Applications fail when "mpls mtu 1526" is configured
Hi,
I'm facing an issue with an MPLS VPN backbone.
A customer's IP host at one location can ping and traceroute to application servers at it's central site at another location. The IP path traverses four P/PE routers, as follows:
IP Host (spoke site) -- CE1 -- P/PE1 -- P/PE2 -- P/PE3 -- P/PE4 -- CE2 -- Servers (central site)
However, access to all applications fails.
Network configurations as follows:
(1) All the P/PE routers are Cisco 7609, SUP720-3BXL, IOS 12.2(18)SXF6.
(2) All the core links are configured with "mpls mtu 1526".
(3) All the core links are GE, connected to SPA-2X1GE on a 7600-SIP-400 linecard. Some connect to the SFP port on the SUP720.
(4) Only some of the P/PE routers are configured with "ip tcp path-mtu-discovery".
After removing the command "mpls mtu 1526" from all core links, access to all applications and services works again.
Please advise if I've configured anything wrongly.
Thank you.
B.Rgds,
Lim TS
There are two ways to look at this,
1) First To solve the problem, on all your Core and Core Facings links configure "mtu 1526 or larger" (PE-P, P-P) mtu 1526 or larger.
2) Second "MPLS MTU 1526" command only helps in labelling the fragmented payload which is beyond 1526. Till then if anything is fragmented it doesnt label the fragments.
So now why does it work when its removed,
a) verify what is your actual link mtu.
b) "mpls mtu" command doesnt change the physical mtu it just tells the IOS when to label fragments. and the 1526 is the threshold to fragment the labelled packet and label the fragments also.
c) One important thing to note is even when you dont configure the "mpls mtu" command it is still there by default but now it uses the MTU value of the physical link, so if your link is of 1500 MTU the default "mpls mtu" is also 1500.!
d) also go through this previous thread for more information the same topic has been discussed at length.

Weblogic Windows service fails when aspectwerkz is added to configuration
All,
I have been running weblogic as windows service successfully. Now, we are utilizing AOP from aspectwerkz. I added the necessary settings for aspectwerkz in the install script. After adding the changes, I am able to install the service. However, when I start the service it fails with the MMC error dialog box displaying:
'Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.'
I opened the Event viewer and checked the System events. I see an error which says:
'The beasvc med1d2_med1d2as01 service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No action.'
Unfortunately, the info I get from MMC and event viewer doesn't really help in any way. I tried tweaking 'CMDLINE' and other stuff in the install script to no avail. I would appreciate any help.
Infrastructure information:
OS: Windows Server 2000
App server: Weblogic 8.1 sp4
JDK: Sun JDK 1.4.2 04
Thanks in advance.

MPLS MTU issue (diagram attached)
Dear Experts ,
I'm trying to run MPLS between two 7206 vxr router which is connected behind a Foundry Big Iron L3 router which is configured as a L2 device .
I put on my 7206 as
int gi0/1
ip address 172.16.14.1 255.255.255.0
mpls ip
mpls mtu 1526
But it seems that there is tag assiging ,but traffic like https didn't work after that . is there is any clue ?
Regards
HarisHi ,
There is no way to increase the MTU size on foundry . But it's giving me some error
BigIron1(config-if-e1000-1/8)#ip mtu 1526
Error - 1526 not between 576 and 1500
BigIron1(config-if-e1000-1/8)#mtu ?
Unrecognized command
How can know that whether the foundry supporting giant packets / not ? . I think it's not supporting giants , the following is the output of ping sweep from one cisco router to other one .
If it's not supporting giants what will happens to my mpls packets with size 1508 ? . Is it possible me to put the command "mpls mtu 1500" ,so that mpls mtu will limit to 1500
router1#ping

the ping is same with and without DF bit set after enabling MPLS . But before enabling tag switching as I remember I was able to ping without DF Bit set

WRT54G ver 6, MTU test fails when trying to connect to Xbox360 live
MTU test fails when trying to connect wirelessly to Xbox360 live. Firmware is current. I have a WRT54G version #6, Motorola Surfboard SB5101 Cable Modem, running AOL HighSpeed Broadband through Time Warner Cable. Changing the MTU setting does not work. I have tried several other suggestions found on these boards but nothing seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
hi twhale.... If you had already tried the settings i posted ... in such case you can do one thing .... access router setup page ... under Security ... uncheck block wan request ... click save settings .... Under Applications & Gaming tab ... click port range forwarding .... forward ports 88 & 3074 for the static Ip of the X-BOX ... click save settings . Click save settings ... check X-BOX live test ... if still shows the same error ... upgrade/reflash the firmware ...

You must have logged in thru a dedicated connection to any server through say VPN before deploying. This way the sdm uses the same login as that of already establised connection.
So 'sign of' all connections to any servers before deploying and redeploy your application. Here you will be prompted to supply the sdm password and deployment shall proceed. -

I updated my itunes the other day and now it won't open I get error message saying "application failed to start because MSVCR80 was not found" When I close that window I get message stating Itunes was not installed correctly Error 7 Windows error 126. My PC is a Acer and I'm running Windows Visa. I tried to uninstall Itunes and reinstall it and get same message. Can anyone help.
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

When trying to launch ITunes I get an error message saying that application fail to start because MSVCR80.dll file not found. Reinstalling app may fix problem.
I've just (finally) managed to fix this problem today. I checked the Apple Support forums, and it seems a lot of people are having the same problem.
I rang the Apple Support line, and the very helpful man (thanks Alan!) talked me through it stage by stage. If you go to the following page on the internet: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376 it takes you through the process. WARNING - it takes a little time!
Basically, the first thing you have to do is go to your Program Files and double click on your iTunes folder. There'll be a number of files with the suffix .dll - you need to move all the .dll files from that folder to your desktop - you can simply click and drag them on the desktop..
Next, uninstall iTunes - go to Control Panel / Add/Rempve Programs and when the list comes up remove iTunes. This will take a few minutes... Then reboot your computer.
Next, go back to Control Panel / Add Remove and Remove - IN THIS ORDER -
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot again!
Next, check in your Program Files that the iTunes folder is completely gone - if it has, great: if it hasn't, right-click on the folder and press Shift and Delete - it will say "Are you sure you want to completely remove the folder "iTunes"? Click on "Yes".
Reboot!
Then go to the iTunes download page and voila! It should download iTunes without any problems... well it did for me.... Good luck! -
I'm trying to reinstall the Palm software because synchronization has been failing for the past two months. It get to the point of synchronizing the calendar and fails with the message that there are too many events. Hence, nothing in the process after that synchronizes. I've tried reinstalling the Palm s/w to no avail. Now I'm trying to uninstall and reinstall the Palm s/w only to be greeted with another error message when the system restarts (as part of the installation process). The error is, "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click OK to terminate the application." When I choose OK, I get the error, "DeviceMonitor MFC Application has stopped working." Windows does not notify me of a solution. Any ideas/solutions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Gina

SCCM 2012 R2 C2 OSD deployments no logs when Applications fail
Hello,
Have Task Sequences with the Install Application step {as well as other steps for packages, etc.} that installs Applications when one of the Applications fail I usually see exactly what Application fails through the Console Status Message Query "All
Status Messages for a Specific Package at a Specific Site".
Troubleshooting: When I look in C:\Windows\CCM\logs. I see none of the logs: AppDiscovery.log(s), AppEnforce.log(s), AppIntentEval.log (s)?
Note: This only happens if there is an error in the Install Application step...normally the logs are there. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks! Here is a snippet of smsts.log There are 2 Install Applications steps the first one has 9 applications the 2nd has 1 application.
