Available bandwindth and 'max-reserved bandwidth'

Is the max-reserved bandwidth only important when working with Qos classes and the bandwidth statement? Is the default 75% available bandwidth only used then?
In other words if I have a 100MB link with a service policy applied for Voice, Call-Control and video. After that I notice the available bandwidth on thie 100MB link is 61280 kilobits/sec.
If I put in a 'max-reserved bandwidth 95' would I reclaim another 20MB of bandwidth for the class-default? Would leaving 5% on the 100MB link for routing and other stuff be acceptable?

  • Max-reserved-bandwidth 100% for the interface

According to CCO as following text, the remaining 25 percent of bandwidth is used for overhead, including Layer 2 overhead, control traffic, and best-effort traffic. I want to know why cisco choose 25 percent. why not 30% or 20%?
If I config the max-reserved-bandwidth 100% for the interface, does it will effect the routing protocol? also effect the network conectivity?
    thanks for your answer
    =======
    Usage Guidelines for max-reserved-bandwidth
The sum of all bandwidth allocation on an interface should not exceed 75 percent of the available bandwidth on an interface. The remaining 25 percent of bandwidth is used for overhead, including Layer 2 overhead, control traffic, and best-effort traffic.
If you need to allocate more than 75 percent for RSVP, CBWFQ, LLQ, IP RTP Priority, Frame Relay IP RTP Priority, and Frame Relay PIPQ, you can use the max-reserved-bandwidth command. The percent argument specifies the maximum percentage of the total interface bandwidth that can be used.
If you do use the max-reserved-bandwidth command, make sure that not too much bandwidth is taken away from best-effort and control traffic.
The max-reserved-bandwidth command is intended for use on main interfaces only; it has no effect on virtual circuits (VCs) or ATM permanent virtual circuits (PVCs).

    Kevin,
this is the wrong group for this question.

  • Max-reserved bandwidth confusion

    Hi all,
Can someone please help me to understand bandwidth reservation for CBWFQ.
By default you cannot allocate more than 75% of the interface bandwidth to your classes. My question is what is the point? theoretically it is reserved for your routing protocols etc.etc. but in reality if the interface is saturated isn't that extra 25% used by whatever traffic anyway? it not like you guarantee a maximum of 75%, you guarantee a minimum of 75% so the additional 25% is still up for grabs, it's just that it's not reserved for any class in particular.
    hope the question makes sense.
    Thanks,
    Andres

    Hi Andres,
On low speed links, WFQ is the default. So in the case that you have a link with less than 768 kbps, it will be running WFQ. With WFQ, it's not so much 'up for grabs'. WFQ is based on packet size, DSCP values, and time in queue.
Generally, router control packets aren't very large, and by default they are usually in the DSCP 48-64 range, which is very high. So in this case, the control packets are very high priority.
As well, control packets are marked with a special tag on the backplane of most routers (platform specific) to give an even high level of precedence within the router.
When the max-reserved bandwidth is a very high value, it is more likely for the traffic to have a higher interference with these two methods (particularly the first).

    nick

I'm uncertain, but on a 7600 with 15.x IOS, it's likely QoS is following the HQF changes, and if so, max-reserved-bandwidth has really been deprecated.

  • MPLS TE tunnel Bandwidth and ip rsvp bandwidth

I have some questions about how to reserve bandwidth in MPLS TE enviorment.
    1. We must IP RSVP bandwidth in all concern interface in MPLS TE enviroment, right?
    2. What's the goal of ip rsvp bandwidth?
    3. Tunnel MPLS traffic-enginerring bandwitdh XXX, the command define flow bandwidth initiated by head-end, if sending more than XXX flow, how does it work? Drop excessive packet in the flow?
    Any point is welcome! Thanks!

    Hello,
just today I found some time to read RFCs. and found:
4124 Protocol Extensions for Support of Diffserv-aware MPLS Traffic Engineering. F. Le Faucheur, Ed.. June 2005. (Format: TXT=79265 bytes) (Status: PROPOSED STANDARD)
4125 Maximum Allocation Bandwidth Constraints Model for Diffserv-aware MPLS Traffic Engineering. F. Le Faucheur, W. Lai. June 2005. (Format: TXT=22585 bytes) (Status: EXPERIMENTAL)
4126 Max Allocation with Reservation Bandwidth Constraints Model for Diffserv-aware MPLS Traffic Engineering & Performance Comparisons. J. Ash. June 2005. (Format: TXT=51232 bytes) (Status: EXPERIMENTAL)
4127 Russian Dolls Bandwidth Constraints Model for Diffserv-aware MPLS Traffic Engineering. F. Le Faucheur, Ed.. June 2005. (Format: TXT=23694 bytes) (Status: EXPERIMENTAL)
4128 Bandwidth Constraints Models for Differentiated Services (Diffserv)-aware MPLS Traffic Engineering: Performance Evaluation. W. Lai. June 2005. (Format: TXT=58691, PDF=201138 bytes) (Status: INFORMATIONAL)
4201 Link Bundling in MPLS Traffic Engineering (TE). K. Kompella, Y. Rekhter, L. Berger. October 2005. (Format: TXT=27033 bytes) (Updates RFC3471, RFC3472, RFC3473) (Status: PROPOSED STANDARD)
Basically these standards allow to combine congestion management and MPLS TE. The standard says a router "may allocate ressources" based on the MPLS TE reservations.
So MPLS DiffServ-aware TE can deliver both TE and QoS.

  • Oracle reserved and non-reserved keywords

    Hello,
I'm looking for a list of reserved and non-reserved keywords for all Oracle versions starting from 9.
I think Oracle starts at R1, right? So the versions needed would be:
    9.1, 9.2
    10.1, 10.2 and
    11.1
I found lists of keywords querying Oracle view V$RESERVED_WORDS
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/dynviews_2048.htm#REFRN30204
    here:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/ap_keywd.htm
However, this is only for version 10.2 and it contains only reserved keywords.
I need a list for every maintenance/minor version. This list must contain all keywords in Oracle PL/SQL, not just the reserved ones, but also those which shouldn't be used in certain contexts described by the V$RESERVED_WORDS view (former link) -> probably reserved = 'N'.
Since I don't own a copy of Oracle and definitely not of every minor version, does anyone know where to obtain such lists?
You might want to do me a favor and query that view for me... ;-) (you can send the output to "k w u t z k e AT w e b DOT d e" ... don't forget to mention the version)
From what the view tells me, the SQL statements to query are:
    For reserved words:
    select keyword from v$reserved_words where reserved='Y' order by keyword;
    For all other non-reserved words:
    select keyword from v$reserved_words where reserved='N' order by keyword;
Are there any keywords/entities that are neither reserved='Y' nor reserved='N'?
Can anyone help on this issue please?
    TIA,
    Karsten

    Hello,
Is it possible to highlight the Min and Max values on each row of a Query. For example I have sales below by product line for the last seven quarters. The user
would like the Max value (150) for Product Line ABC Highlighted as Green and the Min value (1055) color coded as Red. Like wise for each line - DEF 200 as green and 100 as red and GHI - 400 as green and 100 as red.

  • Min and Max Quantity on Retail Article

    Hi Experts,
In IS-Retail, in the sales view of the article master record there are two fields: Min Delivery Qty and Max Delivery Qty.
If anyone has had experience in using this field, I would appreciate if they can explain to me how these fields work.
I would like the system to provide a warning/error message if the order entry person enters a quantity on the sales order item that is less than the Min Qty or more than the Max Qty specified on the Article record.
I have tried to test this but I was not able to get the system to issue the warning/error message.
If someone could explain to me how these fields work, and how I could accomplish the min/max quantity restrictions that my client would like to enforce, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Anisha.

  • About min and max fonction

    hello,
i need to know the min and max for my signal but only on parts that i want to define by a trigger. The question is to know how i could(in my while loop) only analyse a aprt of my signal but not the whole one. i can't use a for loop because i need to see my signal all the time.
    thanks

    Guillaume Trager,
For the triggering part of your application, there are several tutorials and example programs available to you at NI Developer Zone >> Development Library >> Measurement Hardware >> Analog Input/Output >> Analog Input >> Triggering.
Once you have the proper triggering program, you can use the Waveform Min Max.vi or Waveform Peak detection.vi to analyze your peak data. The Trigger and Gate Express VI may also work as a software trigger.
    Good luck with your application.

  • How much does it cost to replace the Ipad glass? Min and Max?

How much does it cost to replace the Ipad glass? Min and Max?

Apple does not repair iPads, but will replace the entire iPad for a flat fee. If you have AppleCare+ on the iPad, the cost will be relatively minimal; $49 in the US. Otherwise, see the Service Pricing section here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/service/faq/
There are independent iPad repair services that may be able to replace the screen for less. Do a web search for "ipad repair".  You can also look for parts and instructions and do the repair yourself. Note, though, that if you elect to have the iPad serviced by an unauthorized shop or perform your own repair, you will get no further support from Apple.
    Regards.
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Communities page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums and in the Apple Knowledge Base, before you post a question.

  • Has anyone used a touch screen monitor with scxi.I am having video lock ups while using LV and MAX

I have a PCI-MIO-16XE-50 daq card (dev1) connected to a scxi-1000 chassis address 0 ID 1, with a scxi-1102,1163,1163,1162 slots 1,2,3,4 respectively.Cable is connected to daq card to 1102 card .Micro touch screen is used on com2. Have tried other serial ports 1,5. Touch screen works fine with windows until LabView and max is installed .Video lockups,Max failures occur.MAX seems to confict with touch screen.

Max is the NI interface for all the drivers. It may be a specific driver that is causing problems, perhaps NI-VISA. I would try installing things one piece at a time. Might want to start by uninstalling everything so that you start with a clean system. First install LabVIEW with no drivers at all. See if the Micro touch screen still works. Then try installing NI-DAQ. Install each of the drivers you need one at a time. If you don't need something, leave it out.
