Base table changes

i have a procedure which contains external table with 100 columns..
data from this table is tranferred to temp table..
any errors are caught here and if there are no errors then base table is merged with temp tables data..
my problem is columns get added / removed and even data types are getting changed many times for bas table..
what would be alternative for this???
while inserting i have selected columns from ext table and then inserted coulmn wise in temp table
regards
avinash

I agree with Blu. It makes no sense to hack permanent or base tables like that.
Just how is the existing software (client software, queries, PL/SQL code, etc) to know how to deal with these new columns and data type changes? What about data integrity? Constraints? Foreign keys? Indexes? Etc. Etc.
Relational design is not just a good idea. IT IS THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLE OF RELATIONAL DATABASES.

  • View Customization Table changes and Data  table base changes in a report

    Hi All,
How to view Customization Table changes and DAta  table base changes in a report ,
Is it right transactions: SCU3 or RSVTPROT
Also plz let me know the concept of audit trial,
    Thanks
    SD

    Hi,
Changes to master data objects must be captured for the For compliance purposes. The auditor allows you to be able to view and print an audit log of changes to master data objects for a chosen period. It is very common for external auditors to focus on what has changed from one year or quarter to the next to help determine the nature, extent, and population for testing. To configure and access your audit log, perform the actions listed with each of the following utilities.
Audit Trail is used to track the record changes.
The report RPUAUD00 gives all the changes done to the masterdata by any user anytime.
But, before using this audit trial, please ensure that the system hardware is well equipped as the audit trials activation would later become a performance issue as this would occupy a lot of space in the coming time.
    Best Regards,
    Venkat.

  • Using DAC for implementation of two change capture views on same base table

    Hello
We have a need to create 2 views (V_INS_CLAIM & V1_INS_CLAIM) on a single table (S_INS_CLAIM) using DAC & Image tables.
The V_INS_CLAIM will be used to load ODS on a hourly basis and
The V1_INS_CLAIM will be used to load DataMart on a daily basis.
For this purpose, we propose using the following approach:
    1) Create 2 separate containers - one for ODS and one for Datamart.
    2) Use a separate image table suffix (for the same table) on each container e.g.
    - Use image suffix 51 on S_INS_CLAIM for the ODS container (will result in image tables having suffix 51)
    - Use image suffix 61 on S_INS_CLAIM for the Datamart container (will result in image tables having suffix 61)
    3) In the ODS container, the change capture process would create a view V_INS_CLAIM using
the base table S_INS_CLAIM and the I/R/D tables using image suffix 51
For this folder the 'Drop and Create Change Capture Views Always' flag will be set to True
All views for this container will be created with the prefix "V_"
    4) For the Datamart container, we propose to set the flag 'Drop and Create Change Capture Views Always' to False.
This would ensure that DAC never drops/creates the view (assuming that the view was already created by the ODS container)
For creating the change capture views, we propose to create the views using sql procedures.
All views for this container will be created with the prefix "V1_"
The above procedure would ensure that we have distinct views created for each target (ODS & Datamart), which are refreshed at different intervals.
Alternatively, instead of creating 2 views with different names in the SIEBEL schema,
we could create 2 schemas - one for ODS and the other for Datamart and create the change capture
views separately in each schema (using separate I/R/D image tables - as mentioned above).
Please let me know which of the above 2 approaches would work and supported by DAC and which would be the better option ?
    Thanks

1.) Wrong forum. Go here: Business Intelligence Applications
2.) Soft delete or hard delete? Sound to me like you want to get rid of teh records. I.e. deleting history.
3.) Normal upsert mapping swon't do, you'll need delete mappings (depending on #2)

  • Change an existing base table

Can i change the base table on which a block is based on if the new base table
    has all the same columns?

At runtime you may use set_block_property with query_datasource_name and dml_data_target_name. These work only when the form status is 'NEW'. Therefore you should use these in the when-new-form-instance to set the base table depending on some global var or some parameter passed to the form. Or, to be sure that works, you may use these immediately after a clear_form.

  • Changes through views to base tables

    Dear All
in which conditions oracle allow to update or make changes in base table through simple views not materialized views?

a user can perform all dml transactions on normal views,so that those changes can occur in the associated tables.
simple views i.e.any select statement without any group functions or join of tables is there,we can perform all dml operations on the view.

  • Making mass change to Oracle Apps base table

I have requirement where I have to do a mass updates/inserts to an Oracle Apps table (BOM_Inventory_Components). I have been told by my senior programmers that Oracle does not like direct updates or inserts to the Base tables in Oracle Apps.
Anyone knows of a standard practice of updating/inserting records into Base tables in Oracle Apps?

I have seen and done lot of projects where we do direct table update but we do have Metalink support and we do inform them and involve them into regours conference call and than we are proceding direct table update.
the trick is oracle always as package where you can fine related update procedure so by passing neccesary parameters you can update the table.

  • Changes of a base table PK/unique index

After alter a new column to a base table PK on the server, recreate the snapshot and run MGP the new unique index value did not update table C$ALL_INDEXES in client database conscli.odb. After sync two unique indexes were created for current table in lite.odb, one new and one old that still remains in table C$ALL_INDEXES in the client database conscli.odb.
Please, help me resolve this problem!

Drop and recreate the publication item using the APIs, then reset the metadata. That should fix the issue.

  • ORA-01776: cannot modify more than one base table through a join view

I have created EO based on a database view than consists of two tables, and only one is updateable.
When I try to update a row using EO, I got a following message: "ORA-01776-cannot modify more than one base table through a join view"
In Forms, this issue is resolved by setting "Query Only" property of non-updateable items to "True".
Is it possible to do something like that in ADF BC?
    Thanks

    Thanks for answer.
When I set "updateable" property to "Never", that attribute is protected from any change.
    I'm sorry for incomplete usecase.
I have set up a list of value on that attribute, because it is a lookup field for another table and I need to get an ID from that table.
Basically, I need that attribute to be updateble for BC, but not for database.

  • Assigning a Value to a Base Table BLock Field

    hi,
I have a form in which a block is a base table block . i need to change the value of a field. currently it shows the value of a field from the Table on which the block is based . I need to change the value of that field to display some other value of another table.
i have a written select statement like this
select name into vname from ws_emp where ecode = 101
then i have assigned to this base table field
    :bt_person.ti_v_name := vname;
this i have created in the base table blocks Post query
but it is not assigning value
pls correct me and suggest me if there is any other better method to do this
    Sarav

That SHOULD work in the Post-Query trigger of the block, but doing that is never a good idea. By replacing a base-table field with any value, it causes Forms automatic processing to lock the row immediately, so no other person running your form can call up the same data. And it causes Forms to think you need to update the record, so the record's status is changed to 'CHANGED' from 'QUERY'.
It would be better to create a non-base-table field in the block, and put the name into that field.

  • How to know who has created a particular record in the data base table

    Hi All...
Can any one tell me how to track the information about who has entered the records in to the data base table....
    Thanks in advance...

You could check the Created By and Created On fields if your tables contains these fields.
    OR
You could check the table DBTABLOG if table logging is enabled for the table
    OR
You could check the Change document tables CDHDR and CDPOS.

  • CC&B 2.3.1 - Custom indexes for base tables

    Hi,
We are seeing a couple of statements in the database that could improve its performance with new custom indexes on base tables. Questions are:
    - can we create new indexes on base tables ?
    - is there any recommendations about naming, characteristics and location for this indexes ?
    - is there any additional step to do in CC&B in order to use the index (define metadata or ...) ?
    Thanks.
    Regards.

    Hi,
if it necessary You can crate custom index.
In this situation You should follow naming convention from Database Design Standards:
    Indexes
Index names are composed of the following parts:
    +[X][C/M/T]NNN[P/S]+
+•     X – letter X is used as a leading character of all base index names prior to Version 2.0.0. Now the first character of product owner flag value should be used instead of letter X. For client specific implementation index in Oracle, use CM.+
+•     C/M/T – The second character can be either C or M or T. C is used for control tables (Admin tables). M is for the master tables. T is reserved for the transaction tables.+
+•     NNN – A three-digit number that uniquely identifies the table on which the index is defined.+
+•     P/S/C – P indicates that this index is the primary key index. S is used for indexes other than primary keys. Use C to indicate a client specific implementation index in DB2 implementation.+
    Some examples are:
    +•     XC001P0+
    +•     XT206S1+
    +•     XT206C2+
    +•     CM206S2+
Warning!  Do not use index names in the application as the names can change due to unforeseeable reasons
There is no additional metadata information for indexes in CI_MD* tables - because change of indexes does not influence generated Java code.
    Hope that helps.

    Bartlomiej

    Hi Kishore,
    Two things could have happened:
    1) Since this is happening with only two customers - I am sure it has got to do with some custom code on your system which is causing this problem. I 'd suggest you to create a new order with all the fields
    2) It could be a bug with SAP- might want to check relevant SAP Notes. ( But this could not be a reason, if yes should have had the same prob with all cusotmers)

  • REG: base table/view error

    Hi,
I am trying the execute my interface last week and it was running fine but when i try to execute i am getting the following error. can any one tell me what is the cause.
0 : : org.netezza.util.PSQLException: ERROR: Base table/view 'xxxxx' attr 'MILES_DRIVEN' has changed (precision); rebuild view 'xxxx'
    Thanks,
    GA

    Hi Srinivas...
I restricted the view with following selection condition.
    JEST INACT NE 'X'.
After that i get like that 2 records.
    Example:
    EQUNR ESTAT AEDAT STSMA
    000000001000000798 E0005 25.03.2004 ZE_00002
    000000001000000798 E0007 30.06.2007 ZE_00002
But for that Equip number if i select the OBJNR and check the STATUS in JEST i have only one active record
    050 IE000000001000000798 E0005 001
Actually then in the output u should get only record as said by you since u are getting one status value for objnr .....
Actually in our case for a particular objnr we got 6 status values out of these two status values are inactive... so we are left with 4 active status values we took thee four values and checked in text table and we got four values and in this there is one no display so we finally got three values....for a order...
we need to loop over the particular order and store all the status values into a single field ...
this cant be achieved directly through a view i gueesss we need to go for function module...
i has to implement this and i will gett back to you once it is done.....
    regards

  • Logging of table changes

    Hi All,
We are working on ERP 6.0. Recently Basis team has been asked to activate the table changes logs in Production system. Accordingly we activated the rec/client parameter for Production system client. We are also required to click the log changes tab in the table for which the logs are to be activated. This is to be done through t code SE13. While trying to do so, I have found that our Production system is not allowing to make changes directly as it is configured in non modifiable stage. I have also tried to make changes in devp clinet and then transport it to quality an Production, however it is not working.
Kindly let me know the exact method by which I can activate the tab in the table.
    Thanks,
    Prasad Thakur

    Hello Prasad,
This is strange. It is understandable that the table content changes is not getting recorded in case rec/client (in default profile) is not set along with recclient="XXX" (in transport profile) but  table logging activation not getting reflected in QA is a bit weird.
Are you sure that the transport carried correct contents. Can you list the contents of the transport. It should have an entry related to DD09L.
Is the table showing as activated ? Just try to activate/generate it.
For more info on recording please check OSS notes 1916 and 84052.
    With Regards.

  • Table changes in database are not captured in ODI model level

    Hi All,
Can any one help me how to fix the bug in ODI.
Table changes in database are not captured in ODI model level.
    Thanks in advance

I created the interface which is running successfully.
Now i did some changes in target table(data base level).
I reversed the updated table in model section. Till here its ok
The table which is updated in the model section is not automatically updated in the interface.
I have to drop the existed datastore in the interface and and re do the entire process of bringing the updated datastore, mapping,etc..
Please tell the any alternate way.
