Avi Files and JPG FIles on Apple TV

Hi....when I create an Iphoto event, i usually mix avi files (short videos, taken with my camera) with regular photos. I can see this fine thru my iPhoto on the Mac, but on my Apple TV I can see the photos only....is there a smart way to see them along with the photos? Thanks

If you want to add a lot of capacities to your Apple TV you can use aTV Flash for Mac.

Document files and JPG files larger on sharepoint than they ought to be

Documents that I've uploaded to sharepoint (documents meaning anything that is file.doc / file.docx) seem to be nearly twice as large as they should be in most cases. I'm pretty sure that uploading the document to sharepoint mysteriously adds something along
the lines of 10-15KB on top of what is already there (For smaller, one page documents).
The same problem occurs to a lesser extent with jpg/jpeg files, where the image is marginally larger than it would be on a local hard drive. A 5kb image, for example, might be more like 5.3kb on sharepoint. Normally I would expect some form of compression
to occur, and I would expect to see the filesize shrink a bit. I can't imaging what is causing the filesize to go up this way.
I'm assuming there is some kind of strange versioning or underlying data being added behind the scenes, but I was curious as to why the file sizes are much larger on sharepoint than on a local hard drive.
For reference, I am simply uploading the file programatically by sending the byte array to the file itself. I'm not doing anything complicated, really. Nothing I would expect to cause the file to be larger, at least.
It may also be worth mentioning that I re-downloaded the file and compared it with the original, and other than the random size difference, they are 100% identical.

SharePoint 2013 now leverage SqlServer Shredded Storage technology. As you guess it right, going forward SharePoint will shred its content in multiple pieces to only add delta for next version. Great feature for saving storage.
Lets assume a file is 5 MB. In previous SharePoint (SP) version, all subsequent version of that file will be saved differently. If first version add one extra MB to that file, Then total storage would have been as (5MB + 6MB) in SP 2010, but in SP 2013,
the moment we upload / checkout a file, SP will automatically Shred that 5MB file in 10 Shred(Hypothetically 500KB each). I am certain that while Shredding, it has some basic Shred block size (which can be configured) which multiply by number of shred. And
that might be the reason file size is increase.
When we migrate or upload programmatically, Shred logic dont apply, but the moment you check out - SP will Shred it(As per my knowledge). Please test it.

Hidden .avi and .jpg files

I see that I have some .AVI and .JPG files that are hidden in iphoto that I thought I had deleted. Some are in a folder that is labeled "untitled folder". I googled and searched to see if there is any way to retrieve these pictures and movie clips and delete them for good but so far I haven't found any answers. I can get to the untitled folder by doing a seach in finder for .avi or .jpg. There are acutally a couple I would like back in my iphoto library but it won't let me drag them in there. I'd be glad if anyone has ideas! Thanks

When I mentioned the untitled folder to someone from Apple when I had some other problems with iphoto they told me that somehow in a previous version of iphoto that my pictures had been saved some other place then the original and modified folders and that it had created it's own folder- either at that time or when I upgraded. So now I have this folder with no way to access what is in it. They wouldn't address the question when I called because we were dealing with this other issue and so it has been left unresolved... thanks!

I created project in iMovie then exported it to MP4 and also MOV file at highest definition possible + I added it to iDVD and had a number issues about encoding errors regarding the mp4 file. MOV worked but the quality was terrible.....

On both a MacBook Pro, an Acer laptop and my Mac Tower. I would love to think that it is a problem with the playback system, and that if I merely send the file off to the duplicator they won't have the same problem. Maybe that is the case...I don't know if I have a choice rather than sending it off to see. But it happens in the same spots, in the same way, on all three of the players so I'm a little reluctant to have faith.

Of course, but in the case there is no more 'original project.' It is gone like the wind, stolen along with his computer and backups.
I think I am stuck using one of two files as my master: a DVD he burned where I only see the stutter/vibration/jitter once, or the mpeg2 file where I see it three times. Hopefully, the duplication house can rip if off of one of them and not see the jitter. I know that in audio, my personal filed, you can do a lot to enhance already existing sound--EQ, compression, tape saturation emulation software, etc. I guess I'm hoping there is some kind of analog to the video world that address jitter after a source has been printed--if indeed the source has been printed to be jittery.

I'm not sure I understand the connection between iCloud and this problem. Is it simply a problem of coincidental timing (ie, the problem happened after you set up iCloud)? If so, there's almost certainly no connection between these two events.
Where are you getting the files you're trying to open, and what specifically happens when you try to open them?

When I import TIF and JPG files with same metadata, only the TIF files are imported. How can I change that?

I have imported and renamed TIF and JPG files with the same metadata re recording date and time. Only the TIF files are imported, the JPG files remain unimproved. Thus I have in the Finder e. g. 13 image files in the same folder in which Lightroom only finds 10 files. Any ideas for resolution welcome!

Turn off the option Preferences > General > Treat JPEG Files Next To Raw Files As Separate Photos. Then do an import again. It appears that, in this instance, LR considers a TIFF to be a "raw" file.

Bridge CS5 is Corrupting Raw and JPG Files Right Before My Eyes

I am using Bridge CS5 on a Mac to work on Raw files from a Canon camera. The files all looked good in the cameras review, and looked good when downloaded to the computer then the files started to corrupt and become unusable one at a time as I watched. They became all white or lines of color. Not all of them corrupted yhough (about 225 of 1100 did though). I eventually worked the uncorrupted files and even turned them into JPGs and sent them out. The next day I pull up the pics in bridge to see if they are still bad. All of a sudden files I opened and worked on yesterday started to corrupt one after another. Both the JPG and Raw files are corrupt and unusable even though they worked yesterday. It only happens when in Bridge. What is going on? This is riduculous.

Thanks for responding. What happens is I highlight a large group of files then click on open with Bridge or in Bridge I go to the subdirectory with the files. All the files are in a filmstrip on the left side of the screen. All of a sudden the file that I am viewing becomes corrupt (that is it turns into multiple horizontal lines of colors. Then I can watch as it happens to one file after another. I would compare it to when you quickly view film strips that were just uploaded and the initial thumbnail is blurry and then slowly all the thumbnails get clear as they process. But here they appear to already be fine thumbnails but then turn into the files with horizontal lines or sometimes just 30% or so so of the pic is visible and the rest is white or gray. When I try to open it the file cannot be opened because it is corrupt. It happens to both the RAW and the JPG file (I shoot in Raw+JPG). The first day it happened to about 200 of the 1200 files. So I was able to process the 1000 good ones in Raw convertor and create JPGs with no trouble. The next day I open all the files in Bridge again to see if the bad ones are good now and files I had already opened and were perfectly fine in RAW converter start to corrupt one after another like the ones did the day before. So I doubt it is the card or hardware it only happens in Bridge. Bridge must have the capability to do something to the files. It isnt making XMF files so thats not it, it is actually corrupting the RAW and JPG files. Have you ever heard of that. But this happened to Windows and I use MAC.....but I do use a 7D like them. I still wonder if Bridge just doesnt work well with Canon 7Ds or something like that. The above thread never found a solution. Maybe someone from Adobe has heard of this from others and discovered a reason or solution. Until then I cant trust Adobe products at all....which really sucks after how much it cost me, but whole shoots lost is worse, I guess.

How to keyword both NEF and JPG files?

I use a Nikon D300 and shoot NEF+JPG. I ingest the files to my hard drive using Downloader Pro and then import them into Lightroom. Lightroom apparently "stacks" the NEF and JPG files together, and the thumbnail is shown as filename.NEF+JPG. When I keyword the files, the keywords are applied only to the XMP sidecar to the NEF file, and not to the JPG files.
While I guess this "NEF+JPG" is called a stack, this appears to be some kind of special stack, as I cannot unstack the images and keyword them separately. Selecting "Stacking->Expand all stacks" does nothing. "Stacking->Unstack" is disabled.
How can I get the keywords applied to the JPG files as well as to the NEF/XMP files?

OK, I found that option and will try it.
What's the best way of recovering the directories I have already imported with NEF+JPG files? I presume I could delete those directories from the LR database and import them again. (I have enabled the option always to write to XMP.)
That would, I hope, give me both NEF and JPG files showing up in LR. Is there an easy way to copy the keywording from each NEF to the corresponding JPG file?

Rate and label both nef and jpg files

Hello everyone, this probably sounds like a silly newbie question, but is there a simple way to rate and label both the nef and jpg files in bridge.
I work on a pc and right now I have to click on the nef file then ctrl click the jpg file then ctrl #(1-9) to rate both. It seems like a lot of work. When I use batch processing to rename my files it processes them both so i get a raw and jpg with the same name, so why not with labels?
I'm trying to create an easy working flow to my folders and pictures. My camera settings are set to raw (nef) and jpg. I like to have access to both incase i need to send out a jpg etc etc.
Can someone point me in the general direction on how to keep my workflow clean and simple and how to affect both files, because this is becoming really tedious!

Well, first of all, it seems to me that you are creating a lot of extra work for yourself by creating your NEF and a JPEG. If any adjustments have to be done then you have to apply to those adjustments to two different images rather than just one. I think it's going a little far, personally, to have a JPEG copy of every image "just in case" you need to send out a JPEG. Why not just create a JPEG from the NEF file when you need one? But it's your workflow and you can do what ever you want.
Yes, I realize my second suggestion didn't solve the problem. But the problem cannot be solved with Bridge, at least the way it is right now. You have to select the images that you want rated. It just seems to me that your are compounding your work by creating both images all the time. If you have a certain need where you need to produce JPEG images in a hurry for someone, I can understand using the feature. But when it is so easy to create JPEG images that have all of the adjustments, I don't understand the need to have a duplicate JPEG of every image. Again, it's your workflow.
You might speed things up a little bit by going into your Bridge preferences and fix it so that you don't have to hold the control key when applying star ratings. Then you can just hit the number and then the arrow keys to move to the next one.
Another very simple method of creating JPEG copies is to use either the Image Processor or Dr. Brown's 1-2-3 processor, which is a free download from his website. Again, I just think you are creating a lot of work for yourself by having JPEG copies of every image. Unless you are an absolute masterful photographer who never has to make any adjustments to your images, you are doubling the amount of postprocessing required. I promise, I won't interfere in this one anymore.

I know that the folders that have the problem were not transferred to the hard drive via a photo transfer application (I have a Canon camera) but I simply copied them out of the photo card and onto my old PC.

The files don't open in preview either. In preview I get the error message 'The file "xxxx_xxx.jpg" could not be opened. It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn't recognize'. The folders with these un-openable pictures do not even get imported into iPhoto. When I try to import them I get an error message about the files being unreadable.
The color profile information on the un-openable files is not visible but I see that all the other files from my old drive are RGB.

Export PDF file to JPG file

I was able to export PDF file to JPG file so that it can be imported to iPhoto. Suddenly, I found on the DPF File drop down menu I do not find the Export except top Ecel or Word. Anybody can help ?

Not a direct answer to your question, but an alternative way to go from .pdf to .jpg.
Open the .pdf in Preview, then select "Save as" in the File menu, and select .jpg for the format:
