Array as param type when invoking an MBean

Hello everybody,
I need to transfer a file using a byte array. How can I do this?
I mean, the MBean has a method:
public boolean fileUpload(byte[] bytes, String filename);And I want to invoke this using:
boolean uploaded = (Boolean)(server.invoke(client, "fileUpload", params, sign));Where params is a {byte[]}, how do I fill sign[]?
Thank you!
Andrea

By far your best bet is to use an MBean proxy. Suppose your MBean interface looks like this:
public interface UploaderMBean {
    public boolean fileUpload(byte[] bytes, String fileName);
}Then, if you're on JDK 6, you could just do this:
UploaderMBean uploader = JMX.newMBeanProxy(server, objectName, UploaderMBean.class);
boolean uploaded = uploader.fileUpload(bytes, fileName);On JDK 5 you can use the class MBeanServerInvocationHandler to achieve the same thing with a little more work. (That solution will then work on JDK 6 too.)

  • UnmarshalException when invoking a mbean method with parameters

    Hi there,
    I'm working with two different applications. Each application is deployed on its own server into the same weblogic(8.1) domain.
    Each time one of these application tries to invoke a method on a mbean deployed by the other application, i've got this strange error:
    java.rmi.UnmarshalException: error unmarshalling arguments; nested exception is:
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.foo.bar.MyClass:
              This error could indicate that a component was deployed on a cluster member but not other members of that cluster. Make sure that any component deployed on a server that is part of a cluster is also deployed on all other members of that cluster

    Note that i didn't configure a cluster.
    com.foo.bar.MyClass is the class of a parameter of the invoked method. Both applications have com.foo.bar.MyClass in their classpath.
    When i invoke a method without parameter it works fine.
    I use:
    - weblogic 8.1
    - spring 2.0.3
    Does anyone have an idea of what could be wrong?
    thanks in advance.

    Hi again People,
    I'm replying to my own post in order to inform you that I have
    located the source of my NullPointerException. I started up OC4J
    using the following command line:
    java -Drmi.debug=true -Drmi.verbose=true -jar orion.jar
    This caused OC4J to display a stack trace (in the server window)
    showing what method was throwing the exception -- it was one of
    mine.
    So thanks anyway, and turn your attentions elsewhere.
    Cheers,
    Avi.

    Found the issue. There was a difference between the target service and the web service object that I was invoking. Even though I have changed the method signature and changed it back, the web service object that I was invoking needed to be recreated. This fixed the issue.

  • Invoking stored procedure that returns array(oracle object type) as output

    Hi,
    We have stored procedures which returns arrays(oracle type) as an output, can anyone shed some light on how to map those arrays using JPA annotations? I tried using jdbcTypeName but i was getting wrong type or argument error, your help is very much appreciated. Below is the code snippet.
    JPA Class:
    import java.io.Serializable;
    import java.sql.Array;
    import java.util.List;
    import javax.persistence.Entity;
    import javax.persistence.Id;
    import org.eclipse.persistence.annotations.Direction;
    import org.eclipse.persistence.annotations.NamedStoredProcedureQuery;
    import org.eclipse.persistence.annotations.StoredProcedureParameter;
    * The persistent class for the MessagePublish database table.
    @Entity
    @NamedStoredProcedureQuery(name="GetTeamMembersDetails",
         procedureName="team_emp_maintenance_pkg.get_user_team_roles",
         resultClass=TeamMembersDetails.class,
         returnsResultSet=true,
         parameters={
         @StoredProcedureParameter(queryParameter="userId",name="I_USER_ID",direction=Direction.IN,type=Long.class),
         @StoredProcedureParameter(queryParameter="employeeId",name="I_EMPLOYEEID",direction=Direction.IN,type=Long.class),
         @StoredProcedureParameter(queryParameter="TEAMMEMBERSDETAILSOT",name="O_TEAM_ROLES",direction=Direction.OUT,jdbcTypeName="OBJ_TEAM_ROLES"),
         @StoredProcedureParameter(queryParameter="debugMode",name="I_DEBUGMODE",direction=Direction.IN,type=Long.class)
    public class TeamMembersDetails implements Serializable {
         private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
    @Id
         private long userId;
         private List<TeamMembersDetailsOT> teamMembersDetailsOT;
         public void setTeamMembersDetailsOT(List<TeamMembersDetailsOT> teamMembersDetailsOT) {
              this.teamMembersDetailsOT = teamMembersDetailsOT;
         public List<TeamMembersDetailsOT> getTeamMembersDetailsOT() {
              return teamMembersDetailsOT;
    Procedure
    PROCEDURE get_user_team_roles (
    i_user_id IN ue_user.user_id%TYPE
    , o_team_roles OUT OBJ_TEAM_ROLES_ARRAY
    , i_debugmode IN NUMBER :=0)
    AS
    OBJ_TEAM_ROLES_ARRAY contains create or replace TYPE OBJ_TEAM_ROLES_ARRAY AS TABLE OF OBJ_TEAM_ROLES;
    TeamMembersDetailsOT contains the same attributes defined in the OBJ_TEAM_ROLES.

    A few things.
    You are not using a JDBC Array type in your procedure, you are using a PLSQL TABLE type. An Array type would be a VARRAY in Oracle. EclipseLink supports both VARRAY and TABLE types, but TABLE types are more complex as Oracle JDBC does not support them, they must be wrapped in a corresponding VARRAY type. I assume your OBJ_TEAM_ROLES is also not an OBJECT TYPE but a PLSQL RECORD type, this has the same issue.
    Your procedure does not return a result set, so "returnsResultSet=true" should be "returnsResultSet=false".
    In general I would recommend you change your stored procedure to just return a select from a table using an OUT CURSOR, that is the easiest way to return data from an Oracle stored procedure.
    If you must use the PLSQL types, then you will need to create wrapper VARRAY and OBJECT TYPEs. In EclipseLink you must use a PLSQLStoredProcedureCall to access these using the code API, there is not annotation support. Or you could create your own wrapper stored procedure that converts the PLSQL types to OBJECT TYPEs, and call the wrapper stored procedure.
    To map to Oracle VARRAY and OBJECT TYPEs the JDBC Array and Struct types are used, these are supported using EclipseLink ObjectRelationalDataTypeDescriptor and mappings. These must be defined through the code API, as there is currently no annotation support.
    I could not find any good examples or doc on this, your best source of example is the EclipseLink test cases in SVN,

    Can someone tell what am I doing wrong. As it looks like I have to pass all the parameters for the method that is published but what if some are missing basically I want to keep all the parameters optional. How can I make the service to return the same what is passed when invoked. Any help is appreciated. I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.

    To make the service return "whatever is passed", you have to take a step back and realize that there is a little understanding of XML Schema required.
    When using a complexType, which is defined as a sequence, then you are implying an ordered sequence of elements. Default value for the 'minOccurs' attribute is 1. It's also important to understand that there is a difference between minOccurs=0 and nillable="true".
    nillable="true" just means that the name element can carry a null value. If you want the name element to be optional, then you must use the minOccurs=0 and keep the maxOccurs to it's default value of 1. Using an array is just a bad work around. This is for deserialization (XML to JAVA).
    The second part of you problem is on the serialization (or JAVA to XML). When you have a JAVA Bean, there is no way to make the difference between a member's value being null or not set, so it's impossible to decide if you need to send back a nul (xsi:nil="true"), an empty element <ns1:name/> or nothing.
    That said, if you do want to go the XML route, you can use the dataBinding="false" flag in the different WSA command. Instead of converting XML into JAVA, you will have SOAPElement parameters, where you can do all you want (see WS user's guide [1] for details - chapter 16). Note that you have to make sure that the WSDL (your contract) reflect what you are doing on the wire (format of your messages), so that you do not geopardize your interoperability with other toolkit.
    Note that this only applies to literal message formats (use attribute in WSDL), which is your case.
    Hope this helps,
    Eric

  • Need suggestion for variable size array of primitive type.

    Hi all,
    I am working on a problem in which I need to keep an array of primitive (type int) sorted. Also I insert new elements while keeping it sorted, and at times I merge two similar arrays with unique elements.
    I would welcome suggestions on the implementation aspects as to which type/class to use. My primary consideration is performance. Here are my observations:
    1. type int
    Efficient operation, but arrays are fixed size so it makes clumsy code and overhead when the array is expanded or merged with another.
    Methods in class Arrays can be used, incl. binary search and sort.
    2. Vector, ArrayList, List, LinkedList
    Accept objects only. I can use Integer instead of int, but it will involve overhead, and I'll need to write my own sort and search routines (already done).
    For now, I choose option 2 using Vectors. Is there a better choice, or are there other options, given the conditions and consideration enumerated at the beginning?
    Appreciate any input or comments.

            Random rand = new Random(seed);
            for(int i = 0; i < n; i++)
                list.add(new Integer(rand.nextInt()));
            for(int i = 0; i < n/2; i++)
                list.remove(rand.nextInt(list.size()));
            long end = System.currentTimeMillis();
            System.out.println("objectsList -> "+(end-start)+" ms.");
        static void testPrimitiveList(IntArrayList list, int n, long seed) {
            long start = System.currentTimeMillis();
            Random rand = new Random(seed);
            for(int i = 0; i < n; i++)
                list.add(rand.nextInt());
            for(int i = 0; i < n/2; i++)
                list.remove(rand.nextInt(list.size()));
            long end = System.currentTimeMillis();
            System.out.println("primitiveList -> "+(end-start)+" ms.");
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            long seed = System.currentTimeMillis();
            int numTests = 100000;
            testObjectsList(new ArrayList<Integer>(), numTests, seed);
            testPrimitiveList(new IntArrayList(), numTests, seed);
    }In the test above, Java's ArrayList is about 5 times faster. But when commenting out the remove(...) methods, the primitive 3rd party IntArrayList is about 4 to 5 times faster.
    Give it a spin.
    Again: just try to do it with the standard classes: if performance lacks, look at something else.

  • Java exception when invoking web service

    I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.04 to deploy a PL/SQL function as a web service to 10gIAS. I can deploy the service, but when invoking it from the endpoint my SOAP output looks like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    - <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
    - <SOAP-ENV:Body>
    - <SOAP-ENV:Fault>
    <faultcode>SOAP-ENV:Server.Exception:</faultcode>
    <faultstring>java.lang.NullPointerException</faultstring>
    <faultactor>/GetAmountContextRoot/MyWebService1</faultactor>
    </SOAP-ENV:Fault>
    </SOAP-ENV:Body>
    </SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
    Deploying what is essentially the same web service to the OC4J instance that comes with JDeveloper, my SOAP returns the expected value:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <env:Envelope xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:ns0="http://devl29ieda/MyWebService2.wsdl/types/"><env:Body><ns0:returnAmountResponseElement><ns0:result>305249</ns0:result></ns0:returnAmountResponseElement></env:Body></env:Envelope>
    I believe the problem is within the Java code created by the Web Service Wizard, but I do not know where.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Steven

    Hi Steven,
    You may want to look at the log on the server side to see if you have any hint that may help you track down where the NPE is comming from.
    As you are using PL/SQL function, the other think you want to check is that the datasource information are properly defined in both environment.
    Hope it helps,

  • Array Of Primitive Type (kodo3.4)

    <extension vendor-name="kodo" key="jdbc-field-map-name" value="blob">

    </extension>
    As I use MySQL and not to have an exception, I have added:
    kodo.jdbc.DBDictionary: DriverDeserializesBlobs=false
    But when I tried to refresh using kodo.jdbc.meta.MappingTool, I get:

  • Sort Second Element in Array of Strict Type Def Clusters

    I need to sort the an array of strict type def clusters by the second or third element in the cluster.  In the past I have used 1-D array sort and sorted by the first element of the cluster.  When I need to sort by the second, third, or fourth element of the cluster I just break down the cluster and rebuild it placing the desired sort element in the first position of the new cluster.  This works for simple tasks and clusters, but as the cluster gets more complicated this becomes a pain to do this.  There must be a cleaner way to sort by other elements within the original array of strict type def clusters.  Has anyone succeeded in doing this a different way?

    Hello,
    Here's the way I would do it...just create a new cluster array, where each cluster contains two elements...the unbundled item you want to sort by, and the cluster itself.  Then sort the new cluster array, then unbundle the sorted cluster array to get the original clusters (now sorted).  Here is a screenshot:
    There may be a better way, but this is the first thing I thought of.

  • Problems with Custom Data Types when converting from TS 1.0 to 3.0.

    I am currently involved in the process of converting a test environment from TestStand 1.0, LabVIEW 5.1, and Windows NT to TestStand 3.0, LabVIEW 7.0, and Windows XP. We use a custom Operator Interface developed in LV. Based on the entered Model and Serial number, the appropriate Test Sequence is called. We also use a custom Process Model. The steps in the Test Sequence are either LV code modules or DLLs created in C++. We have LV SubVIs and C++ API functions that allow the developers of the test steps to add data to various Custom Data Types. For example, a developer may set up a test to add a note (Step.Result.Notes[x].String) when the test fails. Step.Result.Notes is a container for an array of strings. The attempt to set a note first attempts to use SetDimensions to redimension the array, then SetValString to set the value. These notes are added to the report. On the old system, everything worked fine. A note could be added to any result. On the new system, if a note is added to say the 5th result, but results 1-4 do not have a note, the test sequence ends and the Operator Interface returns to waiting for data entry (as if no test ever happened). No report is generated. The LabVIEW libraries have been modified to solve this problem by calling SetDimensions to incrementally increase the array size by one, and populating the unused TestStand array elements with an empty array of LabVIEW strings using the SetValString call . In other words, based on the previous example, if the user wants to set a note for the 5th result, the notes for results 1-4 must first be sent an empty array of strings. The report will only display the note for Result 5 (as desired). In addition to this being cumbersome, attempting to implement the same workaround in the C++ API has been unsuccessful because even though the note arrays for unwanted notes (1-4) is initialized with nothing, it is still displayed as a note (empty) on the report. If anybody knows what is wrong and what the solution is, it will be appreciated.

    Aaron,
    Thanks for your reply. I will attempt to clarify. I am working with a single step. The step calls a DLL. The DLL performs many 'checks' on the UUT (e.g. Model Number Check, Serial Number Check, Calibration Constants Check, etc.). Under the Type Palette - MyTypes.ini, we have a Step Type called TEST_DLL with a container in it called Results. In the Results container are a number of things, but I will only list the important ones:
    Notes (Array of Type 'Notes'; Type 'Notes' is a Custom Data Type (container, Type Definition)containing an array of strings called 'String')
    -Notes are generally set when on of the checks fails, otherwise no Note is set for the check.
    Val (Array of Type 'Val'; Type 'Val' is Custom Data Type (container, Type Definition) containing a Boolean called 'Boolean')
    -Val indicates whether the check passed of failed
    Pseudocode example:
    //Model Number Check
    check# = 0;
    resultBOOL = ModelNumberCheck();
    SetDimensions("Step.Result.Val", 0, "[0]", check#);
    SetValBoolean("Step.Result.Val[check#].Boolean", 0, resultBOOL);
    if(resultBOOL == FAIL)
    Note# = 0;
    SetDimensions("Step.Result.Notes", 0, "[0]", check#);
    SetDimensions(Step.Result.Notes[check#].String, 0, "[0]", Note#);
    SetValString("Step.Result.Notes[check#].String[Note#]", 0, "Model Number Check failed");
    Note# = 1;
    SetDimensions(Step.Result.Notes[check#].String, 0, "[0]", Note#);
    SetValString("Step.Result.Notes[check#].String[Note#]", 0, "Model Number = 1234");
    //Serial Number Check
    check# = 1;
    resultBOOL = SerialNumberCheck();
    SetDimensions("Step.Result.Val", 0, "[0]", check#);
    SetValBoolean("Step.Result.Val[check#].Boolean", 0, resultBOOL);
    if(resultBOOL == FAIL)
    Note# = 0;
    SetDimensions("Step.Result.Notes", 0, "[0]", check#);
    SetDimensions(Step.Result.Notes[check#].String, 0, "[0]", Note#);
    SetValString("Step.Result.Notes[check#].String[Note#]", 0, "Serial Number does not match expected");
    More Checks
    As you can see above, the "Step.Result.Val" array is redimensioned for every check. The "Step.Result.Notes" array is only redimensioned when a note needs to be added for a failing check. If the entire step executes and no check adds a note, the sequence is fine. If every check fails and therefore every check adds a note, the sequence is fine. However, if there are any gaps (e.g. check 0 adds a note, check 1 does not add a note, and check 2 tries to add a note), the sequence will stop. If I add blank notes for every check that would otherwise not have a note, the sequence completes, but the report shows the blank note.
    Also, the exact code that is causing these problems runs fine on our old systems (TestStand 1.0). I hope that I clarified the problem and thanks again for the help.

  • Java.sql.SQLException: Invalid column type when extending VO

    Hi,
    I'm getting java.sql.SQLException: Invalid column type when I'm extending a VO. The VO is the base query for a LOV. I'm not adding any columns, I'm just changing the from and the where. I'm not touching any java code.
    When I click on the LOV torch for the first time it is working fine. But whenever I click on the GO button on the LOV Region it gives an error.

    I had to set Binding Style to Oracle Positional on the View Object declaration (Button of page).
    Saw this somewhere when I searched for the error but it didn't connect...
    Anyways, problem solved.

  • GPEngineException: Error filling role when invoking GP from within webdynpr

    Hi
    I am trying to invoke a guided procedure process (the example Time-Off-process) from within a webdynpro-application. For this, I used the code given here: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/43/fcdf77fc6510b3e10000000a11466f/frameset.htm. The process can be invoked and starts running if I configure the roles in the design time environment such that the role type is set to "Initiator". However, if I change the role type to "Instantiation defined", I get the following error:
    "Error filling role role.overseer of role type 3 during instantiation".
    The stack trace shows that a GPEngineException has been thron:
    com.sap.caf.eu.gp.exception.api.GPEngineException: Error filling role role.overseer of role type 3 during instantiation
         at com.sap.caf.eu.gp.process.rt.impl.GPRuntimeManager.checkRoleList(GPRuntimeManager.java:307)
         at com.sap.caf.eu.gp.process.rt.impl.GPRuntimeManager.startProcess(GPRuntimeManager.java:125)
    In my code, I assign roles to users exactly as described in the above mentioned document. Here's the code snippet:
         //Assign users to each role:
         IGPRuntimeManager rtm = GPProcessFactory.getRuntimeManager();
         IGPProcessRoleInstanceList roles =
         rtm.createProcessRoleInstanceList();
         int rolenum = process.getRoleInfoCount();
         for (int i = 0; i < rolenum; i++) {
              String roleName = process.getRoleInfo(i).getRoleName();
              //create a new role instance by specifying the role's unique name
              IGPProcessRoleInstance roleInstance =
              roles.createProcessRoleInstance(roleName);
              //add the new role to the assignment list
              roles.addProcessRoleInstance(roleInstance);
    What could be the problem here? I have searched all over the forum, but didn't find any hint. It might as well be that the error doesn't mean anything. I got a similar problem earlier which was solved by activating the process in the GP-Designtime. It would be great if anybody had an idea as to what I could do here. Anything could be a helpful suggestion!
    Thanks very much!
    Best regards
    Bettina Hepp

    This error is thrown if the role configuration in the guided procedure design time doesn't correspond to the role assignment during process instantiation:
    1. If role should be assigned at process instantiation, tick "overwritable at runtime", set role to "Initiation defined" and do assign a user to the role when you invoke the process.
    2. If role should be the process initiator, set role to "Initiator". In this case it is not possible to assign a user to this role when invoking the process.
    3. There is a third role type: "Runtime defined", haven't tried that so far.

  • CFC Issue when invoking a method

    Hello Community:
    I am getting the following error message when invoking my CFC:
    "If the component name is specified as a type of this argument, its possible that a definition file for the component cannot be found or is not accessible."
    This is the code where I call the method:
    <cfinvoke component="cfc.cartSelection" method="#meth#">
                    <cfinvokeargument name="inum" value="#ihdnum#">
                    <cfinvokeargument name="qty" value="#qty#">
                </cfinvoke>
    Any thoughts are deeply appreciated!
    Ysais.

    Hi, You specified this:
    cfc.cartSelection
    check to make sure that you have a cfc folder and cartSelection.cfc as the CFC inside the CFC Folder.
    I would suggest you 1 way. if you are using application.cfc or application.cfm:
    try as:
    <cfset request.cfcPath = cfc>
    if you cfc is in admin path and application.cfm file is outside the admin root
    you can fetch it as:
    <cfset request.cfcPath =admin.cfc>
    Try it and let me know how it goes.
    Also your method name is dynamic, make sure the method name you are calling exist or not.
