Audigy 2 NX - intermittent interrupted sound while playing 997Hz sine wave f

I just now bought Audigy 2 NX last week. When I play a 997Hz -3dB sine wave sound file, the sound coming out from SPDIF and analog output jacks are not continuos, it is interrupted intermittently. The sine wave audio file is provided by a famous audio instrument company Audio Precision. I must play the sine wave file to verify my Audigy 2 NX. Unfortunately, the sound is not continuos. The sine wave file can be played very smoothly a nd correctly on other notebook PCs. Is there any one who knows what happened to my Audigy 2 NX ?
Why do I play the 997Hz sine wave file ? I am responsible for design notebook PC hardware. I must test my audio design to see if I can pass Windows Vista Logorequirements or not. My company bought the Audio Precision instrument for the test. In order to test Microphone Input characteristic with the instrument, I must buy Audigy 2 NX to play the recorded audio file. Audio Precision recommend me to buy Audigy 2 NX for the measurement. The analog output of Audio Precision is connected to the Mic-In of my notebook PC. The notebok PC will record the 997Hz sine wave sound from Audio Precision. After recording the sine wave sound, I play the recorded file on my notebook. The file will be sent to Audigy 2NX from USB port, and then the Audigy 2 NX will send the sound to Audio Precision through SPDIF. Audio Precision will analyze the sound coming in from the SPDIF port. So I can measure Mic-In quality.

I have same kind of problem with my "Soundblaster Audigy 24-Bit", cos' I can't enable the "Advanced HD" effect in FEAR and Quake 4. I've heard that it can be fixed with a patch but I'm not able to install any of these patches I have downloaded from creative.com, everytime I try to install some of these patches it causes a fatal error which says "Make sure you have installed previous drivers correctly". I have tried everything but nothing seems to work.
Hello fellow sufferer
As I've found out so far the Advanced HD in F.E.A.R. is EAX Advanced HD 4.0 and our SoundBlasters are, whysoever, limited to EAX 3.0. I guess the patch you tried to install was the EAX 4.0 patch for the Audigy 2 series (of course my NX is not included,arghh...).
When I read "EAX ADVANCED HD Game Effects deli'vers mind-blowing gaming realism." in the Audigy 2 NX description on the creative site I did not realize that this "mind-blowing gaming realism" is strictly limited...

  • I muted the sound while playing angry birds and now I can't get the sound back. I have the sound on ipod, just not with the games.

I muted the sound while playing angry birds and now I can't get the sound back. I'm fine with ipod, just the games

If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • Crackling sound while playing music in HP SPECTRE 15-4010nr Ultrabook

    Hi all,
I have recently bought [4th Jan. 2013 ] HP SPECTRE 15-4010nr Touchsmart ultrabook with beats audio.
I am very unhappy with sudden/random crackling bursts of noise while playing music.
The problem is not restricted to hp inbuilt speakers as it also reaches on headphones, so it's something internal to laptop.
Its really disappointing to have such a bugging issue from this high end laptop.
Please let me know if there is a solution to this problem.
    Thanks in advance!!
    This question was solved.

Yeah even for me it seems unhooking power adapter does the trick !
Even my Laptop is just 4 weeks, how could manufacturers let so common bug seep through their high end laptops.
Are these not tested for audio video quality ?
Anyways I need an alternate fix as I do not want to lose my laptop for a month, in exchange or return process.
P.S.: Sound drivers re-installation is of no use.
HP Guys, thanx for ur concern, but if u can give a fix for AC adapter noise interfernece it will be great. !!

  • Interrupted sound when playing

When playing DVD the sound frequently interrupts and it is stepping back and forward (but the picture is continuous).
My settings: "SPDIF" in PowerDVD, and "Decode dolby digital/spdif in" as well as "use installed decoder" as decoder setting.
    Hardware used:
    Audigy 2ZS Platinum
    Gigaworks S750
AMD Athlon XP800, 256MB, Windows XP

    This is simple.
When in digital mode, the PC does -not- do the decoding. It sends it to your reciever to do the decoding through the S/PDIF. Anyway, a DVD is AC3 or DTS. Sound from your PC is nothing so it's just sent PCM.
When playing a DVD, your reciever is decoding AC3 or DTS data, so it doesn't play anything else but that. Or Vice Versa
No way around this, except by using Analog.Message Edited by dalponis on 05-4-2005 04:34 AM

  • Windows Media Player no sound while playing a avi file in server and client connection using TCP/IP connection

    Hello there
I have a problem with my windows media player while using server and client connection by using TCP/IP connection. So when I play a video using Windows Media Player in LabVIew there isn't any sound come out but when I'm playing a video by a Windows Media Player only the sound will come out. Can you help me solve this problem?
I also upload the vi as the reference.

    Hi ican,
I was looking at your VI's but I cannot seem to pinpoint exactly where you are using Windows Media Player.  In order to more quickly assist you, could you please recreate this issue more concisely in a smaller set of VIs.  Also, were you able to get sound when you did not use the TCP/IP connection and simply played the files in LabVIEW?
I noticed in a few places that you were using the Play Sound File.VI from the Graphics and Sounds palette.  Is that what you are refering to?  I noticed there that the file path that you have designated for the song is simply the song title.  Instead, this should be a path to where the song is located on your computer.
Also, if you are planning on using Windows Media Player, have you considered using the ActiveX commands for Windows Media Player?  Here are a few examples if you are unfamiliar with this functionality.
    Example 1 and Example 2.
    I hope this helps!

  • Loosing sound while playing movies on the Ipod

I have been converting some of my movies to the Ipod format using "WinAVI MP4 Converter". The program worked, the movies were installed on the Ipod and are playable...for about 60 secs. Then it freezes and after some seconds keeps playing but without sound. Using FF stopping again will make the sound come back for another 60 secs.
Anyone know a solution to this problem? Is it the software causing movies with errors or is it the Ipod?

    That is the problem.
1.1 messes up the video capabilities. So that is your problem. The only way to get the audio back on your vidoes is to reformat your iPod back to 1.0. That should be on the disk that came with your iPod. But when you reformat your iPod, it removes everything that was on it.

  • Scratching sound while playing songs in iTunes

I've recently had scratching sounds in my iTunes songs. It sounds as if a cd is playing and there's a scratch on the cd. I've researched different ways of fixing this problem, but so far nothing's been helpful. I've tried resetting my equalizer settings and just using the miniplayer (which are suggestions for this problem) but nothing's working. I've also updated to the newest version of iTunes and have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes. How do I stop the scratching sounds?

  • I can not get any sound while playing Flash content in IE, FireFox, or Chrome

I have Windows 7, 64 bit.  I have ie 8, I think it is 32 bit, ("About ie" does not indicate 64bit).
I have unistalled Adobe Flash and re-installed, I have verified that I have the REG files under System32/ and SysWOW64/ (or whatever)...
I installed Chrome after I have having this problem.  I have plugged my speakers into both the AudioJack in the back of machine, as well as in the headphone Jack.  I have tried just using headphones...
I have gone to the 'configuration site' I have deleted Windows temporary files, I have deleted i.e. and FireFox files.
I have checked multimedia setting in ie advanced tabs.
I have checked the sound volume in the 'Mixer'
Sound works in my broser for Quicktime applications (like video on apples website).  Sound works everywhere else...playing music, Windows startup, speaker test, etc...
I have worked on this for hours!!!  Please help.
    Thanks!
    -Bob

    Below are the Steps from:
    http://www.codecguide.com/fix_for_flash_sound_problems.htm
    And my results:
Flash stores its files in a temporary files folder. A corrupt download can cause the sound problems.
    Delete the following folders:
    C:\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Application Data\Adobe\Flash Player
    C:\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player
    Actually…Note that point 1 sould be %APPDATA%\Adobe\Flash Player%APPDATA%\Macromedia\Flash Player
    (Thanks willener)
I completed this – No help
    Empty your temporary internet files.
Internet Explorer: Tools -> Internet Options
Firefox: Tools -> Clear Private Data
Opera: Tools -> Delete Private Data
I completed this – No help
    Empty your temporary files folder.
Use this command to empty your temporary files folder:
    Start -> Run -> RMDIR /S /Q "%TEMP%"

Install the latest version of the Flash plugin. You can download it HERE. If you have problems upgrading the plugin, then uninstall your existing version first with this tool. Close your browser(s) before you run the uninstall tool.
I completed this – No help
Run the K-Lite Codec Tweak Tool. Near the top you should see an option to fix the sound (Midi, WaveOut). Select that and press Next. If the option is grayed out, then that particular registry fix is not needed. This fix will restore a missing "wavemapper" registry key.
I completed this – No help
Go to the Flash Player Settings Manager website. Click HERE.
Check the box called "Allow third-party Flash content to store data on your computer."
I completed this – No help
Go to the Flash Player Settings Manager website. Click HERE.
Click on the button to remove the data that the Flash plugins has stored for websites that you have visited.
I completed this – No help
Check if your sound device settings are correct:
Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Sound and Audio Devices -> Audio
This is not correct instructions for Windows 7.
Obviously I have checked sound settings in RealTek Audio manger several times. As well as in the mixer, and in the Internet Option Settings (Advanced Multimedia).  I checked setting under “Hardware and Sound” there is nothing there that has any effect.
If you have QuickTime installed, then go to the QuickTime control panel. On the Audio tab, set "Default Music Synthesizer" to "General MIDI".
On the Advanced tab, disable "Enable playback of Adobe Flash tracks".
On the browser tab, click on "MIME Settings". Under "Miscellaneous", make sure "Flash media" is unchecked.
These are not accurate options on my computer (Quicktime 7.6.9).
Under Default Music Synthesizer.  There is no “general MIDI” only option is “Quicktime Music Synthesizer”
Advanced Tab: “Enable playback of Adobe Flash tracks".is not an option
Browser Tab: "Flash media" is not listed under MIME Settings (There is no Miscellaneous)
Check if the file msacm32.drv is present in the C:\Windows\system32 folder. If not, copy it from another PC (that has the same version of Windows) and place the file in the system32 folder. If you are using a 64-bit version of Windows, then the file should be present in the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder.
    Verified these files are here.
If you are also having sound problems with other applications, then re-installing your audio drivers might solve the problem.
I am not having problems with other audio applications, but I still completed this – No help

  • No Sound while playing AVI

I currently have the latest version on QT Pro. I have been using QT for ages, even when I was an avid Windows user.
Anyway, I have never encountered this problem until a few months ago when I decided to upgrade to the Pro version of QT. I can play/view my AVI movies, but there is never any sound. There is nothing wrong with the soundcard, all is set to 44100.0, and everything else seems to be looking fine. When I play vids in the different format like ASF or MOV I have sound, but why not with AVI??
If someone could help me with this little problem, there's three cheek pinches in it for ya. :o)
ALSO, I HAVE NOT FOUND A WORKABLE ANSWER BY SEARCHING THE DISCUSSIONS.

    Only three?
Seems slightly wonky that an upgrade to QT pro had made your sound disapppear. However, the the previous poster mentioned, QT should be able to tell you what the codec is.
However, I assume that it's likely to be AC3. Go to http://www.perian.org for the 'one size fits all' codec which includes the AC3 audio codec. Alternatively, if you don't want to install perian (did I say how wonderful it is) have a look at http://www.woggledog.com/mac/index.asp?subject=audiocodec for list of places that do have the AC3 codec on it's tod.
    Good luck

  • Strange pop sound while playing music on 5320XM

I hear a strange pop or tick sound when I play music on my 5320 XM another user had the same problem he was advised to update his firmware.
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=phones&message.id=46209&query.id=267441#M46209
but he didn't mention whether the problem was solved or not
anyone else experiencing the same problem of tick sound
    and was your problem solved
    thanks in advance

....dont know much about software/firmware versions and stuff, but i found out some temporary solutions: adjust de volume to a level where this pop sounds dissapear, turn off loudness and stereo widening in the audio settings menu and finally try to play music in the offline profile (perhaps the most effective...does this mean that the pop sounds are due to some kind of interference???)
    hope this helps

  • Choppy sound while playing videos

When I'm watching a long movie on my iPod, the sound gets off key the further you get into the video. The sound usually ends up playing too slow for the speed of the video. If anyone knows what I'm talking about or can help let me know. Thanks.

What program did you use to convert your movie with?
