Appending database tables to a form for reference

Hi Guys,
I would like to create a form that refers to database tables (not big). I would like to embed these tables in my form so that each form can be referenced directly.
Can someone point me to any tutorials explaining this or point me to an example?

Saving session state in database table rather in websever for Ordering App

Hi all,
Ours is a ordering application (telecomm) domain.
Currently, we are storing user sessions data (Order shopping cart session data) in middle tier (iPlanet web server) which inturn consumes lot of memory resources.
Shopping cart could be in MBs if order is a huge business order.
So in order to not to overtax web server (middle tier), we are thinking of storing session data directly in a database table to relieve the overhead on web server and make use of database for storage.
I read that APEX (html db) is already using this "single metadata table" approach for session data management. But we are not using HTML DB to really look into.
Can some one advise how to go about storing "user session data" directly in a "database table" for both storage and retrieval purposes instead of storing it in "webserver".
How does this "metadata table" structure looks like. Is it more generic ?
Really appreciate your time and help/suggestions.

Thanks for your response. sorry, i meant to say that "the current application does not use APEX but will look into it".
To build this is an utterly non-trivial exercise. Oh - it may not be so hard to save session state to a table when you POST a page. But you may want to reference this in many places, and it's a question of can you change all of these references to indirect references from session state in your application.In order to free up the load on webserver, we want to maintain session management in database. Could you please explain the above little more :
How do we maintain the "user session" with "database table" ?
Do we need to store "session data" at java object level or by page in database table ? How does the structure of this "metadata table" looks like.

Export database information into pdf forms for printing

I'm hoping that this is doable and isn't extremely hard.
I have an access database that contains customer information. From this information I would like to export it into an existing pdf form (for each individual customer) and save it for printing at a later time.
Is this possible?

Insert row into database table via dynamic form -

I have developed a portlet via Portal. I used a dynamic page. I replaced the default "<ORACLE>select * from scott.emp</ORACLE>" text to call a package procedure that uses HTP.P to render the web page. My goal is to show all rows in a table and allow edits to any row, and also add a checkbox on each row to allow the user to mark for delete. I am successfully using a FOR loop and showing all of the data in a grid. My problem - How do I update and delete the data? I have a submit button with nothing behind it currently. I would ideally like to use pl/sql code to do the updates and/or deletes as marked on the page by the user, but I'm not sure how to hook the submit button to calling a procedure to execute the updates/deletes.
Any help would be appreciated -

Hi Patrick - Thanks for your response! I have browsed your page quickly - very informative and I will look in more detail. My form design looks as below (using a simple example with emp id and emp name columns) - perhaps this will have to change, but I wanted the user to be able to insert using html fields id_add and name_add, then update (or mark for deletion) any of the existing rows (they are rendered with for loop in pl/sql - eg, id_1/name_1, id_2/name_2, etc for each row in the table). I was hoping the submit action would call a pl/sql that would look at all rows, and then act if an update or delete were required. This makes it difficult to use parms, I believe - I may be able to change the design to show an "update row" below the current "insert row" so that, as in your example, when the user highlights a row, it populates in the update area where changes can be made, and an update button used to effect the changes to a single row at a time.

Database Table or T-Code for Substitutes

Hi,
Can anybody help me on the following issue:
in workflow, one user A is receiving email notifications for the workflow. however, we checked and found that he is not authorised for the workflow approvals and nowhere in application he has been defined for workflow approver.
after analysis, we found that user A is receiving emails becaoz somebody has maintained him as his substitute.
I would like to know is there any T-code where i can check who is substitute to whom or the table name where these entries are maintained. i checked that structure HRWHSUBST is being used and in use by program SAPLRHW2. can somebody help me on this.
i want to know who has defined User A as his substitute.

You can use function module u201CRH_SUBSTITUTES_GETu201D to get the substitution profiles for a user ID.

How do I create a dynamic table in the form for auto field detection?

I am new to Acrobat. We need to create a form template that contains dynamic table control so that it can be populated using auto field detection.
Our dynamic table contains reimbusement information, the rows vary from one claim to another.
Please help. We are having Acrobat 9 Pro.

A lot is possible. There is a scripting language which should fill the gaps of missing features. There is data merge, there is XML, there is InCopy. Read everything about it and you will surely find what you need.

Webdynpro abap-method for saving updated values in new database table

I am creating an ALV application in weddynpro abap where i have given update button to update fields & save button to save values in mastertable,but whenever i am updating & saving ,it will overwrit previous values. u declared the field Item_Dates as Stru_Issuesal-DATES
and u were trying to inesrting the record in the table ZTAB_CS_ISSSAL with the field Item_Dates
the error is related to the compatible.
so declare work area for updating the table should be of type ZTAB_CS_ISSSAL.

Database tables holding details for a non - released transport request

Dear All,
We are implementing SAP ECC 6.0 u2013 ABAP stack, on IBM iSeries / System i, i5/OS V5R4 -
SAP kernel release 7.00, kernel patch number 173
Could someone please guide me to the database tables holding the details for a non u2013 released transport request.
The problem is the following :
We encountered some data corruption in the database of our development system, so we did a restore from the previous day's backup (RSTLIB command) for the database library : R3DEVDATA, without restoring the /usr/sap/trans directory, then we did an APYJRNCHG command for the journal receiver spanning from the previous day's backup until the corruption time (remote journal on a remote system.)
We are now facing the following conflict :
One of our programmers is now un-capable of updating an ABAP program, which he previously added in a transport request, which he did not release.
( This was done during the day of the data corruption)
When the programmer is trying to update the ABAP program through the ABAP workbench, he receives the error :
'Request lock on non u2013 existent task / request DEVK921426'
No details for the transport request DEVK921426 exist in either of the two directories :
/usr/sap/trans/data , /usr/sap/trans/cofiles
The way I see to solve this conflict (eliminate this lock) is to delete the different entries related to the un-released transport request from the database tables.
Any clues would be highly appreciated.

Database Table Resource - What does it actually do?

I want to know what it actually means to grant a database table as a resource to a user in IDM.
For E.g.: When I provision a NT resource to a user using IDM, it means that a Windows NT account is created for that user.
However, when I assign a Database table as a resource for a user of IDM, it does not create a user account for that user.
I am using mySql, and I have assigned a DB table as a resource for a new account. However, I find that such a user is not created in mySql. What does that mean? How then does this user access that database table?
I was under the impression that a user account would be created in mySql having privileges for that table. In effect, a SQL statement like "Grant all privileges on <tablename> to <username> ".

If you want to create or edit mysql users, you would use the MYSQL resource adapter, not the Database Table adapter. The database table adapter is designed to manage rows of a table within the database. Neither allow arbitrary SQL to be excuted, but you could make SQL calls via express in your form or workflow.

How to extract files stored in 9ifs to 9i Database Table's BLOB Column

I am new for 9ifs. Now my client need to retrieve the files which is stored in 9i Database Table's BLOB Column. Actually the files are stored in 9ifs. Therefore we now want to write a Java program to retrieve the files from 9ifs to 9i Database Table's BLOB Column for my client.
The Java program will be loaded as Java Procedure to 9i Database. Then the Java Procedure can be triggerred by DML of 9i Database.
The Questions are:
1. Can I use CM SDK (9ifs) to retrieve files form 9ifs to 9i Database?
2. If the files are already stored in 9ifs, Can I use PL/SQL to copy the files from 9ifs to 9i Database?
3. As the Java Procedure will run frequently, Any problem on 9i Database Java Pool?
4. Any other advices to implement the above stituation depends on the Client must use the database link to retrieve our 9i Database data?

I want to display data from a database table (mara-matnr) in a tree structure. I went through the coding of SBSPEXT_HTMLB. There static data was taken in to wa_tab. But there I want to bring data from a database table into wa_tab. For this I created an internal table without headerline by taking a work area, now how can I move data from this work area to wa_tab record by record.
I hope some one might have worked on this. Plz help me....

Furthermore I think you want to do this:
insert <yourWorkarea> into table wa_tab.
A complete mara example would be:
data tab_mara type table of mara.
data wa_mara type mara.
select * from mara into table tab_mara.
*or you can use:
select * from mara into wa_mara.
insert wa_mara into table tab_mara.
endselect.

I have one expert routine with insert command in it. While DTP are running I change the status request to green, but after that I run again and the system can not insert record to database table. I wait for along time and system can perform insert command again to this database table. But again if I change the status to green when DTP request have not finished, the system can not perform insert command. Is the database table is lock or what? and How can I perform insert command immediately after stopping process.

You may use a text edit control instead od table control and store the content in a field of type STRING: No space wasted if no data is there but you have unlimited length.

How to use nested tables in adobe form

I have to use nested tables in adobe form for table display. I have used Subforms for displaying table data. I have changed accessibility of the subforms. Currently i am able to print print the table correctly if there is single material record in table 1 and single corresponding record in table 2. But the requirement is that i will have multiple lines in table 1 for single material and only one record in table 2.
EX: form is for Sales order. in line items if the order is for 100 units then we if we have delivered material as 80, 10, 10, then table 1 will have 3 lines for this. Table 2 will always have only 1 corresponding record.

Set the body page as flowed and set the tables also flowed.
go to bodypage>object->subform-->select flowed option.
I thihnk this will work..if u are getting all the records properly into the tables 1 and 2.
