Batch extract file resolution from image xmp file

Hi all,<br />I am looking for a batch process that extracts the X & Y pixel dimensions for a bunch of TIFF files.<br />I find the data in the XMP file when I save out the file:<br /><rdf:Description rdf:about=''<br />  xmlns:tiff='http://ns.adobe.com/tiff/1.0/'><br />  <tiff:XResolution>3000000/10000</tiff:XResolution><br />  <tiff:YResolution>3000000/10000</tiff:YResolution><br />  <tiff:ResolutionUnit>2</tiff:ResolutionUnit><br /> </rdf:Description><br /><br />I do not know if I need to start with the XMP file or if I can start with the source TIFF file.<br />Ultimately I would like to save the dimensions to a database.<br />Any help would be great

It looks like every time I capture an image of a vm, a snapshot is taken of each disk and then a vhd object is also created. So can I convert the vhd's to a disk without going through the create-a-vm-from-image process? Going even further, if I just took
snapshots of my vm's, can I turn those snapshots directly into disks?

  • Importing "Corrupt" Libraries/Images/xmp Files Into LR 1

    I've experienced the "corrupt library" problem experienced by so many, in which LR 1 tries to "upgrade" libraries that worked perfectly well in beta 4.1, but then apologizes because they're "corrupt"--and then exits when you hit the OK button to acknowledge the false error report (because OK is the only option you're given). I eventually fired up LR 1 successfully by first moving the existing library out of its subfolder in My Pictures. While that's a start, I do not want to forever lose the crops, tonality adjustments, etc. that I made in LR beta, so what's the next step?
    When I look at my "old" folders in Windows Explorer, I can see the RAW image files and their corresponding .xmp files. If I try to Import one of those old folders into new LR 1, however, I only have the option to select "Supported Files," which do not include those beta-created .xmps. [Aside: Missing is the Select Folder button to automatically import the entire folder. What's up with that downgrade from beta???]
    So, if I Ctrl + a to select the entire contents of an old folder, all my RAW images get imported fine into LR 1, but not the information regarding the prior LR beta edits. Does anyone know a trick for recovering that beta-generated information--which, I assume, resides in the .xmp files, which I'm not given the option of importing into LR 1?
    Hopefully, Adobe won't abandon all of us who helped them beta-test the product.

    I'm also struggling with this frustrating 'corrupt library' syndrome, and I haven't imported anything from the Beta, I created a whole new library in version 1. When prompted to back up I got the dreaded corruption warning. Any bright sparks out there figured out an easy way around this?

  • How can I use Automator to extract specific Data from a text file?

    I have several hundred text files that contain a bunch of information. I only need six values from each file and ideally I need them as columns in an excel file.
    How can I use Automator to extract specific Data from the text files and either create a new text file or excel file with the info? I have looked all over but can't find a solution. If anyone could please help I would be eternally grateful!!! If there is another, better solution than automator, please let me know!
    Example of File Contents:
    Link Time =
    DD/MMM/YYYY

    1 875
    bytes of XDATA   memory (+ 1 855 absolute )

    Hello
    You may try the following AppleScript script. It will ask you to choose a root folder where to start searching for *.map files and then create a CSV file named "out.csv" on desktop which you may import to Excel.
    set f to (choose folder with prompt "Choose the root folder to start searching")'s POSIX path
    if f ends with "/" then set f to f's text 1 thru -2
    do shell script "/usr/bin/perl -CSDA -w <<'EOF' - " & f's quoted form & " > ~/Desktop/out.csv
    use strict;
    use open IN => ':crlf';
    chdir $ARGV[0] or die qq($!);
    local $/ = qq(\\0);

  • My NEF files were replaced with XMP files

    After processing my NEF files in Adobe PE's Camera RAW 6.5, my NEF files were replaced with XMP files.  I checked the Recycle Bin and they are not there.  I did nothing different from the past, using Open Image to move the file into the Editing module of PE.  Is there a natural place they would have gone?

    An alternative aproach would be to import as DNG instead of leaving the RAW files in native Nikon NEF format.  DNG can be saved with any adjustments made in ACR, and does not need the XMP sidecare file.  It is also a good idea to do any file moving from within Bridge so as not to lose track of any sidecar files.  I don't use Lightroom, but would imagine file management is even more important with Lightroom.
    BTW  I am surprised that other than Noel's underlining the fact that you are using Elements, that no one has asked why you are asking in a Photoshop forum.  Not that you aren't welcome Don.

  • How to extract the number from image using java

    Hello every one
    i want to develope a project which can extract the number from image
    that i can use as inter or String or char.
    Is there any API in java which provide this type of facility.
    right now i m using java 5
    thanks in Advance
    Jignesh

    In my project i have a image in that i have a
    co-ordinate (x,y) I am still puzzled as to what you seek. It sounds to me like you have a point (x, y) represented by p. in java it's just p.getX() p.getY()
    i want to convert that cordinate to numeric form,
    i mena i want to use that cordinate in somewhere else
    in project.point.getX() point.getY()
    So need to convert it into numeric form u can called
    it OCR also.OCR is optical character recognition. If I want out and took a picture of the US Declaration of Independence and then wanted the words on the parchement in the picture in text form, then I would run the picture through a software program and it would try to optically recognise what lettering and number were present in the picture. In the end, I would have a text of what is written on the US Declaration of Independence.
    Is that what you want?

  • Oracle UCM - Extract IPTC data from images

    Good Day,
    I'm hoping that someone might be able to point me in the right direction. I'm trying to extract IPTC data from images originating in lightroom and map that data into custom metadata fields on check in. I've installed content categorizer but it doesn't seem to grab the IPTC data. I sure hope someone out there will be able to lend me a hand.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Having '@' and '*' characters in the data will not make any difference if you are using a combined column separator of '|@|' - provided any process you use subsequently can handle it.
    However, the recsepchar parameter appears to be restricted to a single character which is repeated right across the page, so I don't think you could have a single iteration of '|*|' using this method:
    SQL> set  newpage 0 space 0 pagesize 0 feed off head off trimspool on
    SQL> set recsep EACH
    SQL> set recsepchar '*'
    SQL> set colsep '|@|'

  • Extracting specific data from multiple text files to single CSV

    Hello,
    Unfortunately my background is not scripting so I am struggling to piece together a powershell script to achieve the below. Hoping an experienced powershell scripter can provide the answer. Thanks in advance.
    I have a folder containing approx. 2000 label type files that I need to extract certain information from to index a product catalog. Steps to be performed within the script as I see are:
    1. Search folder for *.job file types
    2. Search the files for certain criteria and where matched return into single CSV file
    3. End result should be a single CSV with column headings:
    a) DESCRIPTION
    b) MODEL
    c) BARCODE

    Try:
    # Script to extract data from .job files and report it in CSV

  • Possible to get the color space and resolution from the .eps file

    Hi all,
    We have using the InDesign CS3 5.0.4, windows, javascript.  We need to get the color space and resolution of the graphics (.eps) file using scripting.
    The properties of the image like (actualPpi and effectivePpi will return the value only for the .tiff. and .jpg etc) but it will not return the .eps file resolution values.
    Kindly give me the suggesting for the decrepancies.
    Regards,
    Nagaraj

    ... open them programmatically in PhotoShop, read out resolution and color space ...
    On opening them in Photoshop, it asks you "what resolution shall I use, and what color space shall I apply?"
    A single EPS may contain any number of embedded bitmaps, with any horizontal and vertical resolution, and in any color space. You can use only a few of these with Illustrator -- and even only one at a time with Photoshop --, but other programs allow just about every possible combination.
    Not to mention procedurally generated bitmaps, also possible with PostScript.

  • How to use automator to extract specific text from json txt file

    I'm trying to set up an Automator folder action to extract certain data from json files. I'm pulling metadata from YouTube videos, and I want to extract the Title of the video, the URL for the video, and the date uploaded.
    Sample json data excerpts:
    "upload_date": "20130319"
    "title": "[title of varying length]"
    "webpage_url": "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=[video id]"
    Based on this thread, seems I should be able to have Automator (or any means of using a shell script) find data and extract it into a .txt file, which I can then open as a space delimited file in Excel or Numbers. That answer assumes a static number of digits for the text to be extracted, though. Is there a way Automator can search through the json file and extract the text - however long - after "title" and "webpage_url"?
    json files are all in the same folder, and all end in .info.json.
    Any help greatly appreciated!

    Hello
    You might try the following perl script, which will process every *.json file in current directory and yield out.csv.
    * CSV currently uses space for field separator as you requested. Note that Numbers.app cannot import such CSV file correctly.
    #!/bin/bash
    /usr/bin/perl -CSDA -w <<'EOF' - *.json > out.csv
    use strict;
    use JSON::Syck;
    $JSON::Syck::ImplicitUnicode = 1;
    # json node paths to extract
    my @paths = ('/upload_date', '/title', '/webpage_url');
    for (@ARGV) {
        my $json;
        open(IN, "<", $_) or die "$!";
            local $/;
            $json = <IN>;
        close IN;
        my $data = JSON::Syck::Load($json) or next;
        my @values = map { &json_node_at_path($data, $_) } @paths;
            #   output CSV spec
            #   - field separator = SPACE
            #   - record separator = LF
            #   - every field is quoted
            local $, = qq( );
            local $\ = qq(\n);
            print map { s/"/""/og; q(").$_.q("); } @values;
    sub json_node_at_path ($$) {
        #   $ : (reference) json object
        #   $ : (string) node path
        #   E.g. Given node path = '/abc/0/def', it returns either
        #       $obj->{'abc'}->[0]->{'def'}   if $obj->{'abc'} is ARRAY; or
        #       $obj->{'abc'}->{'0'}->{'def'} if $obj->{'abc'} is HASH.
        my ($obj, $path) = @_;
        my $r = $obj;
        for ( map { /(^.+$)/ } split /\//, $path ) {
            if ( /^[0-9]+$/ && ref($r) eq 'ARRAY' ) {
                $r = $r->[$_];
            else {
                $r = $r->{$_};
        return $r;
    EOF
    For Automator workflow, you may use Run Shell Script action as follows, which will receive json files and yield out_YYYY-MM-DD_HHMMSS.csv on desktop.
    Run Shell Script action
        - Shell = /bin/bash
        - Pass input = as arguments
        - Code = as follows
    #!/bin/bash
    /usr/bin/perl -CSDA -w <<'EOF' - "$@" > ~/Desktop/out_"$(date '+%F_%H%M%S')".csv
    use strict;
    use JSON::Syck;
    $JSON::Syck::ImplicitUnicode = 1;
    # json node paths to extract
    my @paths = ('/upload_date', '/title', '/webpage_url');
    for (@ARGV) {
        my $json;
        open(IN, "<", $_) or die "$!";
            local $/;
            $json = <IN>;
        close IN;
        my $data = JSON::Syck::Load($json) or next;
        my @values = map { &json_node_at_path($data, $_) } @paths;
            #   output CSV spec

            local $, = qq( );
            local $\ = qq(\n);
            print map { s/"/""/og; q(").$_.q("); } @values;
    sub json_node_at_path ($$) {

  • Extract SQL history from 10046 trace files

    Hi all,
    I need to extract the complete sql history from sql trace files to "debug" a client application.
    I know I can read the raw trc file and rebuild the sql history looking for the PARSING / EXEC / FETCH entries.
    However, this is a very long and boring manual task: do you know if there is some free tool to automate this task?
    thanks

  • How can I extract the media from a Pages file?

    Hi, I'm importing photos and videos into my Pages document. When I take that document to my macbook and open it I can see the media in it fine, sice the file contains it all. Now, is there a way to "open" that file and take the video files back out to my new desktop? I right click the Pages file but I get no "Show package content" option ti dig into it.
    Thanks for the help,
    rheex

    Nevermind, I found it.
    +Inspector > Metrics > File Info: > drag the file's icon to the desktop+

  • Running scripts, bat files, etc from a jar file

    Hello,
    Does anyone know of a way, or even if it is possible to run a script or batch file from a jar file?
    For instance, lets say I have a batch file that I can run from the command prompt by typing :
    myBatchFile.bat
    and now I write a very simple java app that will do the same:
    public class Test {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    try {
    Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
    Process p = rt.exec(myBatchFile.bat);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.getMessage();
    The above app will work as long as the batch file is in the current directory, but how or can I make it work if I stick the batch file in a jar file along with the app?
    I tried using the manifest file with no luck.
    I tried creating a URI to the jar file, wrapping it in a File and then passing that File to the exec method also with no luck.
    I searched all the forums on Sun but came up with nothing.
    I performed a google search also with no luck.
    Does anyone have the answer to this? Even if I can get a definitive No it cant be done answer. Although I would think that it should be able to be done.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    you cannot execute anything being inside a jar-file. The OS doesn't know anythig about jar-files and cannot look inside one to find the program/script/batch you want to execute.
    You could do a workaround by extracting the file from the jar-file before calling exec(). But normally OS dependent files should not be inside a jar-file and remain in a own directiory.
