 minutes to synch 30 gigs of data. My original iPad took about 5 hours to synch for the first time. Clearly there was a problem with the processor in the first one, but I didn't realize it at first, as it took several weeks before it started exhibiting the erratic screen behavior. Hope this helps anyone else who might experience this down the line.

So i went to my apple store... which was PACKED. Found a manager and explained my problem. Without any question, they simply replaced it. Awesome!
    -duncanwilcox
I have the same problem, and I found out what's wrong, it's not the software - restart, restore and FW upgrade will not help, it's definitely hardware. The best option is to replace your iPad assuming you have an apple store nearby…

Just get your iPad replaced. It has a hardware problem.

Did you try updating the firmware or resetting all settings
at: Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset all settings?
It will not remove any data, just settings and things like ring tones etc

  • PSD Slices to HTML - creating clean code - email clients disjointing slices, any help welcome...

    Hi Guys
Really sorry i know there will be numerous posts on this topic and some very valuable info that may help, but i am on a sort deadline so am just going straight in...
I am creating an HTML email in Dreamweaver from slices generated by photoshop (whole email to be images). in a browser the HTML doc displays perfectly, but as soon as it is uploaded and sent to hotmail for instance all the slices are disjointed loads of gaps everywhere not seemles like in the browservr
I have searched high and low and have not found out how to rectify this issue, and it is the same in Outlook, i know i need to test this across as many email clients as possible which i will do when i am with the client but i need some info now so i can try and understand and overcome.
Can anyone offer any solid info on this?

  • Hi, having trouble playing mov files taken by a Fuji camera, image shows up but all in green and no playback any help welcome.

H can anybody help with the above problem?

When you have kernel panics, the pertinent information is in the panic report.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.

Hi X-Calibar, thanks for your comments. Yes, there are 4 zones under Internet Options and security settings. IE9 from what I have read has more security features than IE7/IE8 had. It appears this Server verification involves status of the Certificate that the website has as well as the Server that is using it. From what I've read on the IE9 sites, Microsoft states that if any HTTP sites are in the Trusted Zone, that the Server Verification is to be UNchecked.
When you go to add a site to the Trusted Sites zone, it by default only accepts HTTPS sites.
I would think that would only be if you had the SV box checked, that's what I find with IE8.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Search?q=what+is+server+verification+in+IE&prd =Windows7
I think you and I may be saying the same thing, just in a different way:-) Not using IE9, I don't know how all of the new features work. My concern is mainly limited to any feature that conflicts or effects Flash Player. Just as the ActiveX Filtering. That certainly effects Flash Player, so that is on my radar:-)
Hopefully, Chris Campbell will clarify some of this:-)
    Thanks,

  • Any help/ideas for ATI X800 XT

Aloha, I've searched & searched so I'm hoping someone here might have an idea where to get an ATI X800 XT card for my G5. I have heard rumors that they have started making/shipping them again. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Mahalo in advance for any tips. JB

OK, so getting an ATI X800 card looks impossible right now, so can anyone point me towards a different card that would make working with Aperture on my G5 a bit quicker/smoother?
G5 Dual 2.3 GHz PPC with 4GB ram and a (AGP) ATI Radeon 9650 video card.
I really love Aperture and it's capabilities, but it's lag with every tweak on RAW files is becoming frustrating. Mahalo in advance for any assistance. JB

  • Unbearably slow transfer rate. Any help welcome.

So I'm backing up about 139 gigs of data from one external hard drive to another. I'm copying from a Seagate 2TB drive via USB to a WD 2TB drive also connected via USB. It took one hour to copy the files to the Seagate drive, but when I start copying from the Seagate drive to the WD one, I'm told it'll take 39 hours to complete!  I did the math with how fast it's actually running and I'm getting a transfer speed of one Megabyte per second! So my questions are...
What the heck is going on here?
How can I get it faster? Preferably without spending any money on other software and/or hardware.
And now for some obligatory information!
-Both hard drives use an external power source
-I'm using a Mac Pro tower with a 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor
    -I have 4 GB of 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM memory
-The Seagate drive is capable of USB 3.0, but the tower only has USB 2.0 (I know it just means I'm using USB 2.0, but my point is that drive isn't just slow)
-The WD Drive is only capable of USB 2.0
-Both drives are formatted Mac OS Extender (Journaled)
-One drive is plugged into the front of the tower, the other is plugged into the back
-Currently, Activity Monitor says I'm only using 1% of my computer's processing power
-Nothing else is running (except Firefox right now, but it's still at only 1% usage)
-Three other things are using my USB ports, a keyboard, a mouse, and a printer (the printer isn't even on)
-I have one FireWire port, but the hard drives can't use FireWire anyway
-I'm backing up from a separate computer so the files are not on the tower and there is not enough room for them on the tower (I cannot copy to the tower from one drive, then copy to the second from the tower)

Replace the hard drive case surrounding the drive with a Firewire one, or insert it in the Mac Pro tower's second hard drive bay.

  • New build with big bang x-power board. Any help welcome and appreciated.

Started new build with big bang x-power board, i7 960 processor, 3 x 4gb mushkin cl7 ram and imation m-class 128gb solid state drive running Windows 7 ultimate x64. This particular SSD is probably just temporary. Since I don't have the SSD I really want (yet) and this 1 was given to me at no cost, by a friend who really hated it, I thought it would suit my current needs. The specs & reviews were not encouraging, but they were not exactly "terrible" either.
Anyway, I was unable to install the OS on the Imation drive, while connected to a sata2 port. Got repeat bsod despite many variations in settings, including fail safe defaults. After clearing cmos and switching to a sata3 port, I got it to install no problem after putting settings back to cpu voltge: 1.35, dram voltage: 1.65, mode: AHCI and all others: default with only 1 RAM module seated.
So... I think this may be a BIOS issue and was hoping someone could point me to the most recent BIOS version available for me to update my BBXP board. I believe v1.6 is what i'm looking for, unless my info is outdated. Since my plan is ultimately to run the OS from an SSD using a sata2 port, I definitely want to resolve this, and hopefully any other issues with the v1.0 BIOS that I just haven't encountered yet.

Thanks again HU16E, and sorry for any confusion and/or lack of information. I'm guess you can tell i'm still new at this, but I'll try to do better with specifics in the future   -please forgive me.
SSD = Solid State Drive. The brand of this particular solid state drive is "Imation" and the series is "M-Class." It is a sataII device that would not install the OS while connected to any of the sataII ports on the board. Initial attempt was made with all settings on auto. When that didn't work, I adjusted voltages because it seemes unstable with repeat freezes and restarts. The install seemed to start ok with adjusted voltages but still would not complete.
I then moved the sataII drive to a sataIII (marvell) port, put all settings back on auto and the install went further (loaded files, copied files, expanded files, etc) but would froze several times during windows start up attempt. I then changed cpu & dram voltages back to the adjusted values I tried when the drive was connected to the sataII port and everything worked fine. Tested under load for 4 hours and no problems of any kind. Its still working now. I do however suspect I will have many more problems when I move the solid state back to a sataII port, or when I add my other Hard Disk Drives.
BIOS version showed: 1.0.0 but i can check again to assure I didn't misread anything in my haste. If i'm mistaken, I will post the correction. Hope I answered everything the way you wanted & didn't just make matters worse and more confusing  lol.  thanks for the link as well, i'll check on it asap

  • Any Help Available for Minimizing the Shimmer on Photos?

I've just finished a movie that's made up of photos imported from iphoto. I've burned a DVD and the still images look fantastic... but most of the photos with a Ken Burns move (even a short, gentle move)shimmer like crazy. It's especially bad if there's any kind of line pattern in the image (on buildings, etc). When there's water in the shot, I don't mind the shimmer. But, otherwise, it's very distracting, especially if the shimmer causes people's faces to distort.
What's behind the problem and what can I do to fix it? I suppose I could remove the movement from all shots but I'd REALLY like not to have to do that. There's not enough time in the world for that... Please advise.
    Diana

While it is a little hard to tell from your description, what you are probably seeing is caused by the interlaced nature of a television. There are a variety of artifacts caused by the scanning and display processes in television, and even more introduced by the compressed nature of the broadcast signal when you are watching a broadcast. Further, many cheap televisions actually discard about 1/3 of the color signal they receive.
My guess is that you are seeing flicker introduced by the interlacing. This is a well known problem, and why made for television productions do not use any strongly patterned clothing (watch your evening news, and look how they are dressed - the choices are affected by the technology). Another possiblity is dot crawl, but I am not sure how you would be seeing that.
This is not something Apple can fix. You can fix it by using images that do not contain sharp transitions between light and dark. That is, soften, not sharpen the images.

hmmmm, could you tell us what version and hardware you are running? The newer software is starting to get ahead of our older ppc's. It's quite possible that the software is just to advanced and requires an intel processer. Thanks!
