As9i R2 Oracle HTTP Server at Port 80

I installed the Application Server 9i R2 , but would like to make the Port 80 to be the Standard Port of the Application Server
already it is Port 7777 or 7778 as Standard !
what can i do ??
thanx :)

You can do it with Oracle Enterprise Manager Web. Point your web browser to
http://<application server>:1810
Login with username "ias_admin" and password that was set during installation.
Then you should select your Oracle Application Server instance under "Standalone Instances".
You will get "System Components" list, just click on "HTTP Server".
On next page, select Server Properties under "Administration".
If you are using web cache, you should change only listening port to 80, and if you don't change also default port.

  • Difference between HTTP Server port and HTTP Server listen port

    Hi,
What's the difference between the following?
Oracle HTTP Server port = 7780
Oracle HTTP Server listen port = 7781
They are the ports used in my 9ias 9.0.3 instance.
    Please advise.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
The server port, 7780, is port where HTTP server response and listen ports are other ports tha HTTP Server can listen. In IAS, the default configuration, the server port is response for Web Cache and Web Cache connect with HTTP Server in listen port.

  • Oracle Http server 11g, change ports with command-line tool

I have installed the WLS11g webtier's Oracle Http server 11g. I installed the OH 11g only.
The OH is runing fine with ports: non-ssl 7779 and ssl 4444
I want to change the ssl port to 443 such that we can have the url without showing the port as https://hostname.domain/
I have looked up the documnet http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/core.1111/e10105/ports.htm#CIHJIFHB for "managing port".
it states "You can change the port numbers for some Oracle Fusion Middleware components, using Fusion Middleware Control, Oracle WebLogic Server Administration Console, or *the command line*."
Because I only installed the OH, I have no the Fusion Middleware control , admin console available for making the port change. And I cannot find out how to the command line tool to make the change.
I followed the steps in section 5.3.2.1 Enabling Oracle HTTP Server to Run as Root for Ports Set to Less Than 1024 (UNIX Only) http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/core.1111/e10105/ports.htm#CIHJEEJH
And I did edit ssl.conf for port change to 443 ---- this is not documented in the document. I think because Oracle wants you to use the console to make the change.
OH is not working after I made the change.
Does anyone know how to use the commend line tool for making the port changes for OH11g?
    Thanks

    Hi,
if u want to achieve it using JMX then u can try :
    http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=613
Using Command Line Option WLST you can do it in ONLINE Mode...like:
Step1). Please run the ". ./setWLSEnv.sh" script to set the CLASSPATH & PATH in the shell prompt.
<b><font color=red>NOTE:</font></b> Run the “setWLSEnv.sh” by adding two DOTs separated by a single space …..before the actual script like following : (use ‘cd’ command to move inside the <BEA_HOME>/wlserver_10.3/server/bin) then run the following command….
    *. ./setWLSEnv.sh*
Note: the first DOT represents that set the Environment in the current Shell, AND the second ./ represents execute the script from the current directory.
Step2). Now in the same Shell Prompt please run the WLST Utility like following:
    <b><font color=maroon>
    java weblogic.WLST
    wls:/offline> connect()
Please enter your username [weblogic] : weblogic
Please enter your password [weblogic] : weblogic
Please enter your server URL [t3://localhost:7001] : t3://localhost:7001
Connecting to t3://localhost:7001 with userid weblogic ...
    edit()
    startEdit()
    cd ('Servers/AdminServer')
    cmo.setListenPort(9999)
    save()
    activate()
    </font></b>
Now you NEED NOT to restart your Server to reflact these Changes....
The Above JMX Code is also able to do it in Runtime only on the Fly.
    Thanks

  • Oracle HTTP Server (OHS)  Installation Problem on Win 2003 Server SP2

    Hi,

Once I was somehow able to install OHS on my 64 bit Windows 2008 Server, but again never:((

A few guesses what could be wrong.
    - Under which user are you installing, does this user have all the rights to create and start stuff.
    - Have you first installed a weblogic server (this should be installed) and did associate any components with the weblogic domain?
I usually do not associate anything with my weblogic domain and configure the httpd.conf file for the Apache server by hand instead of using the enterprise manager.
Once the WebLogic server is installed i follow the following steps
    Installation WebTier
    Run setup.exe
Select Install Software - Do Not Configure.
    Click Next.
    Prerequisite Checks --> Next.
    Accept the default installation directory.
    Click Next.
Uncheck i wish to... click Next (in the pop-up Yes)
    Click Install.
Click when the installation it finished and click Finish
    Configuration WebTier
    Run the file <WebTier-Home>/bin/config.bat.
    Click Next
Uncheck Associate Selected Components with WebLogic Domain and click Next
Accept the defaults and click Next
Enter the parameters for the WebCache
    Web Cache Administrator Password: password
    Confirm Password: password
    Click Next.
Select Auto Port Configuration and click Next.
Uncheck I wish to... and click Next. (pop-up Yes)
    Click Configure
    Click Next and Click Finish
When i follow the above steps an instance of the webtier is running.

  • How to call webservice through Oracle HTTP Server

I have cluster of three Managed Servers. They are behind a Oracle HTTP Server. I deployed a web service to the cluster. When calling web service, I got the error. The error is that the client of web service can not directly access the Managed Servers.
The error tell that it can not access http://webapp01:7003/webservice/HelloWorld?WSDL
Where webapp01 is the host name of a managed server.
Is there a way that web service return the result to HTTP Server and HTTP Server return it to web service client.

    1. Before you invoke the WebServices from client program, I guess you may have already generated the webservices client jar for the WSDL that is deployed using sun jdk "wsimport" command or bea's clientgen ant task. At this time, what is the wsdl url you gave. In the generated client jar file you should see .JAVA files also. Check the Service related .java file and check the WSDL URL in that file. If it is using weblogic servers managed server host and port, then the problem you see is obvious.
    2. To fix this, you re-generate the webservices client jar file again this time giving the http server host and port instead of weblogic host and port. I am hoping you already modified httpd.conf file to accept the webservice url pattern. Check the .JAVA file generated for service to see the WSDL URL that is having inside.
    3. Another approach is on your client side, before you invoke any operation on WebService, you will be first getting Service object, then Port object and invoke methods on Port object. When you get Service Object, you can pass the WSDL URL as one parameter and ServiceName (QName) as second parameter. Most of time we use default constructor without any parameters to get Service object. But you can use other constructor and pass 2 parameters. The WSDL URL will have HttpServers host and port, and rest of the url for wsdl will be the same.
In our env, we have similar requirment. SOAP BPEL Process WebServices are deployed on WLS 10.3.1 on a Cluster with 2 ManagedServers. We have Apache Proxy in front of this Cluster. All our WSDL requests goes to Apache host and port + wsdl url. This inturn goes to one of the managed servers at a time in round-robin. This is working. In httpd.conf we gave "MatchExpression / " so that any request from apache will go to cluster.

On the OHS side I have all the certificates needed so SSL is working properly. The weblogic environment is currently working fine with other webgates, but those are apache and we are trying to switch to OHS.
Can OHS use mod_proxy to connect to weblogic or do I need to use mod_wl_ohs?
Does anyone see anything wrong in my ssl.conf file in regards to the proxy section.
    Thanks in advance.

    In summary:
You need to create a new wallet with CSR (certificate signing req)
Send this to your certificate authority and get the signed server certificate.
Now import the signed server cert and the trusted root cert in to the wallet that you created newly.
Modify ssl.conf to point to the new wallet location.
To create wallet refer to : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E25054_01/core.1111/e10105/wallets.htm#CHDGIJDC
    Further reference: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E25054_01/core.1111/e10105/sslconfig.htm#CBDGIJDF
Dont mind if this doc is 500 pages ;)

  • Can you run Embedded PL/SQL Gateway and Oracle HTTP Server at the same time

    Hi,
I know this will sound a bit odd but their is a business case for asking this. Can you run APEX via the Embedded PL/SQL Gateway and the Oracle HTTP Server at the same time? Would their be any security/stability/etc issues I'd need to worry about? I know that I'll need to run them on different ports.
    Thank you,
    Martin Giffy D'Souza
    [http://apex-smb.blogspot.com/]

I think I've done this in the past. Theres no technical reason why you can't do this as far as I know.
I can't remember if I used different ports or same port.

  • Slow performance with oracle http server connecting weblogic

I have a performance issue while using Oracle HTTP server as a proxy with weblogic server. It takes 10-15 seconds to pass the requests.
I also received the error related to SSL in my error logs even though i havent configured the SSL.
please find the error received in the OHS error logs
nzos handshake error, nzos_Handshake returned 28862
NZ Library Error: SSL IO error [Hint: the client stop the connection unexpectedly]
And please find a request information from the access log files.

it is visible that the while it is doing "general list trying to connect to" it takes a long time
    Any pointers are highly appreciated.

    Shannon,
The OHS + Weblogic installation, just means you will have an admin server, with Enterprise Manager that can manage your OHS instances. That being said:
1 - You don't have to extend any domain, since the only thing OHS will need is an Admin Server with Enterprise Manager.
2 - I (myself, I don't speak for Oracle here) have a personal preference of having stand alone OHS. If you don't know how to work with httpd.conf and mod_wl.conf, I would suggest installing a separate domain only for it, that way you can keep the weblogic turned off, and turn it on only when you need to edit any configuration.
    Thanks

  • APEX and Oracle HTTP server

    Scenario
We are considering using APEX with Oracle 10g. However, we don't have Oracle application server. At the same time we do not want to use the Oracle HTTP server(OHS) on the database server. The propsed application intend to use by approx. 5000 users
    Questions
As APEX requires just OHS and mod_plsql plugin,
    1. Can we install just Oracle HTTP server and mod_plsql on standalone server? Which CD need to be used?
    2. Can OHS can be licensed separately as Oracle Internet application server(Enterprise Edition) based on processor licensing is expensive and not affordable. However, there are other options like Standard Edition and Standard Edition One as well but do not require any other options except OHS and mod_plsql plugin.Hence, what is the cost effective option to have OHS and mod_plsql as a middle tier component to deploy APEX applications
    Thanks in advance

    All,
I'm by no means a security expert, but I don't think this is a best practice. I think the best practice is to use two HTTP servers: one in the DMZ and one on the DB server. The one in the DMZ can be a standard Apache install - it acts as a proxy server and does not need mod_plsql. The second should be OHS. This configuration allows you to block ports that are usually used to communicate with the DB from the server in the DMZ.
Did I get that right or am I way off?

  • New Oracle HTTP server install unable to host remote HTMLDB.

    Hi all.
I installed the Oracle HTTP Server from the Oracle 10G Release 1 companion CD on a Mac Powerbook running the Tiger OS. I have a CentOS Linux server on my network with Oracle 10G R2 database running that I've installed HTMLDB 2.0 on. I can not seem to get the HTTP server to serve up a front end to my HTMLDB. I can connect and log into the Oracle Database from the MAC using SQLPlus using the HTMLDB_PUBLIC_USER account and password.
    Here is my dads.conf file:
    Alias /i/ "/oracle/product/10.1.0/db_1/Apache/Apache/images/"

  • Oracle HTTP Server and Node Manager

    Hi,
I installed Oracle HTTP Server with Node Manager. I set "CrashRecoveryEnabled=true" in the nodemanager.properties. It works fine when I reboot the machine, but when I kill the root process (kill -9), the new process can not be started as the previous process does not have enough time to die and still uses the ports. I tried to run "nmGenBootStartupProps" in wlst, or set the
    RestartMax=2
    RestartDelaySeconds=5
variables in "[domain_name]/servers/[server_name]/data/nodemanager/startup.properties" - no success.
Any ideas, how to set the number of retries and the delay between restarts?

  • Oracle HTTP Server and mod_plsql

    Hi there,
I have a problem using HTML DB on a small network. LAN consists of two computers with Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 1. Server has two NIC. One connected to the local internet provider (PPPoE) with TCP/IP set to "Obtain an IP address automatically" and second network adapter (for the LAN) with TCP/IP address 192.168.0.2. Second computer has NIC with IP 192.168.0.3. The server is set with HTML DB 2.0. There is NO ANY problem if I work on it as stand alone computer - second network adapter disable!
The problem arises if I connect the second computer and then start HTML DB by http://localhost:7777/…"503 the service is temporary unavailable", emagent is down, DBconsole service is not active anymore, etc. Apache or Oracle HTTP Server is up.
I have found, after several days of troubleshooting, that the problem might be in httpd.config file. If somebody have experience in similar networks or Oracle HTTP Server settings please, give me advice or send httpd.conf file as an example.
    Please help me!
    Konstantin

    Hi,
If I disable the network adapters and restart the computer, then connect to the HTML DB or my application, everything is OK. Then enable connection and I can work from both computers!

The dad.conf is empty because I am using marvel.conf. I just checked the rules to build such file. Listener uses as host name - computer name (in my case koncomp), but in all config files Oracle HTTP Server uses name localhost or 127.0.0.1. That is the reason for SYSMAN to make too separate folders in Oracle home named LOCALHOST_instancename and hostname_instanceename.

  • Down Time for  Installing APEX 4.2.1 and oracle HTTP server?

    Hi, all:
I plan to install APEX 4.2.1 and oracle HTTP server on 10.2.0.4 database.
Is there any down time required during installation?
I mean during installation, do I need to block users from accessing the database?
Can they do their normal data entry / inquiry?
    thanks,
    John
ps. There will be server backup before installation.

    Hi,
    Documentation says
    >
    3.1 Recommended Pre-installation Tasks
Before installing Oracle Application Express, Oracle recommends that you complete the following steps:
Review and satisfy all Oracle Application Express installation requirements. See "Oracle Application Express Installation Requirements".
Shut down with normal or immediate priority the Oracle Database instances where you plan to install Oracle Application Express. On Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC) systems, shut down all instances on each node.
An alternative to shutting down the database is to prevent all users from accessing Oracle Application Express when upgrading your installation from a previous release of Oracle Application Express. Oracle only recommends this option in high availability production environments where planned outages are not available. For all other scenarios, the database should be shut down.
To disable access to Oracle Application Express when the existing installation is using the Application Express Listener, shut down the appropriate application server where the Application Express listener is deployed.
To disable user access to Oracle Application Express when the existing installation is using the Oracle HTTP Server with mod_plsql, you should either shut down the Web server or disable the Application Express Database Access Descriptor of the Web server.
For an existing installation using the embedded PL/SQL gateway, you should disable the Oracle XML DB Protocol Server by setting the HTTP port to 0. This can be accomplished by starting SQL*Plus, connecting as SYS to the database where Oracle Application Express is installed, and running:
    EXEC DBMS_XDB.SETHTTPPORT(0);
Once you have prevented access from Oracle Application Express users, you should log into SQL*Plus as SYS, connecting to the database where Oracle Application Express is installed, and query V$SESSION to ensure there are no long running sessions which would interfere with the upgrade process.
Back up the Oracle Database installation.
Oracle recommends that you create a backup of the current Oracle Database installation before you install Oracle Application Express. You can use Oracle Database Recovery Manager, which is included in the Oracle Database installation, to perform the backup.
    See Also:
Oracle Database Backup and Recovery User's Guide
Start the Oracle Database instance that contains the target database.
After backing up the system, you must start the Oracle instance that contains the target Oracle database. Do not start other processes such as a Web Listener. However, if you are performing a remote installation, make sure the database listener for the remote database has started.
