BCS cash flows

What is the difference between direct and indirect method of cash flow in BCS..
How it is handled and best addressed in BCS.

Ok, Ambadads, your 2b point:
2) Consolidated financial statements(BS, PL etc including Cash Flow Statements):
b. Sequence of preparation: 1st u2013 Balance Sheet, 2nd Income Statement and finally Cash Flow Statements or even Funds Flow Statements (if required)
And what's so convincing in it that answers my arguments and illustration?
Yes, the CF statement is prepared after the B/S & P&L and what?
You didn't answer one of my previous posts where I asked you about # 1 & 2, since it was my impression that you agreed with my/(also Dan?) point of view.
Are you able to argument professionally?
Or
"Let me re-iterate to do the consolidation in BCS or ECCS, one should have strong foundation of concept of consolidation through professional qualifications. One can not do consolidation just by practise or on the job experience."
with a, I would say an arrogant cue, is your best talky answer?
A: Rather than legal, but the basics of consolidation as well as accounting warrants this.
Facts, arguments, links, do you have them?
Q: "...as such no eliminations are warranted including the point C (part 3) of Gokulu2019s question. In other words inter-company LOANS need not be eliminated for cash flow purposes."
Why???
A: It is one of the fundamental principles of consolidation.
Where are the links?
Can you support your opinion?

  • Consolidated Cash Flow (Indirect method) from BCS

    Hi all,
I would like to find out how consolidated cash flow using indirect method be generated from BCS? Anyone has any ideas.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Dan,
Very interesting! Though, I didn't get the answer. Think it would be very favorable for everybody, if you explain in more details.
AFAIK, data is stored in BCS periodically. So, do you imply that it's possible to create cash flow for any set of data in the system (because of periodicity)?
Talk about ttypes and breakdown categories are also not very clear for me.
Anyway, I'd like to talk functional, not SAP (or some other IT) language.
    Here we go.
Did you say that you used to create the cash flow report on the fly, by using some calculations in BEx?
And the same for eliminations in cash flow?
Did you do eliminations in CF?
If yes, then I would suggest that you were lucky, having local and group currency the same, USD?
As BCS consultant knows, the indirect cash flow report consists of 3 parts: net cash flows from operating activities, finance and investing ones.
NCF from operating activities is usually calculated as net profit (before or after taxes) with some corrections that are calculated as differences in reported-beginning balances on some accounts. Would you calculate them in local or group currency? Taking into account that there might be no real movement in cash (local currency), but currency rate has changed?
Financial & investing activities MUST BE PROVIDED in direct sense, like: dividends received, interests paid for credits and loans etc. There is, usually, no such information, only some netted activities. You need to get them additionally. How did you get them?
    So, the main question is:
how would you calculate the CONSOLIDATED INDIRECT cash flow report
having different local currencies (and a different group currency), with some intergroup activities?
Everybody will appreciate your input on this subject.

  • Cash Flow Statement Direct Method

    Hi:
I was asked about how to prepare Cash Flow Statement via direct method. I noticed that in SAP GL, we do have a cash flow - direct method available, but the layout seems not perfectly matching to financial requirements.
So if I want to create a Cash Flow Statement via direct method up to financial management layout requirements, how many approaches that I could have?
(develop drill down report in GL?)
(using liquidity planner and SEM BCS?)
or is there any more efficient approach that you could recommend? Thanks.

    Hello,
Create a form using FSI4 - Refer standard forms available in FSI5 and FSI6.
Create a report by using FSI1 (assign the form that you have created FSI4) - Refer standard reports available in FSI2 and FSI3.
Please make sure that you have completed your Fiscal Year Variant in all respects, before designing your cash flow statement.

  • Cash flow indirect method drill down report

    Hi!
I have developed the report for cash flow indirect method ( FSI6) where i have given the selection parameter as year, but users are asking for from period/year to to period/year.
In FSI3, I am not able to change variable which was already defined as Fiscal year.
    How can change?

  • Cash flow statement report..

How is the consolidated cash flow statements are generated. What are the specific movement types configured for this. Is all MT created and data collected from ECC with MT or it is part of BCS data collection only...
Do we have to create specific group account or group account created for the normal consolidation function will help.
    Appreciate your inputs on this..

    Hi Dan,
Can you please clarify the following :
For indirect method, I typically creat item hierarchy to facilitate cash flow reporting.
Question:  What does this mean..a hierarchy to reflect the cash flow grouping?
For movement types most may originate in ECC as long as the Field Status Group allows this or requires this. These are usually used for assets and the corresponding accumulated depreciation, as well as equity, debt, certain reserves such as allowances for bad debt, etc.
Question: Besides the assets , the MT will be required for all accounts for report purpose in BCS.  How to handle this alone in BCS, if ECC is not going to support the MT for anything other than asset account

  • Balance Sheet * Cash Flow Planning

    Hi
Did any body did the balance sheet and cash flow planning along with cost center planning and integrated with balance sheet in the BCS ? If yes, please provide the information on the approach to create these plans like how the data model should be and what are the various challenges that are encounter ?
Any insight or documentation on the approach is highly appreciated. I know we have delivered cube for Balance sheet and cash flow but there is very little documentation available for that cube.

    Hello Raj,
I have worked on Balance Sheet Planning and relied on BW query for Cash Flow statement using Profit Center Planning. Also we used BCS actuals data in BPS for the purpose of rolling Forecasting.  In this way we had actual Balance Sheet numbers as well as forecasted numbers based on current forecast version in BPS cube.
For the purpose of Balance Sheet calculation (SEM-BPS 3.5 version) standard delivered balance sheet functions were used, such as Cumulative balance, Offset function, Timelag, Depreciation etc.  We are live based on this functionality and things are working as expected.
    I hope this helps.

  • Indirect Cash Flow from Consolidation (EC-CS)

We want to produce consolidating cash flows from SAP and are considering 3rd party solutions as well as inside development.  We have multiple foreign currency entities and must follow U.S. GAAP.
Has anyone used the 3rd party solution from Buehrle at http://www.kapitalflussrechnung.com/en/ or other 3rd party solutions?
Any leads would be appreciated as well as comments on your experience.

    Andrew Koszyk,
We have recently implemented SEM BCS for a global company with more than 100 company code spanning across globe and multiple currency.
We were able to get best reports using Bex analyzer , infact we created a dash board for cash flow ,we were able to get cash flows for various segments, groups, subgroups, and consolidation cash flows.
We created structured reports using Bex and with a combination of  excel work book and simple excel formulae ( not Macros) we were able to get the cash flow reports.
Try implementing  BW and pull the EC CS data to BW and use Bex report to create the consolidtion reports.

  • Report for Cash flow (fund flow from Bank GL)

    Hi Expert,
I would like to have your advice on how can I create this type of report?  Is it better using Fund Management?
My client is asking on cash flow report in which the report should show all fund (cash at bank) movement.  Basically, the report should have 2 main category, which are Cash Inflow / Cash Outflow, for example:
    Cash Inflow
    - Payment received from customer
    - Interest received from FD at Bank
    - Other receipts
    - Government Subsidy Received
    - Government Grant
    Cash Outflow
    - Payment to vendor
    - Finance charge paid to bank (overdraft/loan, etc)
    - Operating Expenses
    - CAPEX
    - Other Payments
For cash inflow, double entries involve to bank GL is as follows:
    DR Bank
CR Item listed in cash inflow section, for example: payment received from customer (or CR csutomer), FD interest received (Revenue item of P/L), etc
For cash outflow, double entries involve to bank GL is as follows:
DR  Item listed in cash outflow section, for example: payment to vendor (or DR vendor), Payment to non-trade vendor (for asset purchase, etc), Interest paid (expense item of P/L), etc
    Questions:
Since my debit or credit leg of my bank account, currently does not have any indicator that can explicitly indicator the nature of my inflow and outflow, how can I produce my report of cash flow show above?
Note: It is extremely heavy for customized ABAP program to extract my bank entry and point back to the opposite leg to find the nature of my inflow/outflow as well.
    Kindly advise.
    Thanks in advance,
    sbmel

    Hi
In ECC 6.0 EhP4 - A new feature has been added inorder to provide such a kind of cash flow report... You need to activate Business Function PSM_FA_CASH..
    Refer this link http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/42/e34f2c31023ee1e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm...
... Under Business Functions in SAP ERP > Enterprise Busn Func > Accounting > Public Sector management > PSM, Cash basis accounting & Cash flow reporting
Once you activate it, you will find additional nodes of IMG under SPRO > Public Sector management.....
This works the same way as Doc Splitting... technically speaking, this new feature is extended arm of Doc Spliting... In Doc Splitting, you assign item Categories to each GL Account.... Similarly, you will assign a "Revenue / Expense Account" to each GL Account.... This R/E Account can be any alpha numeric text.... This R/E account then gets added as a Doc Splittin Char and is populated in every FI Doc that you post
I have tried this in a test client a year ago and was more or less satisified with it barring some exceptions....

  • A/R Down Payment Request and Cash Flow

    Hi All,
is there a way to present down payment requests in standard cash flow reports?
    Thanks in advance,
    Vangelis Kanellopoulos

    Hi Vangelis Kanellopoulos,
Down Payment Request is only a Request.  Therefore, it is not linked to cash flow yet.  If you want the figure to show in cash flow report, you have to make your own user query report.
    Thanks,

  • Cash flow forecast

Can we make forecast cash flow on the basis of due dates of suppliers/vendors and as well as on the basis of open Purchase Orders/Sales Orders.

    Hi Monika
I do not think so. What you see in that window is what you can select. You'll see that other financial reports have a drop down with what type of date....this one does not. What you see is what you get. But if you realy want it i suppose you can always make your own report.
    Hope this

  • A report to view the cash flow from Purchase Orders.

    Hi All,
Could anyone suggest me a report to view the cash flow (financial obligations) which comes from Purchase Orders?
    Thanks
    Gandalf

    Hi,
You will have to activate basic cash management (part of FSCM) and use TCode FF7B (liquidity forecast). What the report would do is, based on the delivery date of the purchase order and the payment terms of the vendor (plus some grace days for clearing the payment as per configuration) determine the date of expected payments and project the cash (and bank) balance by days/week or months.
Alternatively you can write your own ABAP code which will do the same thing.
    a. Take a list of all open POs and determine the delivery date (EKKO and EKPO)
    b. Add the payment terms as per purchase order to the delivery date
    c. Compute the cost of the purchase order item
    d. Display the report which projects expected payments by date

  • Unable to edit cash flow in Interest Rate Instrument

    Hi Experts,
I am facing a strange issue while trying to change Cash Flow in Int. rate instrument.
    Scenario:
I am trying to edit a flow in FTR_Edit and system is allowing me to change most of the flow. Please see below:
But if try to change the very next flow on the same date i.e. 960.93 USD Edit Flow option is NOT coming at all. Please see below
These flow has NOT been posted to accounting still.
Any one has any ides/suggestion why system is behaving like this.
    Cheers !
    Adi

    Hi,
basically changes in the cashflow are exceptional and for circumstances, where you have postings after the flow(s) you want to adjust and you cannot reverse these postings because of closed periods etc. This changes in the cashflow do not change the interest condition(s) itself.
If you have more than 1 interest period and the interest rate of the future periods are not known yet, you should use a Reference Interest Rate (e.g. LIBOR) instead a fix one in the interest condition. Then you are able to use the fixing-functionality (TI10 or TJ05) to get the interest rates into the deal.
Of course you can use fixed interest rate, too - in this case you need 1 interest-condition per period and have then to adjust the interest rate (which initially cannot be 0).

  • How to change Due date in Cash flow (yet to post) lines in a contract.

    Hello All,
I have a requirement where i want to change the due date of cash flow line items of a contract. I am able to do that in RECN transaction, by clicking on the date field and change the date. Here i am looking for a BAPI or function module using which i can update the date of cash flow items. Can anybody help me in doing this.
    Thanks,
    Bala.

    Hi Bala,
we had a similar requirement during the initial implementation project.
We have used BADI_RECD_CASHFLOW for this purpose. We have used both Methods - CHANGE_CASHFLOW_OBJ and CHANGE_CASHFLOW_PAY in such a way (for the last one):
      LOOP AT ct_pay ASSIGNING <ls_cashflow_pa>
                 WHERE ( cfstatus = 'P'              ) AND
                       ( origflowtype IS NOT INITIAL ) .
        IF <<condition>>.
          <ls_cashflow_pa>-dfaell = ....
        ENDIF.
      ENDLOOP.
