Does any one know how to automatically resize the applet frame to the window/frame in the web browser

Create a page with nothing but some lines of JavaScript that determine the screen resolution, then call a different html page depending on what the screen resolution is.
Here is index.html:

</html>Now for each page that you could redirect too, you need to include the applet with the height and width optimized to fit the screen resolution.

TOC, streaming video and screen size

Hello,
A recent project is shaping up to be a video based course. The purpose of the project is to introduce and explain a sales software package.
Before I start to work I need to ensure Captivate 7 can cover three basic requirements;
1. The end user needs must have access to a table of contents so they can switch between slides/content and have the freedom to move about. I know that Captivate 7 can accommodate this.
2. To be able to embed streaming video. It is important that the video appears to be a part of the content and not open to a new window at anytime. Also, the rewind and pause buttons for the video are controlled by Captivate 7 inbuilt buttons and not those of the video streaming host.
3. Ensure the screen size for the learning package is restricted to a specific size. Reason being, some users will have desktop screens at 1920 x 1080 and this will "blur" the video content if stretched to that size.
Might Captivate 7 fulfill items two and 3?

Hate to answer my own question, but I figured out a way to do what I want.
1. open movie file in QT.
2. Resize it and save.
3. Open file with skin movie (see link in my orig post).
4. then view < normal.
It basically fits it to the screen which is the exact dimensions of the movie. If I do not view<normal then the movie is offset I can not even see it. And resetting the offset does nothing.
If anyone has a better way (less steps) to get a borderless movie to resize and fit to screen, please let me know. This works but it is cumbersome.

Slideshows and Screen sizes

Next to the normal photo organisation, I also use a seperate iPhoto Library as an image and screen shot sorting, and refernce material filing tool. Screenshots and image downloads are often not that big.
Going to Slideshows in iPhoto5, showed any images always adjusted to screen size. So even if a screenshot was smaller, it rez'ed it up to full height or full width on the screen, showing black bars on the sides, making it a bit pixelated sometimes, but still it was possible to see it at a decent size.
Fullscreen mode then enlarged the pics even more to cover everything, and cropping the image rather than adding black bars.
iPhoto 6 however shows the images in their correct size. No pixelation, but really small sometimes. Full Screen mode enlarges them again to cover the whole screen, cropping portrait images.
Is there still an option to see the full image adjusted to screen size, with added black areas on the sides, but no image cropping?

I also tried this now in a Test User account. Same results.
has anyone got any idea if it is possible to fix this?

Borderless movie and screen size

I have made a borderless movie skin (http://www.macosxtips.co.uk/index_files/borderless-quicktime-movies.php). But I am having great difficulty getting the video to fit on the screen correctly.
The video is 640x960. I want it to play on a borderless movie screen that is 275x413. When the movie starts the screen is 275x413, but the video doesn't even show up. I have tried EVERYTHING - fit to screen, full screen, I have rescaled the movie in the properties. I even took the original movie and resaved it at 275x413 so that it would be the exact size at the screen I am using. The results I get are just plain inconsistent. Sometimes the movie isn't on the screen. Other times it is offset (and yes, I tried changing the offset in the properties.). I have gotten it to work a couple times but not consistantly.
I simply want the movie to play at a certain size with no borders. Seems like an easy thing to ask for but apparently not.
I can drag a corner and resize it either. Apparently this does not work with out a border, I am going nuts with this. Can anyone offer any help?

Mavericks and Screen Size

I just downloaded Mavericks to my Mac Book Pro, and my screen content is much smaller. Yes, I see more on the screen, but it's so small that it's hard to read. How do I enlarge/zoom permanently? I've looked everywhere in System Preferences and can't find info on permanently enlarging tabs, bookmarks, bottom icons, etc.

A Mac can read but not write to a HDD formatted NTFS. If it were otherwise, Paragon and Tuxera software would not exist. Since I am not at your location to witness what is occurring, i cannot resolve what seems to be an inconsistency.
If you want to write to that HDD, you will need the aforementioned software or reformat the HDD to one that is compatible with Mac OSX. (Note that formatting erases all data on a HDD)
I can say no more.

Hunger Games and Screen Size

I rented the HD version of Hunger Games and after i got through the VOD mess the picture dimensions made the movie unwatchable. I know the HD version said widescreen, but the movie was cut off not only on the top and bottom, but on the sides as well. I have a 50inch HD screen, is that how the movie is suppose to look?

That's called LETTERBOX mode. Check your tv to see what presentation mode you have it in.
A widescreen movie is not cut off on the top and bottom. Your HD tv is 16x9 format, which is a compromise between 4:3 televsion of old and 21:9 cinemascope movie format. Many movies are now filmed in 16:9 format so that the full hd screen is filled with an image but the vast majority of movies were filmed in a wider format.
It can be a little disappointing on a 50 inch screen but looks great on my 8 foot screen.

[SOLVED] TTY font and screen size not right after switch GUI- cons

I have a small problem that I need some help with. I lost my ttys when in r/l 5. So, I appended my krnl boot line w/ vga=773. That gave me fb in tty. But I saw that the top of the screen was about 30% down from the top of the actual screen. To fix that, I (disabled kms) put radeon.modeset=0 on the krnl boot line. Now, when go from the GUI back to the terminal, the line spacing is doubled and the bottom of the screen is invisible.
hardware in question:
IBM thinkpad T41 laptop
Radeon video (1024x768)
Pentium M 1.6GHz
512MB RAM
software in question:
krnl 2.6.33-ARCH (standard krnl)
GDM & XFCE4
I don't know what else to provide, so please let me know.
Any suggestions?

Use of the standard font for consol. will prevent this problem.

Embedding and Screen Size Recommendations?

When embedding a Captivate movie in a course that uses PowerPoint/Artculate do you embed the Captivate in the slide as a Flash movie or do you have it open in a seperate browser window? And for each option what size do you recommend recording the Captivates?

Handbrake and Screen size

Hi,
I am converting movies for iPod using handbrake as for some reason I cannot import my movie files in to iTunes. When I transfer the movie to the iPod and then play it through my AV cable the picture is the right width but the height is way to thin. Can anyone tell me the correct settings for handbrake or how to remedy this. If I click the iPod fit to screen selection I seems to loose the edges of the film.

Problem with image resolution with larger screen size

I was working on Basic Lens Sample (Basic
Lens Sample) for windows phone 8 App. In this the camera by default sets to default highest resolution.
Just had couple of questions on this:
1.) How to change basic settings like resolution,ISO etc.,in this app, because during initial settings
it only takes default value and when I try to change that it throws an error. Also a code comment is written during initialization of camera to take only these default values. So when to change these settings and how?.
2.) How to adjust resolution for phablets having 6" screen. Like when I run the code in Lumia 1320,
the image resolution is not that good and it breaks. So how to adjust screen resolutions for catering different smartphones with different resolutions and screen sizes.
Any solution or suggestions or snippets is very much appreciated.

For you first question, we can use
GetAvailableCaptureResolutions method of PhotoCaptureDevice to get the available resolutions in device. That code sample returns the largest resolution by default, you just need to choose an appropriate one. You can find it in CameraController class in
Models folder in the project.
For you second question, I tested the sample in lumia 1320, I didn’t see the image broken.

You can get an appropriate resolution image and let the OS downscale it for you. You can find the support resolution in the following link. Go to Supported resolutions section.

If you want to display the whole large resolution image in lower resolution device, I think you can use
ScrollViewer control. Use Application.Current.Host.Content.ActualWidth and ActualHeight properties to get the device resolutions, and then you can know if your app is running on a lower resolution device.

E75 Screen Size

Currently using an E71 ... thinking that E75 would be much better due to keyboard and screen size.
However confused over the screen.
On all pictures the screen is shown as physically much bigger, and rectangular on E75 compared to E71 ... even in a side by side comparison on Nokia site the screen is much longer.
Yet if you compare specs they both have 2.4" 320x240 screens .... which does not make sense.
Anybody know better.

That is incorrect, the E75 does not have a 352x288 screen resolution.
Please can you provide a link to anywhere on an official nokia site that backs up your incorrect claim?
The E75 uses the common 320x240 resolution. I've only briefly used the E75 and to me the screen looked identical to the one on the E71. I cannot confirm this as fact as I do not have access to both phones.

HTML-DB 1.6 (Apex) Page size and Page Model and monitor size

Hi everyone,
We developed our application based on 17 inches monitor. But, today one user told us that she has a 15 inches monitor. Thus, she don't see full page, she has to use the scroll.
Is it in our model that you can reduce the page size for example 80% size in the page model to fit with 15 inches monitor ?
Or to define a variable in the page model and have two different buttons one for 15 inches monitor (80% page size) and an other related to 17 inches monitor and more (100% page size) this pourcent should be the value of a variable in the page model ?

Hi Timiche,
The easiest thing to do would be to make sure that the width of items on the page (especially tables) are set to a percentage and not a fixed px value. This way, the items will spread out to fill the available screen width.
You should also bear in mind that users can change the resolution of the screens - 640x400, 800x600, 1024x768 etc. It would become a nightmare to try and cater for all possible resolutions and screen sizes by dynamically changing the fixed width dimensions of all objects on a page! I would check what items need to be of fixed width and change all the rest to percentages.
We tend to inform our users that pages have been designed for a particular resolution - currently 1024x768.

Screen Size and Resolution on Remote Access Mavericks

Hi Forum,
Accessing my Mac Mini remotely and it has a new install of Mavericks. The Screen size and shape and resolution isn't right, but Screen options in System doesn't give me any options. Is this because, physically, no screen is attached? Do only screen sizes and options come up when a screen is attached?
it currently shows 1280x960 [i think - just turned off the mac to get back to work] or 'scaled to fit'. Neither is right for the MBP remote access,. It was fine before i upgraded.
any ideas?

Whenever i am using my laptop and my palms are on the base of the laptop and i am typing all of sudden... my screen size keeps resizing bigger or smaller

i try to keep my thumb palms off the mouse pad when i am typing but every now and then my screen resizes larger or smaller until i take my left palm off the keyboard base its only when my left palm is resting on the base next to the touch pad. i type pretty fast so it gets annoying and yes it also jumps screens or reverts back to previous message and i have to choose ctrl z to undo and get back to my message i was typing... it also switches tabs on me as well... not sure why my palm being on the left of the keypad on the base should effect anything but it does after a while. and i have to stop what i am doing...and go to the firefox menu and change the screen size back down to 100% sometimes it goes up to 200-300 other times it goes down to 70-80% i find it annoying i i wish there was a way to turn off the screen resize in the setup panel. if its just left to be 100% i am happy with that... i don't need it to be bigger or smaller... there should be a way to LOCK it down... i understand that there are people out there with eye problems and needs to have the screen size increase using the + or - but there should be a lock so it just stays no matter what is happening on my keypad or touch pad or base of the pad... that screen size will not increase or decrease. unless i turn off the lock... perhaps this is something they can implement in the next version or do a quick update of the browser
