Ask-commit

I want to override the message which appears when a form is closed using close button (default form button) and if there is some change in field i want to perform some functions those should take place when required to be saved . how can i make those checks before commiting in this case as its system generated message

More over if I just discard changes I really don't want to clear form, I want to revert changes back to database values and move on. If I just leave commit phase, I end up to having uncommited changes waiting and question popping up when next time navigating to another record.
Requerying isn't really option too, because query takes much time to process.

  • Automatic commit/rollback when debugging

    Hi,
    A colleague of mine who I asked to use SQL Developer instead of TOAD for debugging, was very surprised to found his debug session to have committed at the end. TOAD doesn't. He lost a lot of time undoing the unintended changes.
    He made me remember I went to the same thing when I first used sqldev.
    Instead of automatically assuming you want to commit or rollback, this really should be asked on successful completion. Or set a preference: ask, commit, or rollback.
    Anyone who agrees, please vote on the added feature request: http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=42626:39:1493919074214847::NO::P39_ID:28041
    Thanks,
    K.

    It's not really a bug, but a nasty feature.
    You can only vote on the mentioned request to add weight for future implementation.
    Until then you can put a breakpoint before completion, and when halted there, stop execution with the red stop button.
    Have fun,
    K.

  • New commer: Saying hi and asking for some insight...

    Hi all.
    Firts some background. I made the switch to linux permenant about a year ago and have never looked back. I have used mainly Gnome throughout that year and then KDE. I've also tried XFCE. Hop around from distro to distro and although all have their pros and cons, their special way of doing things I can't shake the feeling that each distro I've tried has held my hand every step of the way.
    In comes a review I read about Arch Linux. Then I thought, what better way to learn linux (seriuosly) than to follow the "Arch way".
    Now although I have rather decent hardware specs, I want to squeeze as much power and speed from my system. Therefore I thought about setting up a lighter WM. Along the lines of Openbox, LXDE etc. From the artwork/screenshots section in the forum I've seen some amazing setups, things of beauty.
    So what I would like is some insight as to what would be the best setup. Up util now I've always had my hand held by either Gnome or KDE, but with Openbox for example the options are somewhat overwhelmimg. Best filemanager, best panel, best system tray etc.
    This newcommer would like to hear from you on this subject.
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers,
    P.

    A common misconception among many newcomers (no offense intended) is the idea that there is a universal "best" solution for their computing. The truth is that it comes down to your level of experience and what you use your computer for most. I think I or others could better assist you if you gave us an idea of what you do with your computer. For instance, telling someone to use awesome or dwm isn't too smart if they use their mouse a lot and have trouble remembering keybindings.
    Most Archers use Openbox or a tiling window manager. I can't say if Openbox is right for you, but I can tell you why _I_ like it: it's fast, supports the XDG standards, is EWMH compliant, and has dozens of configuration options. If you can understand HTML, you can understand Openbox's config files. Unfortunately, they're a bit more verbose/bloated compared to Fluxbox's simple configuration. Openbox's sheer number of options gives power to the user, and thanks to their great wiki, nothing's hidden from you. I think it's worth the 30 minutes to an hour to spend setting up your keybindings, behavior options, and menu. OBconf can help with the more frequently changed options, too.
    The thing about Openbox is that it doesn't come with a panel. If you're used to a panel/taskbar, you'll have to either use a separate panel app (like pypanel) or use a window manager that comes with one (a la Fluxbox). The same goes for the tray and pager. If you really need all of those functions, however, it may just be smarter to go to a full desktop environment, where those features come standard. XFCE is the lightest full desktop environment. LXDE seems like a DE, but most of the software used are separate projects.. so it straddles the fence between "software setup" and "desktop environment".
    I hope my post helped and wasn't too wordy.

  • DS sends updates to DB only in commit (can't find modified data in same TX)

    Hello experts!
    We have a physical data service mapping a simple Oracle database table. When we update one record in the database (invoking submit on the DS), and use a function in that same dataservice to get the refreshed record, the updated column comes with the OLD value. But after the transaction ends (we isolated this is a simple JWS), the database gets updated.
    The most strange fact: we also did a test using another Data Service to do the update, now mapping a stored procedure to do the updates (without commits in body). Then the test works fine.
    The conclusion I can reach is DSP is holding the instance somewhere after the submit() and is not sending it to the database connection. I understand that the commit is not performed, but if I do a query in the same TX, I should see my changed, shouldn't I?
    We use WL 8.1.6 with DSP 2.5.
    We´d appreciate very much if yuo guys could help.
    Thanks,
    Zica.

    Let me get your scenario straight
    client starts a transaction
    client calls submit to update a data services
    client calls read to re-read the update value (does not see update)
    client ends the transaction
    If you read now, you will see the update
    And you're wondering why the first read doesn't seem the update values?
    By default, ALDSP 2.5 reads are through an EJB that has trans-attrib=NotSupported - which means if you do a read within a transaction, that transaction is suspended the call is made without any transaction, then the transaction is resumed. So this is one reason you don't see the read. To do the read via an EJB method with trans-attribute=Required. See TRANSACTION SUPPORT at http://e-docs.bea.com/aldsp/docs25/javadoc/com/bea/dsp/dsmediator/client/DataServiceFactory.html
    If you are using the control, the control will need to specify
    @jc:LiquidData ReadTransactionAttribute="Required"
    That is only part of the solution. You will also need to configure your connection pool with the property KeepXAConnTillTxComplete="true" to ensure that your read is on the same connection as your write.
    <JDBCConnectionPool CapacityIncrement="2"
    KeepXAConnTillTxComplete="true" />
    Then I have to ask - if your client already has the modified DataObject in memory, what's the purpose of re-reading it? If all you need is a clean ChangeSummary so you can do more changes (the ChangeSummary is not cleared when you call submit), you can simply call myDataObject..getDataGraph().getChangeSummary().beginLogging()

    Hi
    My point is that the more detailed you ask your question, the more likely you are to get an answer.
    Those of us who monitor these newsgroups also appreciate you doing as much of your own research as possible, before asking us for help - we're more likely to spend our own (personal and valuable) time helping you, if we know that you've spent your own time doing research, and you've still not been able to solve the problem.
    I look forward to your next question :-)

  • [solved] failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package)

    Hi.
    So today I tried updating my system after about a month. I keep getting the error in the thread title. Pacman does not mention which packages are corrupted. I tried upgrading the explicitly installed packages individually and those which could upgrade were upgraded. However, a few remain unable to upgrade.
    I have tried using the new pacman.conf which comes with the latest package, I have followed this blog post, regenerating my mirrorlist using reflector, re-downloading all the packages, pacman -Syy, SigLevel = Never ... and nothing seems to work. Please help.

    Thank you Jelly It was a .part file. I was using aria2 to download prior to switching to the new pacman.conf. There was only one offending file. I would have thought that pacman would at least tell you which file was corrupted when it found one or even not recognize .part files as complete packages. Anyway, I deleted the .part file everything went smoothly.

  • Performance problem: Converting rows to a comma separated column using STUFF() and self join

    Hi,
    This might be a really dumb one to ask but I am currently working on a table that has sequential data for steps that an invoice goes through in a particular system. Here is how it looks:
    ID InvoiceID
    InvoiceSteps
    Timestamp
    283403 0000210121_0002_2013
    Post FI Invoice
    2013-07-01 19:07:00.0000000
    389871 0000210121_0002_2013
    Clear Invoice
    2013-08-25 14:02:00.0000000
    Here is my extremely slow query that converts multiple rows of an invoice into a single one with 'InvoiceSteps' listed according to their timestamps in a sequential manner separated by commas.
    SELECT [InvoiceID],
    [InvoiceSteps] = STUFF((
    SELECT ',' + ma.InvoiceSteps
    FROM invoices ma
    WHERE m.InvoiceID = ma.InvoiceID
    ORDER BY [Timestamp]
    FOR XML PATH(''), TYPE).value('.', 'NVARCHAR(MAX)'), 1, 1, '')
    FROM invoices m
    GROUP BY InvoiceID
    ORDER BY InvoiceID;
    Here is the end result:
    InvoiceID InvoiceSteps
    0000210121_0002_2013
    Post FI Invoice,Clear Invoice
    My question: How can I improve the query so that it can process thousands of records as fast as possible (>600K in this case).
    Thanks you!

    There are many methods to concatenate the rows to columns. Assuming you have necessary indexes to support your query as Rishabh suggested, if you still find issues with performance, then you need to look at various other approaches as well. I have seen at
    certain places(huge data), CLR outperformed . Having said, we need to assess each and come to a conclusion for your scenario.
    Refer the below link for various approach, (please also look at the comment session as well):

  • Safari is slow, crashes and asks for certificates

    Safari is running very slow. The first page opens normally then every page after that it runs very slow and crashes some of the time.  I am also getting a lot of notices for "unauthorised" cites and am being asking to verify certificates. These notices are for common pages like google and gmail.
    I am also posting my post recent crash log.
    Any advise would be very helpful.
    Thank you.

    If there's an update available, go ahead and install then restart your Mac and try Safari.
    You need to empty the Safari cache also. Launch Safari. Hopefully it won't crash before you can do this.
    From the Safari menu bar click Safari / Empty Cache.
    Or...  Option + Command + E on your keyboard.

  • What happens if there is an error during a commit?

    What happens if an error occurs while committing a transactional resource?
              For example, say the transaction manager successfully sends a commit
              notification to two transactional resources at the end of a transaction, but
              then gets an error while trying to commit a third one. It can't rollback the
              first two because they've already been committed. Is it up to the client to
              perform forensics in this case, or is it too rare to account for?
              Bob

    Bob,
              This is exactly the problem that is solved by "2 phase commit" of transactions.
              The JTA transaction manager will not tell the 3 resources to commit. Instead,
              it will tell them all to "prepare" - it is the resources' responsibility to
              confirm that they have prepared only when they have written the post transaction
              stast to disk and KNOW that they can commit, if required, in the future.
              When all 3 prepares have returned OK, the transaction manager writes a record to
              disk confirming its decision to commit. Only then will it go ahead and tell the
              resources to commit.
              Hence, in your secnario, the 3rd prepare will fail and the transaction manager
              will tell the other 2 resources to roll back.
              Of course, if something catastrophic happened (disk head crash, fire...) then a
              commit may fail, leaving the results inconsistent as in your scenario. This is
              termed a "Heuristic completion" and you need to send in the DBAs to take care of
              the forenzics that you are worried about.

              I hope that helps,

  • What is the point of commit for oracle.apps.ego.item.postAttributeChange ?

    I'm using the Advanced Product Catalog APC (PIM Data Hub PDH) and have a question regarding the business event oracle.apps.ego.item.postAttributeChange
    Does anyone know if this event is raised after the commit of the entire record, or is the actual attribute group row insert/update/delete commited individually?
    The reason I ask is because the rule function that will be fired by this event will need to capture additional item information that could be contained in separate rows or tables and need to know if it will be available at the point in time this event is raised.
    Thanks for any advice on this topic.

    @W_J_T (and MikeChambers)
    “yeah you gotta be good at something rather than no good at anything, that is true. ;-)
    I guess that is why I don’t understand this big push by Adobe to make their users become mediocre in many areas. Can you please elaborate on this point Mike Chambers? Why should I be bad at a lot of things rather then good at a few things? I don’t get it.
    “As far as apps vs fields, the first thing many people wanna know is if you know the required software for the given task(s).”
    On one hand I understand the need to have software skills on the other hand software skills without artistic talent does little good.
    “Why that is I don't know, its rather odd and does not allow people the same ability to only focus on their more specialized sectors like in the past with the Creative "Suites".”
    I understand the problem Adobe had with suites; all the products had to be released on the same time schedule which meant some were released way before they should have been. CC gets around that problem but Adobe hasn’t done a good job at telling why anyone needs all the apps.
    “Did you just wish to have some dialog, or do you have a specific question or suggestion about things? I am kind of confused at this point sorry. ;-)”
    It just seemed odd to me when I kept hearing these Adobe evangelists getting excited about the ability to use so many apps. I came here since I was hoping Adobe could explain why having apps in so many fields that you are not talented in is a good deal. So far I am still waiting for Adobe to answer that question.
    “your passion seems to be solely the design aspect of things.”
    Yes, it is but perhaps most importantly is the issue of time dedicated to learning a new craft. I have a good amount of design work so looking into a career change at this point doesn’t make sense for me. If I changed my career I would have to turn down design work that I currently have  coming in and that would be a little silly.

  • Sap R/3 and XI -- Commit fault ModuleException. Please help

    Hi All,
    I have a RFC interface between Sap R/3 and XI.
    I am getting error in SM58 in R/3 :
    Commit fault com.sap.aii.af.mp.module.ModuleException: call to messaging.
    If I do test connection on in SM59 on TCP connection it's ok.
    For the above error I also receive for some time the below SLD error message in RWB of XI
    "Error during communication with System Landscape Directory: HTTP response code: 503 (Not Ready)"
    Please advice as it is production problem.
    Regards

    Hi Rick,
    Sometimes this error comes when there are huge amount of transactions taking place simultaneously. To resolve this ask your Basis guy/DBA to increase the screen numbers in database.
    Thanks!

  • Two phase commit and bean managed transactions

    To all the Transaction GURUS!
              Hi guys (-and gals).
              I've been doing J2EE for quite a while, but today was my first at
              XA-Transactions and Bean Managed Transactions.
              Why am I doing this?
              ====================
              Well I have to be able to controll the transactionalbehaviour of my
              bean
              during runtime, since some bean calls would cause a transactional
              overflow due to the stress they would cause to the system, whereas
              smaller bean calls need to run in one transaction.
              -> Therefore I need Bean Managed Transactions
              Since the bean does a call on two Database Connections it has to use a
              XA-Transaction.
              -> Therefore I need XA-Transactions.
              Abstract
              ========
              - I just can't get a User TransAction into the right Status it stays
              in 'STATUS_NO_TRANSACTION' all the time
              - Therefore the SQL Commands can be comitted 'java.sql.SQLException:
              Does not support SQL execution with no global transaction'
              - Therefore I can't do a rollback 'java.lang.IllegalStateException:
              Transaction does not exist'
              - Therefore I wrote this mail.
              I don't want to be a smart-"ass" writing such a detailed and indepth
              mail. I just would like to show that I tried, and would like to have
              some replies from you guys.
              Below are my configurations, code and logfiles.
              Thanx for taking your time and hope that the other people may learn
              something as well.

              CONCLUSION
              ==========
              I'm going nuts.
              I just don't get it.
              The transaction is the same. I don't change the Connection. I start
              the Transaction at the beginning before I do anything!
              Please guys help me out.
              Thx alot.

    Hi Priscilla
              (did you ever see the movie ? :-))
              Well I moved away from the idea of using bean managed transaction. I'll
              be using Container Managed Transactions. To modify the
              transactionalbehaviour I'll write proxymethods which have certain
              different containermanaged transaction properties, but which all call
              the same private methods.
              But it works! Here is my experience:
              - I was doing a DDL statement: I was trying to create new Tables, which
              is a definite "no-go"
              - pay careful attention to:
              http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs60/jta/trxejb.html#1051405
                        and
              http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs60/jta/trxejb.html#1051741
              and use these Settings for the Pool, don't ask me why, but it took me
              hours to find it out by myself:
                   <JDBCConnectionPool CapacityIncrement="5"
              DriverName="weblogic.jdbc.oci.xa.XADataSource" InitialCapacity="1"
              LoginDelaySeconds="1" MaxCapacity="2" Name="oracleSecurityPool"
              Properties="user=xxx; password=xxx; server=xxx.xxx.xxx"
              RefreshMinutes="5" Targets="fbsserver" TestConnectionsOnRelease="true"
              TestTableName="Users" SupportsLocalTransaction="true"/>
              where as the server (shown as: xxx.xxx.xxx) is the TNS Name of the
              Oracle Driver.
              It works great.
              Another thing you guys might want to do is write a simple StatelessSB
              which does JDBC calls and two different database Connections.
              Then write a UnitTest which calls this bean a couple hundred times (with
              the same transaction). Have one test do clean writes, and another which
              causes some SQL-Exception (too long Data Columns, or likewise).
              Always count the entries and see if everything worked out. We're using
              this SetupConstruction to test new combinations of AS(sorry Priscilla) /
              Database / Db-Drivers to have a "standard test".
              I know my two cents were uncalled for, but it might save you some
              time.....
              thanx for your help
              Stefan

              Hi Stefan,
              Looks like you have not actually begun a transaction by calling
              UserTransaction.begin(),
              so your setupTables method is really executing with no transaction
              context.

  • SSIS importing comma delimited with double quote text qualifier - Works in VS - SQL Job ignores text qualifier and fails (truncation)

    I've created an SSIS package to import a comma delimited file (csv) with double quotes for a text qualifier ("). Some of the fields contain the delimiter inside the qualified text. An example row is:
    15,"Doe, John",IS2,Alabama
    In SSIS I've specified the text qualifier as ". The sample output in the connection manager looks great. The package runs perfectly from VS and when manually executed on the SSIS server itself. The problem comes when I schedule the package to run via SQL
    job. At this point the package ignores the text qualifier, and in doing so pushes half of a field into the next available column. But instead of having too many columns, it concatenates the last 2 columns ignoring the delimiter. For example (pipes are fields):
    15|"Doe| John"|IS2,Alabama
    So the failure happens when the last half of a field is too large to fit into the next available field. In the case above _John" is 6 characters where the IS2 field is char(3). This would cause a truncation failure, which is the error I receive from the
    job history.
    To further test this I created a failure flow in my data flow to capture the records failing to be pulled from the source csv. Out of ~5000 records, ~1200 are failing, and every one of the failures has a comma delimiter inside the quoted text with a 'split'
    length greater than the next ordinal field. The ones without the comma were inserted as normal and records where the split fit into the next ordinal column where also imported, with the last field being concatenated w/delimiter. Example records when selected
    from table:
    25|"Allan Percone Trucking"|GI6|California --Imported as intended
    36|"Renolds| J."|UI6,Colorado --Field position offset by 1 to right - Last field overloaded
    To further ensure this is the problem, I changed the csv file and flat file connection manager to pipe delimited, and sure enough every record makes it in perfectly from the SQL job execution.
    I've tried comma delimited on the following set ups. Each set up failed.
    SSIS Server 2008 R2 RTM
    DB Server 2008 RTM
    DB Compat 80
    SSIS Server 2008 R2 RTM
    DB Server 2008 R2 RTM
    DB Compat 80
    SSIS Server 2008 R2 RTM
    DB Server 2008 RTM
    DB Compat 100
    SSIS Server 2008 R2 RTM
    DB Server 2008 R2 RTM
    DB Compat 100
    Since a lot of our data comes in via comma delimited flat files, I really need a fix for this. If not I'll have to rebuild all my files when I import them to use pipe delimiters instaed of commas. I'd like to avoid the extra processing overhead if possible.
    Also, is this a known bug? If so can someone point me to the posting of said bug?
    Edit: I can't ask the vendor to change the format to pipe delimited because it comes from a federal government site.

    Just wanted to share my experience of this for anyone else since I wasted a morning on it today.
    I encountered the same problem where I could run the package fine on my machine but when I deployed to a server and ran the package via dtexec, the " delimeter was being replaced with _x0022_ and columns all slurped up together and overflowing columns/truncating
    data etc.
    Since I didn't want to manually hack the DTS XML and can't install updates, the solution I used was to set an expression on the textdelimiter field of the flat file connection with the value "\"" (a double quote). That way, even if the one stored in XML
    gets bodged somewhere along the way, it is overridden with the correct value at run time. The package works fine everywhere now.
