JideoforHere you can do one things, create a form make a text file and two button write code on first button for selection the file and second button write the following code
make a 2nd button
1st button
:CONTROL.file_name     := GET_FILE_NAME(directory_name => '', select_file => FALSE);2nd button
DECLARE
     un                    VARCHAR2(30);
     pw                    VARCHAR2(30);
     db                    VARCHAR2(30);
     con_str          VARCHAR2(100);
     data_file     VARCHAR2(100);
     log_file     VARCHAR2(100);
     cmd_line     VARCHAR2(200);
     ALT NUMBER;
BEGIN
     IF :CONTROL.file_name IS NULL THEN
          IF SHOW_ALERT('FILE_NAME') = ALERT_BUTTON1 THEN
               RAISE FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE;
          END IF;
     END IF;
     un     := GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(USERNAME);
     pw     := GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(PASSWORD);
     db     := GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(CONNECT_STRING);
     con_str     := un||'/'||pw||'@'||db;
     data_file     := :CONTROL.file_name||'\'||un||
                                    TO_CHAR(SYSDATE, 'DDMMYYYY')||'.dmp';---control.fine_name is a location selected by button
     cmd_line     := 'c:\oracle\ora92\bin\exp userid='||con_str||' file='||data_file;
     HOST(cmd_line);
     ALT:=SHOW_ALERT('MULTI_BACKUP');
     IF ALT=ALERT_BUTTON1 THEN
          RAISE FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE;
     ELSE
          EXIT_FORM;
     END IF;

  • Connecting to an Oracle database after clicking on a foi

    Does anyone know how or have any examples on how to connect to an oracle database after clicking on a 'feature of interest' in MapViewer? I want to be able to click on a 'feature of interest' on the map, and have a list of records from an oracle table displayed using the identified key of the foi. I am able to create the feature of interest, and add the event listener for 'mouse click', but am unsure how to connect to the database at this point. I have been able to connect to the database in a different jsp, but not from here. Thank you.

    1. Create a JSP page that does the database query. It should take the foi id as an input parameter.
    2. In the foi mouse click listener, display the JSP page in iframe. The iframe can be placed outside the map or inside the info window. The function should do something like this.
    function myClickListener(point, foi)
    mapview.displayInfoWindow(point, "<iframe id='my_iframe_id' frameborder=0 width=300px height=400px />", 300, 400) ;
    var myIframe = document.getElementById("my_iframe_id") ;
    myIframe.src = "http://myhost/myjsp?key=" + foi.id ;
    }

    Thanks in Advance, Brian

    Thankyou but how do I use it. ie. How do I use the SQL Type constant in the setNull statement.
    I am currently doing the following:
    pstmt.setNull(13,VARCHAR);
    I do I use VARCHAR as a int constant. Can you give me an example.
    Thanks.

  • Oracle Database Mobile Server 11 sync

    Hi,
    I have two simple tables in the back-end oracle database in order to create a meeting-room android application with and embebbed SQLite database on the client devices. I have written all the functionality to register, authenticate, create a new appointent, show it, and delete it and it works fine on my smartphone, but I did all these steps against the local sqlite db.
    Now I would like to share the reserves info with all the clients by synchronization using Oracle Database Mobile Server 11.
    Tables:
    Employees(ID, username, password, firstname, lastname, phone, email)
    Reserves(ID, subject, firstname, lastname, start_date, end_date, meeting_room, alarm)
    I have configured all the publications required (app , item, users, grants...) with the Workbench tool, like i have read from the official documentation and i added the lines to invoke the sync functionality. My problem is that when i launch the first sync the sqlite database in created on the device but the few records on the back-end are not replicated in the sqlite db. ¿is this process automatic or have I to write some code to catch this info?
    Another problem is that the records of the sqlite database is neither replicated to the back-end database. I have to say that th sync process ends succesfully but I can see nothing on the in-queue and out-queue queues in the mobile manager console. So, what´s about this incomind and outcoming data? Th only thing i can see is a set of dirty records, these records are records on the back-end db, but I dont know what means...
    Could you help me please?
    Thank you very much.

    Hi
    Data Subsetting is to restrict the data each Client sees based on values you specify i.e.
    If you only wanted a Client to see data for a specific Dept you could specify the following in the Publication Item
    Select * from emp where DEPTNO = :DEPTNO
    You can define what DEPTNO should be for each Client in the Mobile Server
    So in your case if you want ALL Client to see ALL records for a Publication Item then you should not specify any Data Subsetting i.e.
    Select * from emp - This would retrieve all rows
    There is no specific need to use Sequences in your Application unless you want to. Obviously you must make sure that any new records created on the Client will not conflict with a record created on a different Client otherwise conflicts will occur after the data is synchronized with the server
    With regards to you actual issue can you confirm the following ( NO NOT CHANGE ANY VALUES )
    1. Check the table mobileadmin.applications in the Repository DB and confirm there is a row there for your Application and that the 'Publication' column contains the correct Publication you created in MDW.
    2. Check the Table C$ALL_CLIENT_ITEMS, this should contain one row for each Publication Item you created in MDW i.e.
    Select PUBLICATION_ITEM, DIRTY, CRR From C$ALL_CLIENT_ITEMS Where CLIENTID = '<Your Client Name>';

  • Need to display processing icon on click of submit button

    Hi all,
    I need to display a processing message like "Please wait....Request being processed" whenever the user clicks on submit button.There is a PL/SQL process which inserts data into the database on click of submit button.As this insertion would take time, I need to display a processing message as mentioned earlier.
    My approach was to create a javascript function and call it from the URL redirect section . when this option is selected,the processing message is displayed..but the PL/SQL process is not executed as the URL is redirected...
    Any help would be greatly appreciated....
    Thanks
    nashy

    To some degree, it will depend on just how long you think the process will take to run. If you think it's going to take several minutes (thus risking your page timing out), an approach I have taken is to run a process on submit which kicks off an oracle job (do a search for DBMS_SCHEDULER if this doesn't mean anything to you) thereafter, periodically repoll the page - you could go for a javascript method if you don't want to keep re-submitting the page - which checks to see if the job has completed.
    Once the job completes, you just show the data (or do whatever you need to do to indicate completion to the user).
    It does require a fair bit of conditional display and process control to pull off, but it is achievable.

  • Oracle database back up

    hello!
    i am new bie and am learning oracle database.can you tell me how do i take the data back up .
    Thanks in advance
    shailender

    In a very simple manner, you can shutdown your database and copy all datafiles,control files and log files or you can use Export utility to have an online data export of a user or who~e database.

  • Backing up the Oracle Database

    I am new to WLS and would like to know if there is a correct/safe procedure for
    backing up an Oracle database that is connected to WLS?
    Should WLS be shutdown before the DB is shut down? Or can I safely backup Oracle
    while WLS is running and let the connection pool refresh automatically or by invoking
    RESET_POOL?
    Are connections to Oracle handled by the Oracle shutdown? or are there implications
    with WLS loosing a connection mid-transaction?

    If you need to keep WLS up and running during the backup, you can set the connection pool
    to test the connection on reserve. This way the connection will only be given to the
    client app code if it is good. I'm not sure if the connections to the DB actually get
    corrupted. It depends on the Oracle backup process. Does the backup process kill all
    connections? If so, the 'test conns on reserve' will cure it.

  • Oracle database 11g release 2 installation on windows 7 (64-bit)

    I've downloaded Oracle 11g release2 for the first time on my laptop, but before it, I've worked on MySql database and oracle 10g too but they are uninstalled now. The problem is: it is not going as I saw in the video of installation. On my system, it asks for a proxy server, showing a "connection failed" dialog box. I doubt, the second file I downloaded doesn't get extracted to the same folder. But I am not sure, if this were the problem, it(setup) would have even started or not ? then I clicked on the setup and command line prompt appeared.
    Then it asked to fill in the email address.
    and Now comes the real problem, where it shown "connection failed" dialog box, asking for proxy server, proxy port, proxy username, proxy password. I don't know what values to fill in these columns.
    Here I am copy pasting Log file created while installing Oracle database 11g on my system :

    I've downloaded Oracle 11g release2 for the first time on my laptop, but before it, I've worked on MySql database and oracle 10g too but they are uninstalled now. The problem is: it is not going as I saw in the video of installation.
    I don't see any videos in the official Installation Guide ..Contents
    On my system, it asks for a proxy server, showing a "connection failed" dialog box. I doubt, the second file I downloaded doesn't get extracted to the same folder. But I am not sure, if this were the problem, it(setup) would have even started or not ? then I clicked on the setup and command line prompt appeared.
    Then it asked to fill in the email address.
    and Now comes the real problem, where it shown "connection failed" dialog box, asking for proxy server, proxy port, proxy username, proxy password. I don't know what values to fill in these columns.
    You don't need to give it an email address, and then you don't need to provide proxy server information.  Try the installation without it.

  • Insert data into oracle database using a PHP form

    I'm trying to enter data into my oracle database table using a php form. When I click submit no data is added. Could someone help me please. I'm new to php/oracle thing.
    NOTE: I don't have any problem connecting to the database using php.
    Here is the code I'm using:
    <?php
    // just print form asking for name if none was entered
    if( !isset($query)) {
    echo "<form action=\"$uri\" method=post>\n";
    echo "<p>Enter Name: ";
    echo "<input type=text size=100 maxlength=200 name=data value=\"$data\">\n";
    echo "<br><input type=submit name=submit value=Submit>\n";
    echo "</form>\n";
    exit;
    // insert client's name
    $query = "INSERT INTO client (name) VALUES ($data)";
    // connect to Oracle
    $username = "xxxx";
    $paswd = "yyyyyy";
    $dbstring = "(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)".
    "(HOST=patriot.gmu.edu)(PORT=1521))".
    "(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=COSC)))";
    $db_conn = ocilogon($username, $paswd, $dbstring);
    $stmt = OCIParse($db_conn, $query);
    OCIExecute($stmt, OCI_DEFAULT);
    OCIFreeStatement($stmt);
    OCILogoff($db_conn);
    ?>
    Thanks for your help. I will also appreciate a better was to do it.
    Tony

    resumption and jer,
    Sorry I cannot format the code for easy reading!
    The page is submitting to itself. See action = \"$uri\". I used the same logic to enter SELECT querries into the database. It pulls and displays data back on the webpage. The code I used for this is below. Compare it with the one above for inserting data into the table.
    <?php
    // connect to oracle
    $username = "xxxxx";
         $paswd = "yyyyy";
         $dbstring = "(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)".
              "(HOST=patriot.gmu.edu)(PORT=1521))".
              "(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=COSC)))";
         $db_conn = ocilogon($username, $paswd, $dbstring);
    // username and password will be unset if they weren't passed,
    // or if they were wrong
    if( !isset($query)) {
    // just print form asking for account details
    echo "<form action=\"$uri\" method=post>\n";
    echo "<p>Enter Query: ";
    echo "<input type=text size=100 maxlength=200 name=query value=\"$query\">\n";
    echo "<br><input type=submit name=submit value=Submit>\n";
    echo "</form>\n";
    exit;
    // remove unwanted slashes from the query
    $query = stripslashes($query);
    // run the query
    $stmt = OCIParse($db_conn, $query);
    OCIExecute($stmt, OCI_DEFAULT);
    // Open the HTML table.
    print '<table border="1" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="3">';
    // Read fetched headers.
    print '<tr>';
    for ($i = 1;$i <= ocinumcols($stmt);$i++)
    print '<td class="e">'.ocicolumnname($stmt,$i).'</td>';
    print '</tr>';
    // Read fetched data.
    while (ocifetch($stmt))
    // Print open and close HTML row tags and columns data.
    print '<tr>';
    for ($i = 1;$i <= ocinumcols($stmt);$i++)
    print '<td class="v">'.ociresult($stmt,$i).'</td>';
    print '</tr>';
    // Close the HTML table.
    print '</table>';
    OCIFreeStatement($stmt);
    OCILogoff($db_conn);
    ?>

  • Oracle ESSO: Using Oracle Database as repository.

    Hello.
    I have some problems with deploying Oracle Enterprise Single Sing-On with Oracle Database as repository. First of all I want to know is there some documentation on "how to" or "best practices" for this kind of deploying?
    And here is my problem:
    I have installed Oracle Database 11g Release 2 on Windows Server 2008 R2. Added my domain admin account to External OS Users with DBA role.
    After that I have installed Oracle Client 11g Release 2 and Oracle ESSO-LM Administrative Console (11.1.1.5.1) on Windows 7 machine. Extended Oracle DB schema.
    In DB was added new schema "OPS$<mydomain>\<admin_account>" with 2 tables "SSO_ADMIN" and "SSO_USERS".
    But when I try to connect to this repository using ESSO Administrative Console, I am getting the error "Connection Error. Specified cast is not valid."
    And now I have no idea what should I do with this. Searching on this forum and the internet doesn't give any solutions.
    Does anyone have any thoughts?
    Thank you.

    I'm going to guess that you have a good reason for wanting to use MS-Access as the back-end database, but why use Forms as the front-end? Why not just use Access's UI?
    Now to your question. You can connect to MS-Access using ODBC. Here is a [link to a good discussion|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=3763074] on using ODBC. Hope this helps.

  • Backing up the database and the limitations

    Hello all,
    I tried to follow the steps in the documentation to back up the database;
    On Windows: Click Start, point to Programs, point to Oracle Database 10g Express Edition, and then select Backup Database
    but I dont see Backup Database under Oracle database 10g express, here is what I have there:
    Get Help >
    Get Started
    Go To Database Home Page
    Run SQL Command Line
    Start Database
    Stop Database
    Thats all.
    What I am trying to check is, if I can change the location for backups to avoid the 2 backup limitation. Is it possible to do that?

    Well - this is the area we are having a lot of internal discussions on - so this is not final yet, but feedback would be a good thing.
    Lets say you shut the machine down mid transaction one night while there are still users connected. This would not cause disk corruption, but you had inflight transactions at the time. On restart, the database would automatically roll forward the committed transactions, and automatically rollback uncommited transactions. So your database would be consistent. You would of course lose the transactions that were uncommited. This is what we call instance recovery.
    Lets say you take a backup on Monday, using the techniques we are proposing. On Tuesday the disk crashes and dies. You are not using Raid 5 etc, so you have no disk based mirror of your data. So you go and buy a new disk, add it to the machine, re-install the database software, and then restore from Monday nights backup. This is what we call media recovery.
    Using the techniques we propose for Oracle Database XE, you will lose ALL transactions from the time of the backup (i.e Tuesday) - both committed and uncommited until you complete the restore.
    If you did not want to run the risk of losing transactions in the event of a disk crash, then you should look at one of the licensable versions, which uses a technique called archive logging to allow you to roll forward all transactions since your last (or any given backup).
    Note that for all versions however, backup is online.

  • How to take Input from the callers telephone keypad into oracle database

    My client requires to automate a registration task for his customers by telephone. The requirement is the Oracle database should take numeric input from the callers telephone keypad eg 1 or 2 or 3 and the oracle must store this input inside its database and do some required processing with such input and generate a unique numeric id (sequence) and send back this unique numeric ID to the caller who is on hold. Please Note. Is there any electronic device to be installed at the client site to solve the above task eg. any telephone line to be connected to the CPU and etc?
    I completely have zero knowledge. Please can you outline/summarise the instructions how to construct and install to meet my client requirement.
    If this is not possible in Oracle I Can migrate to any database. Please suggest.
    please help me. if you cant help i appretiate if you give me some clues

    You need to start with your telephone system. Normally this situation would involve some sort of PBX or other internal switching equipment. Talk to your vendor. There's likely to be software, etc. available to perform the interaction with the end user.
    It should have programmable "hooks" to interface with various databases. To Oracle it just looks like another program.

  • Oracle database 11g release 2 installation problem on windows 7 (64-bit)

    First of all my windows is not genuine, but on my friend's desktop oracle download and installation  worked fine, he chose "create and configure database" options, and it works very well on his desktop, though his windows is also illegitimate. In my case, when I select "Create and configure database" option and pressed 'next",
    (Go to my blog to see it with snapshots: Computer Science: Oracle database 11g release 2 installation problem on windows 7 (64-bit))
    it asks to select class, I select "Desktop class" and pressed "next". The moment I pressed "next", the whole setup thing disappeared like it was never started. I searched for all possible reasons for why its not getting installed on my laptop, I used registry cleaner s/w,  deleted 25 GB of data to create free space if it were the problem, increased the virtual memory to increase the space for RAM, I did almost everything to get this setup working, but I found no success with the "Create and Configure database" option
    and
    then
    I chose a "database software only" option and chose to store in a folder w/o spaces. This way, I got database s/w only and then later I found "Database configuration Assistant (DBCA)"  from windows START button and clicked to create and configure database manually. The steps are pretty much interactive and doesn't involve much brainstorming.
    The values I filled for
    1) Global Database Name :  orcl
    2) System Identifier : orcl
    3) I chose common password for both SYS and SYSTEM
    4) while on Enterprise Manager Configuration step, It asked me to create and configure listener in oracle home, so for that too, I typed "netca" in windows START menu and clicked it. There I added a listener.
    5) I chose a Storage area which was the Oracle-home itself i.e. where our installation files goes , in my case it is : C:\oracle_base\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\oradata
    6) Then after few more nitty-gritty clicks, we are set to go !
    Finally to write SQL code and to create your first TABLE , type "sqlplus" in windows "START" menu and click it when it appears. A command-prompt like window appears , which will ask you for username and password, so here they are :
    Username : sys/ as sysdba
    Password : (its the one you created in step 3 stated above )
    After this you are ready to write your first SQL command.

    Is this your solution to your original post at Oracle database 11g release 2 installation on windows 7 (64-bit) ?
    Pl be aware that you should not create any custom objects in SYS or SYSTEM schema - you should create any such objects in a separate custom schema.
