API packages

Hi, I'm new to Java and would like to know which packages of the APIs are consider to be the base packages? Thanks in advance.

I would venture to say that there are no base packages in theory. The API's that you choose are completely dependent upon the intent of you application.
If you are doing database projects then you need to use the packages specific to databases.
If you are wanting a fancy GUI, then you will use the packages specific to AWT or Swing.
Begin by looking through a java programming tutorial and this should give you a better understanding.

    I'm trying to find the session api package (wwsto_api_session) which is documented in the Oracle PDK for Portal 3.0 This package isn't listed among the plsql owned by the portal30 user in our installation. Has anyone found the package, or is there a script that needs to be run in order to generate the package?

  • Reports6i: Server job queue API package

    Hi,
    Has anyone tried editing the reports server job queue API (rw_server.clean_up_queue)? I don't want the queue table (RW_SERVER_QUEUE) to be truncated each time the server is shutdown and re-started.
    (By the way, it's mentioned in the Publishing Reports manual that we can edit the API package to override the default behaviour)
    I did the following:
    1. I commented the truncation commands in the rw_server.clean_up_queue function
    2. Stop and re-start the server.
    3. The reports server inserts duplicate records for scheduled jobs.
    Apparently, Oracle Reports server component stores job queue information somewhere on the hard disk(c:\orant\reports60\server) and re-inserts that info. to the database table on queue startup without checking for duplicate job_ids.
    I would appreciate if someone could try this and confirm it. Is this a bug?

  • API/package/procedure/function for updating physical attributes in Org/Mast

    I need some kind of procedure or function for updating the weight, volume, and dimensions in the organization and master items forms. We have almost 350,000 items and I want to update them in batch. Is there an API of some kind for this? I would do a simple update but I want to make sure there's no additional logic necessary (other tables that are updated during the process of updating those fields, etc).

  • What Are Some Good API Packages For Bar Code Scanners?

    Hi,
    I am trying to write a program where a user can scan a bar code on a part and it's information will be matched on our database and retrieved from there. My main problem is finding a good package and method to take bar code scanner inputs on a desktop computer.

    There aren't any classes in the API to do that, but there are 3rd party libraries that can do that. Just google.

  • Netbeans API package not found

    I�m using NetBeans to develop a J2ME midlet. I want to use the MMAPI. When I try to import the corresponding package using "import javax.microedition.media.*;" Netbeans tells me that this package does not exist.
    But when I compile the project it works fine. It seems so that only the IDE does not know the package.
    Could somebody help?

    With a proper hint from another forum, I solved the problem. I deleted the <user-dir>/var/cache and now it works.

  • Optional API Packaging In a Midlet

    I'm working on a project where I am writing a J2ME client application for a range of devices that will communicate with a remote server using web services. The problem is that not all of the devices I will be supporting have JSR 172 available to them. I've located a number of workarounds (including investigating KSoap) but my company's preference is to use a standard implementation.
    One workaround I've found, that works quite well is taking the reference implementation of JSR 172 from the Java.net project page and embedding it in the project, altering the package of the source files (so that it works with devices that already have JSR 172 as well as those that don't have it). The SCSL implies that commercial applications built using the library need to be licensed commercially, but everyone I've contacted at Sun seems like they've never heard of anything like this (phone support says that they don't sell it so they don't know how to handle it). Is SCSL obsolete, now that J2ME is open sourced under GPLv2 (and they just haven't updated all the code licensed on Java.net yet)? Or are things on the old Java.Net project pages still only provided under the original SCSL?
    Does anyone out there have information about where I should look / who I should talk to regarding this issue?

    There's nothing like RandmAccessFile in midlets, but there is a way, you can read (only!) a file from jar.
    Here's the code:
    InputStream is = this.getClass().getResourceAsStream("<path_to_the_file>");
    DataInputStream dis = new DataInputStream(is);Then you can read the stream with any of the metods provided.

  • API packages for Microsoft Project or Primavera

    Hi,
    I am working on a web project where one of the requirement is, when user completes and submits his project data, the data should be displayed in ms project or in Primavera format in a separate window. Can any body tell me is this feesible, if so do we have any java based API's for this.

    we are in the analysis phase, currently i am doing fesable analysis. This is going to be a web application only. My requirement is, project task data such as task name, start date, end date, predecesor, resource name etc., will be available in a database and these data should be shown dynamically in .mpp format or in primavera format, the way we can create .pdf file dynamically. I would like to know whether this is possible or not,if possible how to procee..?

    Any time I try to run a demo of a 3D program, it says all these are non existant, but Ive installed them and reinstalled it a few times

    Hmm maybe your IDE then is the cause.

    I use it for all Java3D stuff, and I've programmed it (it's free with source).
    If you add the java3d jar files to the project, you have
    codecompletion for that too.

    Note, however that you cannot revert back to original un-wrapped code from a code that has been wrapped. You would need access to the original source files to get the original source code.
