Best practice for a site with a lot of images?

I am working on a site that will have over a hundred images
and I wanted to see what is the best practice for designing a site
like this. Should a go with xml(please give examples or
explanation), a text file or just loadMovie("image1project1.jpg",
"bottomsec") with named external images that will stay the same.
Any help is appreciated on staying up to date with this kind of
site.

but I am not sure of the way to create the way to run through
it to find if it is in a section to put it in the menu and then to
call the images and text once they are in a project area. I dont
know if the
this.firstChild.nextSibling.childNodes[0].childNodes[2]
is the best way to call things in the file. Any help is
appreciated. Please let me know what are the best practices and
easiest way to work with a large xml file.

Hi all
I would like to know if there is any document from oracle or from your own regarding best practices for apps integration with third party systems.
For example, in particular, let's say we need customization in a given module(ex:payables) need to provide data to a third party system, consider following:
outbound interface:
1)should third party system should be given with direct access to oracle database to access a particular payments data information table/view to look for data ?
2) should oracle create a file to third party system, so that it can read and do what it need to do?
inbound:
1) should third party should directly login and insert data into tables which holds response data?
2) again, should third party create file and oralce apps will pick up for further processing?
again, there could be lot of company specific scenarios like it has to be real time or not... etc...
How does companies make sure third party systems are not directly dipping into other systems (oracle apps/others), so that it will follow certain integration best practices.
how does enterprise architectute will play a role in this? can we apply SOA standards? should use request/reply using Tibco etc?
Many oracle apps implementations customizations are more or less directly interacting with third party systems by including code to login into respective third party systems and vice versa.
Let me your know if you have done differently and that would help oracle apps community.

Best practice for sharing data with model window

Hi team,
what would the best practice for sharing data with a modal
window be ? I use a modal window to display record details from a
record list, but i am not quite sure how to access the data from
the components in the main application in the modal window.
Any hints would be welcome

Pass a reference to the parent into the modal popup. Then you
can reference anything in the parent scope.
I haven't done this i 2.0 yet so I can't give you code. I'll
post if I do.
Oh, also, you can reference the parent using parentDocument.
So in the popup you could do:
parentDocument.myPublicVariable = "whatever";

Hello, I am writing as I am experiencing some issues with my favorite web browser after updating to Windows 8.1. Here are some details. I updated from Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1 and ever since Firefox has run somewhat strangely. In particular when on sites with a lot of images like Facebook. It is like there is some kind of Flikr effect between the desktop and the images and between the images and the browser (almost like old 16 bit video games flikering). It is not too bad but it is an issue. I have tried resetting firefox and restarting the computer. I haven't tried a repair, and I haven't done an uninstall yet.

Basic Strategy / Best Practices for System Monitoring with Solution Manager

I am very new to SAP and the Basis group at my company. I will be working on a project to identify the best practices of System and Service level monitoring using Solution Manager. I have read a good amount about SAP Solution Manager and the concept of monitoring but need to begin mapping out a monitoring strategy.
We currently utilize the RZ20 transaction and basic CCMS monitors such as watching for update errors, availability, short dumps, etc.. What else should be monitored in order to proactively find possible issues. Are there any best practices you all have found when implimenting Monitoring for new solutions added to the SAP landscape.... what are common things we would want to monitor over say ERP, CRM, SRM, etc?

Best Practices for sharing media with iMovie and FCPX

So I've a large iMovie Events directory, and would like to use that media with both iMovie and FCPX projects.
I'd rather not duplicate the media, so would prefer to import as references into FCPX.
The dilemma is that I see that it's possible to modify or move media from within the iMovie application, and therefore break the reference to that media with FCPX.
I only see two options: (1) Never Ever modify the location/name of media in the iMovie Events file (even from within the iMovie app) since I would break an FCPX link if that media is referenced, or (2) always import (copy) the iMovie events into the FCPX Event Library making an independent original so that I can confidently operate on those media files in either application.
I'd surely rather not have to do (2 )(e.g. doubling my storage demands) to gain the flexibility of using either application to edit the video, but really don't want to live with the restrictions of (1).
Thoughts / Solutions? What might you consider as options or best practices?

Unless there is some other reason, users should own the right to share their mailboxes - it shouldn't be something that demands administrator management (if only so that the administrators aren't swamped by user requests for sharing their mailboxes).
For true shared mailboxes, when the mailbox is created, full access is granted by an administrator.

Best practice for using Muse with Lightroom?

I'm creating a photography website. I use Lightroom to manage my photographs, and I keep the pictures for my site in Collections.
In Muse, I'd like to have ALT text descriptions (or something similar) of each picture, so that search engines can see what's on my site.
Is there a way to embed the descriptions into the image info in Lightroom, and have it export in a way that Muse picks it up?
My problem is this: I've been creating ALT tags in my Muse slideshows (by right clicking on each image and selecting "Edit image properties..."). This works, but I lose my ALT tag if I export the images from Lightroom using any naming convention that doesn't maintain a consistent relationship between image and name. This makes it very difficult to manage my exports from Lightroom, especially if I want to add images or change the order of images.
At the risk of providing too much detail, the reason I rename images on export is this: In Lightroom, my images are named with my client's last name and a sequence number. When I export them for use on my website, I want them to have a different name, primarily to protect my clients' privacy, but also to allow me to organize them easily in my slideshows. So for example Jones-103.dng gets exported as Checkerbox-Wedding-Photography-[nnn].jpg, where [nnn] is a new sequence number.
Can anyone tell me a better way to manage this workflow?

Best-practice for use of object styles to manage image text wrap issues when aiming at both print and EPUB output?

I have a work-flow question about object styles, text-wrap, and preparing a long document with lots of images for dual print/EPUB output in InDesign CC 2014.
I am sort of experienced with InDesign but new to EPUB export. I have hundreds of pages and hundreds of images so I'd like to make my EPUB learning curve, in particular, less painful.
Let me talk you through what I'm planning and you tell me if it's stupid.
It's kind of a storybook-look I'm going for. Single column of text (6" by 9" page) with lots of small-to-medium images on the page (one or two images per page), and the text flowing around, sometimes right, sometimes left. Sometimes around the bounding box, sometimes following the edges of the images. So in each case I'm looking to tweak image size and placement and wrap settings so that the image is as close to the relevant text as possible and the layout isn't all wonky. Lovely print page the goal. Lots of fussy trade-offs and deciding what looks best. Inevitably, this will entail local overrides of paragraph styles. So what I want to do, I guess, is get the images as closely placed as possible, before I do any of that overriding. Then I divide my production line.
1) I set aside the uniformly-styled doc for later EPUB export. (This is wise, right? Start for EPUB export with a doc with pristine styles?)
2) With the EPUB-bound version set aside, I finish preparing the print side, making all my little tweaks. So many pages, so many images. So many little nudges. If I go back and nudge something at the beginning everything shifts a little. It's broken up into lots of separate stories, but still ... there is no way to make this non-tedious. But what is best practice? I'm basically just doing it by hand, eyeballing it and dropping an inline anchor to some close bit of text in case of some storm, i.e. if there's a major text change my image will still be almost where it belongs. Try to get the early bits right so that I don't have to go back and change them and then mess up stuff later. Object styles don't really help me with that. Do they? I haven't found a good use for them at this stage (Obviously if I had to draw a pink line around each image, or whatever, I'd use object styles for that.)
Now let me shift back to EPUB. Clearly I need object styles to prepare for export. I'm planning to make a left float style and a right float style and a couple of others for other cases. And I'm basically going to go through the whole doc selecting each image and styling it in whatever way seems likeliest. At this point I will change the inline anchors to above line or custom, since I'm told EPUB doesn't like the inline ones.
I guess maybe it comes down to this. I realize I have to use object styles for images for EPUB, but for print, manual placement - to make it look just right - and an inline anchor seems best? I sort of feel like if I'm going to bother to use object styles for EPUB I should also use them for print, but maybe that's just not necessary? It feels inefficient to make so many inline anchors and then trade them for a custom thing just for EPUB. But two different outputs means two different workflows. Sometimes you just have to do it twice.
Does this make sense? What am I missing, before I waste dozens of hours doing it wrong?

Bansi, you are trying to compare orange-to-apple. Blue print catalog is a historical retrospection about what people thought about AJAXifying JSF in the past. Currently, the playground has been moved to the jsf-extension project. Look for DynaFaces there.

Best practice for streaming video with quickly (2-5 sec) changing sources

In my flex app I have a videodisplay, which should change its
source every 2-5 seconds to an other clip (and or an other playhead
time). Im trying to reduce the buffering times between the source
changes, so that the resulting video plays without interceptions.
To reduce the buffering times i've tried multiple video instances
which preload its new source while an other instance is playing its
clip.
Are there better ways for doing this? Could SMIL be a
solution?

There are several ways you can do this:
1) If you really want to just reduce buffer times, while
continuing to switch clips manually, you can use the "2-phase
buffering" approach that developers commonly use to reduce startup
times. Just before you switch, set the buffer size to something
very small (0.5 secs is common). This will allow the buffer to fill
rapidly. When you get the buffer full status event, set it to
something more stable, like 2 secs, or 5 secs. Note that there will
always be a small gap in playback with this approach, but that may
be acceptable for your app.
2) Use client-side playlists. You can add your short clips to
the playlist using NetStream.play(reset=false). Each one will play
in turn, with no gap in between. This is a very powerful technique,
but it does require you to know somewhat in advance what clips
needs to be added to the list. If you need to switch immediately,
you'll still end up with a small gap in playback.
3) Flash Player 10, in combination with an upcoming release
of Flash Media Server, will support a feature called "Dynamic
Streaming" that will allow for seamless transitions between clips,
with very little latency. This may not help you out right now, but
be on the lookout for it!

- I have 48 disk with 300GB each and want to make some pool that contains /ctl , /archive , /data , /backup , /redo
- i use software common array manager 6.9
- based on the information I got, when use more than 1 pool, when the data is processed is faster then if only make 1 pool.
Question:
- which/what is the best practise when the data is spread out in several pool? my target is iops < 4ms
- How many pool do I make?
- How many hard drive is set in 1 pool?

Hi,
If you are adding new folders then just add them to the Oracle Business Area. The business area is just a collection of folders. If the business area was changed in an upgrade the new folder would not be deleted.
If you want to add fields to the existing folders/views then you have 2 options. Add the field to the defining base view (these are the views beginning OEBV and OEFV) and then regenerate the business views. This may be overwritten if the view is upgrade but this is unlikely.
Alternatively, copy the view to create a new version and then map the old folder to the new view and refresh. You may need to re-map the folder if the folder is upgraded, but at least you have a single folder used by both Oracle and custom reports.

Noticing a lot of database index fragmentation yet no Health Analyzer alerts...? Best practice for database maintenance in 2013?

Could someone point me to a document for best practices for database maintenance with SharePoint 2013? I have read the 2010 document, but I'm hoping their is an updated one that I'm just missing.
My problem is that our DBA recently noticed that many of our SharePoint databases have high index fragmentation. I have the Health Analyzer rules enabled for index fragmentation and they run daily, but I've never received an alert despite the majority
of our databases having greater than 40% fragmentation and some are even above 95%.
Obviously it has our attention now and we want to get this addressed. My understanding (which I now fear is at best incomplete, more likely just plain wrong) was that a maintenance plan wasn't needed for index fragmentation in 2010/2013 like it was
in 2007.

It depends. Here are the rules for that job:
Sampled mode
Page count >24 and avg fragmentation in percent >5
Or
Page count >8 avg page space used in percent < fill_factor * 0.9 (Fill Factor in SharePoint 2013 varies from 80 to 100 depending on the index, it is important not to adjust index fill factors)
I have seen cases where the indexes are not automatically managed by the rule and require a manual defragmentation with a Full Scan, instead of Sampled. Once the Full Scan defrag completed, the timer job started handling the index fragmentation automatically.
