Array argument in function call from 3DAnnots to host

Hi,
with Acrobat I am trying this: host.my_func(Array) from within an Annots3D script.
my_func is a pdf document function.
This is what I get in my_func:
1) console.println (Array): Arr_Element_1,Arr_Element2
2) for..in, console.println (Array[i]):
[object ScriptProxy]
[object ScriptProxy]
Array[i] is undefined
(actually I am passing a 2-element array).
So, the only way to work on Array in document my_func is to stringify Array (Array.toString()) and recreate an array. This may be a feasible way with litteral arrays but not as praticable with objects as you can image.

Global access to objects is indeed part of the sandboxing restriction. What you're trying to do is not transfer an object reference between scripts as you would when web pages interact with one another, but between interpreters. Allowing that would be a huge problem, as you could inject methods as well as properties.

I'm developing a JSP application (powered by Tomcat 4.0.1 in JDK 1.3, in Eclipse 3.3). Among other stuff I have 3 classes interacting with an Oracle database, covering 3 use cases - renaming, adding and deleting an database object. The renaming class simply updates the database with a String variable it receives from the request object, whereas the other two classes perform some calculations with the request data and update the database accordingly.
When the adding or deleting classes are executed, by performing the appropriate actions through the web application, Tomcat throws the following:

...The renaming works fine though. I have checked mailing lists and forums as well as contacted the company's java support but everything I have tried out so far, from exchanging the xerces.jar files found in JDOM and Tomcat to rebuidling the project didn't help.
I just can't explain to myself why this error occurs and I don't see how some additional Java code in the other 2 classes could cause it?
I realize that the Tomcat and JDK versions I'm using are totally out of date, but that's company's current standard and I can't really change that.
Here's the source code. I moved parts of the business logic from Java to Oracle recently but I left the SQL statements that the Oracle stored procedures are executing if it helps someone.

After further googling I figured out what was causing the problem: in eclipse I was referring to external libraries located in eclipse/plugins directory, whereas Tomcat was referring to the same libraries (possibly older versions) in it's common/lib directory.

I am attempting to do a similar function, however everything is loaded, written, compiled and resolved correct, however, nothing is happening. No errors or anything. Would I have a permission issue or something?

Okay, being a oracle noob, I didn't know I needed to tell anything to get the java error messages out to the console
Having figured that out on my own, I minified my code to just run the one line of code:

Can anyone tell me why it would skip resolving a class? Especially after I use the -r flag to have loadjava resolve it upon loading.

Can you provide us the exact information about the implementation version and Ant-version of the cesession.jar file that you are using.
This could be observed by opening the jar file using winrar or winzip, then go to the MANIFEST.MF file present inside META-INF folder.
Once you will open the MANIFEST.MF file, please let us know the first seven lines present inside the same fle.

Execute Oracle Package Function call from FORTE

Has anyone EVER successfully execute an Oracle Package Function call from FORTE
via " sql execute procedure "?
Here's my question, I am able to execute a stored procedure but hasn't figured
out a way to execute a function which defined in a package. The syntax goes
like this: sql execute procedure <PackageName>.<FunctionName> ( input
input_parm, output output_parm). If anyone EVER successfully execute a
function, please let me know, thanks.

You'll need to provide a column alias for the function call:
select func(val) as alias from dual

Incompatible object argument for function call exception

I am hoping someone has seen this issue before.
Running CF 7.0.1.116466 with JRun 4.
I have a 3rd party search engine application running on a
separate server. I interface with the engine via their Java API. I
am able to use the search engine when executing using a home grown
Java application. It also worked with CF 6. However, when I try to
implement the same cold in CF, it fails with the exception attached
below. I am able to successfully create the objects. The error
occurs when the objects attempt to connect with the engine.
I have also attached the code that is causing the errors.
"seObj" creates an interface with the search engine. It is
constructed with the server address as a parameter. It does not
attempt to contact the engine when it is first constructed.
"dsObj" allows access to specific content in the engine. This
is where the connection to the engine is attempted and the error
occurs.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I need to write a function call within

Dynamically catch a function call from an object at runtime

Hi,
I have a bit of an interesting question.
Say I have a dynamic object named Foo. It may have a set of explicitly defined functions:
public function helloWorld():String
     return "hello world";
public function get name():String
     return "My Name";
etc.
I want to be able to create a further function
public function handleFunctionCall(functionCall:String, args:Array):*
     trace("Function: " + functionCall + " was called with the arguments:");
     for(var i:int=0; i<args.length; i++)
          trace(args[i]);
The purpose of this is so that I can declare the object Foo and then call any function and handle it accordingly at runtime.
e.g.

foo.bar();
foo.whathaveyou();
foo.whatever();
Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

I'd be interested to know more about what you are trying to achieve, but the code below should work:

For alternative approaches you may want to take a look at behavioural design patterns. The command or strategy pattern may suit your needs.

Applet function call from javascript

Hi,
I'm haveing a problem with accesing applet's functions from Javascript in Mozilla. IE works fine but in Mozilla I get the following error:
Error: document.applets[0] has no properties
The code used is: document.applets[0].test();
The applet has the following 2 tags defined, I don't know if they are necessary here but I'm doing the reverse too (applet functions call javascript).

RFC function call from VB Script

I have an RFC enabled function that I need to call from VBScript. I was working through this issue as a BAPI call but after research and RFC not initialized error messages over and over I am coming to think that the issue is not how I was doing it but what I was trying to do with different objects.
I think the issue is that I was trying to call a RFC function with BAPI methods, I didnt understand that there was I difference but now I do. I don't know how to initialize the RFC on the host system and unsure if I even have all of the components on the host system to make these function calls.
The goal here is to call a function that passes 3 paramters and modifies a user object in SAP.

Bapi Function call from Crystal reports 2008. import parameters syntax.

I have an issue with calling a function directly from Crystal reports (2008) in the R3 system.
(if this belongs in another thread , please add the link if moved !)
I try to get data through function "BAPI_CLASS_GET_CLASSIFICATIONS".
Till now all possible input parameters have no data-result.
I already read other threads stating that 'for example' the Language key needs to be provided in a single character. 'E' in stead of 'EN'.
I also already created a Z-wrap-function that fills out all input parameters 'hardcoded'. This works.
clearly there are som syntax changes in passing the values to R3 when called from Crystal Reports.
Can someone state which syntax has to be followed for numeric fields, for datefields etc. (so when i make these dynamical, I know which syntax should be the outcome of the formula)

I just debugged my Z-function, after adding all input parameters as in the standard BAPI function.
All parameters seems to be passed correctly except from the table parameters from
CLASS_OBJECTS
So all I_parameters are passed :

but the table parameters aren't coming through:

Duration of an Abap Function call from Java using Jco3

Hi guys!
I would like to use this discussion to get some refernces of the duration Timespan of an RFC call from Java to SAP. At the moment, i need at last about 200ms to call the Abap function. I'm just using one simple import and export parameter (so no deep structures). I think that the reason for my poor performance is, that the Java Tool and the SAP instance are not in the same network. So, i hope some of you have some data, how fast an RFC call from Java using Jco can be executed.

I think you have already got the answer to your question - the network set-up you have is probably the bottleneck. Whenever I've worked with Java <-> ABAP and they are in the same network, I've had no performance problems at all.
Does your RFC contain any complex logic or business processes? Are you able to try and call something that does nothing, say it just accepts an input string and returns it straight away as an export. Do you have any scope for testing with your Java tool on the same network as the SAP system?

Java functions call from C++ App

I'm new to Java, One of our client have generic APIs for there business logic, those are written in JAVA, now we want to use some of these APIs in C++ application. Can any one suggest/address me the better way to do this?

To call Java functions from C++ you need a VM running in your process, and JNI is the interface you need to use in the C++ code.
One of the interfaces in JNI lets you create a VM. You generally only want one VM, so if the application started out in Java, you have a VM already and you don't need to create one.
Note that JNI is really a C <-> Java interface, and usually any C++ code called from Java is C++ 'extern "C"' functions. Java won't know anything about C++ objects. And you use JNI to get C++ to understand Java objects.
