Are Output of reports generated stored in tables & fields in SAP?

You are right that, If posting happens, obviously the data is going to be stored in tables.
I am not talking about posting. I want to know if the job is scheduled for report generation (where there is no posting involved) whether the result is stored in tables or not. After executing SM37, we will select the job and click Spool right. I am talking about the report result stored there.

We are in the process of upgrading our SAP from 4.6c to 6.0 and I am looking for a document or white paper that summarizes changes to Standard SAP Programs, Tables/Fields, Function Modules etc.. from what used to be in SAP 4.6c to what it is in SAP 6.0. I am not sure if such a comprehensive document exists or is posted in the forum.
Any help or information in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Do you want to know what custom changes were done to SAP standard objects in your system or do you want to know what changes SAP did from 4.6c to ECC6.0.
There is no white paper or documentation to find out custom changes made to SAP standard objects. but there were many tools in the market to find out and tell what changes were done to sap standard objects in your system.

New table / field in SAP MDM not being reflected in SAP EP

Hi,
I have added a lookup- flat table in MDM and added a field corresponding to this table in my main Products table.
I have maintained data in both the main table and the look up table thru Data manager
Problem:
I want to populate this field through the SAP EP. I am using std MDM iView Details template. When I check the drop down to select the table, I see only the ones which had come with the MDM std business content. The added tables/ fields are not visible on the portal to select :(.
Can you help me out Please? Are there some settings that need to be done?

As a mandatory requirement after completing the deployment process, the Web Application Server should be restarted for the changes made by the deployment to take effect and appear in the Portal.
Have you restarted Web Application Server after deployment?
Also check, User Mapping for the Connected MDM System
Search for the User (Portal User) which needs to be mapped to the appropriate MDM User.
It is quite interesting that you are getting all other tables in std i-view template except newly added.
It could be also because you have already there connection of EP with MDM before that table and new field exists in MDM.
And it is showing same existing table and fields, I mean not reflected now newly added table and field. I would suggest you to create the MDM connection with EP from scratch. Just give MDM System Name and ID, MDM Server, Repository, Language, Creating an Alias for the connected MDM System, User Mapping and connection Test for the Connected MDM System.
May be it result in reflecting newly added Table and field which is not visible in EP as of now. Just give it a try.

Where are output module presets physically stored?

I have a broken XP installation that is not fixable but the drive is accesible from my other Windows installation.
Before I broke XP I deactivated my CS3 and now I have it installed and activated in Windows 7.
Now I am really missing all my output module presets. I can import them, but then I should have exported them first, which is not an option.
The AppData folder is really full of stuff

Thanks for the reply.
I think you misunderstood me though. There was nothing wrong with the Adobe installation. It was my operating system that I broke. Sort of on purpose. I just assumed I could get my settings back the good old manual way instead of using the program. And I was right for the most part. Don't worry, I know what I am doing. I just didn't know the output module presets weren't stored in either the application folder or the AppData folder.
So what I need to know is where those presets are physically stored so I can get them back too.
Oh I hope it's not the registry. That's the one thing I cannot touch. But then again why would it be in the registry when everything else is stored in files and AE is portable to OSX anyway and they don't have a registry.

Trigger report program if Z table field is modified/created

Hi,
I have a requirement where i want to run the report program ONLY if a particular field ( Dispatch date ) is modified or updated of a 'Z' Table ( Custom Table ).
The report program would fetch data from the same 'Z' table only for those records which are modified/updated. This data is then transferred to an application server.
1. How should i trigger the report program for the above requirement.
2. If a background program is to be created, then what should be the trigerring criteria & where it should be defined.
3. Do i need to set any change pointers etc.
Pointers to the above requirement would be very helpful.

   i'm working on a similar query as that of ur's.
see the logic is as we proceed in ur case is DISPATCH DATE say are to be modified in the process of inserting 0r changing the contents of a ZTABLE.
so here the logic would be
loop at itab.
MODIFY ZTABLE FROM TABLE ITAB.
endloop.
This is the key reference in our logic .
now it is known that u have a ZTABLE with dispatch date
here the data element will be DATUM .
now in the ZTABLE go to DISPATCH DATE filed i.e its DATA ELEMET double click on data element DATUM .
now if u see here there will be a tick called as Checkbox on change document which is enabling the CDHDR and CDPOS.
*if its not checked get it checked in .
This is the source to the logic.
now what u need to do in ur logic part is
1. collect all the entries of the table.
(im not sure how many entries are there but try to get all the primary keys + one or two more fields so that the time is saved . this we do to check.
2. before the modify comes into affect see if u can store all the content of the table i.e step 1.
3.lets say we have modified the ZTABLE.
4.now collect all the entries i.e newly modified into new inttab with same logic as the basic primary key configurations + two fields .
5. let the two internal tables be compared and based on the comparision derive a new internal table as follows .

This only works if you are able to define the fields of the internal table in this order, so with the key fields first in the right order. Otherwise the AT END OF will not work.
6. now if u can reach upto here then we need not create a background program .
7. u are exactly right change pointers will have to come into picture .
8 .then comes the picture of moving this content to application server using datasets etc.
hope this helps u in building the logic .

Defining a table field as radiobutton

I have a client table with two fields defined as char 1. Now, when creating the screen for SM30, I want these two fields as radiobutton. In the layout, I have created them as radiobutton but now, I don't know how to group them. It understands there are two radiobutton groups, one for each table field. But what I want is to create a group for each table row, only one of the two fields should be marked.

Grouping facility is available in module pool.
go to the layout of the screen and select all the radio-buttons columns u want to group, right-click and Grouping -> Define..

Pending Invoice amount - Table field

Hello experts,
Is there a table field in SAP that indicates balance payment amount for an invoice?
(Pending amount = Invoice amount - Payment amount).
I know that we can calculate it but need to know if there is one field that indicates it. Would like to use SQ01 for reporting this!!

Storing oracle-reports generated pdf-report onto a blob

Hey ppl,
I have this requirement:
I basically generate a report from Jdev using a remote servlet call to oracle reports, which very neatly generates the pdf document for me and stores it locally. The problem is immediately storing this onto the DB as a blob once the report is generated. I know how to store the pdf as a blob onto the DB. I know how to make the call to oracle-reports and generate my pdf. What I don't know is to sequentially first generate the local pdf report and only once that has been generated proceed to store it onto my DB.
I want it to be done within the scope of a single request. As in, the entire process should be complete through one cycle. I don't want to keep a day end sort of procedure that inserts into the db at the end of the day.
As soon as the report has been requested by the user, I want the pdf file(which is generated by the reports) to also be stored onto the DB.
My problem (which i apologize has been repeated already 2wice above) is that I basically lose control once redirected through the servlet to the report call. There is no way i can instruct Jdev, from the reports side, that the pdf has been generated and now has to be stored onto the DB, as i have lost the session context by redirecting to a different servlet.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

its quite some time ago that I a looked Oracle Reports, however, I think that the event mechanism is quite complex to achieve
I want it to be done within the scope of a single request.
Which means that if Oracle Reports hangs, the user session follows.
As in, the entire process should be complete through one cycle.
Unfortunately you don't control how long reports run, which means that there is no sense in stopping the page lifecycle for this

Fair enough, but as far as I remember there is an eventing in Reports that would allow you to have the Oracle Reports Server triggering the upload
So I think, the architecture I would go for is:
- user requests report
- report generates PDF output
- reports uploads to DB
- reports_processing table holds user ID and reports ID plus flag to update when report is done
- If using JSF, you could use af:poll to check frequently for the report to be finished.

How to generate a report from stored procedure

I would like to generate a report from stored procedure.
I used to work on sql server. this can be done as easy as put a select statement at the end of stored procedure.
The resule can be displayed on the development IDE, like sql developer or consume by Java JDBC client.
is there equivalent way to do this in Oracle stored procedure?

When you execute it will return the result set and you will display directly on the FrontEnd.. Is my Understanding is correct Up to here.
See, In oracle you have call some custom stored procedures as you did in SQL Sever, but you have return the Results Sets, with help of Out put paramter, Either Cursors or Varrays..
or Else you can generate the Html reports based on your requirement, HTML can be used in the stored procedures of Oracle which will generate for your, you need to code it.
I could not able get the relevant link for your reference.

Can't generate SPREADSHEET output in Reports 10.1.2.0.2

We are using Reports 10.1.2.0.2. I want to generate in my (Not deployed in the AS) PC a simple tabular report but in spreadsheet format. I use this command line command in a batch file.

REP-0826: Invalid printer driver
'spreadsheet' specified by parameter
DESFORMAT.However, I can generate DESFORMAT=HTML, DESFORMAT=PDF output. The HTML and PDF files are created.
What is the problem here?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I even installed Excel 2007 but still gives the same error.

Regards, RobertoSorry Roberto, I have mistakenly used the 10G release 1 EXE. When I use my 10g R2 exe we can generate spreadsheet format. BUT, the spreadsheet is useless for complex reports. The excel sheet is not readable since lots of blank lines added and also lots of blank columns added. No images also there that is found in the PDF output. So, it's not WYSIWYG type output.
We are now trying to patch the 10g r2 to 10.1.2.3 and use the ENHANCEDSPREADSHEET format.

Junk characters are displayed in report output

Hi Gurus,
We are facing an issue while generating a report developed in Oracle 10g, while fetching the data in one column the report is displaying junk characters although while running the query on the database the value is coming correct for the same column. We are writing the report data on the AIX and with the help of WEBUTIL the reports gets transferred on the client machine which is having windows XP as operating system. Although we have many reports running on the same concepts but only in this particular report the issue is coming.
Our AS Version is 10.1.2.3.0
OS Version is AIX 5.3
Please provide some solution.

As per your suggestion , I had checked with both DB & AS both are same i.e.
In DB it displays the value AMERICAN and for AS it displays NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1
Please give some idea. Sometimes this report gives the right output and sometimes gives output having one column with junk character of CSV file.

CPU usage while generating text output from reports

while we attempt to generate the text (delimited) output from reports and when the query fetches more than 1500 rows, the cpu usage stays around 100% for long time paralysing the operation...
we faced the problem when we attempted to generate text output for around 10000 records.
any suggestions?

You can burst with eText and I have done it
successfully.
I don't believe pagebreaks are an option in eText and
I don't think it makes sense either since your
generating a flat-file and not a customer or internal
facing document. Does that make sense?
Also, if you would like you can use the
BIPublisherIDE, this code can be converted pretty
easily to handle jcp. There is a an oa framework
version I have developed but I haven't posted on my
blog yet. I plan on adding a bolt on for java
concurrent programs soon. it's really pretty simple
just haven't had the time.

I agree with your points on TXT files, but in our case,the reports are generated in TXT format for the customer so we are looking for the above mentioned features.
I have gone through BIP IDE and its a wonderful small utility which eases the task of BIP development.
As I mentioned in my original post that we are currently processing the generated TXT report using a custom util. in JAVA to get the desired output in TXT again.
I assume thats not what a JCP would do,so I am looking to explore that too.
As I understand the process for report generation is
1. Generate XSL from eTEXT template.
2. Get the XML data from DB using XDO
3. Apply XSL on XML to get the required template.
If we are looking to achieve some customizations then we need to have the XSL generated with those customizations.
In this case, where do we plug in the JCP to alter XSL or am I missing something.

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
          SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
When you post the log extract, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the text on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
