APD Query against ODS - BI7

Hi,
Executing a query in APD against an ODS is causing it to first do 'subselects' for each characteristic  - scanning the whole ODS to find all values - before it does the main select (again scanning the ODS I think).
If I have a FISCPER field in ODS and query, it is first selecting all the FISCPER values by joining the ODS and SID table (which is useless in my view) and seems to repeat it for each char in the query.
This happens consistently - in APD and RSCRM_BAPI, so I assume it is to do with the MDX generated for the query. The same query in Bex goes to select all the query fields in one table scan of the ODS and runs much faster (this is a huge ODS).
The same used to run fine in 3.5.
We are on SP14 and there are no notes for MDX on ODS that we could find relevant.
Any ideas?

Ajay,
Did OSS note 1016067 correct the issue?  I am experiencing the same problem at BI 7 SP16 and I doubt we will be able to apply 1016067 since it was included in SP13.
Please let me know as soon as you can.
Thanks,
Michael

  • APD : Query to ODS ?

    Dear All,
    I have to push data coming from a query report on Stock to a transactional ODS using APD.My aim is to make a multicube of this ODS and another cube. In APD the structure I made
    Query-----Filter--
    ODS.
    But in the query there is a keyfigure : Total Stock Issue Vol : (CK_TSIVOL) which is used many times using different conditions and exceptions e.g. it is used to find TRF out , F2b Issue Vol , Total Issues , Sales which are all different columns in the report . In my ODS I have included this key figure. But how do I link the different fields in query as shown above to 1 field(CK_TSIVOL) in ODS?
    Regards,
    Ratish

    Ratish,
    APD would not work with conditions.... and the best way to check the same would be to extract the query using rscrm_report or rscrm_bapi and that is the data that will go into the transactional ODS...
    As for your ODS design - create key figures in your transact ODS for the other fields and then map the query to the same...

  • APD Query populating Transactional ODS

    Hi ,
       1) How do we find out if a Transactional ODS is populated by an APD Query. Where will this information be mentioned?
       2) If we dont know the name of the APD Query, but we know the transactional ODS, can we find out the APD query name.
       3) Is an APD Query created like a normal query?
       4) If we know the name of the APD Query, then where do we go and check it?

    Hi,
    You can chek the APD using Tcode RSANWB. Check your particular APD and dbl click on that you will get all information where it is picking and where the data populating.

  • How to use one query against multiple table and recieve one report?

    I have duplicate tables, (except for their names of course) with commodities prices. They have the same column headings, but the data is different of course. I have a query that gives me a certain piece of information I am looking for but now I need to run this query against every table. I will do this every day as well, to see if the buying criteria is met. There are alot of tables though (256). Is there a way to say run query in all tables and return the results in one place? Thanks for your help.

    hey
    a. the all 256 tables whuld be one big partitoned table
    b. you can use all_tables in order to write a select that will write the report for you:
    SQL> set head off
    SQL> select 'select * from (' from dual
      2  union all
      3  select 'select count(*) from ' || table_name || ' union all ' from a
      4  where table_name like 'DB%' AND ROWNUM <= 3
      5  union all
      6  select ')' from dual;
    select * from (
    select count(*) from DBMS_LOCK_ALLOCATED union all
    select count(*) from DBMS_ALERT_INFO union all
    select count(*) from DBMS_UPG_LOG$ union all
    remove the last 'union all', and tun the generated quary -
    SQL> set head on
    SQL> select * from (
      2  select count(*) from DBMS_LOCK_ALLOCATED union all
      3  select count(*) from DBMS_ALERT_INFO union all

  • Best practice for a same query against 2 different tables

    Hello all,
    I want to extract info about tablespaces storage, both permanent and temporary. For that I use 2 different cursors that do exactly the same query but against a different table (dba_data_files and dba_temp_files).
    CURSOR permanentTBSStorageInfo (tablespaceName VARCHAR2) IS
    SELECT file_name, bytes, autoextensible, maxbytes, increment_by
    FROM dba_data_files
    WHERE tablespace_name = tablespaceName;
    CURSOR temporaryTBSStorageInfo (tablespaceName VARCHAR2) IS
    SELECT file_name, bytes, autoextensible, maxbytes, increment_by
    FROM dba_temp_files
    WHERE tablespace_name = tablespaceName;
    First I'm bothered that I have to use 2 cursors to execute the same query against 2 different tables. Is there no another way around?
    Then I fetch the results of this cursors in 2 different loops because I didn't find a way to dynamically call the cursors. I am looking for best practice here, knowing that I will do the same parsing against the results of the 2 cursors.
    Thank you,

  • Constant Selection in BEx Query Designer on BI7

    Hi guys
    According to this blog <a href="/people/prakash.darji/blog/2006/09/19/the-hidden-secret-of-constant-selection Selection</a>, we can create constant selection on both Characteristics and Key figures. I understand how to do it with restricted key figures.
    Can anyone give me a step by step guide on how to create constant selection for a Characteristic in BEx Query Designer on BI7. I can't find options for 'constant selection'
    Or is this the same thing when you include or exclude values?

    Thanks Krishna
    I am actually using a Multiprovider for my queries but business requirements mean I need to create joins.
    I am trying to avoid Infosets and I believe another way is to use the Constant Selection feature in Query Designer.
    Going back to my previous posting, I know how this is done with a restricted KF but I don't know how when it comes to characteristics.
    Can anyone help?

  • Error when running a query against Multiprovider using 0FIGL_VC1

    Hi SAP Gurus,
    I'm creating a MultiProvider for FI-GL.It has 2 Cubes.one is 0FIGL_VC1 (Virtual Cube) and other one is Customised Cube.When I run Query against this MultiProvider with  the combination of basic cubes key figures,I'm getting an error

    Hello Suman,
    Check the table rszglobv for this variable - ZCONLEH.
    If it is available there then see which infoobject it belongs to and then look for that in the query designer. May be resaving the query solves the issue.
    If the variable is not available in the table, then it seems that the variable is lost and you might have to recreate it for keeping the semantics of the query the same as it was before the upgrade.

  • Query against materialized view from stored procedure brings back empty row

    I have a stored procedure that runs a query against a materialized view. When I run the query outside the SP it works just fine. When I change the MV to a table name, the SP works. When I change it back to the MV i get an empty row. Any ideas? The code is below:
    PROCEDURE getAuth     (p_naid        IN  NUMBER,
                             p_scope       IN VARCHAR2,
                             o_xml_data    OUT SYS_REFCURSOR

      BEGIN
        IF p_scope = 'Approved' THEN
          OPEN o_xml_data FOR
            SELECT naid,
                   p_naid,
                   auth_type,
                   xml_data
            FROM some_mv
            WHERE naid = p_naid;
          RETURN;
          CLOSE o_xml_data;
    ... the rest of the procedure ...

    does procedure contain EXCEPTION handler?
    if so, then remove, delete & eliminate EXCEPTION handler (at least during testing & debugging)

  • Query on Cube jumps to Query on ODS ; Query on ODS takes Long time

    Hi All,
    Perormance Issue:  Query on Cube jumps to Query on ODS.
    Query on ODS taking long time.(JumpQuery)
    Specific to ODS Query: When i have checked the Query on ODS(individually) also taking longer time
    Actually ODS contains quite huge data. Indexes already maintained.
    I have checked the RSRT- Execute SQL and Debug Option also. Indexes maintained Perfectly .
    Order of objects in ODS indexes are matching the order of Objects in SQL stat of RSRT Trans. Inspite of that taking long time.
    I have checked both the ways jumpquery aswellas individually .
    My question is when the query is jumping from cube to query on ODS how to check the performance, how the query is executing in background when switching over to the second query, Moreover calculated keyfigure has been used for jumping to the target query.
    How can query(ods query)  time is optimized or improve performance when jumping  from query on Cube ?
    can any body help?
    Rgds,
    C.V.

    What i understand is that you need to optimise the Query jumping time . But this will be very less compared to the time taken by the query on the ODS.
    Ideally you shouldnt be making a BEx Query on the ODS , as this takes a long time. What you can do is try executing the Bex Query on the ODS to find out as to where the issue lies. If this query is taking a long time , there is not muich that you can do here.

  • Sdo_filter fail when query against a spatial view in different schema

    We have a table with X,Y coordinates and would like to run spatial query against it. We do not want to change the table structure, so we opt to use a function based index. USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA is updated and index is built. Then we created a view with spatial column from the table. Everything works fine with the user who owns the table and view.
    When we try to run a spatial query against the view from a different user, it failed with error. However, if we substitute the select from my_view* with the actual SQL statement that created the view, it works. So it looks like Oracle refuse to acknowledge the spatial index if accessed via view. Here is some simplified scripts:
    --- connect as USER1.
    --update meta data
    INSERT INTO USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA ( TABLE_NAME, COLUMN_NAME, DIMINFO, SRID ) VALUES
    ('LOCATIONS', 'MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(2001,2264,SDO_POINT_TYPE(NVL(X_COORD,0),NVL(Y_COORD,0),NULL),NULL,NULL)',
    SDO_DIM_ARRAY( SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('X', 1300000, 1600000, 1), SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('Y', 400000, 700000, 1) ), 2264 );
    --created index
    CREATE INDEX LOCA_XYGEOM_IDX ON LOCATIONS
    ( SDO_GEOMETRY(2001,2264,SDO_POINT_TYPE(NVL(X_COORD,0),NVL(Y_COORD,0),NULL),NULL,NULL)

    CREATE VIEW USER1.MY_VIEW AS SELECT ID ,X_COORD,Y_COORD, SDO_GEOMETRY(2001,2264,SDO_POINT_TYPE(NVL(X_COORD,0),NVL(Y_COORD,0),NULL),NULL,NULL) SHAPE
    FROM USER1.LOCATIONS WHERE X_COORD>0 AND Y_COORD>0;
    -- run spatial query from view, works fine by user1 by failed on user2.
    SELECT SHAPE FROM (
    SELECT * FROM USER1.MY_VIEW
    ) a WHERE sdo_filter (shape, sdo_geometry ('POLYGON ((1447000 540000, 1453000 540000, 1453000 545000, 1447000 545000, 1447000 540000))', 2264), 'querytype=window') = 'TRUE';
    -- run spatial query from table directly, simply replace the view with actual statements that created the view. works fine by user1 AND user2.
    SELECT SHAPE FROM (
    SELECT ID ,X_COORD,Y_COORD, SDO_GEOMETRY(2001,2264,SDO_POINT_TYPE(NVL(X_COORD,0),NVL(Y_COORD,0),NULL),NULL,NULL) SHAPE
    FROM USER1.LOCATIONS WHERE X_COORD>0 AND Y_COORD>0
    ) a WHERE sdo_filter (shape, sdo_geometry ('POLYGON ((1447000 540000, 1453000 540000, 1453000 545000, 1447000 545000, 1447000 540000))', 2264), 'querytype=window') = 'TRUE';
    When run against the view by user2, the error is:
    ORA-13226: interface not supported without a spatial index
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.MD", line 1723
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.MDERR", line 8
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_3GL", line 1173
    13226. 00000 - "interface not supported without a spatial index"
    *Cause:    The geometry table does not have a spatial index.
    *Action:   Verify that the geometry table referenced in the spatial operator
    has a spatial index on it.
    Note, the SELECT SHAPE FROM (****) A WHERE SDO_FILTER(....) syntax is a third party application, all we have control is the part inside "(select ...)".
    So it appears Oracle is treating view differently. Have attempted fake the view name into USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA, did not work. Also, granted select on the index table to user2, did not work.
    if we re-created the view in user2 schema, it worked for user2 but not user1, so it's not something we can do for every user.
    Searched the forum, no good match found. A few posts talked about "union all" in view caused the problem but I do not have the union.
    We are only use Oracle 10g Locator, not full spatial edition.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    It seems a bug, where a function-based spatial index is not correctly handled in a view query transformation.
    Not sure if the following works for you or not.
    add a new column "shape" (mdsys.sdo_geometry) in table locations, use a trigger and x_coord/y_coord
    to set values for this new column, and just create a normal spatial index on this new column. (drop the
    function-based spatial index). And create a view like:
    CREATE VIEW USER1.MY_VIEW2 AS SELECT ID , X_COORD, Y_COORD, SHAPE
    FROM USER1.LOCATIONS WHERE X_COORD>0 AND Y_COORD>0;

  • XMII query against a SAP NetWeaver database

    Hi all,
    I have set up a data server for a SAP NetWeaver MSSQL database (DX1 on SAPSRV03) for SAP Web AS 6.40. The status of this data source shows OK. I try to create a new query template. In the SQL Query details, I can see the list of the tables and the list of the columns from a selected table. However, the test result always shows an error: “A SQL Error has occurred on query, [SAPSRV03\DX1]Invalid object name 'TMP_PRD_LINES'” It does not work for any table from that database, so it seems that the error has nothing to do with the table name.
    If I change the database name of that data server to something else, like pubs or Northwind, on the same SQL server, the query works well with any table.
    I wonder whether there is any special parameters that I need to set up so that I can query against a NetWeaver database.
    I’ll appreciate any advice on this problem!
    Best regards,
    Hart

    Hart,
    We are able to query a Netweaver DB, but we needed to include a schema.
    Your query to the TMP_PRD_LINES table should look like the following:
    Select * from SAPDX1DB.TMP_PRD_LINES
    Working with you through support I know that this worked for you - I am just wanted to post the answer for everyone to see.
    Thanks,

  • The query against the database caused an error in https: site

    Hi
    I have created a new Data source and External content type in sharePoint 2013
    I have also given all the permission to this Content type (including "Users(Windows)")
    I also having edit permission in the Sql-database.
    I have tied almost all the possibilities given in the net for this error.
    still the error("the query against the database caused an error") is there.
    Is this because of "https:/ " in the url?

  • Querying against multiple subject areas

    We would like to write a query against two or more subject areas. Is that possible in OBI EE 10g? Looks like this is a feature available in Business Objects and our users are requesting it. Please suggest how it can be done.

    Hi Nico,
    You are correct, OBIEE 10g will let you use UNION statements in the complex SQL. In fact you can use "Combine with Similar Request" to drive a UNION, UNION ALL and MINUS statement from the Criteria tab without having to go to advanced settings.
    What we were trying to say above was that it doesn't let you JOIN two subject areas together. For example,
    SELECT SUBJECT_AREA1.COLUMN1, SUBJECT_AREA2.COLUMN2
    FROM SUBJECT_AREA1, SUBJECT_AREA2
    WHERE SUBJECT_AREA1.KEY = SUBJECT_AREA2.KEY
    The above just isn't possible.
    One thing you can do that sort of accomplishes it (but it behaves really kludgey) is use the union statement + null/0 place holders + group by statement. This is a pain though. For example:
    1) Your Logical SQL should be something like:
    SELECT SUBJECT_AREA1.COMMON_DIMENSION, SUBJECT_AREA1.MEASURE1, 0 MEASURE2
    FROM SUBJECT_AREA1
    UNION
    SELECT SUBJECT_AREA2.COMMON_DIMENSION, 0 MEASURE1, SUBJECT_AREA2.MEASURE2
    FROM SUBJECT_AREA2
    2) In the criteria tab, create new aggregate columns based on MEASURE1 and MEASURE2 grouped by COMMON_DIMENSION. For example:
    NEW_MEASURE1= SUM(MEASURE1 by COMMON_DIMENSION)
    NEW_MEASURE2=SUM(MEASURE2 by COMMON_DIMENSION)
    ***I think you have to reference the saw name and not the logical name at this point. Hence it may read something like: SUM(saw1 by saw0) and SUM(saw2 by saw0)
    3) Throw the COMMON_DIMENSION, NEW_MEASURE1, NEW_MEASURE2 into a pivot table and you're all set.
    Like I mentioned, it behaves very strangely and is a pain to implement, but it does display the expected results a join would.

    Hi,
    You might be able to use the MW view after calling dbmswm.SetMultiWorkspaces and specifying only the workspace that you care about. However, this view is read only and has some additional metadata columns and so may not be what you are looking for. Other than using this view however, you need to call GotoWorkspace.
