Is there anyway for a client to use JES IM without downloading software. If I kick off IM using the JAVA web start method, it tries to download over 5M of software. What does the Java Plug-In method do? The documentation seems to imply that it only works on Windows and it also downloads software. I have clients that do not allow software downloads from the Internet.

Its only a onetime download of IM Client jars, anyways if you don't want to download any software & want to access IM, you can use any browser-based XMPP client . A good one ir http://jwchat.sourceforge.net/. You can access IM features using this web-client through browser. But this is an open-source client & doesn't support all the features our IM server supports.

To get the user's path to their Desktop is a two step process. First, you have to echo the %USERPROFILE% to a output file and secondly, read the directory from the output file in to Forms. The code would look similar to the following:

OK, I've tried everything, looked everywhere, and from what I've looked up, it seems itunes intentionally makes it next to impossible to do it, but there was this one time, where I accessed my kindle fire music folder, and dragged and dropped the music into there and it transferred to the kindle fire. Then from there I would transfer the kindle music to itunes. But now it's not working? What happened? I accessed the kindle music folder, and couldn't transfer the songs from my ipod to there like usual. What happened? And is there ANY other way i can transfer ipod touch songs to my computer, without downloading software? I've tried looking for "ipod control" folder like people usually tell me to do, but it's not there, even if I click show hidden files and folders. Please help, emphasis on explanation as to why my ipod wont transfer music to my kindle's music folder anymore. IT WORKED BEFORE.THANK YOU FOR ALL KIND REPLIES. Zero configuration for clients to use WSUS?

Hi all,
Just wondering if it's at all possible to set up WSUS to work without any configuration on the client end of things? Or at least minimal configuration.
We're a tech store, running/working on primarily Macs. We often have client's bring PC machines in, or VMs to install on the Macs, and I'm tired of waiting for updates to download on them.
Ideally, I'd have it like OS X Cache Server, I realize this is quite a bit different than how WSUS works, but I'd like to have the ability to simply connect the client's computer to the network and have it fetch the updates from my WSUS server instead of
re-downloading them all.

No.
Or at least minimal configuration.
The minimal configuration is that you have to tell it to use WSUS and where the WSUS Server is found. This is done by setting the policy setting
Specify Microsoft intranet update server location.
We often have client's bring PC machines in, or VMs to install on the Macs, and I'm tired of waiting for updates to download on them.
The best approach here is to create two REG files and put 'em on a thumb drive. One REG file SETS the policy to point the client to your WSUS server. The other REG file UNSETS the policy so the client reverts to being what it was before.

If you publish the project, it results in either, or both, a Flash-based piece and/or an HTML-based piece.
Best to show the output from a webserver where possible, but they'll generally work fine from a local drive for review purposes.
(you can also publish to PDF, I believe, though I've never actually tried that!)

There is no real functioning Antivirus for iPad because currently there are no viruses that can affect an iPad.
The closed nature of the operating system prevents the Antivirus from installing and running itself, as well as preventing any Antivirus from being able to scan the iPad's file system in search of a virus.
So in short, usage of the iPAd is as safe as you make it.
Like has been said, don't bank in open networks, don't click on links in emails you don't recognize, don't browse sites that look shady or untrustworthy, etc...

Installation Media for Adobe Acrobat Reader and Flash without Extra Software

Is there a Installation Media format for Adobe Acrobat Reader and Flash which does not have McAfee, Google Chrome or Google Toolbar associated with the installation? This deployment is for a IT department. We do not want Google Chrome, Toolbar, or McAfee installed on our workstation, and we want to prevent our users from installing them when performing the upgrades to newer versions. We want installation media without the extra software for deployment. Does Adobe supply these?

ILife Support 9.0.4 Update for iLife 08 ~ use Updater version or download?

I have iLife 08.
In Apple Support Downloads (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1009) this update is recommended for all users of iLife ’09, iWork ’09, and Aperture. File Size: 67.13 MB.
In my Software Update panel the iLife Support 9.0.4 download is 2.3 MB.
I gather the discrepancy in File Size is because only a teeny bit of the update from 67.13 MB download is for iLife 08.
Question:
I prefer to install updates from downloads rather than from auto-Updater, will the 67.13 MB File know to install just 2.3MB of its load or should I use the Updater for this one?

you need to uninstall your cc version and install the perpetual license version.
after uninstalling, you should clean (Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6), then install lr 5.7.1.

How to include component level resources, while following the best practices.
Ex:
I am looking at the geometrixx media site in CQ 5.6. In the some of components, ex: 2-col-article-summary we have a client library defined under the component.

if i look at the categories of the clientlib, it is defined as follows
categories String[] apps.geometrixx-media, apps.geometrixx-media.2-col-article-summary
The only place this client library is included is in the head.jsp of main page level component.
<cq:includeClientLib categories="apps.geometrixx-media.all"/> - this in turn embeds the apps.geometrixx-media
my questions are as follows
1) Why do we have two categories for the clientlib, if ithe second category name( apps.geometrixx-media.2-col-article-summary) is not being used. Is there is some other usage for this i am missing.
2) Also these set of css is always included no matter whether a specific component is added to the page or not.
3) I could use the following to include the client at the component level, but this will cause unnecessary <script> and <link> elements at the component level mark up.

I dont have CQ5.6 setup so could not see referring example but by looking at description i can say
Ans 1. The client library can be invoked directly through tag lib as <cq:includeClientLib categories="category name"/> but it can also be invoked when you add "dependencies" property to client library folder and in that case it resolve all the dependencies first. So to answer your quesiton by looking at client library folder configuration you can not say that specific category has not been used any where or not invoked.
Ans 2. Invoking client library folder completely depends on your code where you are placing call for client library using <cq:includeClientLib> tag and dependencies configuration. So you have to dig it more to trace out all the calls (also default css/js loads)
Ans 3. Correct. So accomplish that best way to manage client library at component level and give it a unique name which can not be invoked any where neither through <cq:includeClientLib> call nor through dependenies configuration. This way you can avoide overridding of same library files. (Better to manage proper hierarchy of library)

Hi,
you use SCC1 can transport more than one request,
at the field of the "transport request" , you use F4 ,then pop up "select request/task" sub window, then you can selecet your own request, or input several request.
