Appending small search icon next to Text Field

All,
I am trying to append a tiny search icon when clicked works like the search button, i tried with basic jquery but didnt work can somebody help me on this?

Why don't you use Pre Element Text or Post Element Text for that? Type in the tag for the image icon. If you need to add an event you could just add a function call onclick.
Eg.
<img src="/path/search.png" onclick="search()"/>
In the search() javascript function you can describe whatever you want to do after a click.

If you see this symbol in the status bar, it means that TTY is on. Choose Settings > Phone to turn TTY on or off.

Problem with a text field check

When there is nothing placed inside the text field it will return a message dialog box saying that there is nothing located inside the text field. However if there is something inside the text field it will perform a
doSpellingSuggestion and write the results to a .txt file.
This works as the search term can be found within the .txt file.
However when I try to display a message dialog box to display the contents of the .txt file that contains the spelling suggestion it will come out with an error from the catch statement

I don't use SOAP, so I can't test your code.

Getting that little icon next to the web address..

Hey everyone..
Im using Dreamweaver 8, and I was wondering if there is a
tool that allows me to insert a small little icon next to an
internet browsers web address (ex: the little "Y!" to the left of
the address bar, or better yet, the little macromedia "m" on this
page, next to the "
http://...." part. Is there a quick and
dirty way? What should be the specs on the pic?

It's not really a DW thing, just put your favicon in the root
directory of your website and insert a line like <link
rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />
in the <head> section of your webpage.
The pic itself is a 16x16 pixel image saved as favicon.ico. I
think it's only supposed to be 16 color too...

Query a view w/data entered into a text field populated by 2 table fields

Hello, Looking for advise!!! I have a tabular canvas thats datablock uses a view to populate. In this canvas I have a text field that has been populated with first_name || ' ' || last_name in the database node of the property pallate column name. The text field is not in the table or view. I have created it in the data block and make it a database item. However, I would like to have the user push a search button to go into ENTER_QUERY mode then the user would enter the criteria to search on in this text field. The user would then push button to EXECUTE_QUERY. The result is I retrieve all records. I want any search criteria entered into this field to be used against the last_name field to retrieve any records equal to the search criteria entered, for example A%. Does anyone know if this is possible?

You have to use PRE-QUERY trigger to compose the search criteria. Below I put an example of it. You have to have at least one item in the block wich is true database item (e.g. it has to exist in table or view on which your block is based). In the following example EMP_DESC is your non-database search item and EMP_ID is the database one.

Thats it. Note the # sign in the first position of the Dummy assignment. This is required by forms to glue your search criteria and block's where clause. You may analize LAST_QUERY property of your block in order to understand how this work. Remember also to set the QUERY_LENGTH property of the EMP_DESC item to the value that could contain the whole Dummy string (otherwise it will give you an error and cut the mar the query).

Text Field repeating at Page Break in Interactive Adobe form in Webdynpro Java

I have requirement in which Text field containing 'Rich Text' data has a huge data coming at runtime. It is displaying correctly without any scrollbars on a single page .Now the problem is when data exceeds to next page ,text field repeats it with first line and also adds scrollbar to text field.
I have set text field properties like Allow Page Break,Allow multiple lines ,Height Auto fit.
Also The Text field is in flowed Subform ,Allow page breaks checked.
Kindly provide solution in quick time..

Yes I have checked all the subforms Flowed. Text field is working good in Preview Pdf Option of NWDS.
But when I generate the pdf on server, when TextField flows to next page, on next page it repeats from first line.

So you have a page1.
You hit submit from page1.
That goes to the cgiserver.
From the cgiserver, programmatically load up the jsp.
search this for the text field.
Display it on your page2.
Is that what you are trying to do?
BTW, won't be able to help you with cgi scripting at all. Can help with Java and Jsp.

Overflow text on to second text field.

My form contains a long descriptive text followed by a short line, the for text field. The next form text field is a long blank line onto which I want the overflow text from the above field to be placed. How can I do this whith Acrobat 8 Mac OSX 10.4

Ah ok, you are probably not in the right forum then. This one is for XFA-based forms built with Designer (accessed through Forms->Start Form Wizard, Create a PDF Form from scratch) and not the in-built Acrobat Form->Add Or Edit Fields. I dont think the in-built fields have the funtionality you are looking for but you can ask in http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat/forms

Cursor won't show in text fields, Google Street View mouseup not working

My wife and I have nearly identical computers and update Firefox whenever a new version comes out.
Lately, only on her computer, when she clicks into the address bar or into a text field, the cursor sometimes does not appear. In some other text fields it does appear. In the address bar, whenever you click in it and then type, there is no cursor, and the entire address bar is always overwritten.
In Google Street View (I think it uses the Flash player), she can start dragging, but then the mouse "won't let go" - it is as if the mouse up command is ignored. I have to drag the mouse outside the picture area and then back in, or the dragging will continue.

Creating icon to put on field for hover text

on certain fields i would like to have a small button somewhere that allows users to click and get text on how to fill in the field they are on. ideally little question mark next to the text field or text box. If it popped up when they hovered over it that would be great.

You can enter text into the tooltip field on the accessibility palette and when th euser hovers over the field that text will pop up. This isi good is you have a small amount of text. For something bigger you can put a button beside the field witha question mark on it. When th euser clicks this button you could put up a message that woudl have the extra help for tha field. The command to bring up a message is xfa.host.messageBox("Enter your message here")

Is there a way to link text fields, so when you reach the end of one line it moves to the next?

I often use Acrobat Pro to create forms, whether it be from an existing document or from scratch, and this has always irritated me. I know you can create a text field and select the Multi-line option; however, this is not what I am looking to do. I have a form that has a Yes or No Radio Button, then below it says "If yes, please explain:" followed by 3 lines to respond. When I run it through the Form Creator, it places three text fields on the response lines - as it should. The first line is shorter because of the text, which is why I cannot use the Multi-line option. So is there a way to link these three text fields, so that when I reach the end of the first line it stops and automatically moves to the next?

These types of lines are a left-over from printed forms. There's no reason
to keep using them if your form is digital.
The best approach is to combine the fields to a single multiline field, and
get rid of the first line. Trying to link text fields together is very
tricky. I haven't yet to see it done properly.

How to create a group/list of check box variables for display in text field, in appended format

I need to identify a series of single-response checkbox variables and display the ones selected (as a group) in a text field in an appended (comma, space) format. Last week, you provided a great little script for a similar need using List Box (multiple response) variables. This time I need to know how to formally identify the checkbox variables and, I presume, use a similar script to display the results in a comma, space format.

Here's the script adapted to this situation. It assumes there are ten check boxes named cb1, cb1, cb2, ...cb10.

Data from one text field to another text field on the next page

Hi I have a form, which has data coming in from the data binding, the thing is the data is mapped to a certain text field and if that text field is filled up it should be continued on to the other text field which is on the immediate page following it. the reason for using text field instead of Subform and make it expandable is the client does not want to change the position and structure of other fields following that field, they are o.k with the amount overflowed in to the next text field .
is there any script for the same condition in Java script or form calc.

This is not as simple as it sounds. You will not be able to split the field up during the time of binding. The entire string must go into the field and only after it has completed the biinding can we change it around. A colleage of mine did this for an interactive field and it involved some pretty complicated code. Here is a link to her blog entry that describes what she did:

But that is only part of the problem.....once you split the information across two fields you will need to recombine it back into a single field so that the data that is submitted can represent it correctly again. So you will have to reverse the process in a presubmission step.
