APEX 3.1.2 Interactive Report bug

When you click on a column header of an Interactive Report, a dropdown menu appears which contains a text field that filters the list that is shown beneath it. When you TYPE some text into the field in Internet Explorer 7 and then select a value from the list beneath it with your mouse, the typed value is somehow remembered and reappears in the text field of other column header menus.
I don't know whether this has been solved in 3.2.

Is it normal for two pages in the same application to use the same static ID for their regions or is that the exceptional case?

I also can reporduce this error. When i have an interactive report in which the sorting works properly and i copy this page to a new page i get a report in which the interactive report sorting is not working.
Can you please help me in resolving the issue, or is this a known bug ?

    Hello,
I came across the same issue. I made a test IR report with the following query
    SELECT '<span class="blue">'||id||'</span>'||name as n_name, id
    FROM
    +(SELECT ''||fullname||'' name, id from users)+
It all works fine on FF but IE returns this

  • APEX: Show description in Interactive Report column

    Hi experts!
I need to show title and description in the headings of an interactive report in APEX. So when the user places the mouse on the heading of the column, a description message is displayed.
In the heading field, I have introduced this string:
    <SPAN TITLE = "Secció Numèrica">SC.N.</SPAN>
Where "Secció Numèrica" is the description and SC.N. is the title.
This works fine in the report and the description is shown, but the problem is:
When the user click on the 'select columns to display' action, the displayed label is
    <SPAN TITLE = "Secció Numèrica">SC.N.</SPAN>
instead of "SC.N." or "Secció Numèrica".
Obviously the customer does not want to see that string. I have been looking for any solution in manuals and forums but with no results.
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Javier

    It is solved.
The customer is happy having the description displayed in the Help Text section, so it is shown with the info tag.

  • Apex 3.1. Interactive Report. Questions and Problems.

    Hello!
First of all I'd like to say Interactive Report is a really really brilliant feature, it covers exactly that points which we were missing in previous releases of Apex. Only this single feature makes Apex 3.1 release most significant for us since may be HTML DB 1.6. So much much thanks!
So I have some questions about Interactive Report (IR):
    1) About "Save Report" feature. It is possible there to save own version of report layout or overwright the default settings. There is also possibility to completelly disable this function. So the question is it possible to disable only the ability to overwright the default report but give the ability to save own reports. It would be reasonable since too smart or too dum users can break the default layout of report and break the work for other users which don't use this function at all. At the same time the possibility to save own reports
    is absolutelly perfect
    2) Search. I'm from Germany and we have some national non-english symbols. The IR can't perform seach correctly if we use words with such symbols. Example word "Bestätigt" is interpreted by IR as "Bestätigt". At the same time the words are correctly displayed in reports and in interface. We have correct NLS_LANG, we have imported the lang_de.sql , and our own self-made search on simple reports works ok. What's to do?
    3) Charts in IR. Is there some data volume limits for Chart in IR ? sometimes we get the message "Loading XML...100%" during chart rendering and then happens nothing. In log file of Apache there is no any error messages...
    Thanks in advance,
    Alex

    Hi Alex,
Glad to hear you're putting interactive reports to use, we put in a lot of time trying to get them right (at least for their first release).
    1) The "Save As Default Report Settings" option is only available for Developers, so you can only see it if you already see the developer toolbar at the bottom of the page. Standard end-users can't see this, so they can't save over your default report settings.
    2) That's right, the character set of the DAD needs to be AL32UTF8.
    3) A maximum of 1000 chart points will be returned, but you should not get this error. Can you describe the columns you are charting and the chart settings?

  • Upgraded from APEX 3.1 to APEX 4.0.2, Interactive reports broken

I just recently upgraded from APEX 3.1 to APEX 4.0.2.
    Am using IE 8.
Now whenever I click on a column header in an interactive reports I get a javascript error:
    Message: Expected ')'
    Line: 1
    Char: 40984
    Code: 0
    URI: http://patchx:8080/i/javascript/apex_4_0.js
Am at my wits end on this one.
I can't see anybody else who has hit this error.
    The demo application works okay.
I set up an interactive report with the same properties as the demo app, but i still get the error.
    Any clues?

AHA, I just figured out what is making this happen.
I have a custom authorization scheme which calls a PLSQL function.
I had set the authorization scheme to "Once Per Page View".
This was causing the error to happen, although I still don't know why.
Unfortunately it is a problem because I need to authorize on each page.
This is because my plsql function must allow the login page authorization so we can capture the username to check against permissions. So I autmatically return true on the login page. But that means anybody can get in, because that is the once per session authorization as specified.

  • APEX Print Attributes for Interactive Reports versus Reports

The Print Attirbutes tab for Interactive Reports does not have the Enable Report Printing option that the same tab does for Reports. The Enable Reports option when set to Yes" puts a print link on the Reports page. Since, the option doesn't appear for under the Print Attributes tab for Interactive Reports, how can I get a print link appear on an Interactive Report page?

    Hi,
Those links are visible to end user in action menu -> Download

  • Apex 4.0.1 Interactive Reports lost after application import

Hello, After importing the application, in order to upgrade it (using the same app id across environments), users' saved Reports were lost. I've read former posts regarding this issue, but they were pretty old (from 2008/2009) and refer to Apex 3.2. Has anyone experienced this problem with 4.0.1? If so, is there a fix or way to work around it? Thank you.

  • Saved Interactive Reports after APEX Upgrade

    Hi,
When you do an APEX Upgrade are saved interactive reports kept?
    Martin

I have been experiencing lost saved "as Named Report" Interactive reports, whenever I migrate the application from test to prod.
    To clarify how we operate.
We have a test APEX environment that is separate to production. The Test app has a different App_id but uses the same schema name. In test the application Id is 1xxx (eg 1201) and in test 2xxx (2201). I export Test 1201 and then import into Prod changing the App_id to overwrite 2201. I always lose the saved reports. I just tried an experiment of creating the saved report in Test and seeing if it migrates to prod, but of course it does not.
How should I operate the two different Test and Prod environment to be "best practice" and not lose "as Named Report" Interactive report saved by the end-user?
    thanks Peter

  • Error in exporting from Interactive Report to PDF format

    Hello,
i am using APEX and from an Interactive Report i am trying to export using Download | PDF format. The table and corresponding report has only text fields. Database character set is UTF-8. Up to now i haven't been able to get a PDF file that can be open from Adobe Acrobat Reader. Every file fails opening with message like "Adobe Reader could not open filename.pdf, because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). This happens for every report i have tried up to now. If i export report in CSV format all are ok.
Is there a known bug with PDF download of APEX?
    TIA

    See this link: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/configure_printing.html
FOP & Cocoon are free (just need to install the software and configure) Bi Publisher I believe works only for Standard Reports and no Interactive reports at this time.. If you have the $$ BI Publisher is worth the investment!!
Also, it is rumored that APEX 4.0 will have the PDF generation built in as apposed to the current model where you need to bolt something on..
    Thank you,

  • Users unable to change their interactive reports

What tables and fields control what user can change the report? a bit of history: Due to the terrible bug that plauges apex where user created interactive reports dont get promoted with code changes when promoting from dev to prod environments, we had to figure out a work around so that the users tabs and filters would show up. Now, several weeks after fixing this in the main table(APEX_030200.WWV_FLOW_WORKSHEET_RPTS), the users are now trying to modify the reports but apex just gives the spinng/hourglass when the user clicked the update/save button and it never comes back. Down at the bottom in of the screen apex reports that "error on page". Thats all we have to troubleshoot as far as feedback error messages.
We have a work around where the user makes changes to their report and then saves it as a different name(they've been adding a "1" on the end). This workaround is making them upset and I suspect its just a flag in some table's field that needs changing. Anyone know/experience this from the install/report bug?
    Thanks,
    Dave

I am running into almost the exact problem. My version is that there is one eul default for every user and no matter how many they have access to, the tools\options\eul tab does not allow them to change the eul. I am still searching for an answer if I find something I will post it for you.
    Thanks,

  • Chart in Interactive Report always returns IO Error

    Hi everyone,
Recently our company has a web application project that utilizes APEX and its powerful Interactive Report.
However, everytime when we try to generate a chart based on the IR (by going to the "cog" and pick "chart"), we will get this "IO Error".
For the last couple of days I have been researching on the net for solutions but still no luck on how to fix this problem.
I have used Firefox to check into the source code of the page.
To my surprise is that calling just the chart component is fine (the swf file does load up and wait for data), and so is calling that lengthy "...apex_util.flash2?..." xml-file under the variable "FlashVar" (an xml file is returned correctly).
But when the chart is called in the IR it just keeps displaying "IO Error".
This web app is hosted behind a reverse proxy server. Moreover, upon testing it is confirmed that the chart will be able to generate if the IP of the server is used to access the app... but not with the proxy domain name.
Using the plain server IP is not an option as this IP cannot be accessed from outside of the company; all traffic is routed via the domain proxy server.
It seems as is the proxy server is doing something in the middle, but I can't seem to find any information regarding conflicts between proxy server and anychart anywhere on the net.
I did find some information about Flash and crossdomain data access, and had created the "crossdomain.xml" file under the root directory of the data server as instructed from Anychart documentation and Adobe Flash Support TechNote (http://www.anychart.com/products/anychart/docs/users-guide/security-error.html and http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14213.html).
However it still does not solve the IO Error problem.
Please help! My team do have a demo approaching next week.
    Sincerely,
    Nelson

  • Filtering Interactive Report which has combo box

    Hi,
I am a rookie in apex.I have an interactive report in which I have a column which contain's only combo box's. Let me say for example that the display values are Yes and No and the return values are Y and N and the name of the column as "required". When I try to filter the report, I can do so for all the other column's but when I try to do so for this column, I get two combo box's when I click on the expression filter instead of the Yes or No choices. I want the choices to appear in the filter for 'required' column instead of the combo box's. How can I do this? ...I have been searching google in vain...Thanks in advance

Do I have to recompile this .rdf on the UNIX box again? No.
How to go about this problem?Have a look at the following notes:

  • Set default search column in Interactive Report

    Hi All:
In APEX 4.0, for "Interactive Report" search function:
If user doesn't select a column name to search for (this is done by click Magnifier glass icon), the IR will search "All Columns" that contains a string you have typed in the search bar.
Is there a way to configure IR so that, by default, it will not search "All Columns", instead, it should search a particular column that I will specify when define this IR report.
Why I am asking this? Here is my case:
I have created a IR report to search employee information. By default, when user enters a string in the search bar, user want to search "Emploee Full Name" column in my IR report. User wants this default search behavior and really doesn't want to "click Magnifier glass icon and select "Employee Full Name" column; then type the search string).
Basically, in my case, the IR report should default to search "Employee Full Name" if user doesn't select any search column.
Any idea how to achieve this?
    Thanks!
    Kevin

In the above DA, Changing the 'Event Scope' to 'Dynamic' should trigger it after PPR. I tried it but it's not working for me.
Try the below it's working for me as expected,
    Create DA like below,
    Event: After Refresh
    Selection Type: Region
    Region: Select your IR region
    In True Action,
    Action: Execute Javascript Code
    Code:
    $s('apexir_SEARCH_COLUMN_DROP','COLUMN_LABEL');
    $s('apexir_CURRENT_SEARCH_COLUMN', 'COLUMN_ALIAS');
    In Affected Element,
    Selection Type: Region
    Region: Select your IR region
    Event Scope: bind (Default)
Make sure Fire On Page Load under 'Execution Option' is checked. (i.e. Fire On Page Load: Yes)
I am using APEX 4.0.2.00.07. It's working for me also in apex.oracle.come it's working in my example application.
    Thanks

  • Interactive Reports using Collections

I need to prepare queries dynamically using PLSQL on apex 3.2; Since interactive reports are currently supported only using SQL queries , I am storing the results in a collection and then retrieving the results from the collection. I got this working and my report is returning the expected results, but I am running into a couple of issues.
    1. One of my reasons for switching to interactive report feature is to be able to let the user apply aggregate functions like sum, avg. etc. on numeric columns. But since the datatype for all collection columns are of type string , I can't use the aggregate functions now. Is it possible to change the string datatype to another datatype?
    2. the column headers are C01, C02 .. C50 ; Based on user input values, the actual query that is chosen to run is dynamically determined and the no. and the order of columns returned can vary depending on the query that was run. So I cannot manually change/map the C01, C02 ... headers to the column header names that I want. How do I dynamically generate the column headers?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi Bill,
Without knowing more about the PL/SQL code, the underlying tables and the select statements used, it is difficult to say.
I would firstly check that I had indexes on the right column or combination of columns. One minute sounds a lot for a query to me, but that may be ok if the tables are very large and the PL/SQL has to do a fair bit to construct the output. You could also do an Explain Plan for any query to check to see if indexes are being used if they exist - this would also show up any part of a query that takes an inordinate amount of time.
I assume that the PL/SQL is only run once even if the page is reloaded multiple times? However, once the collection has been created, the report itself should be fairly quick as it should be just a simple select over the collection data. Switching on the debug mode should help identify which part is taking the time.
