Apple ID sub-account moved to iCloud retains parent ID name

Cross posted from iPhone discussions:
This one puzzles me.
Moved family pack accounts to iCloud individually with no problems.
The sub-account my spouse uses seems to retain my name as the user Apple ID when she sends mail from her iPhone 4s.
I've visited https://appleid.apple.com and changed the name on her Apple ID to her name.
When someone replies to email sent from her phone the reply fills in my name (which was the parent account name) with her email address and

Is there a phone setting I'm missing? Something to do with Contacts? (her address book "Me" card is properly set up) Or is this an iCloud thing.
Any ideas out there before I set up a call with Support?

Here's the simple settings solution well tucked in on the phone:
Settings > iCloud > Account > Advanced > Name
This is where the name associated with the email address sent from the device is set. That's pretty well hidden, at least from me!

I'm exhausted of trying to find a solution to a problem created by Apple. I have moved to icloud following all your instructions and now I can not use my mobile me e-mail address. I can not activate icloud because when I put my e-mail address it answers that somebody is already using my address. I have my old e-mails, but I can not receive any e-mail or send them.
I have contacted Apple Technical Support in Spain and I was sent an e-mail saying that I have to call a phone number and when I call it is always an answering machine who answers that says that I have to pay 50€ for a consultation or wait for 10 minutes. When I have made the consultation it was never mentioned that I have to pay 50€ for a phone consultation. If I don't want to wait I have to pay for the Apple Tecnical Support which cost 250 €, this was not mentioned in the technical support page.
Can somebody let me know how can I contact Apple in another way in order to talk with a human being or chat directly? I was very happy just using my mobileme e-mails, I didn't need any clouds and I was force by Apple to registered if I want to continue using my mobileme e-mail address.

  • Sub-accounts on new computer for parental control, access to itunes library

I have established sub-accounts on my new iMac in order to activate parental controls. Does anyone know how I can grant the sub-accounts access to the libraries in the itunes account in the administrative account?

Tried hooking up my external drive to my Mini. This morning my Mini had all my info listed, but I couldn't play any songs, for obvious reasons. Now, my Mini is hooked up to the external, iTunes prefs are set on the path to the external - but there is no music in iTunes. No lists, no songs, nada. Just a virgin iTunes window. ***?

  • HT204053 I started using iCloud on all my Apple products before MobileMe shut down, setting up a new ID and password to do that.  When MobileMe moved to iCloud, it became my primary account for iCloud and is interfering with everything I had done before.

I started using iCloud on all my Apple products, using a new password and ID, before MobileMe shut down.  Apparently I shouldn't have done that, because when MobileMe moved to iCloud, it automatically became my primary account and took over everything I had previously set up on my iCloud account.  I would like to eliminate the MobileMe account, but I can't find a way to do it.  Anyone have any experience with this?  It's making me very frustrated with iCloud.

The primary account is the one signed into in System Preferences>iCloud (or on an iPhone Settings>iCloud). If it isn't the account you want to use, simply sign out and the sign back in with the required account. On signing out your data will be removed from your Mac but not from the iCloud server.
If you want to you can sign in with the other account in System Preferences>Mail, Contacts & Calendars - you can sync that account's email, contacts and calendars and they will appear alongside the equivalent data in the primary account.
The main differences are that the secondary account's email will not be 'pushed' but will be checked periodically, and the secondary account cannot use PhotoStream.

  • HT204053 how do I set up a sub account in iCloud?

How do I set up a sub account in icloud?  We need three separate email addresses in this house but only have one Apple ID.  Since the apple ID is an email address, I'm sort of in a catch 22.  I can't set up individual icloud accounts because I don't have other apple ID's.  I can't get other apple ID's because you have to use one to get an icloud account... Very confusing.  Our main email address transfered seamlessly to icloud and we love it but we want to ditch our Advertisement ridden verizon email and have a separate email for my husbands business contacts and my business contacts.  Everyone says we can just sign up for other icloud accounts but... well... the whole catch 22 thing.  Someone please help, I feel like I'm chasing my tail here.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
You cannot set up subaccounts, as you couldwith the family pack for MobileMe. I'm not sure why you can't create separate Apple IDs and hence iCloud accounts, it isn't good practice to share and iCloud account between different people. All you need to do, is each create your own iCloud account, choosing your old email address when you do so.

  • Apps don't sync across devices after I moved to iCloud.  I have 1 apple ID (from mobile me) and 1 that use for iTunes

Apps on my various iPads  and iPhone used to sync automatically.  Whenever I used to buy an apps, it would just automatically appear in all my devices.  I'm not sure what does that, it could have been the MobileMe account, but it was working perfectly until after I moved to iCloud.  Now, apps don't sync anymore.  Calendars, mails and contacts do.  I use 1 apple ID for I cloud and 1 for iTunes because I moved mobile me account to iCloud.  Could someone please help?  This is bugging me and I searched all over the Internet but can't find answer.

I have the exact same problem. Help!

  • HT4597 I moved to Icloud and I cannot access Family members account. Why?

Can Family Pack members move their MobileMe accounts separately to iCloud?
Yes. The master account holder and family members can move their individual accounts whenever they like, as long as they do so before June 30, 2012. After moving to iCloud, family member accounts are no longer linked to the master account.
I thought I could access the accounts after moving to Icloud the master account but it is not the case

Once you move the master over, it has no control over subs any longer. You will have to log into them individually to move them to iCloud, as they are considered their own accounts now.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
iTunes and iCloud and different accounts, you will need to delete both accounts from your device before adding the new details in their place.
For iCloud go to settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit the delete button. You can then sign back in using your correct details. For iTunes go to settings >store, tap your account ID and then sign out, you can then sign back in using your correct Apple ID.

  • HT204053 I am trying to sign up for icloud using windows 7. When I enter my apple id it says "this is a valid apple id but is not an icloud account". Where do I create an icloud account?

I already quoted the minimum requirements, look in the post before yours.
You will have to upgrade your Mac to at least 10.7.5, upgrades are not free, you buy them from the App Store. Mountain Lion is the best but your Mac must be compatible.
Here is a list of compatible machines.
Also note that some older apps (Office 2004, Appleworks) will not run on Mountain Lion.

  • My wife and I decided to both buy Iphones do I put them both under the same apple ID, or do I create two different apple ID's and two differnt icloud accounts?

My wife and I decided to both buy Iphones do I put them both under the same apple ID, or do I create two different apple ID's and two differnt icloud accounts? We want to be able to share my itunes library on both our phones and sync our calendars, but I don't want every update and reminder that my wife puts in her phone and I know she doesn't want every reminder I put in my phone.

What you need to do is both use the same Apple ID for iTunes content, but separate Apple ID's for everything else. So, you keep your existing Apple ID. If not a verifiable email address, you will need to create a new Apple ID for yourself. You also create an Apple ID for your wife, again a verifiable email address. You use the existing Apple ID for all iTunes content. The new Apple ID's for iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc. Here's how to create an Apple ID:

He set up his phone using my Apple ID because we didn't know any better. Now we want to separate calendars/contacts, but are afraid of the 90-day lockout.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can change the Apple ID without any problem. On his device, go to Settings > iCloud > Delete account and login with his Apple ID so he'll get his information. iCloud needs an Apple ID, so if he hasn't got one, he must create an Apple ID > http://appleid.apple.com
When you delete the iCloud account, all the information will be deleted, so I recommend you to turn off each service before deleting iCloud

  • I have same Apple ID for iPhone iPad and my daughters iPod and iPad mini. Can I obtain another iCloud account for her without changing her Apple ID. She had a iCloud account on old iPod bit can't retrieve it.

Me and my daughter have same Apple ID for my iPhone iPad and her iPod and iPad mini. Is there any way to get an iCloud account for her devices without changing her Apple ID. She has an old iCloud account from older iPod but  can't activate it or remember her old iCloud account.
    Thanks

You have to use a different Apple ID to create a new iCloud account (each ID can only be used with a single account).  You don't have to use the ID for anything else though, she can continue to use her current ID for other services such as iTunes, iMessage, FaceTime, etc.
The only limitation is that each device can only create three iCloud accounts.
