AUDIOBOOK NOT SHOWING UP ON NANO

I have recently purchased both a Christmas album and an audiobook for my Nano. I've downloaded plenty of music and audiobooks to my nano before.
When I open my Nano on my MacBook, it shows that the book and album are both on the Nano, and I can play them both. However, when I disconnect my Nano from the Mac, I can't find them on my Nano.
All software updates have been installed.
Any help out there? Thank you!

  • Audiobooks not showing up on ipod nano with iTunes 8.0

Help! My audiobooks are not showing up on my ipod nano. They are in the audiobook catagory in itunes and the audiobook catagory shows up when my ipod is plugged into the computer, however when I unplug it I can't find the files! There is no Audiobook catagory or playlist on my ipod (unlike the on the computer). Has anyone else had this problem and figured out a solution? Thanks!

    Hi,
I have the same problem. If you look under 'Albums' you will find the books listed there but they behave as 'Music files'. Apple need to fix this but when?

  • Audiobooks not showing up in iPod tab when searching

So, I have this problem with some audiobooks. If I connect my 5th generation iPod 60GB to iTunes, it shows up as normal. I then select the iPod, and I try to search on a specific artist (Or writer if you will) in the search field on the right. But, most of my audiobooks artist does not show up, so I can select them single handedly.
I have some older audiobooks that shows up just fine, but not all the newer ones.
If I select to sync my entire Audiobook collection, or create playlists and throw the seperate audiobooks in there, they sync just fine.
I would just like to be able to select an artist in the search field and get it to sync though. Of course all of audiobooks are marked correctly with tags and mediatype.
    Any thoughts?

I think this has been covered in several posts (search under "audiobooks"). Basically, even the stuff you download from iTunes Store is not always formatted correctly for your iPod to place in the correct spot.
Downloaded books show up in iTunes under Audiobooks, but not on your iPod under the same. Close iTunes. From windows explorer, find the audiobook in your My Documents/My Music/iTunes/iTunes Music folder and change the extension on the file from .m4p or .m4a to .m4b and then relaunch iTunes. Find the audiobook and play it for a few seconds so iTunes properly recognizes the file. Make sure that it is listed under the genre "Audiobooks" - if that genre is not available, pick custom and create it. Right-click the file and pick info, then options and make sure that the buttons for replaying from last position and skipping during mix play are selected. Re-synch and it should show up on your iPod under Music->Audiobooks.
Books that you import from CDs have to be manually configured to show up as Audiobooks - again, details can be found by searching these forums.

  • Audiobooks not showing up

I downloaded an audiobook from iTunes on my Verizon iPhone 4 with iOS 7.0.3. I can not find the audiobook in the iTunes library on my phone. It only appears when I perform a Spotlight search on the phone. Additionally, the book does not show up on my iMac (not even with the iCloud emblem next to it) and I have synced several times.
I also cannot see a books button at the top of my iTunes library despite the fact that I have enabled it under preferences. I am begining to think that Apple is slipping. These types of things shouldn't require any work or my enabling something that should have never been disabled in the first place.

The commentary doesn't help us solve your problem, so let's please drop it, ok? It's simply not productive and turns many people off from helping.
Syncing iDevice-purchased items have ALWAYS benn transfered back to the computer this way.
For your audiobook, tap the More button at the bottom to show your audio books.
The contact problem can be related to trying to sync with two end points. Google and iCloud for example. Don;t do it, it can only cause problems.
You might also try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • Album Artwork not showing up in Nano

I just got a Nano and I have been importing my CD's to iTunes so that I can put it on my Nano. I have manually put in the artwork for the albums, but they're still not showing up in my Nano. I see it in iTunes under my iPod when connected, but not on the actual iPod. I'm reading a lot about "syncing" with the computer, but I don't really understand what it means. Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Sony Vaio   Windows XP   Nano/Shuffle

    Hi,
'Syncing' just means plugging your nano in, and if everything is set to auto (usually this is how it comes straight out of the box) iTunes should fire up and copy your tracks to the nano.
Here is a link to the tutorial if you haven't already gone through it:
Add Song Information, Lyrics, and Artwork to My Tunes
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod101/tunes/2/#4
You shouldn't have to convert ID3 tags as far as I know.
I put the album art straight onto my iPod when it was connected to iTunes
Not sure if this is the problem - the Artwork goes on the track in iTunes first, then you sync (load) the tracks to the iPod.
The artwork becomes part of the mp3 file so it gets moved across to the iPod when you load your track.
If you are still having problems after going through all this then get back and we'll try work out what to do next.
You may want to do the restore step to set it back to factory conditions: The 5 Rs: Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall & Restore

  • HT1977 Purchased audiobooks not showing in itunes account

I have recently purchased 5 audiobooks in iTunes on my work laptop and they are not showing up on my iPhone nor my iPad.  I'm logged in to my iTunes account on my laptop so, I would assume what I purchase within my account, should show up in my account so I dont have to purchase the same items twice.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue?  And living outside of the US shouldnt be reason why it doesnt allow me to sync through my account - there should be no reason why anything shouldnt work the same no matter where one lives on God's green earth!

Start by choosing Store> Check For Available Downloads in iTunes. It should see the audiobooks, which should appear in the Books dropdown menu. If that works, you should then connect your iPad or iPhone to your computer. Open the device, and click on "Books". Then select "Sync Audiobooks". If this completes. and the audiobooks sync to your device, they should then be in the Music app, under More (...) > Audiobooks.
You may need to either close and re-open the Music app, or possibly restart your iPhone or iPad to get them to show up.
Do you have iTunes Match, by chance?

  • My purchased audiobooks not showing in my music app on the ios 6

I am having a small problem, I recently installed the new ios 6 and last night I sync my iphone 4s and when I unplugged it i noticed my audiobook wasn't there. I went to the imusic app at the bottom of the phone and I can['t find the audiobook tab. I tried searching for the audiobook and couldn't find it within my music list. I plugged the iphone again, and the audiobook shows that it is sync to the phone. So for some reason it's not appearing in my imusic app. Please help!

Media was moved via external hard disk, and I think I moved the iTunes Media folder after consolidating it.

  • Audiobooks not showing up in Audiobooks Genre

Some of the audiobooks I have purchased from the ITunes store show up in my Audiobooks menu on my iPod, but some of them do not. Does anyone know why this is and how to fix it. The audiobooks play fine and I put them in a playlist to listen to them, but it just seems strange that they don't go where the others have gone.
Now, I also own some audio books on CD. When I import them, they don't go into the Audiobooks menu in iTunes or on my Audiobooks menu on my iPod. Any way to make that happen?
I have attempted to change the genre to get them to 'move' but that hasn't worked for me in the past. I am open to ideas.
    DP

As people have already pointed out, you have to rename the files from ".m4a" to ".m4b". If you only have a few, it's easy enough to open a command prompt and "rename *.m4a *.m4b" in the right directory. Then you have to add the files into iTunes again, and delete the "old" tracks that are now "dead" because you renamed the files.
Or, you could use a program I wrote to make this a little easier. Just download this and run it, select the tracks you want to move (they must be AAC-encoded), and click "Move Files to Audiobooks".

  • Purchased Audiobooks not showing up

Music is working fine along with Music Videos, but when I recently purchased an audiobook and click on audiobooks in itunes it shows up. I synced and then went into my ipod on itunes and it showed up. but when I disconnect and try to find the book under audiobooks it doesnt show up. I can find it with all myother songs but it would be nice if it showed up under audiobooks since the menu is there. What am I doing wrong?

I too have this problem since the latest iTunes upgrade. In iTunes itself the audio books are displayed in the correct list. The books are transferred to my iPod but not in the Audiobooks list.
Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks

  • Why is my audiobook not showing up on iphone 5c?

I downloaded a new audiobook on itunes and it is not anywhere on my phone after a sync.  How do I get it?
    Thanks,
    Brad

I know this is a little late, but the other data showing up may possibly be corrupted data. To get rid of the other data i recomend that you back up all ur information manually (transfer purchases and sync contcts ect) then restore the phone as new or erase all content and settings then resync your information. Do not restore from a backup because it will put all of the other data back on your phone.

  • Audiobooks not showing up on IOS7 devices

I am getting a little frustrated with audiobook downloads on the iTunes store.  I've made purchases (several) recently on my iphone5s (ios7), and the download occurs, but even when looking at the purchase I made from the device in the iTunes store, I don't get the option to actually open the audiobook with anything.
I thought for a while that I was missing an app or something, and I checked the "more" tab in itunes (on the iphone) but to no avail.  I did a sync to itunes on my mac, and they show up on my mac for some reason.  There's nothing I seem to be able to do to use them on my IOS7 device.  I can't test on an a previous IOS version, but frankly I don't care, this is rather tedious for an audiobook, and makes me think I should just purchase audiobooks from audible or something else.
However, even when I launch audible, and have it check my local library (on the phone) for existing audiobooks, it doesn't find anything.  The ibooks app shows none of the audiobooks, and in iTunes when my phone is connected, it shows the audiobooks (in books tab) as being present on the phone.
    I am confused, and frustrated.

If I tap on Settings > General > Usage > Music it then breaks it down to how much is used by music and beneath that lists the audiobooks that I have in the Music app and how much space each is taking up.
Does the screen that you get when you select them via the spotlight screen and play them look like the Music app ? e.g.
I've re-arranged the tabs that show at the bottom of the Music app so that Audiobooks shows via the 'main' part of the screen, not via More :
You could try closing the Music app via the multitasking bar and see if Audiobooks shows as an option after you re-open the app : double-click the home button to open the taskbar, and then swipe or drag the Music app's screen from there up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
If that doesn't fix it then you could try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

  • Audiobooks not showing up on iPod

    Hello,
I added a number of audiobooks (mp3) to my iTunes (v 11.3.1.2 on Windows 7) library, marked the albums as media type "audiobook", and then synced with my iPod Classic (v 2.0.5).
In iTunes I can see that the files were copied to my iPod, where they are listed under the Audiobook tab.
However, when I go to the Audiobook tab on my iPod they aren't showing up. Only a few random files from a couple of the audiobooks are in the list, but the rest is missing. The audiobooks aren't showing up under Music either. They do however show up in the Recently added list.
    Any advice, please?

    Hey oyedivani,
You may need to try to restore your iPod using the information in the article below, then re-sync all of the information onto your iPod again:

  • Audiobook not showing up in iPhone 5

I bought an audiobook and it downloaded to my computer, but it didn't show up on my iPhone even though I have automatic downloads authorized. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi IslandArtist, please go to your iPhone's SETTINGS-MUSIC and turn on HOME SHARING, then check your iTune Library.
You should be able to see all your audiobooks.
    Hope this helps!

  • Audiobooks not showing up from Mac to ipad

I can't seem to get my audio books to synch over to the iPad. Could use some guidance.

I had the same problem, but i finally found a sollution to the problema and its really easy.  When you click on the books tab on you iPhone you need to scroll down (its not obvious that you can scroll down) and then put a tick in the check box "Sync Audiobooks".  It's that simple, check out detailed instructions here:

  • Audiobooks not showing in iTunes on iPhone 3GS

I've always downloaded audiobooks from the library to my iPhone 3GS and they've always showed up in iTunes under audiobooks.  The book is listed under books on my iPhone in iTunes on my PC.  It may be a coincidence, but since I upgraded to IOS 5 they no longer show up in iTunes on the phone.  I have to search iPhone to list the book and then I can play it from there.  Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

    Hey there sjohjaba!
It seems like there might be two issues going on here, so I want to address them individually. The first issue is an issue with grouping your songs together, and can be addressed by an article that explains how songs get grouped separately in iTunes sometimes, even though they might be by the same artist or in the same album. That article can be found right here:
Why aren't songs with the same album art grouped together?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1468
Next is the issue of missing songs in your iTunes library. Frequently, this will happen when you have transferred your library from another computer, but have missed a step in transferring all of the content in that library. We have another article that can fully explain the steps to transfer your whole library successfully through multiple avenues, and that article can be found here:
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527
One of the key things to do before you transfer would be to make sure that you consolidate the library on your PC before you move it over to your Mac. Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.
