Application Goes To Already Compliant Instantly

Hello,
I am working with the Office Scrub script for Office 2010 and attempting to get it to remove Office from ~4500 desktops.  I built the app and set it to run the .cmd.  For the Detection Method I have it checking in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft
Office to see if the Office14 folder exists.  I've verified on several test systems that this path and folder name are correct.  As soon as I deploy to my test collection, all 12 systems show up as "Already Compliant" - this happens almost
instantly.  When I look at the SCCM logs on the desktops, they haven't even seen the application yet so I don't know how they can be compliant.  I'm not sure what I'm overlooking.  Any thoughts?
TIA

So, having rebuilt the app using all the same settings but adding the quotes like this "offscrub.cmd", I get exactly the same results.  Once I deployed it I waited until I saw a status change on one of the desktops and in about 3 minutes it
shows as "Already Compliant".  So I looked in the logs and found this in the AppIntentEval.log:
Current State = NotInstalled, Applicability = Applicable, ResolvedState = NotInstalled, ConfigureState = NotNeeded, Title = ScrubOffice2010
Current state is reporting it didn't find the folder and thus it thinks the program doesn't exist.
EIDT:  I think I see your issue.
You are looking for "program files x86" but you've checked the box associating 32bit in 64 systems ...I'm pretty sure this means SCCM will launch a 32bit cmd prompt and try to look under %programfiles% (basically try to out-smart the redirect that
happens in a 32bit environment) and get confused.
Just flip your detection to: %programfiles%\Microsoft Office\Office 14
OR don't use the check-box at the bottom and define both %programfiles% ad %programfiles(x86)% as possible paths.
Here's a fast screenshot.  I had a similar problem in detecting the ADK and went simple like this:
Note i just put an OR and defined both a %prgramfiles% and another for %prgramfiles(x86%)

  • SCCM Office 2010 Deployment - "already compliant"?

Hi, I am deploying Office 2010 successfully to a group of machines on our network. It looks like there are machines that state "already compliant" even though the install definetely has not gone through. I checked some of the logs no record. Also
    reinstalled the sccm agent.
In Software Centre - Installed Software - under Size 0 it states "Less than 1 MB". Going around in cycles here.
    Any ideas?
    SCCM - 2012 R2 / Windows 7 Ent / Office 2010 Pro Plus
    Thanks

Hi Paul, i dont have access to that info. Any idea how i get that it? CHeers
    Its Application deployment
To check the detection method. Select the application and then choose the Deployment Types tab at the bottom of the console.
Double click the Windows Installer msi deployment that appears. Then select the Detection Method tab. This will show you the detection method being used.
    Cheers

Hi Paul, sorry for the late reply. the deployment type is registry:
    SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{90140000-001B-0409-0000-0000000FF1CE}
I have checked the compliant list and its strange, some are compliant and some are not. I have removed the above, and set the detection to File System:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14
    Excel.exe
Do i need to redeploy the software?
    Cheers

  • A later version of Apple Application Support is already installed on this computer.

I am trying to update / install iTunes 12.0.1.26.  Apple Application Support will not install because it says there is already a later version installed.  There is not!  I have uninstalled after initial message and tried to reinstall but I still recieve the same message.

    Good Afternoon, JohnHT2!
I think I have the fix to your issue.
I've been experiencing the same issue as you describe above. The issue occurred for me during the upgrade process from version 11.4.0.18 to version 12.0.1.26 (which is the current version downloadable from Apple).  The installation sometimes appears to be okay, but the Apple Application Support fails to update correctly.  In other instances, the iTunes installation fails completely with error 1603 (which is generic "fatal error" code).
    Symptoms:
Just some of the symptoms I've noticed in my environment.
    - In Programs & Features, there is no Apple Application Support to uninstall.
    - In Event Viewer's Application log, you may see Event ID 10005 from Source MsiInstaller, stating the dreaded error message "A later version of Apple Application Support is already installed on this computer."
    - In Event Viewer's Application log, you may see Event ID 1000 from Source Application Error, stating "Faulting application name: MsiExec.exe" along with a bunch of other error details.
    - When attempting to start iTunes, you may receive popup error "Apple Application Support was not found.  Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes.  Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again".
    - Uninstalling and installing iTunes fails, including via the steps described for a "full uninstall" as described here on the Apple site (for instance: Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates)
    - Installing Apple Application Support via the extracted MSI (AppleApplicationSupport.msi) fails with the same error: "A later version of Apple Application Support is already installed on this computer."
    - Installing previous versions of Apple Application Support fails with the same error (tried versions 10.7.0.21, 11.0.0.163, 11.0.1.012, 11.0.3.42, 11.1.0.126, 11.1.3.8, 11.2.2.3, 11.3.0.54, 11.3.1.2, 11.4.0.18).  (now that I know the issue, I'm confident any previous version of the installer will fail).
    - If you run the MSI installation with verbose logging, you may see lines stating: "PROPERTY CHANGE: Adding BNEWERPRODUCTISINSTALLED property. Its value is '1'." and "PreventDowngrade. Return value 1."
There may be other indications, but these are things we ran into.  I'm trying to be detailed so that other folks who run into this issue may feel better about the below fixes being an option for them.
    Resolutions:
I've found two ways to remedy the issue in our environment.  You can either use the Microsoft FixIt utility to clean up the previous installation for us, or you can edit the registry manually to repair the installation.  We're in an office and prefer not going computer-to-computer to fix everyone's issue independently, so we had to go via the registry.  I was able to fix it via both ways, though.
Fix 1: Run the Microsoft Program Install Uninstall Troubleshooter.
For this fix you will need to be logged in as an administrator for the computer.
    Here are the steps:
Download and Run the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall FixIt: [FixIt Link]
In the troubleshooter, choose: Detect problems and apply the fixes for me (Recommended)
    Choose Installing
From the list, select Apple Application Support and click Next. (it actually does appear here!)
Select Yes, try uninstall. This step could take a while to process once it starts.
Once it confirms it is fixed, click Next.
Select "Yes, the problem has been fixed" and click Next.
    Finish/close the FixIt tool.
Now the Apple Application Support will install successfully on your next attempt.
    - If you don't have iTunes installed, you can simply run the latest downloaded installer: iTunes64Setup.exe
    - If the other iTunes components are already installed, you will need to go to Programs & Features (or Add/Remove programs) and uninstall the iTunes program, then re-install the program from the downloaded installer: iTunes64Setup.exe
    - If you have the MSI, you can simple run AppleApplicationSupport.msi and carry on happily.  Make sure it's the right version of the MSI (right-click it, select Properties, go to the Details tab and verify the Comment line says "Apple Application Support 3.1").  If you don't know what an MSI is... ignore this and use the installer.
iTunes should work perfectly normally for you now.
    Fix 2:
If you're like me and you need to repair iTunes over a larger number of computers, then Fix 1 quickly becomes too time consuming.  Thankfully, a quick registry edit will resolve the issue as well.
For more advanced users; if you're not sure what the Windows Registry is, please tread very carefully and make sure you back up the registry before you change anything!
You'll need to be an administrator on the computer to do this.
    Start Registry Editor.
In Windows 8.1, you can right-click the start menu (flag in the bottom-right corner) and choose Run.  Then type "regedit" and click OK.
In Windows 8, go to the Start menu, click the magnifying glass (or just start typing) and search for "regedit".  The first result should be "regedit.exe" - click that.
In Windows Vista, click the Start menu, then click the little arrowing pointing to the right (>) and choose Run.  Then type "regedit" and click OK.
In Windows 7 or XP, click the Start menu orb, and choose "Run...". Then type "regedit" and click OK.
Make a backup of your registry. In Registry Editor, right-click on "Computer" and choose "Export".  Save the file somewhere on your computer.  You'll probably never need it.. which are famous last words.  Better safe than sorry!
    Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\ED0FAC38B3D873C46A13B2F861CE0313\
If the key "ED0FAC38B3D873C46A13B2F861CE0313" doesn't exist, then go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products and make sure "Products" is highlighted.
Go to the Edit menu and choose "Find...".
Do a search for "Apple Application Support".
Your first result should be a ProductName value of "Apple Application Support".
Verify at the very bottom of Registry Editor that your current location is "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\[GUID], where GUID is an alphanumeric string that's 32 characters long.
    Right-click "Version" and choose "Modify".
In Value Data, type 0 (the number zero) and click OK.
    Close Registry Editor.
You should now be able to successfully install the AppleApplicationSupport.msi or re-install iTunes.  If, for whatever reason, it still detects the wrong version, go back to the Registry Editor and delete the entire key from above (so, right-click on the 'folder' named "ED0FAC38B3D873C46A13B2F861CE0313" and select "Delete").  Should never be necessary, though..
In a Windows domain there are many ways to update the registry so use whatever works best for you.  I'll be adding this as a special extra step in our SCCM deployment.
I hope this helps!  It took us a good many hours to track down what was stopping us from resolving the issue (and/or causing it to begin with).  Suffice to say we now have a whole bunch of users who are very happy to no longer get iTunes error messages when they log into their computers or attempt to start iTunes itself.
    Have a great day!

  • Deployment Status: Already Compliant

I'm attempting to deploy an application whose detection method is as follows:
When I deploy this deployment type to a device, it comes back as already compliant, even though I know the file is not present on the client.
Is there something other than detection method that may trigger a device as already compliant?

check the application from add and remove programs ,if you are sure that no application found from there, you can check program files if any binaries resides with .exe file.
also check the logs if client retrieved the updated policies or any issues with it.If the appdiscovery.log says, already compliant then there must be entries reside on the computer.

  • A later version of Apple Application Support is already installed on this computer - dead lock

    Hello,
trying to solve itunes problems, i tried to completely uninstall itunes, as mentioned in article
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925?viewlocale=es_ES
(uninstall modules in order, verify uninstallation, reboot, and reinstall itunes)
However, it wasn't possible to reinstall itunes. Digging in forum i found a method to install part by part the application, by means of unraring the installer .exe file and executing modules independently.
The fist module: AppleApplicationSupport.msi won't install, because it does a check (erroneus check!!) and detects an inexistent version of Apple Application Support. It shows message: "A later version of Apple Application Support is already installed on this computer", and goes out.
After that, i can install itunes, but do not work.
I tried cleaning registry with msicuu2.exe, as mentioned somewhere to eliminate Application Support rests, but doesn't find any Application Support Installation.
    Locked. Can't use iTunes.
    Please, any help
    Thank you very much.

Not yet. I tried apple telephone support, but couldn't get a definite answer.
In my opinion a installer program should try to install in every case, overriding any version that could be degraded. It's a nonsense that a installer program goes out without installing, suposing there are no degradation issues of the installation software.
Also, i think KB article http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923 may need a correction, as it doesn't work fine always, and the cure is worse than the disease.

    Application Type: Flex Mobile Application

I want to run some code just before iphone application goes into background. I need function similar to didEnterBackground

    I used following addEventListener:
    STAGE = this.parent.stage;
    STAGE.addEventListener(Event.DEACTIVATE, onAppDeactivated);
It worked for me but only when device is connected to development environment in debug mode. When I create my release build
    it is not working.
So how can I make sure that my code runs before application goes into background.

  • IPhoto application goes away

    IPhoto application goes away.
I have 10.2.8 17" iMac I get upgrades, but have had iPhoto crash log twice. Pictures are still on computer. Just can't open them. What am I doing wrong.
    Pat

First guess is a corrupt preference (plist) file. Drag the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the Preferences folder to the trash.
If iPhoto still doesn't load, then I'd suspect a corrupt album. You can verify by temporarily dragging the folder named "Albums" from the iPhoto Library folder to the desktop. If iPhoto starts (you'll notice most of the albums gone), either be happy and make new albums, or quit iPhoto and move the albums folder back. Start iPhoto and immediately hold down the commandoptionshift keys (for iPhoto 4) or option+shift keys (for iPhoto 2), to rebuild the library database.
iPhoto 4 is known to occasionally crash at the end of the rebuild process, but relaunching iPhoto usually finds everything in order. Corrupt albums will have been discarded.

  • Problem updating cs6 "application manager is already running..." ?

    Hi everybody
When im trying to update CS6 the application manager app don doit and give this message: "adobe application manager is already running, please close other instances before applying updates."
There is not other instances of the application manager running? how could this error be fixed?
    thanks for your help

Yes, of course, I have checked and there is only one instance of the Adobe Application Manager.
    The 2 updates are:
    Photoshop 13.1.2 for Creative Cloud
    Adobe Bridge CS6 5.0.2 Update
This problem originally started before Christmas with the Photoshop update.  When the Bridge update became available this month, it also had the same issue.
Up until the Photoshop update problem, other updates worked fine.

Go to Settings, Store, Apple ID, Sign out and then sign back in again and have another go.
Also, try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!

    Any help would be nice
    thanks

Sleep Cause: 5 is normal system sleep initiated by Energy Saver. Grep "wake reason". It will result in extracting additional helpful log entries.
There are numerous causes for the system to wake periodically but obviously its Internet connection should not be lost upon waking, and it should not be required for you to disconnect / reconnect the Thunderbolt to Ethernet connector to reestablish connection. The usual first step in resolving a problem such as that would be an SMC reset. Try that, followed by an NVRAM reset according to the instructions below.
It may have no effect on the problem but it's the first thing AppleCare would have you do, so you might as well try it before resorting to calling them.
Power or other problems related to unexpected system sleep, shutdown, lights or fans call for an SMC reset. Read all the steps.
    Before Resetting the SMC
Try each of the following steps in this order before you reset the SMC. Test the issue after completing each troubleshooting step to determine if the issue still occurs.
Press Command + Option + Escape to force quit any application that is not responding.
Put your Mac to sleep by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Sleep. Wake the computer after it has gone to sleep.
Restart your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Restart.
Shut down your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Shut Down.
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if it's not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time. The power adapter indicator light will cycle off / on once.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    NVRAM reset:
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
After resetting NVRAM or PRAM, you may need to reconfigure your settings for speaker volume, screen resolution, startup disk selection, and time zone information. If issues persist, your Mac's logic board battery (not a portable Mac's rechargeable battery) may need to be replaced. The logic board battery helps retain NVRAM/PRAM settings when your computer is shut down. You can take your Mac to a Mac Genius or Apple Authorized Service Provider to replace the battery on the logic board.
    - Synology NAS for Shares and TimeMachine over Gigabit Ethernet Adapter not WLan
It may not be related to the problem you describe, but you should know this is not a supported Time Machine configuration, and the Time Machine backups being created with that configuration should not be considered reliable.
The exhaustive list of devices supported by Time Machine amounts to the following:
AirPort Time Capsule's built-in hard disk (any model)
External USB hard disk drive connected to a Time Capsule (any model)
External USB hard disk drive connected to an AirPort Extreme (current model only)
A hard disk drive directly connected either to the source Mac, or a Mac on your local network.
    That is all.
Use whatever backup device you want, but you should be aware that this site is full of reports of misery from hapless individuals who had been using third party NAS devices for Time Machine backups, only to find that they were incomplete, corrupted, or useless in the dire circumstances in which they were required. Apple won't care if you lose your data while using a Time Machine configuration specifically excluded from their technical support documents.

  • VOD - application goes down after a while (only some instances)

    Hello Guys,
I have a simple VOD application running on FMS 3.5.5 which I need to stream continuously but I'm unable to identify the correct configuration to do so. I removed as much limit details as I could from those XML file: Server.xml, Application.xml and VHost.xml.
Basically I have arround 15 different streams but all of sudden some of them, NOT ALL, goes down with no explanation (as I could see).
As per logs, there is no much details but "application unloaded".
Can someone pls help me to identify what else needs to be changed in order to have those stream playing continuously? Usually they went down after some hours in idle state. But I'm not sure whether it's related to CPU/Memory usage. My server has 8GB of memory, and when I start playing all those stream the memory goes down till 52mb free (50mb to 53mb usually). "All" memory is allocated to cache, and it seems there is no problem with that.

  • Screen flashes... or an application goes full screen then disappears??!

A weird and definitely not-normal phenomenon has been happening lately. Somewhat rarely (every 5-6 hours) it seems like my screen flashes. Very briefly.. less than a second. It almost looks as if theres some application that goes full screen, then disappears, or maybe the screen just flashes. Something is definitely not right.
I don't see anything abnormal in my console though... nor in activity monitor. I've checked for loose connections, etc, and ran hardware tests. Cleared SMC and Pram. I consider myself quite computer savvy, and I install almost no applications, and keep everything nicely optimized.
    I'm using a Dell 3007WFP-HC display, FWIW.

Some people started having trouble with 8800GT after 10.5.7. Some even went back to 10.5.6 (good reason to always keep a backup boot system with last OS version).
Or start worrying it is the 8800GT going. Easy to test for IF you have an alternate graphics card handy.
Heat. Summer. 8800's don't do enough to kick in and properly cool the card on its own - single slot cards are not good at cooling and venting.

  • Get a handle on an application that has already been launched

    Hi all,
My requirement is to get a handle on my application if it is already launched. This is because whenever a client clicks on a link to the swing app, it should not open a new instance, instead it should use the existing application if it is running. A new instance should be created only if there is no other instance of the application running.
    Please help ASAP
    Thanks in advance,
    Zeus
