Basic line graph in CR

Hi All,
I have an xml datasource with many items. For example:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<USRPRES_REPORT>
   <TABLE id="0">
      <VALUE>0</VALUE>
   </TABLE>
   <TABLE id="1">
      <VALUE>3</VALUE>
   </TABLE>
   <TABLE id="2">
      <VALUE>1</VALUE>
   </TABLE>
</USRPRES_REPORT>
I would like to create a basic line graph from these values. The values can be 0-5, so the y axis can be the 0-5 and the x axis shows the actually value from the source. How can i create a graph like this? (as i see the CR alway wants to summarize, and it is my problem)
Thanks for all!!!

  • Engage 2008: Line Graph, can't start 2nd series @ different X value

    Using Xcelsius Engage 2008
    Created line chart w/ 2 series
    2nd series does not start at the same X value as series 1.
    How do I generate the second series so the initial part of my 2nd series line does not show all 0s?
    Thank you
    Nancy Griffin

    Hi Tammy.
    I'm using Xcelsius version: 5.0.0.99 and Build number 12,0,0,121.   I am not sure if S1 is already installed.  If not, where can I get it?
    This is what I'm trying to do:
    1) created a basic line graph with two series
    Series 1 Data has 2 columns
    Series 1 Column 1 includes dates. THis will be the labels for the X axis:
    1/1/07
    1/6/07
    1/12/07
    1/1/08
    1/6/08
    Column 2 includes the line graph data for series 1
    30
    50
    10
    90
    120, etc
    Series 2 column 1 - THis is the same as series 1 since it includes the same labels for the X axis
    Series 2 column 2  includes the data for the 2nd line graph
    HERE's WHERE IT IS DIFFERENT
    I have no data for dates 1/1, 1/6,  1/12/07.   My data starts in
    2008. I don't want the graph to show 0s for the first 3 dates and then jump up to the 2008 data.   Is there a way to make the 2nd line chart start on 1/1/08?
    thank you. Really appreciate your help.

  • Multiple Line Graph

    First off, thanks to kglad for the line graph function I
    started with, it has been a huge help. Now the step I'm trying to
    take is 2 fold.
    First, I'd like to graph more than one line segment on the
    graph. Right now I am graphing functions f1 and f2, but f2
    currently overwrites f1. I want them to coincide so f1 goes from
    x=1 to x=15, f2 goes from x=15 to x=25, f3 goes from x=25 to x=10
    at a different y (these are all curves), and finally f4 goes from
    x=10 to x=1 creating a closed shape. Also, I want the x values and
    the y values to be variable based on the temperature. I'm using
    PV=nRT and n, R, and T are all known. so I have something like
    P=nRT/V where P is y, V is X and the nRT can be calculated for two
    steps of the 4. The other two steps are adiabatic, so Q=0, I don't
    know yet how to fit the lines but i do know that y = a / (x^(5/3))
    is a formula that works, I just need to find the proper a values
    for steps 2 and 4.
    Part two of this issue is that currently the graph is drawing
    as the whole canvas, which is fine for testing until i get the
    multiple line part worked out; however I only want this to be 1/4
    of the viewing area as I have other movie clips and such to put on
    this. A conceptual drawing of what I plan on making can be found
    at:
    http://www.students.bucknell.edu/gbement/Steps.html
    I'm a novice to Actionscript and movie clips, I previously
    did everything with motion tweens and nothing was dynamic. I plan
    on creating the piston and molecule simulation in another movie
    clip, then I can vary the play speed relative to the hot and cold
    temperatures by looping the movieclip and having it play faster for
    a high T and slower for a low T.
    Any help on any of my many issues would be greatly
    appreciated and the user will be recognized for their assistance in
    my research presentation :)

    Hi Arun, thanks again for the help but upon closer inspection
    (along with only a basic knowledge of java and actionscript), I
    think your script would need editing to work for me (editing i'm
    unsure of how to do). What I'm looking for is a graph that will
    create a line based on a function. Much like y=(a*b*c)/x or
    y=(a*b*c)/(x^1.66) The a*b*c would be complicated also, but here's
    what i've thought up on paper that I have to move to script, I hope
    this is useful:
    Step 1: Calculate the a*b*c
    The original function is PV=nRT , nRT being the a*b*c ,
    however the Thot and Tcold terms are input boxes that the user
    types in before hitting the "go" button.
    So I have to do this much:
    tcold = Number(tcold_num.text);
    thot = Number(thot_num.text);
    var n:Number = 1;
    var R:Number = 0.0825;
    var a:Number;
    var b:Number;
    var c:Number;
    var d:Number;
    a = n*R*thot // Step 1 constant
    b = // Step 2 constant (formula to be finished :-/) Looks to
    be a formula using ((b) / (Math.pow(x, 1.666)))
    c = n*R*tcold // Step 3 constant
    d = // Step 4 constant (formula to be finished :-/)
    Then I need to find a way to initialize axis to line the
    graph, I can label the P and V axis using static text boxes later I
    suppose.
    The problem I have with yours that I don't understand is that
    I could add the function into the y part of the addLine() function,
    however it's noted as inity= y1 (requires a number), and the
    function definition has y1:Number.
    Now the issue i'm tackling below is just a newbie's lack of
    understanding (i hope), but the script kglad wrote (snipped below)
    will graph one line, and i can't figure out for the life of me how
    to write this up to graph more than one instance without
    overwritting the previous line. Again, Thanks for the help so far,
    it has helped me find the points where I lacked direction and solid
    ideas before.

  • How do i  create a line graph and scatterplots graph in numbers?

    hi fellow mac users, i am taking a biology class and i have to create a graph, the only problem is i dont know where to begin. I would love your advice and ideas on how to do so.THE OTHER TYPES OF GRAPHS THAT I HAVE TO MAKE IS A LINE GRAPH     SCATTER PLOT    BAR GRAPH   AND    A  PIE CHART.  if yall could help me that would be great. (a list of steps will help me alot)

    HI izzie,
    As well as the link in Wayne's post, you can get the Numbers '09 User Guide through the Help menu in Numbers.
    Besides Chapter 7, which deals with your current question, I would strongly suggest reading at least the first four chapters of the guide for a good grounding in the basics of using Numbers.

  • 2D Line Graph Question

    I have a 2D line graph that I built. At some points in the graph where the lines intersect the number values displayed on the graph get bunched up and it is hard to read. Is there a way to fix that? This is APEX 3.2 on Oracle 10.2.0.4 database. Thanks

    You basically have only a couple of options here:
    First, turn off the labels and possibly turn them into Hints. They wouldn't show on the chart, but when the user held over the data point, a tool tip would appear showing them the valuable.
    Second, adjust elements of the chart. What you are really looking at here is that your data set is causing this specific issue and not the charting engine or anything like that. You could try to manually change the axis max and min to get more spacing, or you could adjust the height of the chart to get more spacing, but this may not be a viable option. You could have one set of labels above the plotted line and another set of labels below the plotted line that way the values do not overlap with anything. However, from a conceptual standpoint, it will be difficult to determine in code which line should have values above and which should have values below. When your data set changes, you may end up with labels in the wrong place if you hard code where they are at.
    The current XML reference can be found at: http://www.anychart.com/products/anychart/docs/xmlReference/index.html however, that is for anychart 5. I'm looking for the link to the earlier versions...
    You can use this to create custom xml where you can adjust the position of the labels.
    Finally, you do not want expand the height of the chart between two points on the Y axis. That would change the structure of the chart and the visual properties of the chart and the shape of the data would be askew. You cannot do this for good reason. You can though use a logrithmic scale. In most cases though, this is not a practical solution. Data sets need to have very specific characteristics in order to be able to merit a logrithmic scale. Most queries require a simple linear scale.

  • Issue with Date Format in line Graph X-AXIS

    Hi all,
    I have a line graph, with data in x-axis and integer values in y-axis.
    I am fetching data in Mon-dd-yyyy format but in graph (x-axis) it showing in yyyy-mm-dd format.
    How to change this format.
    Regards,
    Krishna Prasad

    Hi,
    Basically you are trying to convert a date into date which is not advisable. Hence convert it to char and then equate it against a character value. Also do not use trunc as it will trim out the time part of the date.
    select * from test
               where to_char(dob,'RRRR/MM/DD HH24:MI:SS')=:p1Then pass the parameter

  • Problem Plotting a Line Graph

    I am trying to plot some line graphs on Numbers and am a new user.
    I can't seem to work out an issue. I want the numbers on the X axis to ascend from 0 onwards from left to right but at the moment they are descending from 10 to 0 left to right.
    How can I change this so the graph is plotted logically?
    Thanks in advance

    There are two basic types of X-Y charts.  All but one are "category" charts where the X axis is evenly spaced and the "numbers" are actually text. The data will be presented in the order listed in your table.  The other is a scatter chart. The icon for this chart looks like a shotgun blast.
    If your X axis numbers are evenly spaced (0,1,2,3...) you can use either type of chart.  Sort your table in ascending order and it will chart as you want it to.
    If your X axis numbers are not evenly spaced (such as 1,2,4,5,10) and you want the chart to be a true X-Y plot of the data, you have to use the scatter chart.  In contrast to the category charts where the X axis values must be in a header column/row, a scatter chart requires the X and Y data to be in data cells. You may have to move your data over a column so the X data is not in a header column.

  • Interactive Bar/pie chart and line graph, data from excel/text file -urgent

    Hi,
    I have a huge data in excell sheet which keeps updating every month. Data basically consists of service provider and there respective subscribers from various regions of the country over the years. The requirement is to give the viewers an interactive page where in they can make various combinations and can compare, cross examine data according to thier choice.
    We want the pie chart / bar graph or line graph to be created on the fly according to the combination made by the user.
    The site is hosted on a red hat linux server. how can a connection to the excel spreadsheet be made or is it possible to read from the text file if the entire data is exported to a text file.
    Is there any ready made tool/code available which can be customised according to the need.
    Thanx in advance
    Regards
    Prakash

    I certainly wouldn't pay for the graphing package at the previous link. check out http://www.object-refinery.com/jfreechart/ for a free, open-source, much better looking graphing package.

  • Line Graph repeats the starting data point at the end also

    Hi,
    We have a Line Graph as below. This graph is used to show the Salary changes of a person, over time.
    But this graph shows an additional non existing data point. Basically it shows the starting data point once again at the end of the other data points.
    The model VO for this graph, does not contain this additional data point record. But the graph repeats the starting data point at the end also.
    In the screen-shot you can see that, the graph has three data points. But the table has only two. The first data point in the graph is repeated as the last data point.
    Is this a Bug..?
    Or an issue with the usage of the DVT tags?

    If I understand your question, this from the Pages online help may give the answer:
    To mark line, area, and scatter charts with data point symbols:
    Select the entire chart. You can also select the chart series (the line or area shape) that you want to mark with data point symbols.
    Click Inspector in the toolbar, and then click the Chart Inspector button.
    Click Series (except for scatter charts).
    Choose a symbol from the Data Point Symbol pop-up menu.
    Choose one of the following options from the Symbol Fill pop-up menu:
    To fill the symbol with the same color as its outline, choose Use Stroke Color.
    To fill the symbol with a solid color, choose Color Fill, click the Fill color well, and pick a color.
    To fill the symbol with a gradient, choose Gradient Fill and use the gradient controls to set the colors and change the angle of the gradient.
    To fill the symbol with an image, choose Image Fill and select the image you want. You can also resize the image by choosing an option from the pop-up menu above the Choose button.
    To fill the symbol with a tinted image, choose Tinted Image Fill and select the image you want. Click the color well to the right of the Choose button to change the tint color. You can also resize the image by choosing an option from the pop-up menu above the Choose button.

  • Creating a 3 line graph report

    Need help with creating a 3 line graph  - need to be able to plot 3rd line of data  without displaying a legend and use a dynamic tag label for the line. Thanks

    You can create two graphs with the same horizontal (and if necessary vertical) scale, and make them occupy the same space on the report, one under another.
    On one report, put your 3rd graph line, and remove any visible text, gridlines etc, so you basically just have the axes lines and the graph line.
    On the top report, make the background transparent, so both graphs are visible (Chart Expert->Options->Transparent Background).

  • Drill down from a line graph? Make the entire graph click-able?

    Guys, i can drill down from other types of charts except a line chart.
    Is there anything that is special about the line chart?
    Also, can i make the entire graph click-able? So, instead of clicking on a bar to trigger a linked report, can the whole chart be a link basically?
    Thanks for your help

    There is not special with the line graph..... Just click on the data symbol to drill or navigate. These settings can be found under the "additional Charting Option" button.

    Hello,
    I need your help to draw a cumulative line graph over this bar chart.
    I need your help to draw a cumulative line graph over this bar chart in SSRS.
    The dimension (Category Group) is "Hour" in this case. and expression is sum of two distinct values like 'Y' and 'N' in Activity column(Series Groups). The sum(Activity=Y) in green color and sum(Activity='N') in Red color.
    I require to draw a cumulative line graph in this same chart, that should give the result of cumulative Sum(Activity) for each hour?? I mean sum of (Y+N) for each hour and that should be cumulative over the hour.
    I mean sum of (Y+N) for each hour and that should be cumulative over the hour.

  • Help needed in plotting Line Graph!!!!!!!!!Pls help!!

    Hi, i need help in plotting a simple line graph showing the x&y axis and has to plot 3 different lines in the same graph.I have written a program and i need to implement this graph in it.Is there any tutorial for plotting line graphs,i mean steps included.
    Please help!

    You describe your need, but not where it originates from.
    Is it a programming assignment? If so, I hope this is not your chosen major, as you will fail because you are a non-resourceful plagarist.
    Do you need to simply graph some data? Use an existing package. There are free ones somewhere.
    What do you mean "i have written a program and i need to implement this graph in it"? If you wrote the program, wouldn't you be done?
    Enjoy programming
