The time code will be present once the video has been imported, but to do that you need to use an analogue to digital converter such as, for example, the ADVC110.

If I go tot this window on finder and enter Time Machine I can go back and find old notes...
If so, am I doing this on my new hard drive on on the time machine? When I do this on the time machine, what is "my home"? Also, I am unable to find "containers".
If I go to users/jeff/library, then I see components, compositions, contextual, etc, but not containers.

Anyone know how to convert old audio files.
I have some old audio files going back to OS 7 or OS 9. There is no file extension.

How can I convert these into something OS X will play.That executable file type is just OSX's way of saying it doesn't know what it is. Unfortunately during the OS7-OS9 days Apple dropped using file extensions. As I transitioned from DOS to Mac in the late 1980s I kept on adding them to all my files because I used several computers and would take a floppy from one to the other and needed to know what kind of files I had on there. I still have sounds from OS7 days and I know what they are because I added extensions 24 years ago.
You might see if you can find a resource checking utility. Resources are hidden file information about creator and type in older files. I think I have one on this computer but I am running a G4 OSX 10.4.11 and it is Classic capable so I have all kinds of old software here that may not run on a newer computer.
IT is conceivable VLC might play the file. It can do all kinds of things but I don't know how good its legacy format support is. -
A mid 2010 Mac Pro, trying to get 5.1 surround out of the onboard sound software using fiber optic out connected to a Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker sys. with fiber optic in and out, all I get is stereo and simulated 5.1 sound out of the speakers. In utilities, Audio Midi Setup I can't get the Mac to see the Logitech speakers for 5.1 speaker configuration. Without being made to feel like a dummy, does anyone have a solution? Thanks, Carl
Hello John, I figured it was a signal issue. All the speakers fire and the sound is great. I was running the speakers thru a Dell PC with a Creative X-Fi Elite Pro, THX Certified, 7.1 soundcard using a fiber optic from the Mac Pro to the Z906's, it worked great until the Dell died!!! When I bought the soundcard from Creative I also bought the GigaWorks S750, THX Certified, 700 watt, 7.1 speaker system, used the speakers for 11 years and then the woofer/amp said "I QUIT" Creative quit making the speaker system and the sound card. The satellite speakers from the Creative GigaWorks speaker system still sound great (rated at 78 watt each) and are a little better speaker than the one's that came with the Z906 and the wattage from the 906 is sufficient to drive the satellites without any distortion. Thank you for addressing my issue, you confirmed what I suspected all along, just needed to hear it from someone with the same setup.
One last question, I purchased a Diamond Multimedia USB Soundcard, can't use the fiber optic(not supported by Mac) but the green, tan and black RCA's plug in and produces adequetly. When you plug your 906's into the Mac Pro using the fiber optic how do you set your speaker configuration? When I plug into the mac pro with fiber optic the 'Audio Midi Setup' does not seem to see the 5.1 configuration. Any thoughts there?

In the keynote, at the end of the iPhoto for iPad demo, there was a brief demo of a new iCloud feature that would allow sharing of photos to a web link. I'm confussed as to whether this is only in the iOS iPhoto app or, if as stated a new feature of iCloud, should it be a new feature of iPhoto 9 as well? Has anyone tried this? Is this Apple's replacement for MobileMe's iWeb and iPhoto's Gallery? If so, hooray!
G-NIt's available only in iPhoto for iOS; it's no know whether there is any intention to add it to iPhoto for Mac at a later stage.

Anyone know how to access 'APN Settings' ?
Can anyone tell me the steps to locating the APN Settings that I was told should be in the Advanced Options menu- but isn't there? I've got a BB Curve 8530 and need to make sure the TCIP selection is correct. Gotta be there somewhere- but I can't find it! Thanks! Aidan

This KB documents where to find the APN settings. Note carefully that if a theme is running, many things (including this) could be somewhere else...and the theme is in control of that, so there's no way to diagnose it. Falling back to the default theme should allow the KB to point in the correct direction.

Can't seem to change the Document Properties > Advanced > Reading Options in a Form that was created in Adobe LiveCycle. This option has been "greyed" out - anyone know how to update this to English so I can pass Accessibility Testing?
LiveCycle forms use a very different approach to create a PDF form than Acrobat and that approach makes many features for processing PDFs non-functional.
You might want to ask this question in one of the LiveCycle product forums. -

Anyone know if you can replace your .me email address for your regular email address? I'm trying to set up my iCloud acct. on my iPhone but the default email adddress is my .me email which I never used and do not know the password for. When I use the Forgot Password link, it sends to my .me email address
and I never used it and don't know how to access that address. Arg. Anyway to clean slate and permanently eliminate the .me thing?I copied the iTunes file from the external drive and it's in both places. I thought all I would need is the iTunes program (which I downloaded to new computer) and my iTunes library file. There must be something else that's missing. My iTunes library looks the same on the new computer as it does when I open it on the external drive. If I click on an iTunes library song from my new computer, it will only play if I have the external drive plugged in.
My back-up drive is a mess. I have multiple copies of music, video, photo, and document files and I don't know how that happened. ={ Obviously, I don't know how to back up stuff properly and there are back-up files extending over a 6- to 8-year period. I think all I did was just drag and drop the main folders from the back-up drive to the same main folders on the C: drive. Also (and I'm kind of fuzzy on this) Windows used to automatically save music files in a folder within my document files (which makes no sense to me). As my Jewish friends would say, "Oy Vey!" -
I don't know of there is anyone than can fix this age old Apple problem. Does anyone know how to retrieve apps under an old Apple ID when the email used for that account no longer exists & I can't remember the password? After speaking with Apple Acct. Security, I got the security Q right but my birthday was wrong! They wanted the serial number from my phone that was 3 iPhones ago! Seriously??!!
Any updated way to work around this? No Apple people can correct it.
