Auto Suggest Special characters

Hi!
I would like to known if you can use the Auto suggest widget
from the Spry framework with special character typed in the text
box.
In JSONDataSet with loadFromServer:true contains information
with special characters and spry:region appear correctly, but when
i type "Etc fóo" the spry url is ...?parameter=Etc%20f%C3%B3o
but server side value of parameter=Etc fóo,
when i send form url ?parameter=Etc+f%F3o server side value
of parameter is Etc fóo.
I try with charset ISO-8859-1, UTF-8 and i can´t fix
this.
The same error when i type "É" spry url
...?parameter=%C3%89 and server side value of parameter is Ã?,
when i sent form url is ..?parameter=%C9 and i´ts works,
server side is É
Version Spry_1_6_1_022408

Hello,
I must admit that we didn't include into our test matrix such
a scenario so I don't know the answer. However I would like to
clear me a question before starting the investigation.
Do you mean that if you type the 'a' character the widget
should display the values that also starts with "â" or
"à" ? Because this scenario is really not supported.

  • Auto convert special characters

    Good day all and thanx for your help.
    CS3 & trying out CS5.
    A couple of the sites I do, are written in Afrikaans, ons of the 11 official languages in South Africa.
    Afrikaans makes use of characters such as ê, ë, ô, ü, é, ö and so on. I normally forget to change it in code view and make use of &... It then displays as funny characters in browser. Is there a way I can learn/tell DW to auto change my special characters or do you perhaps have a good solution or tip for me.
    Thank you very much.
    Regards,
    Deon

    Hi Deon,
    that happens to me very often too. So I too thought it would be nice to change the special characters automatically. All I've found at that time was a payment program (in those days for CS3). It's still here after all:
    http://www.experts-exchange.com/Web_Development/Software/Macromedia_Dreamweaver/Q_22706485 .html
    Meanwhile, I'll do it in another way. When I finished one of my sides, I use the "Find and Replace"-function of DW. I start searching one of the special characters and after changing them (if necessary), I only replace one character and can start a new action. Look here for example (from my German DW where we have the same problems in our language):
    The general way to insert the special characters you know, I suppose. If not, here you will find a nice tutorial:

    I, too, have found Bridge very unstable. I find this to be extremely disappointing, seeing as it's literally the most expensive piece of software I've ever purchased for personal use. I've seen these two symptoms:
    1. When running in full screen mode, Bridge crashes periodically. This happened on Vista, so I blamed Vista (of course), but even after regressing to XP SP2, I see the same symptoms.
    2. Although I didn't see this on Vista, running on XP I see the problem described earlier in this thread, where clicking on a thumbnail displays the wrong image preview. When this happens the image displayed is one from a different folder! I solve the problem by clearing the cache, and it's OK for a while, but the problem keeps returning.
    3. Even when exiting cleanly from Bridge (using File->Exit), Bridge often forgets where I was working in my previous session. I need to re-navigate from the very top level directory down through the hierarchy to my photo directory.
    Again, it's very disappointing to invest so much in a single software package only to see such basic operations malfunction.

  • DW CS3: Auto Conversion of Special Characters?

    In DW 8 special characters entered or pasted into the text in
    Design view, were automatically converted to & encoded values.
    If you were typing ø, ø was inserted in the code.
    This was very usefull when pasting large portions of non-English
    text.
    It seems that this feature has been disabled in DW CS3. Why?
    How do I enable this feature again?

    The feature has not been disabled. The default encoding in
    CS3 is UTF-8,
    which supports accented characters without the need to
    convert them to
    HTML entities, such as ø. All modern browsers
    support UTF-8, so
    there should be no need to use HTML entities, unless you are
    saving
    content in a database that doesn't also support UTF-8 (MySQL
    3.23 or
    4.0, for example).
    If you want to go back to using HTML entities, change the
    default
    encoding to Western European (iso-8859-1).

  • Special characters into datagrid through the use of buttons

    Hi!
    I have a datagrid for word input, I'm trying to create a "special characters" panel, kind of like google's new "virtual keyboard" thing on google.com, so that the user can enter data into the datagrid cells using characters that aren't on their keyboards.
    I manage to do this just fine, using the solution below. I know this is probably not the best/most effective way to do this, so any suggestions for making the code better will be appreciated. I only started using Flex a month ago.
    grid.addEventListener(DataGridEvent.ITEM_EDIT_BEGIN, selectColumn)
    function selectColumn(event:DataGridEvent):void
    var selectedColumn:DataGridColumn = grid.columns[event.columnIndex];
    selCol = selectedColumn.dataField;
    //The function for adding a special character to the selected datagrid column by clicking a button:
    //(inputWordArray is the dataprovider for the grid called "grid" )
    protected function clickSomeButton(event:MouseEvent):void
    var colIndex:int = new int;
    if (selCol == "from"){
    inputWordArray[grid.selectedIndex].from = inputWordArray[grid.selectedIndex].from + "æ";
    colIndex = 0;
    else if (selCol == "to"){
    colIndex = 1;
    inputWordArray[grid.selectedIndex].to = inputWordArray[grid.selectedIndex].to + "æ";
    inputWordArray.refresh();
    grid.dispatchEvent(new DataGridEvent(DataGridEvent.ITEM_EDIT_BEGINNING, false, false, colIndex, null, grid.selectedIndex));
    The problem is that this only adds a letter at the end of the selected item's value, not at a specific position within the word specified by the position of the cursor. This is what I need to achieve. I have no idea even what to search for, if anyone could please give me a hint that'd be great.

    You will probably need to capture the editor's selectionBeginIndex and
    selectionEndIndex

  • How can I display special characters of NonEuropean languages (French, Italian, Spanish, German and Portuguese.) using import string mechanism

    I would like to translate the User Interface of my application to French, Italian, Spanish, German and Portuguese.
    When I put special characters in the import string file they showed up as ? (question mark)
    The import strings file includes the following parameters for each string: font, text, size and style. (but no field for script)
    In order to use a unicode font such as Arial I need to select a french script. But this option is not supported bu LabView (As far as I saw)
    A) Is there a font which is directly German/ French etc and not regula font + script parameter?
    B) Are there another required step
    s for special characters support? (When I put speciual characters in the import string file the showed up as ? question mark)

    This was discussed last week in this group- read the previous messages.

  • How to handle special characters in Apex

    Hi ,
    In my application I have two regions - one is Report Region (Interactive Report) and other one is HTML region with two text items - Empno and name

    When I click the edit link in the report column, the empno should have a read only EMPNO value and ename is a text field with ENAME value.
    When I run my application I have encountered the following problems :

    2. if my empno has special characters like ',' - the characters after comma is treated as a next texitem value

    Don't pass data values in URLs. Whilst it is possible to escape values to make them URL- and APEX parameter-safe, it is much better practice to avoid the problem altogether.
    Create a surrogate primary key on the table that is an immutable discrete numeric identifier and only use this as a URL parameter. In target pages/regions, use this PK value to retrieve the required data from the table.

  • How to Handle Special Characters in PI7.1

    Hi Team,
    I need to handle some special characters like <,>,& etc.. from WS Adapter to CRM in PI 7.1.
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/9420 [original link is broken]
    By using the above blog i had implemented the Java Code as
    public void execute(InputStream in, OutputStream out){
    try{
    int read_data;
    while((read_data = in.read()) != -1){
    if (read_data == '&'){
    out.write("&amp;".getBytes());
    }else if (read_data == '>'){
    out.write("&gt;".getBytes());
    }else if (read_data == '<'){
    out.write("&lt;".getBytes());
    }else if (read_data == '/'){
    out.write("&frasl;".getBytes());
    }else if (read_data == '\''){
    out.write("&apos;".getBytes());
    else { out.write(read_data);
    out.flush();
    } catch (Exception e){}
    I had added this class file in Operational Mapping.
    It is working  if we have only one IF condition for & in while
    Any suggestion
    Thanks
    Sriram

    Hi Ramesh,
    Thanks for your inputs, I have tried your code but it is not working. The error message stays the same.
    Dear Stephane,
    To describe the error more, the requirement is the payload coming from source through WS Adapter consists of the special characters <, > , & which are basic sematics of XML syntax. I need PI to process this payload with special characters and successfully transfer it to target CRM system. I have created the Java class with code (ref: Blog 9420) as stated earlier and added this class to my existing Operation Mapping. I am expecting the java mapping to replace the special characters in payload like  < with "&gt;" . So as the case with the other characters >,&,'
    After activaton of my operation mapping, I triggered the test message with Soap UI client and I could able to get a successful mapping only When I put the logic for &ampersand symbol only. However when I am trying to add the logic for > or < or ' the mapping is failing . I am using UTF-8 encoding across the source and PI enviroments.

  • How to enter Special Characters in JSP

    Is there any way to enter special characters such as ºC ? i am using J2EE and Oracle 9 i.
    When i try to enter 2ºC after updating the datbase it is converted to 2ºC. All special characters are prefixed with Â. Pls suggest some better way ..

    This normally relates to your unicode set you are using. For example the database is using a different way of storing data than how it's being parsed.
    One quick/dirty fix is to save the data using HTML encoded elements, for example &copy;
    You will also find that &pound; £ will cause problems. If your web app is only for one country then I would not worry about it however if you need multi language support then you need to read up a little

  • How to handle special characters in metadata?

    I have an implementation in C# to call ACS webservices for a long time. Last week we realized that some special characters in metadata fields are making the package request to not work. Example characters: éë. The response from ACS contains E_ADEPT_DISTRIBUTOR_AUTH. If we remove the special character, the request works as expected.
    I know that characters are working in the jar application but we can't manage to make them work from our C# application.
    Any help is welcome.

    Doing a SHA1-HMAC is relatively simple and there are only two inputs, the key and the message.
    Since you say this works correctly with lower ascii characters, but not with Unicode characters then I would assume you have the key correct and the only thing that is different is the message.  Also since it works correctly with lower ascii characters then you have the  XML infoset serialization correct, so assuming a similiarly sized message (ie take one character and replace with a unicode character), then your problem is going to be in the character encoding.
    I would suggest some healthy paranoia about this, by verifying that the byte stream being hashed is indeed correctly UTF8 encoded by looking at the hex values  (breakpoint in the SHA1-HMAC code) and comparing to a UTF8 table such as  http://www.utf8-chartable.de.

    This has nothing do to with NLS_LANGUAGE. In general, character set processing depends on NLS_LANG setting (which is an OS setting and not a instance initialization parameter) and database character set. To understand NLS_LANG see OTN NLS_LANG FAQ http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/globalization/htdocs/nls_lang%20faq.htm.
    However, I think that JDBC is an exception and does not use the character set defined by NLS_LANG. See last answer in following discussion:

  • How to display special characters in APEX Classic Report column

    Ref: Thread: How to display newline characters as new lines
    Version: APEX 3.2
    Hi,
    I have created an classic SQL Report with one of the columns being a decode that gives a value 'Post'(the value should be highlighted in Red) on one condition and 'Pre' on another. I have followed the advice given in the page (URL provided above) , i.e. I have changed Strip HTML to 'No', changed Display as to 'Display as text (escape special characters, does not save state)'. I have also passed this value back to the same page to be stored in a page item each time a link (another column in report) in report is clicked. I have tried passing it as #DEADLINE# and \#DEADLINE#\. The issue I face is, instead of the value being highlighted in Red, it gets passed back as a string holding the value 'Post'. Is there any way I can get this to display as it should without the Strip HTML being changed to 'Yes'.
    Thanks very much.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your response.
    I am trying to display a page item that is derived from a report column based on a click on the URL link (*view >*>)
    This page item (here, it is Manager_ID) should ideally be highlighted when a particular condition is satisfied (achieved using a DECODE in the report).
    But it is not displayed like it should be.
    I do not want the value to be displayed along with the html tags as a string.
    I want the html tags to take effect and highlight the value within it.
    Initially, I had set Strip HTML to Yes and the value was returned without any highlighting .
    So I changed it to 'No' and and it contained the html tags.
    I am not sure what setting in APEX Report Attributes can help me achieve that effect I want.None of the report settings are relevant. They affect the rendering of the report and none of the columns you were changing the properties of were actually rendered.
    You can't pass HTML and CSS around in URL parameters.
    I suggest you pass *2* values in the column link: the MGR ID and a simple class or colour value computed by the DECODE in the report. I've suppressed the first version of the report and created a new one that does this:
    decode(dept.deptno, '30', 'c00', '000') highlight The link column now passes the MGR ID and the HIGHLIGHT colour (red when the condition is satisfied and black when it is not).
    I created another hidden and protected page item <tt>P0_HIGHLIGHT</tt> as the target for the highlight value, and used the Pre/Post Element Text properties of the <tt>P0_G_MGR</tt> to wrap it in a <tt>span</tt> whose colour is changed using the <tt>P0_HIGHLIGHT</tt> value as a subtitution string:
    <span style="color: #&P0_HIGHLIGHT.;">Having done that, I still don't really get the requirement here. I'm sure that given the full picture I'd be using a completely different approach...

  • SSRS and data from SharePoint lists - special characters in HTML

    Hi All,
    This may not actually fit into this forum, but here goes anyway...
    We're using SSRS to report on data stored in Project Server workspaces (so SharePoint lists). Prior to upgrading to 2013, we could pull this data in and set the "Placeholder properties" of the text box to interpret HTML tags as styles and it would
    format everything as it appeared in the SharePoint list. Now that we have upgraded to 2013, this works with a few notable exceptions - some special characters are rendered as their escaped/encoded (whatever the term is) - so a colon which is within the text
    field in SharePoint, rather than appearing in the SSRS report as ":" appears as "&#58;".
    These are multiline, rich text formatted columns in the SharePoint list. Using =Replace(Fields!Description.Value,"&#58;",":") in the report makes the appropriate replacement, but given that this occurs with a handful of other special
    characters as well, this solution becomes very unruley very quickly. Has anyone else encountered this, or does anyone have any other suggestions for a work around?
    If not now, when?

    Facing same issue but having no solution, please suggest..
