Auto generated types and ps1xml formatting files

Hello,
I'm using New-WebServiceProxy to work with a web service... when I call methods of the web service powershell auto generates types, for example, things like "Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.NewWebserviceProxy.AutogeneratedTypes.WebServiceProxy1_webservices_awebservicepage_asmx.TheMethodReturnObjectType"
1. should I just use that type name in my ps1xml formatting file? I'm wondering if that will be fragile... seems fragile like 'webServiceProxy1' for example, what if there is some scenario it uses '2'? Not sure if I can count on that being consistent?
2. I started creating custom objects and adding my own type name to them so that type name could be used in the ps1xml file. This works fine. However so far it was for web service methods that returned single instance results.. now I hit a point where I'm
calling a web service method that will return a collection... so I'm wondering if it would be better to just use the auto generated type name  in the ps1xml or, as I would need to do in this case, actually enter a foreach loop to create a new custom object
for every object in the returned collection? In other words, for the web service methods I've used so far for this, I simply created my custom object and write-output... for the case of the collection, I would be new-object'ing and write-output'ing within
that foreach loop.. wondering about performance issues, or if it's just overkill when I could just put that auto generated type name in the ps1xml file and be done with it...
not sure if I've asked that very clearly...
essentially, I'm wondering if it's overkill (from a resource usage perspective) to be creating these custom objects in the case of when there will be a collection, with potentially hundreds of items, when the only reason I'm doing it is for display purposes...
if it were not an autogenerated type I would simply use the type name in the ps1xml, I'm just not sure if I can do that in this case as I don't know if that typename will *always* be the same?
any input would be appreciated, thanks

Hi DJC,
I haven't rexperienced this, however, to create a .ps1xml file, these examples may be helpful for you:
Creating a module for powershell with a format file
discutils / utils / DiscUtils.PowerShell / DiscUtils.Format.ps1xml
about_Format.ps1xml
I hope this helps.

  • Are there any libraries can be used to generate Type 1 font postscript file

    I am trying to create a Type 1 font postscript file. But I found it is hard to find the library to generate the Type 1 font postscript file. I just found a library named iText which can create the Type 1 font PDF file.
    Are there any libraries can be used to generate Type 1 font postscript file?
    Thanks!

    I don't see much benefit with the current ODI adaptors for planning if it is an EPMA type planning application.
    They have been specifically designed to work with classic planning applications.
    It certainly is possible to load into EPMA interface tables using ODI though there are no direct adaptors and it takes quite a bit of effect to get them into the correct format.

  • Util to auto-generate getters and setters...

    Does anyone know of a utility that automatically generate getters and setter classes from a list of variable names???
    Might stop me getting RSI!

    i gave up on gets/sets about 2weeks after mylecturer
    introduced them to us :/Giving up on gets/sets is a mistake... take it from an
    EXPERIENCED programmer.you assume 2 much. Uni was a long time ago 4 me.
    >
    if a var can be modified, then make it public.Though
    adding a get/set method does provide encapsulation,it
    also requires more typing, bloats code and is alsoa
    fraction slower.Adding get/set methods provide more then just the
    encapsulation. It provides you easier debug not to
    mention easier way to read the code.Encapsulation encapsulates the idea of ezier debuggin :]
    gets/sets do not automatically give you code readability, and badly named gets/sets can detract from readability.
    >
    Sometimes gets/sets serve a purpose, but most ofthe
    time theyre just a waste of time.If you think set/get is a waste of time your attitude
    will get you into trouble. Consider code with a full
    set of public variables in a 'complex' system (well,
    lets just say 1500 classes).ok, you've applied my philosophy to your field, now let me apply yours to mine.
    I write games for Java enabled mobile phones(J2ME MIDP1.0), on this platform code size (and memory usage) is a SERIOUS concern.
    FYI. the Nokia 6310i mobile phone has approx. 140k of heap, and a jar size limited of 30k.
    EVERY line of code has to be optimal, in both space and time,
    The cost of gets/sets; inheritance; interfaces and all the other wonderful OO design features of java are serious performance inhibitors, and consequently are used only when absolutly necessary.

    During development a bug is discovered and you realize
    that the bug is due to a change in a specific
    variable. How do you, quickly and simply, find out
    what classes are changing the variable. It could be
    anywhere; but by having a get and set method for that
    variable you could add a simple code like "new
    Exception().printStackTrace();" into the set method
    and get a trace when the bug happens. This way you
    would know within secondes what object is changing the
    variable making the debugging easy. don't write buggy code ;] (that was a j/k btw)
    btw, im curious how exactly do u realise that the bug is related to a specific variable? gets/sets help debugging, but they are not the magic bullet of debugging techniques.
    >
    What if you would like to override a class and to
    something before or after a variable is manipulated?
    This would be impossible if all variables are public.
    You will loose all control of you code.you are still argueing a different point to me - the abstraction of gets/sets do serve a purpose, however they also impose a cost.
    >
    There are many more reasons for adding the get/set
    methods but it will take me all day to write them all
    here.
    I say: "have all variables protected, GET OFF YOUR
    ASS, and add the 200 lines of code" if not for you
    then for the one that later will be using or fixing
    the code.
    Its quite funny watching a newbie programmer start
    writing a class, they identify the classes required
    attributes, then write 200lines of gets and sets
    before they even consider tackling the 'hard'bit[s]
    of the class :]What do think of code guidlines that are forced by
    most software companies? This is more important then
    most NEWBIES think; wait a few years and you will get
    the point..
    my point here, is that training programmers to follow guidelines before you have taught them the fundamentals of problem solving is futile.
    What about comments? Do you find them funny and
    useless? hope you don't...for your sake.no, all good code should be commented. But I have to admit, I don't waste time commenting code as i write it, i find it slows down my coding. However I will always go back and comment any code if it is to be used by some1 else.
    >
    Thinking it funny that people take the time and effort
    to make their code more readable, understandable,
    accessable, flexible and over all more pretty makes
    you the newbie.hmm, unprovoked flaming - now whos the newbie :/
    >
    It scares me to think that the new breed of
    programmers will think it funny to write GOOD code.
    bopen, bwise, bbetter...
    What frustrates me, is why good design always means slower performance.
    It shouldn't, and until Java progresses to the point where the runtime cost of good design is not significant, I will still regard Java as a primitive language.

  • How to write to both .csv and binary format files

    Hi, I am very new to labview. I have been given the programme to process measurement data and save the data into .csv format. But the file in .csv format is very large. So on top of the .csv, I would like to save the processed data into another binary file at the same time. I have attached the .vi to this post, I tried to add an write to binary function to the programme, but there are quite a few errors. Could someone give me a hand please? Thanks a lot.
    Attachments:
    RF Analyze_test.vi ‏40 KB

    I agree that TDMS is worthwhile looking into.
    As far as your issue: which errors are you referring to? Are you referring to the missing assignments to the tunnels? That's due to the fact that you did not wire a value for the other case. An output tunnel must generate a value for all cases. You can right-click on the output tunnel and select "Use default if unwired". In this case the value will be the default value for whatever datatype is being generated. If you are referring to other errors, please be specific.

  • Adobe Professional generating aab01152 (and like named) files when trying to entered data in comment

    We are trying to make comments in a pdf that then digitally sign it and save it.  This has worked fine for months and now it is giving us problems.  When trying to save the pdf we'll received the "unspecified error" message or the program will simply lock up or close on its own.  Sometimes the digital signature will save, but not the comments.  It will work for some users and not others and even work for some users on the same workstation, but not others on that same workstation.  In addtion in the folder the pdf is located it has been generating aa*(such as aab00152, aab001280, etc) files w/ no extension.   Thanks!

    I meant the File->Save option should not be gray if you "make a change" anywhere in the document. I only have access to an OSX Server remotely to illustrate this point so SimpleText should help you understand what I mean by a grayed out menu item:
    The big red arrow.
    You can get to the Save As dialog so clearly grayed out menu items wasn't the issue. Moving on..
    Your screenshot buttons may be unresponsive but they also aren't "grayed out". Here's a Save dialog with a truely grayed out button:
    Your button is not grayed out.
    Accurately describing your issue here will help quite a bit. The "save crash" issue has been so rampant it's the first suggestion I had so I offered it. Often repairing the FLA fixed the saving mechanism.
    In your case I honestly haven't come across your issue so I have no more suggestions outside reinstall Flash completely.  Good luck.

  • Trying to auto generate roles and privileges

    Greetings All,
    Oracle Enterprise 11g v11.2.0.1.0 on Windows Server 2008
    I have a database with many schemas. One of the schemas is referred to as the CM_MASTER schema in that it has been granted the following: dba, create user, drop user, alter user, create any table, select any table, and a few others, all with the “with admin option” clause.
    We have developers that need select only access to the tables and views of the non-master schemas. My plan was to create a unique ROLE for each schema, then grant select on each table and view in that schema to that unique role. Then grant the appropriate role(s) to each developer hence giving them read only access.
    I can accomplish the above manually while logged on as the CM_MASTER schema.
    I am trying to create a procedure owned and executed only by the CM_MASTER schema that creates a new role and then grants to that role. The procedure accepts a parameter containing the user name of the target schema. The procedure is able to create the role (create role scott_r) successfully.
    However, I am getting an insufficient privileges error (see below) after the role has been created, when trying to issue the “grant select on scott.some_table to scott_r” command via "execute immediate".
    Any ideas what privilege(s) the CM_MASTER user needs in order to be able to issue the grant(s) to the role?
    Error message below:
    exec gen_schema_role('scott');
    Error report:
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
    ORA-06512: at "CM_MASTER.GEN_SCHEMA_ROLE", line 30
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    01031. 00000 - "insufficient privileges"
    The procedure code is below:
    The utl_file.put_line commands were added for debugging but nothing gets output.
    When the "execute immediate" lines are commented out, the output from the utl_file.put_line commands displays the correct SQL create and grant statements.
    create or replace
    procedure gen_schema_role(p_db_user in varchar)
    as
    v_role_name varchar2(30);
    v_bat_out utl_file.file_type;
    cursor get_object_names is
    select object_name from dba_objects
    where owner = upper(p_db_user)
    and object_type in ('TABLE','VIEW')
    and status = 'VALID'
    and object_name not like 'DR$%'
    and object_name not like 'XT%';
    begin
    v_bat_out := utl_file.fopen('SR_BACKUP', 'Create_Roles.sql', 'W');
    v_role_name := substr(p_db_user,1,28) || '_r';
    utl_file.put_line(v_bat_out, ' ');
    utl_file.put_line(v_bat_out, 'create role '||v_role_name);
    execute immediate 'create role '||v_role_name; <<-- This seems to work, the role gets created
    for a in get_object_names
    loop
    utl_file.put_line(v_bat_out,' grant select on ' || p_db_user || '.' || a.object_name || ' to ' || v_role_name);
    execute immediate 'grant select on ' || p_db_user || '.' || a.object_name || ' to ' || v_role_name;
    end loop;
    utl_file.fclose(v_bat_out);
    end gen_schema_role;
    Thanks,
    Snyds

    sb92075,
    I just tried, and YES the SQL is able to apply the "grant select" statements to the newly created role.
    I wanted to call this new procedure from the procedure that creates a new user by scheduling a job to perform an IMPDP job to import a base schema (using the remap schema clause).
    Any suggestions how to automate generating this role?
    Thanks,
    Snyds

    This isn't related to Javamail in any way.
    I'm not aware of a Java library to read .dbx formatted databases, and doing so in 100% java would be a pretty large project (I would suggest a COM bridge, but you specifically stated you do not want to go that route).

  • Cannot Save generated PDF, and associated data file is in french not english

    Hello,
    So I have 2 weird issues.
    First, after I save my newly created form as a PDF, I send it off to my coworker, they cannot save the document after filling it out, only print.  Checking the security settings on the document, everything is allowed except document assembly, changing the document, and creation of template pages, yet they cannot save the filled out form only print.  Created in LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 with Adobe Reader 9.
    When I generated previewed data, the saved data is in french yet all of my settings are English including program, OS, and regional settings are all English US.
    Need help asap.

    Thanks for the reply.
    The option I was trying to do is:
    User has the Reader (form Reader Enabled using the full version of Acrobat before deployment. See licence restrictions)
    user can open form;
    fill it in;
    print it;
    data connections to databases and web services will NOT work;
    user can save the form.
    The actual answer to the question is this:
    Enable Reader users to save form data
    Ordinarily, Reader users can’t save filled-in copies of forms that they complete. However, you can extend rights to Reader users so they have the ability to do so. These extended rights also include the ability to add comments, use the Typewriter tool, and digitally sign the PDF.
    Open a single PDF, or select one or more PDFs in a PDF Portfolio.
    Choose Advanced > Extend Features In Adobe Reader.
    The other question regarding the data in french is still unknown why it is doing that.

  • Strange issue creating a BCP xml format file with double dagger '‡' (alt + 0135) as column terminator with bcp.exe

    Hi,
    I'm having issues generating a BCP XML format file using a fairly unusual column terminator, a double dagger symbol
    ‡ (alt + 0135) which I need to support.
    I'm experiencing this problem with bcp.exe for SQL2008 R2 and SQL2012.
    If I run the following command line:
    bcp MyDB.TMP.Test_Extract format nul -c -x -f "C:\BCP\format_file_dagger_test.xml" -T -S localhost\SQL2012 -t‡
    I end up with a XML format file like so:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <BCPFORMAT xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2004/bulkload/format" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
     <RECORD>
      <FIELD ID="1" xsi:type="CharTerm" TERMINATOR="ç" MAX_LENGTH="255" COLLATION="SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS"/>
      <FIELD ID="2" xsi:type="CharTerm" TERMINATOR="ç" MAX_LENGTH="50"
    .. and so on.
    You will notice that the TERMINATOR="ç" (Minuscule c-cedilla) is output instead of TERMINATOR="‡". The
    ç character, is strangely enough is alt + 135 (and not alt + 0135) so this might more than a coincidence! I know you can specify the codepage but this switch applies the data being imported or extracted and not for the format file
    itself (I tried it anyway).
    In order to use the XML file to bulk import I manually did a text substitution of 'ç' character for '‡' and then BCP imports '‡' data fine.
    This character swap doesn't occur if I generate a non XML format file (the '‡' character is output in the format file correctly) however, this file produces other import errors, which I don't encounter if I use a standard delimiter like a comma. So I have stuck
    with the working XML format file which I prefer.
    Does anyone know why this is happening? I'm planning to automate the generation the of the XML format file and would like to avoid the additional step of text substitution if possible.
    Thank you.

    Hi Ham09,
    According to your description , we do a test and find that the character of the terminator is changed due to the code page of Operation System. When you choose the different time zone in Data and Time bar, and do the same bcp test, you will find it will
    export the different TERMINATOR in your XML format file. For example, you can import the character "ç" (alt + 135) in (UTC-12:00)International Date Line West time zone and (UTC+09:00)Osaka, Sapporo, Tokyo time zone, and check if the terminators are different.
    By default, the field terminator is the tab character (represented as \t). To represent a paragraph mark, use \r\n.
    For more information, there is detail about code page(Windows), you can review the following article.

  • Exporting report as PDF and CSV formats same time with out executing DB query twice

    Post Author: cpriyanka
    CA Forum: Exporting
    I am using Crystal Report 9.0 version and Java.
    I am getting "PrintOutputController" from "ReportClientDocument"
    And then by calling export(ReportExportFormat.PDF) generating PDF format report.
    Now I need to generate both PDF and CSV format files same time. How can it be done?
    My understanding is when we call "export" it does the DB query execution and other functionality.
    In that case, if I call "export" two times with two different formats, then DB query will be executed twice and that takes lot of time.
    To avoid, is there a way I can all some API so DB query executed once, but I can export report in to multiple formats?
    I appreciate your help.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    Are you using the "pull" or "push" method for your crystal reports?  If you are using the "pull" method (the report itself executes the sql) then I believe there is no way around having the query execute twice since it is fired off each time you open and export the report.
    If you use the "push" method, however, then you can just create the recordset/dataset and then set the datasouce once for the report.
    Here's a broad overview of push and pull though the Crystal Report Viewer is used.  The viewer may or may not be applicable in your case:

  • READING AND WRITING TXT FILE, GUI COMPONENTS.

    HI GUYS I AM JUST NEW TO JAVA AND I AM TRYING TO LEARN SOME MORE IN JAVA. SO I NEED HELP FROM YOU GREAT GUYS WHO KNOWS MORE & MORE THING THAN ME. I CODE A GUI FOR THIS PROGRAM. THE CODE IS BELOW.
    This program has to read a txt file to create Food objects which will consist of a food name, a serving size, and a number of calories. A text file is read which contains the calories contained in specific food items. From this data, an array of Food objects will be created and used to populate a combo box for user selection. The Food objects will also be used in calculating the balance calories for a given user on a given day.
    User input will be used to create User objects which will be user name, age, gender, height, weight, and Food Diary objects (composition). The Food Diary objects will consist of Date (composition), Food object (composition), number of servings, and a balance. Food Diary objects will consist of the activity on any given day (see text area in sample output screen below). All User objects are saved to a file as objects and can be retrieved on subsequent runs of the program.
    The program will calculate the number of calories the user is allowed per day to maintain the users current weight (see below for formula to use for this).
    BMRMen = 66 + (13.7 * weightPounds/2.2) + (5 * heightInches*2.54) - (6.8 * age)
    BMRWomen = 655 + (9.6 * weightPounds/2.2) + (1.8 * heightInches*2.54) - (4.7 * age)

  • Adobe 7, and opening a pdf file with a auto generated report

    We have upgraded to the latest version of a tool we use to generate reports. The older version, when you exported the report to a PDF file, it would open it in an internet broswer, IE 6/7 in this case, and just display the PDF in the browser.
    With the latest version of the reporting tool, when you export a report to a PDF file, it opens up a blank IE windows, and subsequently opens the autogenerated report in a separate Adobe Reader window, but it does not have the primary focus. It pop's under the blank IE window. This causes a lot of confusion to our employees who are not computer savvy as they are not aware the PDF actually opened since the window did not get primary focus on the screen.
    The company which writes the tool for us says there are no changes to the way it auto generates the pdf file, and insists it has nothing to do with their software.
    We decided to dig a little deeper and only found one difference between the old and the new software.
    Old - Content-Type: application/pdf
    New - Content-Type: application/pdf;charset=UTF-8
    Would that command cause our problems? It almost seems at though Adobe 7 plugin in IE7 doesn't recognize the "charset=UTF-8" and dumps the pdf to the full Adobe reader.
    If anybody has any insight, or would need some more info to help solve the problem just let me know.
    Also, we have to stay with Adobe 7, since all 7000+ computer's this affects have identical images, and upgrading to a new version costs $$$$ and has to go through massive channels.

    Welcome To  Discussions Kathy216!
    If these are files, that are already on the Hard Drive, click once on a pdf document to highlight it.
    Press the Command + I keys, to Get Info.
    Click on the ▼ Disclosure Triangle for Open with:.
    Select Adobe if listed. If it is not listed, select Other..., and navigate to Adobe, and press Add.
    In the Get Info window, click on Change All.
    If these are pdf documents, that you are viewing on the Internet, a handy utility to use is PDF Browser Plugin.

  • Data Recover From Formatted Drive? What is the best program to use to get back Logic Projects and any other file type?

    I was in the process of reorganising my hard drives so I could RAID them however I managed to corrupt one drive and had to format it which meant I lost all my Logic Files and some other files. I managed to save a lot of files (mainly video files) before I had to format the drive but I need a Data Recovery service that will not alter anything on the hard drive and will put all the formatted files (regardless of the type) back for me so I can get the rest of the ones I need.
    Thanks in advance.

    What about folders and such?
    No. FS doesn't reconstruct folders. However, Data Rescue does, depending on how you use it. About the only thing in Data Rescue a Quick Scan ever seems to show you are files that are already live.
    So that leaves you with a Deep Scan, or a Deleted Files scan. The first pass of a Deep Scan will attempt to retrieve folders and files, along with their original names. The second pass only looks for file patterns. Like recognizing a Photoshop .psd file. It will recover it, but give it a nonsense name. A Deleted Files scan only results in nonsense names of recognized file types; no folders.
    What were you using File Salvage on? A hard drive?
    Yes, though you can use it on a flash drive, or any other mounted drive.
    At the moment it is estimating 289 hours remaining on a 1TB drive. Can it not go faster?
    No, both of the software mentioned are slower than molasses in January. When you delete anything in Windows, its file table entry simply tagged as deleted. So to unerase them, the tag is removed. That's why it works to quickly and easily (assuming you haven't already overwritten the data to be recovered).
    In OS X though, the whole idea of the underlying UNIX structure is all about security. It's not supposed to be easy to retrieve deleted items. When you delete items, their file table entries are erased. So the only way to find deleted items is to scour the entire drive for BOF (Beginning Of File) markers that don't have a matching starting block to anything that is in the file table.
    Another question, half the drive was empty. Will it fly over that empty space or will it sieve through it incase there was some files stored on it?
    If you use the Expert mode is FS, you can choose to do that:
