Axis Label Issue

My application creats custom graphs using AS3 and a mySQL
database. Almost all of the graphs render just fine, except I have
one that is supposed to set its vertical axis min to 0% and its max
at 75% with intervals every 25%, and yet its labels render as 0%,
30%, 50%, and 80% instead of 0%, 25%, 50%, and 75%. The data and
gridlines are correct, just the axis labels are wrong. If I set the
min to anything other than 0, the labels are fine. This seems be a
problem if the interval is set to anything other than 5 or 10 (like
15 or 25). Can anyone tell me if this is a Flex bug or if this
issue might be caused by something else? This occurs on a
development server and the live server and there are a couple of
other graphs that have this same issue.
The graph in question can be seen at
http://www.communityindicators.ewu.edu/graph.cfm?id=106.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Yeah, I solved this issue!
I had to set the maximumLabelPrecision for the
LinearAxis.

    hi,
I have tried this out with a sample.
In WEBI preview mode and PDF, all axis labels will appear fine.
But when exported to excel, some labels will disappear.
Workaround: We have to increase the chart size in Excel till all axis labels appear clearly.

  • Showing one data point on a line chart - X-axis label placed away from its actual position

    Hi Guys,
In line chart, i used CircleItemRenderer to show single data point. It shows correctly if it is single data point. But the x-axis label placed away from its actual position. Right now it displayed left most position where the line chart starts. I need to move that label straight of that datapoint where it plotted.  Please see the screen shot attached with this post.
In screen shot, x-axis label "Jan" displayed in left most position.
And how can we show the datatip for single datapoint. At present, we can't able to see the datatips also with single datapoint.
Can any body help me to fix those two issues.

I figured out a way to customize a single datapoint in a line series.  The solution is at this link:

  • Duplicate y-axis labels on charts for small data values -- is this a bug?

    Hi,
I have several charts where the data values are small (1,2,3). The y-axis labels are duplicated for these charts. For example, if the data value was 2 the y-axis labels display as 0 1 1 1 2 2 2. I know that I can manually set the maximum y-axis value and also set the segments on the chart to eliminate the duplicate values. My issue is that I have over 100 charts in my dashboard and I have to manually set the values each month, and then in the next month when the data values are larger I have to remove the maximum y-axis value so the y-axis value is dynamically created. Is this a known bug within the software? Is there any fix for this besides what I'm already doing?
Please let me know if anyone else has seen this issue and if this is a bug, or if this has been corrected in any fix packs.
    Thanks!!

    Hi Jim,
I have data for three months in the data range A1 to B3 as given below -
    Jan - 1
    Feb - 2
    Mar - 3
In Cell D1 write a formula =MAX(B1:B3)+1 (This will give you value 4)
Go to Chart property -> Behavior -> Scale -> Manual (Y) Axis ->  Minimum 0 and Maximum will be pointing to cell D1.
Go to Chart property -> Behavior -> Scale -> Division -> Size of Division 1 and Minor Divisions 1
This will give you Y Axis values as 0,1,2,3,4
Now change value of any month to 5.  Now value in D1 would become 6 and Y-Axis would change to 0,2,4,6.
    Hope this helps.

  • Line Charts - X-axis Labels as function of X-axis value

    Hi,
    1) Is there a way to put X-Axis labels in line chart as function of X-axis values ?
For instance, X-axis values are in minutes and I need to show those as Hours.
I'm having Hours as separate column as well, but when its selected as X-axis value column, the line graph is disturbed.
    2) Also, how to specify the length/range of X-axis ?
For instance, in dataset if I've x-axis values from 0 to 5 hours but still want to show on graph the X-axis till 8 hours.
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Regards,
    Sumit

  • CR 2008 - Chart legend label issues when run on CR Server 2008

    Hello all,
I have built a report in CR 2008 SP4. When I run the report locally everything is okay. In this report I have a chart which performs a count on {Command.Incident_ID}. The label for this count comes out as "Count of Incident_ID" in the legend. I then right click on this legend entry, edit the axis label and change it to something more appropriate.
When I upload this report to CR Server 2008 v0 or CR Server 2008 V1 SP3 the report does not function properly. The chart label gets produced as Count of Command.Incident_ID instead of the label I specified. I believe this is due to the CRS attaching the Command. header to the Incident_ID. It no longer matches up with what I specified during design.
Now I've gone back to older reports that I built and I can see that I did not have this issue before. I've recently upgraded to CR SP4 and Windows 7. I really feel like this is probably some option/setting on my designer side that I need to mirror on the server, however I have been unable to locate any information. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!

After some testing the issue seems to be related to having SP4 installed.
When I reverted back to SP0, or SP3 it worked fine, but under SP4 it seems to drop the table reference and thus not use the correct alias for the legend names.

  • Editing chart Axis label

Hi. I have a report where one chart repeats one time, and in Preview, I am able to click on the Axis label and find an option to Edit the label, where I define 1 - 12 as Jan - Dec. However, another chart repeats for 80 or so pages, thus I can't use Preview to edit the label as it effects one chart at a time. Is there a place to edit axis labels in Design?
    Thanks!
    Robin

Thanks so much for following up on this. To clarify, converting month numbers to names is nice, and I did that using the specified order suggestion, but it doesn't effect the order of say, May, when Jan thru Apr are missing, and in fact created other issues of data misintrepatation I didn't bother resolving at the time.
I suppose the best solution would be something that supplies a placeholder for blank months, so that the Jan-Dec order remains constast and the data graph bars appear in appropriate months, Jan-Apr no bars, May-Dec with data generated bars.
    Does this help?

  • CR4E Chart Axis Label

I have a report developed with Crystal Reports XI Standard that includes a chart. The axis labels for the chart have been set (via Edit Axis Label) and appear correctly in preview mode of the Crystal Reports XI designer (e.g. "District" instead of "Sum of StateReportsView.District").
When this report is exported to a PDF file via a Java program (using Crystal Reports for Eclipse), the axis labels revert to their original values (e.g. appear as "Sum of StateReportsView.District").
Can the axis labels be set before exporting the report via the JRC API?
Or is there some way to save the axis labels to the report using the Crystal Reports XI designer?
    Thank you...

  • X axis labels in Charts

    Hello All,
I am using column charts in my Xcelsius Dashboard (Xcelsius 2008 - SP5). The X-axis labels are too lengthy, it is displaying vertically. The requirement is to display the names horizontally and wrap the text. I cannot use label component as workaround as the names are populated dynamically. Any suggestions are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sowrabha

    Hi,
This is common issue for all our developers, i will suggested you some workaround please try and let me know.
    1. If series values are less in horizontly then try to use bar chart and see whether it suits for you.
    2. Use the range slider to display only first 4 or 3 values, so that you can get the entire text without shrinked, later on they can slide to see all values.
    3. try to apply the below given logic, i haven't dont this. I thought it would be helpful for you.
Handling long Y-Axis Labels in Bar charts in less space...
    Hope it helps!!!

  • IChart x-axis labels

I'm having some issues with the x-axis labels on an iChart.
The data I'm trying to display returns a date column I want to use as the x-axis labels. The data returned looks similar to the following:
MY_DATE | project1 | project2 | project3 .... Where the number of project columns returned can be variable, and the column names change as well based on the project name. The one column always returned in the data is the MY_DATE column.
The issue I'm having is that it doesn't display the custom labels for the x-axis. I specify "MY_DATE" as the "X-Axis Label Columns", yet it completely ignores it. I've verified in the javascript that the MY_DATE column is specified as the label column, but it doesn't use it.
I think I discovered what is making it not work, but I cannot figure out why. I have another identical display template, one has a static set of columns returned. I can then specify the "Value Columns" in the "Data Mapping" template category of the display template, as well as the label column "MY_DATE" under the X-axis label columns. In this case it works, but when I take the Data Mapping "Value Columns" away, the dates disappear from the x-axis.
Does anyone have another way to set custom labels for the x-axis? Or any insight as to why it wouldn't work?

    Austin,
What do you want the user to see initially?  An empty chart?  Please explain the initial state of the chart and how the user interacts with it.
    1.  Is your query time-sensitive?  This means in the SQL Query you have designated a Date Column or used the SD and ED tokens in a filter expression.  If the query is time-sensitive, the date will automatically map as the X-Axis label.  If it is not time-sensitive, in addition to adding the My_Date to the X-Axis Label Colunms, add it to the X-Axis Value Columns.
    2.  I have found that if I return all the columns in the query, then I simply have to do this to make them show upon some event triggered by the user:
// assume user chose these columns
    var valCols = "ProjA,ProjB,ProjC";
    var chartObj = document.AreaChart.getChartObject();
    chartObj.setValueColumns(valCols);
    document.AreaChart.updateChart(true);
    3.  I wrote a small transaction using the same query and display template in the Chart action block configuration.  I created a transaction property for inputting the value columns (a comma-separate list) and linked this transaction property (the source property) to the Chart action's ValueColumns property (the desination property).  I then use a PDF Document action and a PDF Image action, linking the encodedImage property of the Chart to the encodedImage.  When I varied the content of the transaction input property to use differenct columns, the changes showed in the PDF Document.
    Hope this is helpful.
    Kind Regards,
    Diana Hoppe

  • How do i change axis label object type from label to text? (to allow wrapping)

In the example of a barChart, how does one change the LABEL type from "Label" to "Text"?
I am trying to allow for long labels to wrap (ie. multi-line labels), but the default object type of labels is "Label" (which are single-line only).
I have been researching this issue all day, and have enountered a similar situation for changing the Legend component labels where a method override is implemented in a custom itemRenderer.
But I have not been able to figure out how to do this for an Axis label.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    J

Yes, thank you.  I am aware of the AxisRenderer.... but I'm not sure how to implement it to change the label type from "Label" to "Text" to allow for wrapping.
I guess what I'm looking for is a good example....

  • Graph Data does not align with the axis label

    Hi,
The graph data does not align with the axis label when
    datetimeaxis is used.
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/labs/flex3/html/help.html?content=charts_displayingdata_04.html
(in the using parseFunction property example) when you hover on the
line graph the values do not align on the labels. Is this a bug?
Can somebody help me with this.
    Thank you,
    Gautam.

    Hi All
    Thanks for looking into it.
Actually we have just added a field GJAHR (was missing in the extractor) so that it takes data accoring to fiscal yr. Actually we had a issue that the Business area for a particular vendor 'X' and doc no 'Y' was showing incorrectly (similar to that of yr 2008) but it changed this yr and the extractor was still picking Business Area for yr 2008.
So we added GJAHR field so that it takes correct Business Area. we have checked in R/3 Extractor checker and it shows correctly.
But that change has not reflected in BW yet even after replicating datasource.
I hope i have made you all understand the situation.
    Thanks for your help

  • 15 character limit with bar chart axis labels

    Hi,
Does anybody know how to display axis labels that are larger than 15 characters? Is there something that you can do with the CSS to increase the limit?

  • X axis labels for custom group names

I have a report with one group.  That group has a customized group name field, and the group name is a formula.  When I display the group name in the data section of the report, it displays according to the formula.
I now need to chart two pieces of data - Primary # of Sales and Secondary # of Sales - for that group so I can compare the two # of sales.  If I make a chart for the Primary # of Sales, and go to the group tab in the Chart Expert and specify "on change of Group By Value (my grouping), show the sum of the Primary # of Sales", the chart displays as desired, and I see the custom group name (formula) as the X axis label.
But if I go to the Advanced Layout on the Data tab of the Chart expert and specify the Sum of Primary # of Sales AND Sum of Secondary # of Sales in the Show Values section, the X axis label no longer shows the custom group name; it shows the group value.
Any ideas for how to get it to show the custom group name when I chart two fields of data?
    Thanks in advance!
