Basic Developer vs. Enterprise

If I were to become a basic developer, can I build in-house apps like what Enterprise does-- mostly pertaining to the internal use aspect of it? Wanting to develop personally, but may take on side projects for organizations looking for in-house. Help?

Yes, but your apps are time-limited based on your distribution profile. Adhoc is really meant for testing. If you need to do true in-house development, get an enterprise license. It isn't much money - probably less than the boss' monthly alcohol budget.

  • How to start developing an Enterprise Service

    Hi everybody.
I'm a student who writes his diploma thesis at the moment.
My aim is to identify different serivce candidates with the aid of a roadmap methodology in my company. After doing a business process analysis and identifying all the IT systems and interfaces to external systems I want to develop a enterprise (web) service (with ABAP/Java) offering some type of masterdata from SAP HCM and deploy it to the Exchagne Infrastructure of my company.
But I don't know how to start. There is too much (poor) information. Until know I did not find concrete howto-guides with examples for "developing a service" (both ABAP and Java), "deploying and testing a service with XI". Could somebody give me some hints?
I have access to the ABAP workbench, XI and the NWDS and have read all the theoretical stuff about SOA and SAP ESOA.
    Thanks in advance,
    Stefan

    Hi Guys,
Please help me on this one, its not an issue but I wanted to know which one supports for my small team.
We are 3 developers and we are going to develope one project in C#.NET and Oracle 11g. Currently the project database in Oracle 11g and pascal, just we are going to migrate the interfaces into C#.net and it uses oracle 11g database. We are not going to do any changes in Oracle database.
    So my question's are
    1) which version is enough my developement of this project either Oracle 11g developer or Enterprise Edition?
    2) Where can i get in cheap?

    1) There is no developer edition in Oracle. If you are 3 developers and will be developing on your own databases, you can buy 3 personal editions(same as enterprise edition) OR you can buy an user based enterprise edition for test environment. I believe minimum you need is 10 user based licenses. Also, if you think that you are not using any enterprise features, you can always go for user based standard edition which will be much cheaper as compare to enterprise.
    2) You can find some Oracle partners who sells the licenses.  Sometime they give you a good discount. I personally do not think Oracle will give you enough discount for these small number of licenses.

  • Basic develop functions have disappeared

The basic develop functions such as changing exposure, contrast, etc have disappeared. If I try to scroll up (where they normally are) I just get the Histogram (see screenshot). What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

It seems to happen much more on the Mac platform, because there's a bug there which means the whole panel is "right-clickable", not just the panel headers. So clicking on sliders, etc., means it's easier to do the inadvertent right-click and deselect a panel. Hopefully it'll be fixed for the next release.

  • Oracle Solutions for development of enterprise application

Can anyone tell me what my options are in the Oracle world for developing an enterprise application, and what would be needed for deployment?

It appears to me that for a Forms application you HAVE to purchase the Enterprise Edition of the Application server because it is the only edition that has the Forms (and Reports) services, which is needed for a Forms application. This is priced at 30,000 per processor.
Whereas, all you need for a J2EE application is the Java Edition of Oracle's Application Server which is 5,000 per processor.
    Is my assessment correct?

  • Basic develop tab has disappeared in Develop module

I'm stuck, I can't process any images as the basic tab has suddenly vanished. Anyone had this and how can I get it back?

If you right-click on any of the other section headers in the develop module (tone curve, etc.) it will present you with a list of all the different sections. Make sure there is a checkmark in the Basic checkbox. It seems that several others have encountered this problem when moving to Lightroom 5. It isn't something I have had trouble with.

  • Basic questions on Enterprise Services

    Hello,
I have a few open questions on the topic for myself and hope that you can help me to answer them:
    1) In my Systemlandscape I have several ECC 6.0 systems and a PI system. Now if I want to use a SAP standard webservice, let's say some of the customer fact sheet webservices.. what would be the procedure?
Would I need to identify which packages the content is in and then download these packages from SAP service marketplace? And has this to be done on PI side or on the backend side? Or both?
If I then want to use one of those standard webservices, e.g. "Find Customer Address Basic Data by Name and Address", where would the service call be directed to? To SAP PI or to the backend system?
    2) If I have a Webservice which should extract mass data, e.g. data about all customers - would this be a feasible web service scenario? Or a web services only used to extract single customers in general? I wonder about things like performance, timeouts, error handling, etc.
    3) Composition
What tool is at the moment used for composing web services? Is it some design tool on PI (BPM?) or is it rather Visual Composer on CE or even WebDynpro (ABAP or Java?)
I hope you can help me to clear up some of these questions.
    Best Regards,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
    Answers to your questions:
Would I need to identify which packages the content is in and then download these packages from SAP service marketplace? And has this to be done on PI side or on the backend side? Or both?
You need to ensure that the content exists on both if you want to use SAP PI  to customize the SAP standard enterprise services & create proxies in the back-end (ECC). You could also just use the standard services as they come shipped from SAP, in that case you just need to ensure that the content exists in ECC.
If I then want to use one of those standard webservices, e.g. "Find Customer Address Basic Data by Name and Address", where would the service call be directed to? To SAP PI or to the backend system?
It depends how you set up your scenario. You could have the web service mediated through SAP PI or another ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) using different technology. In that case, the service call will be directed to SAP (or ESB) & then the back-end. You could also setup a point-to-point scenario where the service call is routed from the consumer straight to the back-end. Ultimately, the call has to reach the ECC back-end to process, what changes is what is put in betwwen the consumer & the ECC back-end.
If I have a Webservice which should extract mass data, e.g. data about all customers - would this be a feasible web service scenario? Or a web services only used to extract single customers in general? I wonder about things like performance, timeouts, error handling, etc.
I wouldn't recommend this kind of scenario when using web services. It would more relevant for maybe batch or asynchronous scenarios, also maybe mediated through SAP PI. All your concerns are valid.
What tool is at the moment used for composing web services? Is it some design tool on PI (BPM?) or is it rather Visual Composer on CE or even WebDynpro (ABAP or Java?)
This question isn't all that clear. For web services 'Composition' you can use the ESR (Enterprise Service Repository) that comes shipped with SAP PI or SAP CE. ccBPM in SAP PI is used for async messaging so that can't work for web services.
For 'Orchestration' of web services, SAP CE would be your preferred tool & you could also use Netweaver BPM that comes with CE to orchestrate several web service calls for a specific business process. This doesn't stop you from using anything else (like Java for example) to do your orchestration but you want the flexibility of being able to change a business process on the fly & SAP CE with BPM provides this.

  • What are the Basic Features of Enterprise Portal

What are the default, given or otherwise features of SAP netweaver/enterprise portal. I do not want to redo a function or feature/template of the feature/basic iview (portlet) already exists. And where I can find/get these features.
    Thanks.

    Hi Joshua,
yes, there is preconfigured content (templates) in the portal.
Have a look at [SAP Help|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/5a/0338f80c0b11d7b84800047582c9f7/frameset.htm].
You'll find two entries in the left hand navigation: "Pre-configured Roles" and "Standard Portal Content".
The information is not that detailed but you might get a first impression.
Besides the standard portal content there are so called Business Packages, which provide pre-configured iViews, pages, worksets and roles for specific business processes / scenarios. You can find them [here in SDN|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/contentportfolio].

  • Can we develop EP(enterprise portals) using sap work bench?

    hi,
i know that we can develop portals using NWDS. But i want to know  can we develop EP using sap work bench or any other transaction.

    Hi Arafat,
I was trying to post few links from SAP Technical website. But, it is not allowing me post that links on here. You can have a look on their website as well. They have got some really good  tutorials on EP and Webdynpro ABAP/JAVA.
Meanwhile, if you have access to SE80 only, then you can only develop Webdynpro ABAP Applications. The step by step procedure to create a WD ABAP Application go through the below links for detailed explanations and step by step procedures.

  • UML Development in Enterprise Pack

    Hello,
I downloaded the Enterprise Pack for Eclipse Indigo and it says it contains a UML tool, but I can't find where to create any diagrams. Anyone have any ideas or can help me?
    - Mike

My recommendation for you would be to split the application into several, smaller applications.  This way, each developer can work on one of these smaller applications with less fear of stepping on another developer.  Each smaller application can encompass a set of transactions so that they are more or less autonomous. Also, as far as logging in is concerned, it's  easy to share a cookie name across this group of applications, so that one a user signs in to any of them, they will be authenticated to all of them.
I realize that it's a bit of work up front, but in the long run, it does makes things easily.  We used to have an internal system that was over 200 pages, all in one applications.  About a year or so ago, we split that into 10 smaller applications.  Not only is it easier to manage development, but it's also a lot easier to manage access, as I can be a little less discreet and make someone a user of the training system without fear of them having access to the marketing system, for instance.

  • Development use -- Enterprise Linux Network Support License

I would like to buy for development (Quantity One) -- Enterprise Linux Network Support License for use on multiple VMware machines or pcs. The intent is to use this single license only on one machine at a time. Will registering multiple times with ULN be a problem? Any advice is appreciated…

    Hi,
You can register multiple times with ULN using single license.
Before registering new machine, you should delete the machine registered.

  • JavaFx Script for Development of Enterprise Desktop Applications?

    Hi,
we are currentlich developing a rather complex business application using Swing. Now the JavaFx stuff seems to get up to speed and we are thinking about changing to build the Gui based on JavaFX.
The enterprise frontend would be a more or less full-screen application, with many masks to enter data into. The backend is a glassfish bean architecture based on WebServices.
Is it now the time to go that way? I dont see any usable design applications to integrate many Swing components - and JavaFx Components seems not existing to support all that listbox, treeviews, keyboard focusing stuff I need here...
I am not very happy about coding all the dialoges per hand as it seems to be the way now...
What do you guys suggest? Skip it for now? Or go the hard way as an early adoptor to find all the bugs and problems we somehow managed to get working already in Swing?
    Regards

    Hi,
I've been trying to write a new desktop application using JavaFX and its pretty tough going with what's available in the API at the moment. The 1.0 release is obviously focused more on RIA, which is perfectly understandable considering the market space they are trying to enter and the fact that if you want to write a desktop application you can always use Swing. I think right now it would be suicide to recommend to your employers that you switch to JavaFX.
The main problem is that JavaFX does not currently have all the standard components you would expect to be able to choose from in order to capture and display data. However, there is always the option of taking whatever Swing component you want to use (e.g. JTree) and wrapping it in the JavaFX SwingComponent class. There are some good examples of how to do that on this wiki page: [http://jfx.wikia.com/wiki/SwingComponents] . But my feeling is, if you're going to build your application out of Swing components wrapped in JavaFX classes then you might as well just write the application in Swing.
I think that right now its too early for JavaFX enterprise desktops but I do believe that one day they will supersede Swing. JavaFX has so much potential. It will eventually be able to do everything Swing can do and then so much more. And I think Sun will have to start focusing on the desktop market quite soon. They are competing with Flex in the RIA space but Flex has good support for data tables etc and I see a lot of projects going with Flex when they might have otherwise gone with Swing.
    Cheers,
    Kevin

  • Development of enterprise applications

    Hello
What are your advises on using model driven  development in developing enterprise applications. LiveCycle  Data Services looks very promising, I have found numerous  tutorials/videos that shows how fast an application can be build by  having methods/functions auto-generated.
What are the best-practices, is it good/bad to use those  auto-generated methods, they can really save a lot of time.
All suggestions are welcome, also if you know some existing  blog/discussion please let me know.
    Thanx

Any generated code is going to follow a specific pattern, and is not a one size fits all solution. Depending on the application, it is important that developers have the ability to customize the generated code to suit their needs. With Data Services, not only can you generate code, you can customize the generated code.
There are a couple of options to customize code:
    1. Modify the template: All generated code is backed by a template (we use Freemarker). You can modify the template to fit your application design pattern. The limitation with this approach is that you cannot add/remove templates.
    2. Plugin to Modeling plugin: Developers can extend the modeling plugin, and hence the code generation capability. With this approach, developers have full control on what gets generated.
Note: You need to have a good understanding of Fiber core and it's APIs to successful control code generation. These API are in Java and provides you a run-time representation of the data model.
Model driven form follows the same pattern. It is unlikely that you like the generated code as is - I would recommending modifying the template (especially the look and feel) to suit your application design.
However with some application all forms may not have the same consistent look and feel. In such cases, the generated code may be a good starting point, but may require context specific customization.
One of the limitations with LCDS code generation today is that we don't support multiple templates in an application. Developers cannot choose a different template for each entity. We may add this capability in the future. However, if this is really important, you can always extend the plugin to offer this functionality.
Hopefully this provides the information you were looking for.
    Thanks,
    -Anil

  • Developer and enterprise license for the same company?

Can a company have a developer license and an entreprise license or is it either/or? I am making this query as we would like to distribute our apps within our company's app store as well as from google play and app store. Thank you for your feedback

You can have both. You would need a separate Apple ID for each one.

  • Developer vs Enterprise Licence

    Hi,
What are the features that differ with Developer & Enterprize licence of Jarockit Mission Control 3.0.2?

    Hello,
Under the legacy BEA license, the developer license was limited to 1 hour of runtime (after which a JVM restart was needed) and the Latency Analysis feature was not included.
This distinction no longer exists since Oracle has a different licensing policy:
    1) License files are not used. Evaluation versions of products are always fully featured. It is your responsibility as a user to ensure that you acquire the appropriate commercial license before you use it in a production setting.
    2) All products are free for development and evaluation.
So I recommend that you download the latest JRockit Mission Control version from Oracle's web site:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/jrockit/index.html
Which is fully featured and free for development & evaluation.
