Applescript clicking dialog box.

Hey yall!
I have a strange problem on a Mac OS 10.7.5 .  I am basically trying to make a little applescript to select all the stuff in a document and run a big fat Flatten Transparency menu item on it to make it all nice and flat.  However, while clicking menu items with System Events works to bring up the Flatten Transparency dialog box, clicking inside the box does nothing but flicker the intended item briefly with no real result.  For example, click checkbox "Convert All Text to Outlines" flickers the box with a little blue highlight and does nothing. keystroke return ,though, does press OK and dismisses the box.  The concern here of course is being able to manipulate the dialog boxes properly with applescript and for this particular purpose the fact that not all users would have the appropriate settings for their Flatten Transparency options from their previous uses.
Here is what I have so far:
tell application "Adobe Illustrator"
    activate
set user interaction level to interact with all
repeat with increment from 1 to count of page items of current document
set thisItem to page item increment of current document
        if thisItem is editable then
set selected of thisItem to true
        end if
    end repeat
end tell
tell application "System Events"
    tell process "Adobe Illustrator"
click menu item 13 of menu "Object" of menu bar 1
    end tell
end tell
tell application "System Events"
    tell process "Adobe Illustrator"
        tell window "Flatten Transparency"
click checkbox "Convert All Text to Outlines"
            keystroke return
        end tell
    end tell
end tell
Thanks for any advice!

Thx for the reply.
Ok ... let's be honest ...
You probably know a torrent app named Xto** ... This app is great .. but you now got to pay for it, but who wants to register a Torrent app ??? The chase has begun in France ...
The fact is that after a launch, and 1 hour, it caps the download to 10kb/s.
What I want to do is simple, I want to write a script to quit it, then relaunch it.
The only thing is that the app asks if "I really want to quit it" after the quit command ...
For sure I don't want to send a 27 ASCII but rather a 3 or 13, to quit it.
As I said in the last msg, the script seems to freeze after the quit command.
Experience may help.
Thanks for it.

  • Unix command to click button on dialog box and close windows?

I administer an elementary school computer lab of 35 eMacs all with OS 10.4.7 and with ARD 3.0. Our network server configuration requires a mounted server on each desktop in order to administer certain software packages we use. Every morning at start-up I have to walk around and manually click "Connect" on the dialog boxes. Then, with this configuration, each time a server is mounted, it opens up a Finder Window on the host machine so I've got to walk around and close windows on all the machines. I'm sure there must be an AppleScript or Unix command that I can set up to do these two tasks but I've not found it (or learned how to write it) in a few days of searching. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Dan

    OK guys,
I just succeeded in saving the AppleScript command as an application. I put it in the Login Items just after the servers. It worked beautifully! No more open windows exposing sensitive files to the risks of elementary students (how come the mounted volumes always appear on the desktop even when the "hide" button is checked?). It would be great if the mounted volumes were not showing at least in a setting like a school computer lab.
Now, I'm still dealing with the mounting process requiring me to manually click on "Connect" every time. The Student account doesn't even have a password just to make such things easier. Still the process displays this:
    (Oh well, I guess I can't insert a ScreenShot.)
Here's what it says: Connect to the file server "server name."
    Connect as: Registered User
    Name: "account name"
    √Remember password in keychain
(and then two buttons) Cancel or Connect
That's where I'm at right now. My district Tech. Support folks say that there's no way to avoid the dialog box but John seems to do it OK. They also pointed me to an online source (www.bombich.com) that I haven't yet checked out.
    Thanks again,
    Dan

  • Dialog box with one button, when clicked will launch another script

How do I create a button inside a dialog box, which, when clicked, will open up another script?

    ]I've typed
    set myDialog to display dialog "Finished?" buttons {"Shutdown", "Screensaver"}
if button returned of myDialog is "Screensaver" then
run script ("Macintosh HD:Users:Seb:Applescript:ScreenSaver.scpt" as alias)
if button returned of myDialog is "Shutdown" then++
run script ("Macintosh HD:Users:Seb:Applescript:Shutdown.scpt" as alias)

  • Clicking a button in a dialog box, Pro Tools

I am new to Applescript and would like some guidance. I tried to make this work with Quickeys but didn't get very far. I am using a plug-in called Source Connect, which allows realtime recording sessions via the Internet. I'd like Source Connect to automatically respond when an incoming session request is received. A popup dialog box appears asking YES or NO, and I'd like it to click YES.
Am I asking too much of Applescript, or is this possible?

    1. add ActionListener to the button

this is correct, but make it little more clear 4 you subbu.
1 add ActionListener to the button in frame ONE.
2 inside its actionPerformed() create object of SECOND frame and call setVisible(true) on SECOND frame. or can
do it inside the constructor of frame SECOND.
3 then call dispose() or setVisible(false) on frame ONE.
    cheers :)

  • How can I automatically close a dialog box using Javascript after I click the OK button to submit it?

How can I automatically close a dialog box using Javascript after I click the OK button to submit it? I don't want to have to X out of the dialog box after I am done.
    Thanks
    Linda

JS can not interact with open dialogs in any way, unless it's a dialog
created in JS using the Dialog object.

  • I've developed the problem that when I click on something I get a dialog box with a mess of stuff such as: Back,re;oad page ,Open in dashboard ,print page, etc. It's quite annoying!

I have a problem that when I click on something I get a dialog box with Back,Reload page, Open in Dashboard,View Source Save page as ETC. I don't get the normal or expected respose to a simple "click". Another problem. For some reason the back and forth arrows it the tool bar of Safari have shifted from the upper left hand cornor to the uuuer rihht hand cornor.

Something is seriously wrong then.  Did you move it?  There are several Library folders.  One of them should be inside your HOME folder.
If WZZZ suggestion does not work, re-install your OS by using Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo.  When done, repair permissions and restart your computer.

    Hi Rod,
As originally stated in my opening post, the SWF is to be inserted into an Articulate '13 slide (what I called an aggregator originally - I tried not to bring them up since I don't want the chatter about "There's your problem - using Articulate"! ).
Recall that posting this published file to our LMS did not allow right-mouse click functionality as the flash player menu just gets in the way.
If I insert the captivate 6 files into Articulate as a Web Object (referencing the entire folder with html, htm and assets, and then posted to our LMS, and it DOES allow RM click operations in both IE and FF (although no sound on the Captivate slide in FF). But this is not what we want to do as this introduces 2 navigation controls (the Captivate one and the Articulate Player).
Why must anything be posted to a web server for this functionality to work?
I am able to go into the Captivate 6's published folder, and launch the Captivate demonstration by simply double clicking on the index.html file and this works great in both FF and IE after changing the security settings for flash.
Again - I can not believe I am the only one out there trying to use the right-mouse click feature to do a software simulation by embedding the Captivate SWF into an Articulate '13 project.

  • Open Dialog box on button click using Visual Webpart

    Hi,
I am trying to create New Item,Edit Item & Delete Item button in Visual web part.On clicking on the button it should open the corresponding custom form on dialogue box.I don't want to create any button in the ribbon.I just want to create UI page for
all buttons and also corresponding input forms on button click in Visual web part.
Is it possible through visual web part?
I will be needing your initial guidance to achieve this.
    Please help.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to open modal dialog in a visual web part.
To open a modal dialog, there are multiple ways, such as using JavaScript.
However, for your scenario, you should register the script from the C# code, there are some articles for this topic, you can refer to them.

  • MS Word: This file is read-only. To save a copy, click OK, and give the document a new name in the save dialog box.

This is not a question. I believe I've found a new issue and the fix for it.
    The situation:
A brand new iMac 27" running Yosemite 10.10.1
    MacMini server running 10.8.5 server.
    The issue:
Client on iMac trying to work on MS Word documents stored on server was requiring him to save the documents to his desktop and then copy them back to the folder on the server. The exact error message was, "This file is read-only. To save a copy, click OK, and give the document a new name in the save dialog box."
The issue is unique to this computer in an office of 10 client computers and three servers.
    Attempted fixes:
Verified that the ".Temporaryitems" folder existed and the permissions were set properly.
Repaired permissions on the client and the network share.
    Definitive fix:
By default, Yosemite 10.10.1 uses SMB for connecting file shares. When I overrode the default and switched to AFP protocol, the issue went away.
I hope this helps someone else.
    Rob

That was it. What an operating system. It is very helpful to view files you are looking for. But if you have preview on you cannot save files.

  • When I right click on a link to open in new tab and move my cursor into the dialog box the box dissapears this is new in the last 24 hours.

I'm using Firefox 8.0 on Suse 11.4 today is 11/28/11 the past 24 hours I've been experiencing this: I always try to right click on links and open in new tab, lately when I do so and move the cursor into the dialog box the box disappears. Also if I online shop say for clothing, if I want to change size's when I click the button to do so nothing happens when I want to scroll down and pick a different size, (I can hi-light the size and click on it then when the window scrolls back up the default size is still there. This isn't consistent with all web sites.

You can middle-click a link to open the link in a new tab.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Clicking a .pdf link does not open .pdf file, it opens a SAVE DIALOG box

Recently when I click on a .pdf file link I am no longer able to open the file in a adobe reader either within a FIREFOX webpage or open it using the full adobe program. Instead it opens a SAVE dialog box requesting me to save to my harddrive. I am not sure what has happened and am trying to find someone who might know what is going on?

You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) from Preview in Firefox to use the Adobe Reader or set to Always Ask in "Firefox > Options/Preferences > Applications".
You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page to disable the build-in PDF viewer.
You can check the value of the plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types pref on the about:config page and remove the application/pdf part if present or reset the pref to the default via the right-click context menu.

  • Creating a Save As dialog box with Applescript for Excel 2008

This is going to be part of a larger script. I'm trying to figure out how to make the default save location to where the file opened from and the default file name to the current filename in the dialog box.
Here is what I go so far...
    tell application "Microsoft Excel"
    tell active workbook
set myFile to choose file name with prompt "Save file as:"
    end tell
    end tell
I'm very new with working with Applescript, so at this point I have been piecing together code snippets.
Any help would be great and thank you

The choose file name command supports a default location parameter that tells it where to open the dialog:
set myFile to choose file name with prompt "Save file as:" default location (alias "Macintosh HD:Users:username:foldername:")
So you need to look at the Excel dictionary to determine the path to the current file and insert it into the script. Every version of Excel has slightly different dictionaries so the version you're running is critical to getting the right syntax.
