Applet - EJB Connection

When I try to make a jndi lookup, I get the following error. Did anybody faced similar problem? The error occurs at the line where I call the look up through the initialcontext object. I have signed my applet. It is working locally, but not from other systems (even within the LAN). I use Jboss4.0.1 and have included all the necessary client jar files.

  • Is there a way to do that? To use dynamic EJB connections?

    Hello Developers,
    I have developed a security web application using EJB,
    Jaas with customer provider
    I used DBSystemLogin module
    I want to fined a way that the EJB connection change each time when the user login.
    I used the HR as the main schema.
    I created three schemas that I want to use them as users:
    -Lina
    -Salem
    -Ahmad
    I granted Roles to users on hr tables.
    additional, created my own roles in data base and granted to my users:
    ADMINISTRATOR  Lina - can see all records
    EMPLOYEE Ahmad -can see the records added by this employee
    CUSTOMER  Salem - can see the records belongs to this customer
    In developer 10.1.3.3
    I created Order Entity been using HR database connection, created session been,
    Modified web.xml:
    -security roles["ADMINISTRATOR","EMPLOYEE","CUSTOMER"])
    -Loginconfig (Form-based authentication: login page, error page)
    -Security constraints: ord on /faces/Orders.jsp to ADMINISTRATOR,EMPLOYEE,CUSTOMER.
    I created Orders.jsp page contains order table.
    Now, I want that when the user login as Lina to switch the EJB database connection to Lina, so the displayed order table achieves ADMINISTRATOR roles that created in database,means opening database session for user Lina and use it.
    and so on for user salem and ahmad.
    Is there a way to do that? To use dynamic EJB connections? To achieve authentication based connection? to implement the user database roles on the client side? To specify the database connection at run time?
    That is possible using forms but I don’t want to use forms.
    I want to reed the roles from database according to the user.
    I hope to get answers soon,
    thanks.

  • Applet socket connection

    Hi,
    I have an applet that connects to a server java console program through a socket connection which works fine from the command line using appletviewer but doesn't work when running in a html page. The applet is not signed however because the applet and server are running on the same machine it shouldn't need to be. I have used socket connections in applets before and have managed to make the connection to server without having it signed but this one is not working for some reason. I have checked the port is opened and again its the same one I have used before so I know its open.
    I am getting the message java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission 127.0.0.1:5000 connect,resolve) when calling:
      Socket s = new Socket(ip,port);I also have a java.policy.applet file in the project root directory which has the following in:
    grant {
      permission java.security.AllPermission;
    };Does anyone know a reason why access could be restricted?

An unsigned applet can only connect back to the server from where it was downloaded. Your applet comes from www.javawebgames.co.uk and tries to connect to 127.0.0.1.
    Would your server be at www.javawebgames.co.uk there should be no problem.
    I also have a java.policy.applet file in the project root directory which has the following in:

    permission java.security.AllPermission;
    };I think this should have zero effect when you are running in the actual browser.

  • Applet EJB Coomunication

    Hi,
    I am trying the applet ejb communication .
    I am very comfortable if I do the same with applet servlet communication but the problem is with the applet calling the ejb directly, i mean to say that can applet can directly lookup the EJB ?
    I had tried on the intranet but we are supposed to give the HOme and remote files to the client also the ejb.jar has to be given as the JVM of the clinet doesnot have the javax.ejb package and all relevant pacakages are to be given,
    There is no meaning of making the client EJB compitable.
    Also what about the security ?
    So can any body help me how to do the same.
    Thanks in advance.
    Milind

    Remove ur applet ejb communication by
    applet to servlet/serverside class then from that servlet/serverside clas to ejb..
    This concept is done by a pattern called 'business delegate'.
    By using this approach u need not give the stub and skull to the front end side (jsp/applet/or anything like that).
    just call the servlet/class from the applet by keeping that class as passover and thereby the lookup details are moved to that servlet/class that could resolve your problem..
    does my answer make any sense to u..

  • OAS - EJB connectivity

    Hi,
    I've been trying to connect my EJBs with OAS(4.0.8 and 4.0.8.1) on NT. I could not get it connected. Before we continue to spend more time to explore, can somebody tell me if he/she ever made it work successful?
    Raghu, I notice that you've been giving out great advice to others. I tried your methods and I still could not get it connected.
    EJBs on OAS 4.0.8 (I also tried 4.0.8.1 ), today), does anybody make it work at all? Or, we just made some silly mistakes in our configuration.
    We really need to get it work.
    Thanks.

    Raghu,
    In general, I do have the following unknowns:
    1. when I start up OAS (4.0.8 or 4.0.8.1), I get an error on "ORAPERF8.DLL" not found in my path. I could not find this file from my entire PC nor all my Oracle CDs. This has not caused me much problem. I don't know if it causes my problems with EJB connectivity.
    I reinstall OAS many times and this problem does not go away.
    2. I had my Oracle 8i and OAS on the same NT. According to the release notes, we have to do some workarounds and I did. It still did not solve my EJB problems. I installed Oracle 8.0.5. No help.
    3. I have had many different problems during EJB deployments and I had then overcome. Right now, the program hangs when connecting (narrow) to the home interface.
    Tommorrow, I will reinstall my NT, Oracle DB and OAS. I hope I have better luck this way.
    By the way, I've tried the ways you suggested including http://www.domain.com:80/ows-bin/rmproxy.ior
    . I had no problem with it.

  • Applet database connection

    I've written an applet that connects to a MS Access database. This applet works fine when run in Appletviewer (with the policy file included). The problem is when I try to run it in a Browser the applet is "not initialized" Can anyone suggest a solution. The point of this applet is to be placed on a web page and it will access the database on the same server. The applet will never have to talk to the machnine it's being run on. Thanks in advance

    I just checked the error message in the Java Console and I get the following message.
    java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.lang.RuntimePermission accessClassInPackage.sun.jdbc.odbc) at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(Unknown Source)
    the applet simply looks in the database and outputs some text to the browser based on what's in the database. It write nothing to the server or anywhere else. I set up the permissions via a policy file. Is there a way to allow the browser to access the policy file??
    for instance in appletviewer I can provide the following
    appletviewer -J-Djava.security.policy=policyfile page.htm
    where policyfile is the policy file with the appropriate permissions. How can I get the webbrowser to access this file???
    thanks again

    I have an signed applet, it may connect to other host.

    return messageString;
    and yet u need to signed the applet
    1. Compile the applet
    2. Create a JAR file
    3. Generate Keys
    4. Sign the JAR file
    5. Export the Public Key Certificate
    6. Import the Certificate as a Trusted Certificate
    7. Create the policy file
    8. Run the applet
    Susan
    Susan bundles the applet executable in a JAR file, signs the JAR file, and exports the public key certificate.
    1. Compile the Applet
    In her working directory, Susan uses the javac command to compile the SignedAppletDemo.java class. The output from the javac command is the SignedAppletDemo.class.
    javac SignedAppletDemo.java
    2. Make a JAR File
    Susan then makes the compiled SignedAppletDemo.class file into a JAR file. The -cvf option to the jar command creates a new archive (c), using verbose mode (v), and specifies the archive file name (f). The archive file name is SignedApplet.jar.
    jar cvf SignedApplet.jar SignedAppletDemo.class
    3. Generate Keys
    Susan creates a keystore database named susanstore that has an entry for a newly generated public and private key pair with the public key in a certificate. A JAR file is signed with the private key of the creator of the JAR file and the signature is verified by the recipient of the JAR file with the public key in the pair. The certificate is a statement from the owner of the private key that the public key in the pair has a particular value so the person using the public key can be assured the public key is authentic. Public and private keys must already exist in the keystore database before jarsigner can be used to sign or verify the signature on a JAR file.
    In her working directory, Susan creates a keystore database and generates the keys:
    keytool -genkey -alias signFiles -keystore susanstore -keypass kpi135 -dname "cn=jones" -storepass ab987c
    This keytool -genkey command invocation generates a key pair that is identified by the alias signFiles. Subsequent keytool command invocations use this alias and the key password (-keypass kpi135) to access the private key in the generated pair.
    The generated key pair is stored in a keystore database called susanstore (-keystore susanstore) in the current directory, and accessed with the susanstore password (-storepass ab987c).
    The -dname "cn=jones" option specifies an X.500 Distinguished Name with a commonName (cn) value. X.500 Distinguished Names identify entities for X.509 certificates.
    You can view all keytool options and parameters by typing:
    keytool -help
    4. Sign the JAR File
    JAR Signer is a command line tool for signing and verifying the signature on JAR files. In her working directory, Susan uses jarsigner to make a signed copy of the SignedApplet.jar file.
    jarsigner -keystore susanstore -storepass ab987c -keypass kpi135 -signedjar SSignedApplet.jar SignedApplet.jar signFiles
    The -storepass ab987c and -keystore susanstore options specify the keystore database and password where the private key for signing the JAR file is stored. The -keypass kpi135 option is the password to the private key, SSignedApplet.jar is the name of the signed JAR file, and signFiles is the alias to the private key. jarsigner extracts the certificate from the keystore whose entry is signFiles and attaches it to the generated signature of the signed JAR file.
    5. Export the Public Key Certificate
    The public key certificate is sent with the JAR file to the whoever is going to use the applet. That person uses the certificate to authenticate the signature on the JAR file. To send a certificate, you have to first export it.
    5: Export the Public Key Certificate
    The public key certificate is sent with the JAR file to the whoever is going to use the applet. That person uses the certificate to authenticate the signature on the JAR file. To send a certificate, you have to first export it.
    In her working directory, Susan uses keytool to copy the certificate from susanstore to a file named SusanJones.cer as follows:
    keytool -export -keystore susanstore -storepass ab987c -alias signFiles -file SusanJones.cer
    Ray
    Ray receives the JAR file from Susan, imports the certificate, creates a policy file granting the applet access, and runs the applet.
    6. Import Certificate as a Trusted Certificate
    Ray has received SSignedApplet.jar and SusanJones.cer from Susan. He puts them in his home directory. Ray must now create a keystore database (raystore) and import the certificate into it. Ray uses keytool in his home directory /home/ray to import the certificate:
    keytool -import -alias susan -file SusanJones.cer -keystore raystore -storepass abcdefgh
    7. Create the Policy File
    The policy file grants the SSignedApplet.jar file signed by the alias susan permission to create newfile (and no other file) in the user's home directory.
    Ray creates the policy file in his home directory using either policytool or an ASCII editor.
    keystore "/home/ray/raystore";
    // A sample policy file that lets a JavaTM program
    // create newfile in user's home directory
    // Satya N Dodda
    grant SignedBy "susan"
    permission java.security.AllPermission;
    8. Run the Applet in Applet Viewer
    Applet Viewer connects to the HTML documents and resources specified in the call to appletviewer, and displays the applet in its own window. To run the example, Ray copies the signed JAR file and HTML file to /home/aURL/public_html and invokes Applet viewer from his home directory as follows:
    Html code :
    </body>
    </html>
    <OBJECT classid="clsid:8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93"

    <PARAM NAME="archive" VALUE="SSignedApplet.jar">

    </OBJECT>
    </body>
    </html>
    appletviewer -J-Djava.security.policy=Write.jp
    http://aURL.com/SignedApplet.html
    Note: Type everything on one line and put a space after Write.jp
    The -J-Djava.security.policy=Write.jp option tells Applet Viewer to run the applet referenced in the SignedApplet.html file with the Write.jp policy file.
    Note: The Policy file can be stored on a server and specified in the appletviewer invocation as a URL.
    9. Run the Applet in Browser
    Download JRE 1.3 from Javasoft
    good luck! [email protected]
    i already give u many tips, i use 2 weeks to try this to success, hopw that u understand that, a result of success is not important, the process of how to get things done is most usefull!

  • Applet socket connect behaves wrong.

    Hi,
    I have a very strange behavior from the Socket connect method. When i run the code attached as an applet the connect returns as if the connection is established (no machine on my network with the address 12.12.12.12 and ping to 12.12.12.12 fails as expected).
    When i run it from a command line (in a stadard main) the connect behaves as expected an i get an exception.

  • Applet security connecting to hosts

    it is said that unsigned applets cannot connect to hosts other than the origin host.
    - By origin host, is it the host from where the html is downloaded or the host from where the jar file is downloaded?
    - should the applet be connecting using the exact hostname or its ip address can also be used?
    - signed applet doesnt have any of these restrictions right?
    - are there any restrictions on connecting to hosts using appletcontext.showDocument? I guess no - because the page is opened in the browser and available to the applet directly. is this correct for both signed and unsigned appelts? Indirectly the data is available to the applet through live connect, what say?
    Thanks.

    - By origin host, is it the host from where the html is downloaded or the host from where
    the jar file is downloaded?
    The codebase of the applet, use this.getCodeBase() to get an URL object to cennect,
    for a Socket you can use the URL object .getHost and getPort to create a Socket
    allthough a socket doesn't use the browser's settings to make a connection and you
    can have problems when the client uses a proxy or https.
    - should the applet be connecting using the exact hostname or its ip address can also
    be used?
    I think it doesn't really matter but am not sure, use getCodeBase instead of hard
    coding the host .
    - signed applet doesnt have any of these restrictions right?
    Correct, if the user trusts the applet. The user will be asked if he or she trusts the
    applet.
    - are there any restrictions on connecting to hosts using
    appletcontext.showDocument? I guess no - because the page is opened in the
    browser and available to the applet directly. is this correct for both signed and
    unsigned appelts? Indirectly the data is available to the applet through live connect,
    what say?
    appletcontext.showDocument will open a new browser window, don't think there is
    any restrictions in that except that Moz will activate the popup stopper.

    I had the same problem and finally caught a statement in one of the docs: "To facilitate the use of IIOP, always specify a valid IP address or DNS name for the Listen Address attribute in the configuration file (config.xml) to listen for connections." I edited my config.xml file and put in the ip address of the machine running my WLS and things started working. Hope this works for you.

  • Urgent: how to run applet which connected to the servlet?

    hi frends:
    i have written an applet on the server side and it supposed to pass parameters to my servlet and retrieve some info from the servlet.
    i put both applet and servlet under tomcat../WEB-INF/classes. but when i run the applet from the web browser, there is no response from the servlet.
    could anyone help me to solve this problem?
    one more thing is i know that applet is able to connect to servlet, but how about java application? is it able to do so? if yes, is it also using URLconnection as applet? and how to run it?
    i will be very appreciate if anyone can help me... thanx a million.

    You can connect to the servlet from an application.There's a URL class in java.net that has an openConnection method. Then cast the return to an HttpURLConnection and use setMethod to set up as a post request.This may be the default if you call setDoOutput(true) on the URLConnection. Then you'll need to get an OutputStream and write properly formatted form POST data to it. It's also possible to encode your data on the URL, even when using the POST method, and this may be easier when doing it programmatically from an application. To send a get request you can append the name-value pair at the end of the url.
