Back to ...... Business Connector
Hi everyone.
People from my company ask me to develop four interfaces in .... Business Connector.
Problem is as always : don't have any knowledge of Business Connector.
I have some PDF talking about this, but i didn't found a sample of what i have to do.
The scenarios i have to develope are all of the kind : WebService (sync request) ---> BC ---> RFC SAP R3 ---> BC ---> WebService (response).
I have the BC developer connected to the remote server and i am able to develop.
Problem is that i don't know :
- how BC get the info from the webservice
- once is in BC, is in an XML format like in XI
and so on ....
Can anybody help me with this?
Problem for me is that i must have one interface for next wednesday because the rest are very similar.
Many thanks.
Inigo.
Hi Inigo,
I spent 2 years at webMethods (SAP BC is an OEM 4.7 version of the wM IS engine) and did last year a mandate using SAP BC 4.7
SAP BC worked completely different from SAP XI.
In SAP BC, u need to use the flow service language to get and parse the incoming XML file (or stream) and use the loop flow service instruction to go arroung the XML tags.
Good luck and if i can help u, let me know
A+

Problem establishing Business Connector 4.8 and R/3 connection
Hello,
I'm currently running a few SAP Business Connectors 4.7 servers for my company, all connected to SAP R/3 4.7 backend, and everything works fine.
I tried to setup the new BC 4.8, on a fresh Windows 2003 server, the install went fine, but when I try to make a new R/3 connection, with a working and existing RFC user (previously used by the former BC 4.7), I have the following error message :
Error : class com.sap.conn.jco.JCoRuntimeException
Message : Name or password is incorrect. Please re-enter on 192.168.0.4 sysnr 00
Service : sap.admin.server:getInfo
I don't understand because if I unplug the 4.8 server and plug back the 4.7 one with exactly SAME user/password and same R/3 connection properties, it works fine...
I precise I re-typed manually the login/passwords in both BCs to ensure it's not due to a typo error.
I have read that JCO has changed between 4.7 and 4.8 releases. Could it have an impact ? Also do I still need to install a librfc32.dll in my windows/system32 directory ?
Any clues ?
Thanks in advance for your help
P.
Edited by: Patrick TOURNEUR on Jul 21, 2008 6:40 PMHello,
just for your info, the JCo implementation has changed about this login function. BC 4.8 is using JCo 3, 4.7 used JCo 2.
I never understood the whole problem completely, but as you found out by yourself, you are safe if you enter the user/pwd in SAP only uppercase, and also in BC
SAP changed this user/login up/lowcase stuff at some time, which has caused many trouble in projects.

Problem with Business Connector 4.8
Hi Everybody, first of all I would like to clarify that this is a question about SAP BC and NOT XI, but I did not know wherelse to put this message.
I have installed SAP BC 4.8. Created a new RFC map (SAP BC -> SAP) of a FM called Z_PO_GET_LIST.
Then went to Business Connector DEVELOPER and created an output template, XML type, for the output of the service.
When I test the service from the Business Connector SERVER it works perfect, I get as a result the desired XML with the PO Orders in the same format defined in the template.
When I test it from the Internet Explorer putting in the address bar http://localhost:5555/invoke/test/Z_PO_GET_LIST it also works great, and I get the expected XML as result.
The problem is when I try to cosume the service from an external .net application, I create an HTTP Client with all needed information (server, port, baseurl, etc) and when I send a POST to the service I get an XML with the result but NOT in the expected format (with all "value" tags instead of the tags that I defined in the template) but with this format:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
Values version="2.0">
<value name="serverName">IDES_SERVER</value>
<value name="$rfcname">Z_PO_GET_LIST</value>
<record name="ZPO_CABEZALES" javaclass="com.wm.util.Table">
<array name="cols" type="value" depth="1">
<value>CO_DATE</value>
<value>DOC_CAT</value>
<value>CREATED_ON</value>
<value>CREATED_BY</value>
<value>VENDOR</value>
<value>NAME1</value>
<value>CURRENCY</value>
<value>DOC_DATE</value>
<value>TARGET_VAL</value>
</array>
<list name="rows">
<array type="object" depth="1">
<value>1000</value>
<value>F</value>
<value>2002-10-16</value>
<value>GIESEB</value>
<value>0000001000</value>
<value>C.E.B.BERLIN</value>
<value>EUR</value>
<value>2002-10-16</value>
<value>5000.0000</value>
</array>
<array type="object" depth="1">
<value>3000</value>
<value>F</value>
<value>2004-05-04</value>
Does anyone please know how can I get the response from the service in the expected format (using the defined template) just in the same way I get it from the "test service" funtionality in the BC Server?
Any clue or help would be really appreciated and rewarded.
Thanks in advance,
Sebastian.Can you post what your expected XML result looks like ? The values structure is an internal structure of how BC represents that information. What types are you passing back as output variables in your service ? A recordlist ? Is it possible that you forgot to call a service step which converts document to string (so that you get the desired XML) ?

Delta between Business Connector 4.8 and 4.7
This seemed like the most logical place to put my post so here it goes..
We are assessing our options for replacing/upgrading existing Business Connector installations that will shortly be out of support (OSS Note 571530).Whilst researching our options I have come across OSS Note 1094412 which describes a new version of 4.8 becoming available in July 2008.
Information on BC4.8 is virtually non-existent on the web - can anyone provide me with details of the delta between 4.7 and 4.8, licensing structure, hardware requirements, support/maintenance strategy and ease of migration from 4.6/4.7 to 4.8?
As an aside it is very interesting that SAP has chosen to provide BC 4.8, presumably to ensure BC can continue to runs on supported O/S' and Java environments, when SAP XI/PI is being touted as the de facto integrator for companies with a significant SAP presence. Maybe customers are not quite as keen to move on/remove their BC instances as SAP would hope...Hi Daniel,
We have been on this topic for years (some vested interest through product development).
What seems to have happened, from what we can gather, is that Netweaver XI/PI uptake hasn't happened as fast as initially hoped (SAP was looking at an intial end of life of Dec 2004 for BC).
The case is quite simple. BC is free, easy to install and maintain. XI/PI, new product, takes a while to stabilize, much more feature rich, but at the same time more complex and less performing (and did I mention the license cost?).
What we know about BC 4.8 and this is purely based on talking to people and reading about it, we have not seen / tested BC 4.8 ourselves - Mainly a platform upgrade, no significant changes. Most likely free as well (the original contract states that if SAP charges money for BC they have to pay extra to Webmethods / Software AG) accordingly. I would expect to see a few new built-in function and hopefully some hooks into standard SAP monitoring tools.
I think you hit the nail on the head. We have seen customers panic and move to non-Netweaver platforms from BC to be on a supported solution (back when EOL was imminent before 4.8 was released). Why non-Netweaver? Because many customers use non-SAP Integration Products as well and they tend to drift to known solutions instead of trying to manage the risk of migrating to a unfamiliar product.
I would not expect any major changes that would make migration to 4.8 hard. If there would be some major issues then that would signal some significant developments from SAP and that would be a strange thing at this point of the product lifecycle.
End of life for BC 4.8 is in 2012 or thereabouts if I remember correctly, this was part of some note which was released/updated towards the end of last year.
You might want to make some design calls if you continue developing your integration scenarios on BC. The best format to allow for an easy / relatively painfree migration to PI one day is by using BC graphical MAPS where possible, NOT XSL maps as wrongfully indicated in so many previous posts and articles. XSL is the hardest format to migrate to PI even though it might look superficially as a compatible format...

SAP Business Connector & UPS World Ship Software
Hi @all,
I like to implement an interface for data transfer from SAP Backend to UPS World Ship to indicate delivery ticketing.
Now I heared that I can use SAP Business Connector (SAP BC) to realise it. Does anyone of you know how how to configure SAP BC to send/retrieve the data to/from World Ship?
Thank you very much in advance,
StefanHi,
sorry for beeing late with my answer, but here it is
We want to exchange delivery orders.
We like to send delivery data (delivery number, customer name, contact person, adress lines, delivery location, delivery land, phone number, references, ect.) to Worldship during the printing activity.
The data we like to recieve from Wordship is tracking number, date and time of delivery and the name of the subscriber.
Worldship uses ODBC to send data back to SAP.
Kind Regards,

Regards,
Laurent.ok, I think we do not need the save/loadPipeline things, because you can debug the flow without that. I first thought you act as HTTP server, but you issue the client call in the flow itself.
Looking at the logs more carefully, it shows for example:
Copy failed: (Simple) No source data available: to=/returnedStatusCode(0), from=/returnHttp(0)/cXML(0)/Response(0)/Status(0)/@code(0)
But you say have that input:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE cXML SYSTEM "http://xml.cXML.org/schemas/cXML/1.2.011/cXML.dtd">
<cXML version="1.2.011" payloadID="20080825171850716.18637uTQ9ExzheaK+H6b7O9oCAQWPzHA-9355222.8b3632def70da7220004d0b6" timestamp="2008-08-25T17:18:50-CEST">
<Response>
<Status code="500">No cXML document received from sender.</Status>
</Response>
</cXML>
So we see that your mappings assumptions do not match the result structure.
The other problem is that you get a status 500 and do not receive a cXML document, but that might be ok, depending on what parameters you pass to the other HTTP server. At least, you get a meaningful error message back from the server, meaning communication is ok.
I suggest you first correct those "copy failed" issues and then check by single-stepping where exactly the flow fails and check that input again.
By the way, when I feed the above cXML into recordToDocument, it works fine. Did you specify other input parameters besides "node" (e.g. recordName) ? And again, are you on Core Fix 8 ?

Hi Experts!
I need your urgent help regarding Business Connectors. I am starting a Project in BC. So if you can help me out with that.
1. How to convert Idocs to idocs XML and Back to IDOc again.
2. How to convert BAPI to BAPI XML and Back to BAPI again.
3. How to configure Business Connector.
Thanks in advance.

These errors don't stop the business connector from starting up, but the errors are not normal behaviour. When I try to start the business connector through a Windows service then I get the message "Could not start the SAP Business Connector Service on Local Computer. Error 126: The specified module could not be found".
I have a working business connector installation on a Windows 2000 server, and when I checked the error log of that installation I noticed that it had logged the same errors about the 'WmPartners' package. It on the other hand didn't have any problems loading the 'SAP' package.
I tried installing the business connector on two different systems with identical results. Has anybody been able to get the business connector to work on Windows XP?HI,
I have no idea clearly about BC.. but ..

RFC Error while trying to access function module from business connector
Hi,
I am getting the following RFc exceptions in BC server when we invoke the service pub.sap.client:invoke fail as a flow step in Idoc_Status_Add(this service is calling a function module in sap namely ZYBC_IDOC_STATUS_ADD_FROM_BC which Adds status to Idoc (from Business Connector).But no trace of failures are recorded in sap side
except 1: rfc_failure in BC trace files under monitoring.I need to know the root cause of these errors as the same services have run finely later and IDOCs were also processed successfully without any problem.

could anyone throw light on how this kind of error can be resolved and why it occured?
Thanks.What does the RFC trace file and log say? Has there been any dump on the SAP server? Check the logs and transaction st22 in your SAP system to see if the RFC-module has dumped.
My guess is the problem is in the RFC-module, I think you should start looking there.

Flat File Transfer from SAP R/3 4.7 to SAP Business Connector 4.8
Hi Experts,
I have a requirement of transferring a flat file from my R/3 SAP 4.7 Box Application Server to the Business Connector 4.8 Box. I am new to SAP Business Connector and I am not to sure whether FTP works if I use a shell script in SAP R/3. Also, is there any way Business Connector Box can pull the file from R/3 Application Server and store the file in the Business Connector Server.
Any help will be appreciated!!!
Regards,
SubhhrangsuHi,
There are many ways thru which you can pass document to SAP BC:
You can HTTP, FTP, Email document to SAP BC.
SAP BC has predefined services for all of them.
For FTP document to SAP BC:
1 Initiate an FTP session on SAP BC Serveru2019s FTP listening port ( this can be found out from SAP BC administrator or from SAP BC homepage).
2 Point to the directory that contains the service to which you want to pass the XML
document.
Example cd \ns\Purchasing\SubmitOrder
3 Copy the XML document to this directory using the following command:
put XMLDoc.xml
Where XMLDoc.xml is the name of the file that you want to pass to SAP BC Server.
Example put PurchaseOrder.xml
Above code can be written in a batch file and you can schedule it to run at interval of minutes.
You can write java client program as well to upload file and map it to String variable of Flow service of SAP BC.
As Micheal said, you can look at sapbc/Developer/doc folder to look for more options.

Pipeline concept in Business connector
Hi All,
I am working in Business connector 4.7, but I am finding tough to understand the SAP BC pipeline concept of defining java like services in BC.
Basically I do not have experience of Java programming and I work on pure SAP ABAP programming.
Please can any one help if they have some documents on it.
Appreciate your great help.
Thanks in advance.Hi,
A set of services to be performed in a fixed sequence on a message.
A pipeline consists of pipeline elements that are linked to pipeline services
You have to write a java service which takes that particular pipeline
variable and writes to the file. Then in your pub.client.SMTP service you
have to specify that particular file path for attachment.

RFC function callls a SAP Business Connector Flow - only upper case
Hi everybody,
I wrote a function in SE37 which is calling a Flow in SAP Business Connector.
R/3 and SAP BC, both are Non Unicode systems.
The export parameter is TYPE makt-maktx.
The call to SAP BC works fine. Only all the text I can see in the pipeline of SAP BC is upper case.
I checked wether the domain of the makt-maktx allows case sensitive texts.
This is OK.
I have no idea how I can tell SAP BC to receive case sensitive texts.
I checked the forums. Seems nobody had such a problem.
Can somebyody help?
Best regards
Jochen
Hi to all,
it was not the JAVA Version, or a bug or whatelse.
I just ingnored while testing in SE37 that there is
a Flag [X] case sensitive - That's all!
Shame on me!
Greetings Joe

Jochen SeeligerHi Priya
Seeing the messages, it appears that server is down.
"java.net.ConnectException" occurs whenever you try to connect to a system which is not up and running.
