  • Apex error - A maximum of 100 columns can be selected

    Greetings!!
    Version:
    Oracle 11.2
    Apex 4.1
    I have a dynamic classic report which brings back the result through a function. The report result shows data by week based on the dates selected. When the report has more than 100 columns I am getting the error - 'A maximum of 100 columns can be selected'. Is there a way to avoid the 100 columns limit in the report? Also is it possible to export the report to CSV file directly without getting this error in the report page?
    We are planning to upgrade to 4.2. Has this limitation been fixed in 4.2?
    Thanks,
    SS

    You can create a custom procedure to generate data in csv format and print it to browser.

  • APEX error: Found dead shared server

    Hi,
    I frequently encounter an error when working with APEX. If I submit any change to APEX, fi a change on some page item, APEX asks me to whether I'd like to save the wwv_flow_accept URL. I then get a file save dialog. This doesn't happen all the time, but something like 2 out of 10 times I submit something.
    Looking at the database logs, I see an entry in alert.log with this information:

    Best regards,

    Hi,
    I took a bit of time to dig deeper into this issue. I came to the conclusion that there is a bug in Oracle XE:
    If you connect to Oracle XE database using the EPG path and if you create a report that gets its data over a database link, the shared server processes used to connect to the database break.
    What I did to produce this error:
    I installed Oracle XE Universal Edition on a Windows XP system
    I then updated APEX to the latest version 3.2
    At the database I simply created a database link pointing to the same schema the APEX-application is running at. I tested the database link.
    I then produced a simple test application with just one Report (I also tried a PPR-report with the same result) that displays orders with a query in line with this:
    <pre>
    select o.order_id, i.order_item_id, i.quantity, p.product_name, i.unit_price, i.unit_price * i.quantity amount
    from demo_orders@ckh o, demo_order_items@ckh i, demo_product_info@ckh p
    where o.order_id = i.order_id
    and i.product_id = p.product_id
    order by o.order_id, i.order_item_id
    </pre>
    When I ran this application, I was sometimes able to see the report without an error, sometimes a shared server process broke. You can watch the processes breaking by opening the admin/bdump directory and see how the database writes trace files for the shared server processes.
    Interesting to see is that the error happens not only when you try to see the report. If you hit the edit page link while running the page or if you submit the page definition with the link query in it, the same is likely to happen. You can see this error happening when APEX offers you to download the call to wwv_flow or the f-procedure. The contents of this download then is:
    <pre>IBMPC/WIN_NT-8.1.0</pre>
    with some binary information in front of the message.
    Another bug I'd like to add came up when I was lucky to see the report with the PPR-template. I tried pagination but this wouldn't work. Looking into this, I found the following link:
    <pre>
    javascript:html_PPR_Report_Page(this,'R2060428410112776','javascript:$a_report('2060428410112776','16','15','15');')
    </pre>
    To my understanding this can't work at all if you look a the apostrophes. So how to proceed with this???
    This to me is a severe problem, as I wanted to utilize APEX as a frontend for a production database to report the contents. I was informed by Varad that a way around this is to use an Apache access to Oracle XE but as far as I'm informed, this forces me into a licenced version in order to be able to run mod_plsql.
    I read about the mod_owa-approach, but the programmers state that this is not compatible with APEX. So my question is: Do you have any suggestion on how to proceed with this?
    Thanks,
    Jürgen

  • APEX Error: Current version of data in database has changed since user init

    Hi:
    APEX 4.1
    I have a page with 2 regions. The first region is built with custom SQL using the APEX APIs. I have a process the can successfully update records.
    I built the second region with the tabular form wizard. This created the multi row update process.
    I created a region button and the two process respond to that button: process for first region, then process for the second region.
    When I add data to the second region and click the region button, I get the following error:
    Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current row version identifier = "A884FA378C851786DDFE3A33709CB23C" application row version identifier = "9ED06A0F09F80F054AB781CA24CC4CBF"
    I know it has something to do with these two types of regions being on the same page, because when I create a page of just the table form, the data is updated.
    Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong?
    Thanks.

    Hello
    If you try update the same data from 2 places you will got this message because:
    Apex forms have locking mechanism.
    1. During fetch data to form apex calculate checksum from every items on the forms.
    2. Before update process apex again fetch data from database (in background) and calculate checksum again if checksum from point 1 is the same like this checksum APEX realy update data with new item values. If no, You will got your error (apex secure You, You realy don't know what you update).
    According this if you change data which you use in the form between 1 and 2 point you will got this "error". You can check it for example if you change data from SQL/Plus or from other form.
    Probably you forget about this locking mechanism during designe your process from APEX API <- successfully update records (maybe successful but you don't know what you updated) : )
    If I helped You please check correct or helpful :)

  • Weird APEX error when refreshing report

    Hi All,
    I am trying to refresh a report with dynamic action. And getting the following errors:
    {"dialog":{"uv":true,"row":[{"V":"Widget Failure
    ORA-20876: Stop APEX Engine,
    classic_report"}]}}
    I have identified the problematic part. I have a multi-select select list and my query goes like this:
    select o.order_id, s.salesrep_name
    from ml_orders o, ml_order_salesrep_mapping m
    where m.order_id(+) = o.order_Id
    and case when :P22_SALESREP is null then 1
    when :P22_SALESREP IS NOT NULL and m.salesrep_id in (:P22_SALESREP) then 1
    else 0
    end = 1Previously this line: when :P22_SALESREP IS NOT NULL and m.salesrep_id in (:P22_SALESREP) then 1 used to be just when :P22_SALESREP IS NOT NULL and m.salesrep_id i=:P22_SALESREP then 1 and it would work. But have requirement to make this select list multi-select.
    Any help appreciated.
    Using Apex 4.2, classic report with refresh by dynamic action upon button click.

    select * from table where columnvalue in (7788, 7839, 7876)<tt>(7788, 7839, 7876)</tt> is an expression list and the predicate is evaluated as a membership condition.
    In

    See +varying elements in IN list+ on Ask Tom, and +emulating string-to-table functionality using sql+ for potential solutions.
    In an APEX standard report, use a PL/SQL function body returning an SQL query report source with lexical substitution to produce a "varying IN-list":
    return 'select * from emp where empno in (' || :P1_X || ')';where <tt>P1_X</tt> has been sanitized for SQL injection and string values are properly quoted if necessary.

    Just few minutes after asking this question on forum, I was able to find the workaround for opening the DashboardDesigner.exe.
    What I was trying earlier was that, In my "Business Intelligence Center" site,  i was trying to open the Dashboard Designer from "PerformancePoint Content" list by clicking "New Item" from "Items" tab in Ribbon.
    Instead Now I go to the connections library "Data Connections",  Go to "Documents" tab in Ribbon and then click on "New Document".
    Voila!
    Finally "DashboardDesinger.exe" opens up! :D
    Now from this designer application, I can add other Lists directly and can add "PerformancePoint Content" list for creating actual ScoreCards, Dashboards, KPIs etc.

  • Browser error on APEX Login Page

    Good morning,
    Version Information:
    - APEX 3.1.1
    - Database 11.1.0.6.0
    - Application Server: 10.1.3
    I'm using the APACHE install on my APP server to connect to APEX.
    When I connect to the APEX_ADMIN login page, after filling in the blanks, I get a browser error message, not an APEX error. The "caution" icon pops up on the status bar at the bottom of the browser window. When I look at the message, it says:
    Line: 34
    Char: 1
    Error: Object expected
    Code: 0
    URL: http://<myservername>:7778/pls/apex/f?p=4550:10:7817059686490562
    That URL, of course is the login page.
    When I checked the status, the install completed successfully. I am listening on port 7778 mainly because those that came before me configured the app server's http.conf with 7778.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks,
    Don.

    Thank you for your responses,
    Yes, I'm pretty sure that my image alias is correct (see my DADS.CONF listing below).
    I am NOT upgrading from 3.0, this is a new, clean install. I'm still checking other possible causes. Not sure where to go next.

  • Apex 4.1 Custom error function and page rendering

    Hi
    I have setup a demo application at http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=19820:1 which is a simple testing application for testing of the apex_error_handling_example function Patrick wolf put into Oracle documentation. I have setup a error on the page rendering of page 2 in the application. The error process contain this simple error code declare
    v_id number;
    begin
    select 'x' as one into v_id from dual;
    end;
    which generate plsql numeric or value error. The process is running before regions on page rendering on page 2. I have also created the same error process on page processing before DML processing on the page. When i insert apex_error_handling_example into the application level and run the application the error is not caught and the page is rendered as nothing was wrong. When the page is submitted the error function is executed and work correct.
    When i remove the error function from the application the error is caught and displayed on the APEX error page with the detail link for drill down to show more about the error.
    Any which can tell what is wrong with the setup i have done. The error function apex_error_handling_example setup is simply a copy/paste from the documentation with some few debug message put into a logging table.
    kindest regards
    jon

    Hi
    Yes, when you submit the page the page processing is displaying the error message inline, but it does not show the same error on page rendering for page 2, if i remove the custom error function it will show the error on APEX separate error page. The debug output from the page 1 is as following:

  • Throw user defined Errors from within built in apex procedures

    Hi all
    The task at hand is I have a tabular form with add row button. On click of this button, the built in add row to a form type of process is called. The table in which this row is being added has some Foriegn key constraints and some other check constraints.
    What I want is if during insertion in the table, if there is a foreign key voilation and the process fails, I should be able to throw a user defined exception.
    And moreso, I want to throw this in the notification area and not the error page.
    Any thoughts??
    Regards
    Shantanu Dhanuka

    Hi Shantanu,
    If you want to capture exceptions raised by the wizard created MR* processes, you have to complete replace this processes with your own processes where you do the insert/update/delete. Don't forget to add the code for the optimistic locking.
    About showing the error in the notification area, see my blog posting at
    http://inside-apex.blogspot.com/2006/12/hacking-apex-error-page.html
    which is able to do that.

  • Error using apex.confirm(pMessage,pOptions)

    I am using apex.confirm to set a page item value and submit a request. The confirmaiton dialog appears as expected, but when I press confirm on the dialog box, I get the following APEX error:
    Error Checksum error for Hidden and Protected item ID (16001878089456533551), value (6825), posted checksum (76E8FCF64C88C882087F029F766E0F7C), expected checksum (********************************), index_i (1), index_j (1), index_m (1);
    Anyone know how to correct this? Thanks in advance.

    My guess is that you are modifying an item in the code that executes when the confirm box returns true and the item in question is defined as hidden and protected.
    Either change the item to hidden (not hidden and protected) or do not modify the item.
