Batch Convert PDFs with a twist

I've got a huge number of Numbers 09 files that I need to convert to PDF. I've found a great AppleScript that does this
http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20100206104340866&query=iworkpdfdroplet
but I need a tweak to it.
My Numbers files when printed are 3 8.5x11 sheets. But when I use this script, it becomes one 24.5x11PDF. I only need the first page where the charts live, so, I need an idea for one of the following:
1. An AppleScript that will let me batch crop all the PDFs to 8.5x11 and discard the rest.
2. A way to edit the AppleScript so it prints just page one of the three.
The Numbers file is one where I have a list of students and I'm printing out results for each student. I know that if I put the charts on one sheet and the tables on another things might be easier, but I have to click back and forth to format them and have over a thousand names. So clicking between sheets #1 and #2 will add a lot of time to the process.

The script uses the export to PDF feature of Numbers (the line in the script is "save targetDocument as "LSDocumentTypePDF" in docPathAndName"). Unfortunately it is not setting it to page view in the process but is, instead, using the default of sheet view. You might have to GUI script it similarly to what is done for Keynote. This will still result in all the pages being saved as PDF. If you want want only page 1, you would have to script Printing to PDF where you may have the option to choose printing of page 1 only.

  • Need to batch convert PDF to RTF while maintaining original folder structure

I'm using Acrobat Pro 9 and I need a way to batch convert PDF files to RTF while maintaining the original folder structure.  So for instance, I might get a set of interview transcripts that were conducted with members of 1000 randomly selected households in 3 different cities.  Something like this, where the words in all caps are folder names:
    BOSTON
           HH1001
                PERSON-1A
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
                PERSON-2A
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
           HH1002
                PERSON-1A
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
                PERSON-2A
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
                PERSON-1C
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
    DETROIT
           HH2001
                PERSON-1A
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
                PERSON-2A
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
           HH2002
                PERSON-1A
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
                PERSON-2A
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
                PERSON-1C
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
As u can see, the folder structure can get quite complicated and it's important to keep it the same.  Is there any way I can batch convert without having to open all 1000 files at once (which would crash the computer) or without having to add each subfolder to the Export Multiple Files window?
I also tried saving the original folders and files in a portfolio and then converting the portfolio, but that puts all the converted files in a single folder.

For the output location choose 'Same Folder as Original(s)'
Yes, I've done that many times.  It doesn't put them in the correct folder structure, it just puts all the new files in the highest-level folder.

    HI,
Adobe Acrobat is a special PDF viewer which is technically develop for the whole world to read any PDF file which a user wants to read. It's basic languages are:
    English (US)
    English (UK)
    Arabic
    Italian
    Japanese
    Spanish
    German
But when you going to export the PDF file the arabic language will not support.

LiveCycle Reader Extensions is not a Windows-only product. You may be thinking of LiveCycle Designer, which is indeed Windows-only. Here's a list of supported platforms: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/10.0/supported_platforms.html

How to you batch convert pdfs to single page tiffs?

If you mean that you want a separate TIFF file for each page in the PDF, try using the saveAs JavaScript method in a batch process (Action): http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.524.html

  • How to batch convert pdf to jpgs, crop to trim and save?

I'm trying to figure out how to take a couple of hundred PDFs, Crop them to trim, then convert them all to JPGs using any of the adobe programs.
In bridge I was able to Batch convert all the PDFs to JPGs but it wouldn't crop them to the trim also...
I thought I could use the Photoshop Image Processor to batch action crop and save them again but I always get one of two errors... "There were no source files that could be opened by Photoshop." or "Please Specify a destination folder."
I don't know why this is coming up since I have it selecting the folders with the JPGs that I converted in Bridge and saving to another folder..
Does anyone know if I can do all of this at once? Or how I can somehow get this to work so that II don't have to open, crop and save for each individual file?

Corel's WP has not / does not use anything of Adobe's to create PDFs.
With Acrobat installed you can "file - print" WP files to the Adobe PDF virtual printer that is installed with Acrobat.
Perhaps an OS based "batch" printer job would be possible. Something for you to look into.
As well, if you have WP installed there may be something WP can do.
To learn of such you'd want to visit Corel's WP customer support.
    Be well...

  • How to batch convert PDF forms to XML?

We have a PDF form to monitor project progress. Steakholders fill the form and send to main project office. They get about 20 PDFs like this every day.
End of day,  these PDFs (all in one format) should be read one-by-one and converted to XML.
How do we do it? Which product/DLLs to use?

Thank you so much . . . yes, the answer "staring me in the face".
    Great advice.
After combining the pdf files into a SINGLE document . . . I just selected "SAVE-AS" . . . and selected "jpg" as the format.
Acrobat automatically created 500 individual jpg files.
    Thanks again!

  • How to convert PDF with accented letters that are not Unicode?

    Hello all,
I have a PDF letter that is written in Spanish. When I copy and paste the Spanish word: organización
... it is pasted to Noepad or Word as:
    organizaci
    ´
    on
The word displays properly in the PDF, however I believe it was created originally as a combination of characters and NOT as a unicode character.
Is there some way I can export this to create the proper accented characters?  Is there some specialized converter for this?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

  • Converting PDFs and AIs

Trying to batch convert PDF/AI files. If I run the batch I either force the same action test case "open" name on the batched files, or get a bunch of open files with no action run. Workaround is to open the files in one batch, and process them (on opened files) in another. But what about droplets? Can someone confirm I haven't lost my mind?
I'm just looking to convert a bunch of PDFs to JPG keeping the same names and using an action to process the files. Can't get it to work.
    Thanks - J

If you're on CS4, download and install
    Dr. Brown's Services
2.0.1, it's like the Image Processor on steroids, written by the same author of the more modest Image Processor, Russell Brown. The installation includes
    1-2-3 Process,

  • How can I convert pdf to excel in bulk?

I can only find a way to do this one file at a time, but I have dozens of pdf files that need to be converted, is there an easier way to do this??

    Hi alc136,
It's not possible to batch convert pdf files to excel. You need to do it individually.
It is though possible to batch create pdf from multiple files.

  • Convert PDF Image to Word Doc

I am having trouble converting PDFs with images. The wording shows, but the images show distorted and jumbled. I have also tried turning off the OCR and that only gives me all black pages. The whole point in purchasing this was to convert my PDFs with the images. How can I fix this?

    Hi abitocd,
Do you know how the PDF files were created? The quality of the PDF determines the quality of the conversion, so it could be that the PDFs aren't well-formed, and therefore, won't convert well. Can you please open one of your PDF files in Reader or Acrbat, choose File > Properties, and then note what the PDF Creator is? That may give us some insight into why your PDFs are converting the way that they are.
    Best,
    Sara

  • PDF with XFA forms to excel or word?

I am trying to convert pdfs with XFA forms in them to an excell document but get an error message stating that documents with XFA forms cannot be converted into this format. Any way around this? Any way to remove XFA forms? Im pretty lost.

If you removed the XFA forms there would be nothing left. XFA forms are a complete replacement for normal PDF - a different kind of form, pretending to be a PDF. There's very little you can do with them, except fill them in, or export form data. Maybe print-to-PDF?
Beware if these are official/government forms. Converting them will usually leave them invalid and your application unacceptable.
