Anyway to resize the new spotlight window?

I've stayed with Lion for a long time before getting the iMac and introduced to Yosemite. Mostly good improvement, but the new spotlight implement is killing it's efficiency big time!
Old spotlight search was on the side, and use a long vertical space to display as much info as it can suggest. Now the new spotlight, is right in the middle of the screen and blocking everything. That's not the worse, it's so tiny in size, especially on the 27 iMac, that most searched files can't even be displayed by the full name. The preview isn't really useful when the preview window is that small?
There isn't an obvious way to resize, or relocate the spotlight window. Is there a hack exist that can do this? Thanks!!

At present Spotlight window cannot be enlarged.
Sidebar and the preview window can be scrolled.

HT5361 i can't resize the new message window in mac mail.

I have OS X 10.9.1 and a MacBook Air.
When i open a new message window to type an email. It opens up as big as full screen or bigger. When I try to resize the window it won't allow me to make it any smaller.
Can anyone help?

Another quick follow-up. I have several email accounts set up within Mail and have the "Bcc" field set up so I automatically get a copy of my emails in the account from which I send the message. Setting the "Bcc" to one of my accounts triggers a jump to a large message viewer window that won't resize. Then deleting that "Bcc" listing from the message doesn't fix the problem. I have to go back to a copy of the message I've sent to myself and again click the forward icon to get a window I can resize. This problem doesn't seem to occur if I paste the offending account into the "To" field of he message, only the "Bcc' field. Go figure!

Problem with resizing the new Pages window

I can't get my Pages Window any smaller, it says (if I use Window Tidy for example) that the window size was restricted.
With the old Pages I used to have two Pages-windows open right next to each other, so I coul work on two documents at the same time. Now that i can't resize them anymore (only making them bigger is possible) they don't fit on the screen anymore.
Anyone having the same problem, maybe even a solution?

Dump Pages 5 and go back to Pages '09, then give proper feedback on either Apple's website or the App Store.
The App Store is probably the best place as it is public and a bad review has more impact than private entreaties to Apple.

Hi, where is the new event window in ical??

Hi, what I'm trying to do is to repeat an event every week for the rest of the year in ical, so I read one post which had a picture of the new event window pop up. Where is that new event window??? It doesn't pop up for me.
Here's what I do:
1. I click on File, then New Event.
2. A highlighted portion where I can write in text shows up, but then I don't know where the option to make the reminder a repeated reminder comes up.
I have Mac OS X Version 10.5.8, I believe.
Or...how do I jiust repeat an event without going to this?? I'd just like to repeant an event.
Any help??

All right, never mind, I found it myself!!! You gotta double-click (press twice on mouse area) on the highlighted portion of the text that shows up on a date.

Is there a way to specify which fields are displayed in the "new contact" window in the adress book, or at least highlight the ones that are important to me?

It would be nice if I could put together the fields in the "new contact" window in the adress book, or at least highlight the ones I need with bold letters or a different color. Is there a way? Thank you.

Can I set the position of the new mail window?

Each time I compose a new message, the new message window seems to appear at a different place, usually obscuring the main window. I would like to have it always appear to the side of the main window. Can I set this, perhaps in the property list?

Perhaps something is corrupt that is causing bad behavior for some users and so my comments are unhelpful, but here's some more data to add to this discussion: My Mail.app behaves as George Coghill described above, subsequent message windows open where the previous window was open.
For example- Close all Mail.app windows so that only the main "Message Viewer" window is open (basically, don't have any emails that you're in the middle of drafting open). Open a new message, adjust the position as you wish, then close it. When you open another new message, does it have the same position as the one you just adjusted? It should.
However, for me, sometimes it would be off by a few pixels as Thomas A Reed described above. I realized that this was because I had another compose window open in the background. So as you troubleshoot, make sure no other compose windows are open, to remove one complication and help isolate the issue.
Side note: in cases where the original window's height fully extended across the display, the new window would be shifted over to the right only, but not down at all as some apps do (like Mac Word, annoyingly). Another note: if you maximize the original window, subsequent windows also open maximized and unshifted.
A corollary to the paragraph immediately above is that if you open say 3 new windows, the second one will be shifted and the third one will be even more shifted. Let's say you send all 3, and now open a new window, it has the position of the 3rd window. Annoying. Yes, it would be nice if it always opened new windows in the exact same position, but Apple likely won't do this since people will get confused and think they lost the window if it doesn't do the shifting. I guess the take-away is draft one message at a time or maximize your composition windows, otherwise it's going to move :/
A band-aid solution: When a window isn't positioned how you like it, a quick/simple way to reposition it is with apps like Moom (my favorite), Cinch, Divvy, SizeUp, etc. While I'm at it I should mention RightZoom, which makes the green zoom button behave like the Windows maximize button, and Cordless Dog Stay, which is great if you connect/disconnect your laptop to a screen causing the window positions to always get disturbed between displays.

When Firefox desktop icon click'd for a new window, all existing windows first refresh with the new FF window on top; how to keep other windows minimized?

Oldest FF windows are overlaid by newer FF with the new FF window on top.
This wastes time & monitor-space.

This can be caused by a problem with an extension (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions)
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Previously, my new tab window would display all my favourite sites. My wife downloaded a program and now the new tab window is the Ask website.

I removed Mozilla and reloaded from your website but the Ask website still opens in the new tab window
I would like to have my favourite websites in the new tab window as they were previously.

Drill to link - How can integrate the new browser window inside the report

Hi, I'm using Discoverer Plus/Viewer 10.1.2.48.18 and I just created successfully a "Drill to Link to an Internet Page" related to my field "Ticket Id"
So, when, from Viewer, I select the link, a new tab from a new browser session is opend and I see all the details related to the Ticket Id chosen.
This is right because on the manual is written:
Discoverer behaves as follows: if you drill out to an Internet page, Discoverer displays the Internet page in a new browser window.
Now my question is this: is there a way or a workaround to integrate the new browser window's content inside my report ?
In other words, instead to see the all the Ticket id details (graphs included) in a new browser window, my customer asked me to see these details inside the same report, just below the field with the link.
Any help will be appreciated

You are welcome! I played with the 928 in a Verizon store and really liked it. Besides the great camera and Nokia Maps, I'd be pretty excited about Nokia Music, too. As I understand it, this free app lets you create playlists from its entire music library, which can be stored on your device to listen to any time.
There are a few members on the WP board who are really knowledgeable about Nokia and WP, so let us know if you have more questions.

The new Spotlight in OS 10.10.1 is troublesome

I miss the old Spotlight prior to Yosemite!
I'm asking it to search only in the computer; no outside (web) searches.
The old Spotlight let me right-click and select Get Info. The new one won't.
When I click on spotlight, the search window contains irrevelent words. For example, when I opened it an hour ago, it had the word "Kindle" in the window, which I could not delete. I have no idea where it got this, as I don't use Kindle.
Today I asked it to search "taxi", which is in my computer in only one document.
This is what I got:
I have no idea what Movie Frame Task means, nor what it means by not being able to start the application.

I have opted out of everything but: Applications, Documents, Folders, PDF, and Mail & Messages.
I asked it to locate the word "taxi", and got movie frame.
And why is it that I cannot get rid of the words in gray in the search window? Each search starts with items in grey, which were never part of any search.
And why have they taken "get info" away?

Resizing a new browser window

I am a reasonably new user of Dreamweaver CS3. I have worked
out how to use '_blank' to open a new browser window, but can
someone please help me work out how to resize that new window and
remove the navigation bars etc. I know there is the "Behaviours"
section where it lets you do this, but using this feature removes
the little hand when the mouse hovers over the image in my website.
I am reasonably new to this, so any help would be very much
appreciated.

If I understand, you are asking if this will get around Popup
Blocking
of onload events? No it will not. The onload event is, by its
nature,
an unsolicited event, and Popup blockers are designed to
prevent
precisely that.

When I click "Search" in the Firefox Google Toolbar it closes (it makes me leave) the web page I'm already on. I want to have the page I'm on and the new page available when I click "Search." Is this possible? Can I at least get a tab for the new page? thanks

I would like to recover my bookmarks from my old hard drive that I now have as an external USB drive. The old OS was Vista; the new is Windows 7.

I recently had a new hard drive installed on my laptop; this hard drive has the Windows 7 OS on it.
At the same time, I had my old hard drive mounted in an SATB enclosure so that I could use it as an external USB drive. [I stupidly did not export my bookmarks before doing all of this]
Everything seems to work fine [I can see all of the files], but I cannot find out where my bookmarks are stored on the old hard drive.
Is it possible to find them and get them transferred over to the new hard drive??

Bookmarks are stored in a file called places.sqlite inside the profile folder. You can copy that file from the old profile folder into your current profile folder.
