Application Module- Exposed services ADF 11g

Hi,
I had tried to expose few methods in AM so that I can invoke them from BPEL.
As per my understanding , only the methods which return primitive type like int,long (for eg : int getCount(int a,int b){}) are only allowed to be exposed.
When I tried to expose methods that return any arraytype say int[], long[],String[] or Arraylist ,I could not find those methods in the available Service Custom methods in the Service Interface tab of ADF-AM.Also, I got few warnings that those methods with return type as [] will not be supported.
Is there any workaround for this ?How can we expose methods that return arrays or arraylist in adf-AM.
Any pointers would help.
thanks

Only types that implement the java.io.Serializable interface are allowed in the method signature. • Use of application module pool and ADF Busines Components

    Hi to all;
    Lets suppose an web application with about 10 CRUD forms and 15 to 20 reports or forms just to query and show data;
    That's clear to me, all the advantages of using App modules pool.
    But for that reports ..... Just an Read only and Forward Only data ?
    I was wondering, if it will be more effective and lightweight if we just take an JNDI JDBC connection query data and show it.
    This imaginary application will make use of application module pool to provide that 10 CRUD web forms and in other hand, will have for reports,JNDI data sources;
    What are your opinion about having this two architectural approach working together in one application ?
    Very thanks;

    Brazil;

    Hi Deepak;
    BC4J in my opinion is great and i am proud to share this opinion with all of you;
    As a meter of fact, i post this thread to help me better understand BC4J architecture.
    I think that my doubt main point is ...
    Are application modules pool's life cycle an extra work , when the job is just to read and show data ?
    Perhaps, an document about statefull and/or stateless application service release, help me;
    IMHO;
    cached data most of the time must to be discarted for reports, always we want to query database directly, View's object ClearCache() method would be called to reports.
    I think that it's different, when we are talking about sequent requests when we need to span the session, views and entities states.
    Forwards Thanks;

  • ADF panel executes all queries in the application module.

    Hi all,
    I have created an ADF Panel, which allows the user to run a few simple queries against an Oracle database done using ADF view objects and ADF view links and ADF application module.
    As I add more functionality meaning more available queries meaning more ADF views and ADF view links, running the Application Modules becomes slower.
    Let’s say the application module AM1 is made of 30 different view links. And application module AM2 is made of another 30 view links.
    Now let’s say that ADF Panel1 references 8 view links from AM1, but it appears that all 30 view links that make up Application Module AM1 are executed before returning the result sets of the 8 view links referenced in ADF Panel1. Let me also underline the fact that each view link in Application Module AM1 can be executed independently, so the question is how I can make Jdev not to run all 30 queries in view links in the Application Module AM1 when ADF Panel1 is executed, but just the 8 that are referenced in the ADF panel1.
    I hope I made my question understood.
    Your inputs are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Bobby A.

    Hi,
    if this is what you see then you should file a bug because certainly its not the way it is designed to work. Note that in JDeveloper 11g - you don't specify the release you are on - the iterators by default are set to refresh deferred. Only iterators that belong to a PageDef file are executed when the page loads (you can suppress this by setting a refresh condition). Other queries are not executed

  • ADF Libary Issue - Application Module disappear from data control

    Hi All,
    I am facing an issue while adding an Application module to an ADF project as an ADF libray.
    I have two applications - ADF Application1 with Model1 project having an Application module AM1, ADF Application2 with Model2 project having an Application Module AM2
    I have created an ADF library jar file of Model1 project.
    When I add it to Model2 project, the Application Module AM2 of Model2 disappears and Application Module AM1 from the library appears in data control.
    Please suggest what could be wrong.
    Regards,

    Hi,
    verify that both application modules don't share the same ID in their databindings.cpx file. Which release version of JDeveloper 11g are you on ?

  • Accessing application module in a POJO for SOA architecural question

    Hi,
    I have an architectural question. We have an app in jdev 11.1.1.1.0 that has app modules and jsf pages. It works great. I am of the thought that biz logic should not be contained in managed beans but in a POJO which is more tied to the model part. For example, if i have a method to calculate salaray, i would rather put that in a POJO that accesses appmodule to get the vo and related query instead of doing all this in a backing bean method.
    I understand from Steve's tips that accessing app module directly is not a good idea (see "When should I use Configuration.createRootApplicationModule(), and when not?" at http://radio-weblogs.com/0118231/2003/08/01.html) .
    ApplicationModule am = Configuration.createRootApplicationModule(
    "com.oracle.apps.hr.personnel.HiringModule",
    "HiringModuleLocal");
    But then how do you go about making your app more modularized and decoupled that can expose a particular SOA service such as POJO.calcSalary() if you are not supposed to access app module in a pojo. Any other way to do it?
    Another customer is asking pretty much along the same lines at Re: ADF BC 11 - best practice question

    Have you looked at AM level service methods?
    See 9.7 Customizing an Application Module with Service Methods
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/web.1111/b31974/bcservices.htm#sm0206
    These service methods can be accessed from your JSF page with simple binding (see http://www.screentoaster.com/watch/stWUtcRkVLQ1FcRVxZXVhZ/service_method_on_am )
    And they can also be exposed through a web service interface to the AM, see: http://download.oracle.com/otn_hosted_doc/jdeveloper/11gdemos/CreatingSDO-Demo/CreatingSDO.html

  • Change output WebService in ADF 11g

    Hi for all,
    I created a Application Module in my ADF application and exposed the VO's methods as a Service, then now I would like to change the output of these Web Service, instead of application/xml to application/json.
    How can I do that ? I'm using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.6

    Thank you Shay! And sorry I could not respond earlier as I was busy with production installs and did not get chance to try out what you suggested.
    I tried what you suggested but somehow the evt.cancel does not seem to be cancelling this event. I was wondering if this is a non-cancellable event.
    Here is the java script code snippet I have tried -
    <code>
    function launchTableRowScroller(evt)
    ENTER_KEY = 0; //call delete command if ctrl+g key is pressed
    keyPressed = evt.getKeyCode();
    modifiers = evt.getKeyModifiers();
    alert("keypressed = " + keyPressed);
    if (keyPressed == ENTER_KEY)
    alert("Enter key captured");
    alert("modifier matched");
    evt.cancel();
    <code>
    I used the exact function with a different keystroke and also had to remove the AdfKeyStroke.CTRL_MASK check for modifiers as I was not sure if I really needed it. I also have a client listener defined in the table.
    I get all three alerts - keypressed = 0, Enter key captured and modifier matched but somehow the focus still gets to the next row in the table.
    Can you please suggest, what I might be doing wrong here?
    Thanks

  • OLT 12.2.0.1 & ADF 11g R2 (11.1.2.3)

    Hi,
    I am evaluating the OLT ADF Module for testing applications developed with JDeveloper/ADF 11g R2.
    Unfortunately, the latest version of JDeveloper/ADF 11.1.2.3(PS3) looks like not compatible with OLT release 12.2.0.1 (Openscript 12.2.0.1 Build 238). During the playback I get the error “Failed to solve variable web.framesrc.afrPushIframe using path .//IFRAME[@name='afr::PushIframe']/@src“ even in a very simple “hello world” application.
    Conversely the same project running in JDeveloper/ADF 11.1.2.1 (PS1) works fine.
    In the OpenScript Users’ Guide there is no reference for ADF R2 but only for only for the ADF R1.
    Is the ADF 11g R2 supported in the current release of OLT ?
    Additionally if anyone has any tip for how to use the OLT 12.2.0.1.0 with ADF R2 PS3 it would be very helpful to share it with me.

    :-(Hi! You're not alone :)
    We tried to record some load tests (OpenScript 12.2.0.1 Build 223) for our ADF R2 application.
    But during the playback I had the same error: "Failed to solve variable web.framesrc.afrPushIframe using path .//IFRAME[@name='afr::PushIframe']/@src ".
    Haven't you found the solution yet?
    By the way, when I use operation "Revert to Recorded" for all nodes of my test and playback it again, I see in results that the script has passed without errors, but nothing has changed in database.
    Thanks.

  • Urgent!!! Need help with ADF 11g app deployment

    Hi,
    My application is designed using ADF 11g and am using adfc-config.xml for page flow.
    Through Jdev 11g integrated WLS server the application is running smoothly.
    But when i deployed application using EAR file on WLS 11g server and accessed the appliction, the page flow didnt worked.
    That is i tried opening login page of my application, it opened. Then i provided login credentials , they were successfully validated.
    But after that the application home page did not apperaed and application stuck at Login page only. The page flow didnt worked.
    Please help on this, its urgent...

    Thanks Timo/Arun,
    The problem was same as figured by you. :)
    The application is running smoothly in IE7 but in Mozilla 3.0.15 it is not running.
    There it is throwing error:

  • Nested application modules

    Hi,
    Is it (somehow) possible to nest an application module from another adf bc project?
    Using JDev 10.1.3.3 and JHeadstart 10.1.3.2.51.

    Thanx for your quick reply.
    Is it possible to include the AM from the other project on design time and have it appear in the AM editor (as it would be with nested AM's from the same project)?

  • Exception while exposing Application Module Methods as Web Service

    Hello Everyone,
    I am working on Jdeveloper 11.1.1.3.0 version and tried to expose one method of application module as web service. To do this, i used "Service Interface" tab of Application module within Jdeveloper and Jdeveloper had generated all interfaces, stubs, code for the Session bean required for web service. I am now trying to "Test Web Service" from the implementation class generated then i am getting this error in Weblogic deployment. Any help/pointers would be highly appreciated.
    I used another installation of Jdeveloper same version at my collegues desktop but getting the same error. Not sure, if this version of Jdeveloper is having issue in exposing application module as web service. I think that database related exception can be ignored as no database call is being made by the application.

  • Exposing Application Module as Webservice - Query

    Hi,
         I have a few queries regarding ADF Business Components. It will be great if you guys answer these queries:
    1. Application Module can be exposed as web service. In this scenario, does ADF support clustering?
    2. If AM is exposed as WS, what is the implication in terms of performance and availability?
    3. I could not find information related to clustering, performance and availability of WS in ADF developer guide. So, please provide any similar implementations, support statements, articles, blogs, etc for the above two queries.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Saravanan.

    Saravanan, there is a powerful, new web services feature in ADF BC in the 11g release called "Service Interface". If you use the Technology Preview 4 release from OTN, you can follow
    along with this Oracle Magazine article to learn more about the
    feature: [Services
    with a Smile|http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/08-jan/o18frame.html]
    Unfortunately, since the feature depends on some SOA infrastructure
    that was not ready in time on WebLogic for the first production
    JDeveloper 11g release (due out on OTN very, very soon), the Service
    Interface feature had to be removed along with the Business Events feature
    from the initial JDev/ADF 11g production release. It is planned to be
    re-introduced in the JDev/ADF release that will ship with the full
    Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g production release in the first half of
    calendar 2009.
    So, in the initial JDeveloper 11g production release the only kind of
    web services that can use ADFBC components would be ones you
    hand-create. As stateless components, they should work fine in a
    clustered environment (both now and when the "Service Interface"
    feature goes production along with the complete FMW 11g suite.

    Hi,
    Did you configure your application module to use a JDBC data source? To do this, right-click the app module in the navigator, select Configurations and in the dialog that comes up change the connection type to JDBC Data Source and enter your data source name - which should be the same as the data source you created on the weblogic server.
    Also, I do suggest you create an EAR file - this is what we've tested and certified with. You can find more details in the deployment chapter of the fusion developer's guide: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/deployment_topics.htm#CHDJJDDG.

    Hello! i'm using Jdev 11g (not tp4) and i have Adf applicarion which uses BC4J, thereofre in jdev exists connection to DB.
    When i start my application in Jdev, it starts Weblogic and deploys my application. And all works fine!

    before deploy, i've been created JDBC DataSource in Weblogic server, using Weblogic webinterface (connection test was OK)
    and now, when i start my application, entering application Url in internet explorer, i see that exception has ariced, her is the stack trace

    in Weblogic datasource name is the same
    Question: how to bind my application in weblogic to existed connection/datasource in weblogic?
    how Jdev deploys and configures Weblogic server, that it works fine, but when i start THE SAME server manually, deploy application using JDEV the application execution failed (see above exception)
    maybe i should use EAR profile instead of WAR, to deploy all connections and other stuff to weblogic?

  • Error when generating Web Services Proxy for SCA Application Module

    Hello,
    I'm trying to create Web Services for a simple Application Module with JDeveloper 11g (11.1.1.3.0).
    I start a new ADF Project, I create an Application Module as simple as possible : it contains only a simple View Object on the DEPT Entity.
    On my Application Module, I choose "Service Interface" and I add my View Object in the service interface.
    I test my Web Service in the Embedded Weblogic Server, it works well. (I succeed in using the Get operation, for example).
    But when I try to generate a Web Service proxy (right-click on the WSDL File -> Generate Web Service Proxy), It always fail with such errors :
    oracle.jdeveloper.webservices.tools.WsdlValidationException: Error creating model from wsdl "file:/C:/JDeveloper/mywork/ApplicationAppelServiceSCA/Model/src/model/common/AppModuleService.wsdl": 'unset' is already defined'Bytes' is already defined'ref' is already defined'Duration' is already defined'Types' is already defined'Character' is already defined'type' is already defined'Day' is already defined'nestedInterfaces' is already defined'Date' is already defined'datagraph' is already defined'Type' is already defined'Integer' is already defined'ModelsType' is already defined'ChangeSummaryType' is already defined'instanceClass' is already defined'Month' is already defined'DataObject' is already defined'javaClass' is already defined'LongObject' is already defined'DateTime' is already defined'dataObject' is already defined'YearMonth' is already defined'ShortObject' is already defined'Long' is already defined'types' is already defined'JavaInfo' is already defined'IntObject' is already defined'Boolean' is already defined'DoubleObject' is already defi...
    Can someone help me to understand this error ?
    i never manually edited the WSDL File, so I don't understand why the generated WSDL or XSD files might contain errors.
    Thanks for your Help,
    Laurent

    We have the same problem, and the problem was in the xsd import:
    The wdsl import a schema that import other schema, the second import use a relative path, that was wrong.
    So check the xsd import sequence....

  • Application module creation for (web) services

    Hello,
    We are running into stack overflows from ADF BC (BC4J) with oracle.jbo.client.Configuration.createRootApplicationModule. We want to make sure we're doing this right.
    If you have data bound services (e.g. product lookup) and you don't want to put your operation/exposed method in the application module Impl class for clear seperation (unlike ADF toy store sample), is it appropriate to:
    1. Create a Java service class that you will expose as J2EE web service
    2. The method to be exposed will call Configuration.createRootApplicationModule to checkout an app module from pool.
    3. Find the view object, run the query, get the row.
    4. Configuration.releaseRootApplicationModule to check it back in.
    Please share your best practices and recommended approach with us.
    Thanks,
    - Zak

    I'd recommend using our built-in feature for exposing an application module class as a J2EE web service. This will code-generate a class for you that does the AM access correctly.
