Automated Keynote pdf export without the necessary action?

Hi,
I am trying to create a number of automated workflows, including one that
automatically exports and publishes a Keynote presentation.
Sadly, Keynote comes without the necessary actions to do so by itself.
Will I have to write these workflows in Applescript for them to be generic and apply to any Keynote file or is there a way of recording one in Automator so that the finished workflow applies to any presentation (.key) file?
If so, how is this done?
The recording that I do now works, but seems to be tied to this file specifically.
Best regards,

Maybe you can tell system events to print them to PDF?

    ExportPDF is not for forms. In general, converting forms to Word is a really, really bad idea which can even cause legal problems. Work with the form as a PDF. Acrobat (not Reader) can export form data as simple text for example.

  • Is there a way to delete one of several checkboxes from a pdf form without the leftover checkboxes automatically renumbering themselves?

    Is there a way to delete one of several checkboxes from a pdf form without the leftover checkboxes automatically renumbering themselves?
    I used LiveCycle Designer to make a pdf form with many checkboxes. When I deleted a few of the checkboxes the rest left on the form renumbered themselves. This made my JavaScript out of sync since the JavaScript checkbox numbers did NOT update automatically. I am hoping there is a preference option to not auto update. I just cannot find it,

    I believe you're using the same name for each checkbox, right?!
    If so, each checkbox has an index number which represents its position relative to the other copies in the XML tree and when you add, delete or reorder the copies the index will always be recreated because thats the way how XML works.
    There is no way to stop Designer from doing this, I'm afraid.
    To address individual objects through JavaScript you should use unique names.

  • Saving a PDF file without the comments

    In Acrobat Reader, is it possible to save a copy of a PDF file without the comments.
    I'm doing a PhD, and would like to be able to send some scientific papers to colleagues without the annotation I may have added. Of course, manually removing all the comments is not a good solution.

    In the Comment panel, go to the Comments List, press Ctrl+A and then Delete.

    For the hiding, go to the document properties under initial view. You may confuse some folks if there is no file menu to close the file (a lot of folks just can't get the keyboard shortcut, alt-F4, into their head. They are going to look for where to find the file menu to close.

    Hi Karlsek,
    This bug is fixed in DIAdem 10.0, but you can output to PDF file programmatically in DIAdem 9.1 and set the orientation to be explicitly portrait:
    PrintLeftMarg = 0.25
    PrintTopMarg  = 0.5
    PrintWidth    = 8
    PrintOrient   = "portrait"
    Call PicPDFExport("C:\Test Results.pdf")

  • Keynote PDF Export and Color Profile

    I have some color trouble with the pdf-exports of keynote: the color that is shown in the pdf does not correpond with the one in the keynote file. The pdf has more ”milky” colors. Maybe it is a color profile thing. But what profile doese keynote use for the screen? Or does it convert rgb-colors to cmyk? Anyway, how to sync exactly keynote and pdf colors for screen presentations?

    There are a few things you can try:
    In the PDF export box there is an Image Quality dropdown, where you can choose Good, Better or Best. Which are you using?
    Alternatively you can just output the file as a PDF using the Print function. Your profile says you are using Mac OS X 10.4 in which case, in the print window click on the PDF button and choose Compress PDF to output a smaller file.
    If you have since moved up to 10.5, this option is no longer available by default, but there is an Automator action that restores it here : http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/automator/compresspdfworkflow.html
    The other thing to check is whether your graphics are at the actual size you need them or if you have scaled down a big picture, for example. The PDF will still contain information for the full-size image.
    Re-sizing them in something like Photoshop to the size you need first before placing them in the presentation may help.
    Finally, if you have Acrobat (Pro, not just the reader) you can use the Reduce File Size option in the FIle menu to compress the PDF you get from Keynote.
    Post back with how you get on.

  • Keynote pdf export

    Hi I am creating a graphic intensive presentation in Keynote, and wish to export this to i-web for an upload. How do I reduce the size of the export as a PDF. I have tried to drag the PDF export into photoshop but it splits all the frames out and i cannot reduce the doc as a whole. I have built in some hyperlinks and wish to keep them

  • Keynote PDF Export - black text appears white on some computers, but not all - why?

    This problem seems to have been going on forever, why is there STILL no solution? I'm really keen to mover over to Keynote, cos Powerpoint is very cumbersonme and frustrating in my experience, but I'll only ever use Keynote to export PDFs for presentations, so if it can't even get this basic function right, there's really no point in abandoning Powerpoint - at least I know my docs will come out fine and won't have to be embarrassed when clients come back to me frustrated cos they can't read the text!
    Any thoughts?

    That would because some of the colors you are using are RGB and are being converted to cmyk.
    Make a color swatch in the Color specifier and set the ICC profile in the small rainbow square next to the pull down menu in the color sliders tab.
    Then use that color swatch in set styles to ensure you have the same color set on all your objects and text.
    You should not be using jpegs if you want to ensure an exact color. jpegs are not suitable for flat areas of color.

  • Adobe Reader 9 incompatible with keynote pdf export files

    Dear all
    I've been creating lectures using keynote for quite a while and it has been working fine. I'm relying on using pdf export for my students to print out my lecture notes.
    However, since Adobe Reader 9.0, my exported pdf files do not appear right on Adobe -- they look perfect using a pdf viewer but not with Adobe Reader (they seem fine with Adobe 7 !!)
    It's a pretty bad situation, IT services are of no help and don't know why this happens (and are unable to provide another pdf viewer for University computers). I might have to start using a different programme which I really don't want to do.
    Does anyone have the same problem?
    I can export as ppt (loosing some of the nice layout) and quicktime but that's not really a proper alternative.
    Btw it was tried out on a number of different University computers (and sometimes, the disappeared text, appears when highlighting the document)
    Any help much appreciated.
    Thanks

    I just DL'd the newest iWork, with KN 5.0.5, and have Reader 9.4.1. I exported a few of my KN presentations to pdf, and the result was fine with both Preview and Adobe Reader (but then, I had no problem before the update, either). So whatever the problem is, it's not universal.
    But I might still suggest a possible solution for those who are experiencing the problem (which I can't test conclusively, since I don't have it): Once the KN has been exported to pdf, open the pdf file with GraphicConverter, and then save it as pdf (to make sure I was saving a whole new file, and wanting to test it against the original version, I changed its name a bit). For me, again, both Preview and Reader open the new pdf file fine. But my theory is that saving with GC might possibly alter the file sufficiently to make it good for Reader, when it wasn't before.

  • I Paid for PDF Export and the files are not converting correctly

    I purchased PDF Export to take a PDF file and convert it to a text file so I could import it into excel, when doing so I get a bunch of extra symbles plus the numbers that i'm trying to convert are not complete.

    Could you try disabling the 'Recognize text' function and convert the file again?
    Let us know how it goes!

  • New PDF portfolios without the old options

    Previously, we created PDF portfolios so users can view all 3 PDFs in one document. Now, with the latest version of Adobe, the PDF portfolio templates and options are all different. Users must extract each PDF (within the portfolio) to be able to view it fully. This defeats the entire purpose of creating a PDF portfolio in the first place and will definitely confuse our users, who are accustomed to the old PDF portfolio. Is there a way to import old templates to the new Adobe? Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?

    That's just how it is. The navigators from Acrobat 9 cannot be used in later versions and their source code was never released, so to replicate their features you would have to write them yourself, from scratch, using the Portfolio SDK and Flex.

  • PDF Export from the JRC

    Looking for two possible fixes.
    First one:
    I am exporting crystal reports to PDF from the JRC.  I have a report that contains sub-reports in the group header which when displayed, span multiple pages.  In the designer, it starts on a page and then wraps to the next page (as expected).  From the JRC, if the subreport spans multiple pages, it displays a blank page first, then the subreport and subsequent pages.  So for example, instead of a 12 page report, I get an 18 page report with 6 blank pages.
    Second one:
    When the sub-report spans multiple pages, I lose the page headers on the subsequent pages with the sub-report only to get the page header back when the next sub-report prints..
    Are there any fixes for this?
    Victor

    Allow me to actually re-phrase my problem.
    First one:
    I am exporting crystal reports to PDF from the JRC. I have a report that contains a group header which when displayed, span multiple pages. In the designer, it starts on a page and then wraps to the next page (as expected). From the JRC, if the group header spans multiple pages, it displays a blank page first, then the group info and subsequent pages. So for example, instead of a 12 page report, I get an 18 page report with 6 blank pages.
    I do have the "Keep together" check for the group because I do want a new page every time the group begins to print, but I don't want the blank page in between.
    Second one:
    When the group spans multiple pages, I lose the page headers on the subsequent pages within the group header only to get the page header back when the next group header prints..

  • How to Print a PDF programmatically without the Adobe Reader Window

    Hi,
    I'm trying to print a PDF my application. I would prefer to do it as silent as possible - no PrintDialogue | Adobe Reader Window.
    Language C#
    Adobe Reader 10.0
    Here´s some Code:
    public static void PrintPDF(string file, string printerName)
    Process proc = new Process();
    proc.StartInfo.FileName = @"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe";
    proc.StartInfo.Arguments = @" /t /h " + "\"" + file + "\"" + " " + "\"" + printerName + "\"";
    proc.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = true;
    proc.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = true;
    proc.Start();
    Thread.Sleep(1000);
    proc.WaitForInputIdle();
    proc.Kill();
    It works, but the Adobe Reader Window is still popping up -> /h (start the reader minimized) does not work.
    Is there another way to hide the Window ?
    Regards

    Hi,
    I am developing an application, which have to support a PDF print. My result after searching for the best possibilities is this snippet:
    public static void PrintPDF(string path, string printer)
    Process process = new Process();
    process.StartInfo.FileName = path;
    process.StartInfo.Verb = "printto";
    process.StartInfo.Arguments = "\"" + printerName + "\"";
    process.Start();
    // I have to use this in case of Adobe Reader to close the window
    process.WaitForInputIdle();
    process.Kill();
    This is the most generic solution - it prints a pdf unless no matter wich reader is installed.
    Only deficit - the Adobe Reader window still pops up. Why it does not behave like it´s alternatives (for example Foxit Reader) and print the PDF without popping up ?
    Regards
