  • HOW TO: Create a JSP Insert Record Form Using BC4J Data Tags

    This is a JDeveloper Tech Note found on the OTN Documentation page. This note describes the use of the BC4J data tags to create insert/submit JSP pages. Here is a link:
    http://technet.oracle.com/docs/products/jdev/technotes/datatag_input/Insert_Form.html

    You can loop throgh query records whit an implicit cursor (which automatically manages the open cursor, fetch and next record):
      for rec in (select intime,outtime,barcode,attend_date from dail_att; )
      loop
           t_in :=rec.intime;
           t_out :=rec.outtime;
           t_code :=rec.barcode;
           t_date := attend_date;
             PUT YOUR CODE HERE ... (if ..then... elsif... logic)
             you can avoid setting variables 'cause you can directly use the implicit cursor variables: rec.intime etc.
      end loop;
    END;Anyway, I suggest you to check the where condition of your block ... because if not all data are retrieved there should be a problem in your query ... so even the cursor (if based on very same query) will return less data than expected.

  • Urgent Pls - Using BC4J Intermedia tags

    Hi,
    I am using BC4J Intermedia tag EmbedImage to display images stored in Databases. When I try to display I get only a blank picture equivalent to the size of the image and not the image itself. The type of the image is JPG. The Image datatype in the database is ORDSYS.ORDIMAGE.
    Is it to do something with the project settings? I am using Oracle 9.0.3 version of JDeveloper.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Priya

    Right, that's because the oracle.ord.html.URLBuilder class builds the URL for the images by using the current JSP directory level.
    For example: if your JSP page that uses <jbo:EmbedImage> is located under http://hostname.com/contextRoot/mydir/. Then the generated URL for the image will be http://hostname.com/contextRoot/mydir/ordDeliverMedia?....
    But in web.xml, the <url-pattern> element defines the url pattern value, which by default is "/ordDeliverMedia". So the media delivery servlet only handles the requests like these: http://hostname.com/contextRoot/ordDeliverMedia?...
    So, in order to make your sample work, you need to modify the web.xml in your project. There are two alternatives:
    1. Change the <url-pattern> element to this:
    <url-pattern>/kerfisumsjon/ordDeliverMedia</url-pattern>
    This will correctly handle the JSPs located under kerfisumsjon.
    Or
    2. Change the <url-pattern> element to this:
    <url-pattern>*ordDeliverMedia</url-pattern>
    This will handle any requests for ordDeliverMedia regardless of their directory location.
    Hope this solves your problem.

    Thank you for your answer.
    Where is the DW validation for me?
    My files are in my computer so I don’t have an external URL.
    File > validation > as xml = closes DW... Maybe because it is not a correct command for HTML,
    And
    Window > results > validation = gives a partial mistakes (e.g. shows an open tag without closing tag, but doesn’t show a closing tag without an open tag).

  • 9i;JSP; BC4J Data Tags...

    Hi,
    What's different between these two tags in BC4J Data Tags pallet:
    <jbo:InputText> & <jbo:InputRender>

    Hello,
    Here is the difference (from the online documentation)
    <jbo: InputText> Inserts a text-input field form element into
    your page.
    JSP Syntax <jbo:InputText
    datasource="datasourceId" dataitem="attributename"
    [ cols=numberCharactersWide ]/>
    Examples
    Order Id:<jbo:InputText datasource="Orders" dataitem="Id" />
    Description The input render converts all values to a String for
    storage in the database.
    <jbo: InputRender>
    Inserts a input form element that allows user to edit data of
    all types, including complex object types.
    JSP Syntax
    <jbo:InputRender
    datasource="datasourceId"
    dataitem="attributename"/>
    Examples
    <form enctype="multipart/form-data"
    NAME="iForm" METHOD="POST"
    ACTION="Submit_AddImage.jsp" >
    Image Id:<jbo:InputRender datasource="ds1" dataitem="Id" />
    Image File:<jbo:InputRender datasource="ds1"
    dataitem="Image" /><input type="submit" /> </form>
    Description
    Input form uses a field render specific to the object type.
    Hope this helps. You can search on the online documentation for
    description about this and other components.

  • Problem with Runtime.exec()

    Hi,
    I'm having a problem with Runtime.exec() . I have a batch file with debug option to FTP the desktop file to mainframe. When I executed this in Windows it's shows me the responce from the server (like ' Transfer Completed' ) for my FTP commands. But when I launch this through java it's only shows the errors not the normal responces from the server. I need this responses to confirm the proper transfer of file.
    My Java Code:
    String strCommand = "cmd.exe /c " + outdirectory + batchfilename;
    boolean bWait = true;
    Runtime r = Runtime.getRuntime();
    Process pr = r.exec(strCommand);
    BufferedInputStream bis =new BufferedInputStream(pr.getInputStream ());
    int c=0;
    /** Outlet for IO for the process **/
    while (c!=-1) {
    c=bis.read();
    /**Now wait for the process to get finished **/
    if(bWait == true){
    pr.waitFor();
    pr.destroy();
    My Batch file is :
    FTP -n -d -s:C:\IT2.cmd > C:\tIT2.log
    EXIT
    Thanks
    Sathiesh

    Ahh, you are redirecting the standard out from the ftp command to a file, therefore no output is sendt back to your java code,
    you have to redirect the stderr stream, not the stdout stream in your batch file;
    FTP -n -d -s:C:\IT2.cmd 2> C:\tIT2.log(notice the "2>" instead of ">")
    Now your batch file should direct the error stream to the log, and the standard output back to the java program.
    (I'm used to UNIX streams, not NT, but the "2>" redirection should work on NT also I guess)

    Hi Leo,
    Thank u for the reply i still have the problem with exec() in servlets.Has i said earlier in my previous mail by using exec() i trying to execute the output of a c-program for eg,Hello.run which provides an output of "HelloWorld" which is a sample eg.The Hello.run is the directory /var/jakarta/webapps/examples/WEB-INF/classes which is also the directory where my servlet program is.Where i am using a tomcat server-4.1.24 on the linux machine 7.3.Which is the server ofcourse.
    Here by using a servlet program i try to exceute the Hello.run c-program and display the output in the browser.This is what i need to do.
    I also used a sample core java class put the exec() there in a method and i try to call the method in the servlet.Which is also not working.
    Here is that example :-
    The core java program:-
    public class UsingExec
    public String ExeDisplay()
         try
    System.out.println("ExeDisplay");
         Runtime rt=Runtime.getRuntime();
         Process p=rt.exec("/var/jakarta/webapps/examples/WEB-INF/classes/Hello.run");
    p.waitFor();
    return "true";
         catch(Exception e)
    return "false";
    public static void main(String args[])
    UsingExec ue=new UsingExec();
    ue.ExeDisplay();
    When i run this program only ExeDisplay at the top is displayed.
    Here is the Servlet program:-
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class ExeServlet extends HttpServlet
    public void doGet(HttpServletRequest req,HttpServletResponse res)throws ServletException,IOException
    try
    res.setContentType("text/html");
    PrintWriter pw=res.getWriter();
    UsingExec ue=new UsingExec();
    String line=ue.ExeDisplay();
    pw.println(line);
    catch (Exception e)
    When i display this program on the browser only "false" is displayed from the UsingExec.java & nothing is displayed.
    Thanx,

  • Struts and BC4J Datasource tag

    Why is the BC4J Datasource tag not supported in a Struts project?

    It isn't a bug in MarlinCore. You just need to set the <form>s method to POST.

  • JSP, BC4J, Row Tag: what is the best way to delete multiple rows?

    Hi all.
    I have a JSP Edit page with three datasources on it. The tables these VO's represent (A, B and C) have a Parent --> Child (1:1 between A and B) relationship and then another Parent --> Child (1:n between B and C) relationship. So the user retrieves one row for Table A, 1 matching row for table B and then between 0 and 6 matching rows for Table C (there cannot be more than 6 because the user can only add these rows from a finite list).
    In my EditSubmit page, I want to perform a RowTag Update action on Tables A and B and they both work no problem. They can't update any rows from Table C but they can add or delete from the list of 0 - 6 rows (the UI is actually a list of 6 checkboxes that they can turn on or off). I figure that the easiest way to handle this rather than keep a list of original values and compare them is simply to delete all existing rows and then add any that the user checked.
    This is causing a problem. I have added a hidden field to the form that picks up the RowKey for each existing row. I can get these RowKeys in the Submit page but cannot find a way of using them with the Delete Row Tag.
    In the end, the only way I could get it to work was the following code (which I stole from the RowTag.java file in jbohtmlsrc.zip):
    if (stakeMailRowKeys != null) {
    for (int counter = 0; counter < stakeMailRowKeys.length; counter++) {
    Key stakeMailKey = new Key(stakeMailRowKeys[counter], stakeMailingRS.getViewObject().getKeyAttributeDefs());
    stakeMailRows = stakeMailingRS.findByKey(stakeMailKey,1);
    stakeMailingRow = stakeMailRows[0];
    // Tell the row to delete itself from the database
    stakeMailingRow.remove();Is there a simpler way to do this (I figure there probably is)? I have another problem with updating the constrained View Objects but I will leave that out of this thread for now.
    TIA,
    Simon

    I don't know if this will help you, but this is what I do:
    I separate the logic into a delete.jsp page. If you can create a View Object that will represent the rows you want to delete and append a where clause to select only the rows you want to delete. Then loop through the view deleting each row. Lets just say you have department and employee tables. and you want to delete employees within a given department. Create a view object that brings back all employees.
    In your delete.jsp find out the department no. by request.getParameter("dept_id");
    then append this to the where clause of your view Object and execute the query:
    vo.setWhereClause(request.getParameter("dept_id");
    vo.executeQuery;
    now loop through and remove the rows:
    while(vo.next){
    vo.getCurrentRow().remove();
    and commit or post changes accordingly.
    There are many ways of doing this action. The easiest way I have found is to create the ViewObjects based on what actions you want to take on them. Make bc4j work for you.

    aaron

    Yes - this was a bug in the first version of the bc4j-oc4j installer. We have a new version of the installer that contains the correct version of orion.jar, and should fix the bug that you found. You can download it from http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/howtos/bc4jdeployment.html
    My apologies - and please let us know if you continue to have problems.

    You seem to be using both the EL and the RT JSTL libs on the same page.
    If you are in a JSP1.2 container, then you can only use EL with the EL tags, and <%= expr %> with the rt tags.
    If you have a JSP2.0 container (eg Tomcat 5) properly configured (ie web.xml is version 2.4) then you should use JSTL1.1, which accepts both sorts of expressions. (${expr} is a runtime expression in JSP2.0)
    Try either
    <c:forEach var='x' items='${lista}'>
    or
    <c_rt:forEach var='x' items='<%= Valores %>'>

    how to set where clause for a view object that is not put in a subselect at runtime ?

    need to set at runtime either:
    where a.para_id = b.para_para_id

    from table1 a, table2 b

    any suggestions

    If you do not want to issue the framework built query, you may want to set the query for a VO yourself instead of setting just the where clause by using setQuery() api. TO revert back to framework built query, call setQuery(null).
    This way, when you need the xtra where-clause and not the "innerSQL stuff", you can build a custom sql with whereclause etc, and call setQuery(), execute that SQL, perform your tricks with the VO and then when the VO is usage is done, reset the VO query to original by calling setQuery(null).
