Best way to collect photos from family members for use in Photoshop Elements Organizer 13?

I am a long time Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements user. My biggest problem in producing my annual Christmas video has been collecting photos and videos from remote family members. Most are exclusively taking photos and videos on their smartphones (but I'll take wheat I can get).
What toolset or service will offer my family members the easiest way for them to securely share those assets with me so that I can ingest them into Element Organizer 13?
I've been told that Adobe now has apps for smartphones to aid in this process, but I have yet to track that down.
I've recommended my family members use dropbox or other comparable services, but it seems to perplex them. More often than not, I wind up receiving them as attachment via email or not at all. I'd LOVE to improve their ease of use and am will to pay to deliver an easy and pleasant experience for them.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

What about Google Drive? And just share the folder with the family members.

  • Best way to keep track of family members, etc

    Hi-
I am a hobby photographer, and have been playing around with the trial version Aperture to replace iPhoto, and I have some questions.
    1. What is the best way to keep track of family members? For example, I like to basically keep track by setting keywords, adding a keyword for each family member & dog. Is this still the way to do it in aperture, or is there a different solution?
    2. If keywords are still the way, what is the fastest way to do this (in particular for multiple files at a time)? The various keyword buttons & shortcuts seem to only apply to one image at a time, whereas the batchchange option seems to only rely on freeform text-- which makes it likely that somewhere along the line I will get a typo.
    Thanks,
    -jamie

You can apply a keyword to multiple images by selecting a group of images and dropping a keyword from the keyword HUD onto one of the selected images.
I created keywords in the keyword HUD for family members, events (Christmas, Birthday, Vacation etc.), and some other things. Keywords you have already typed into an image will be in the keyword HUD already. I created a hierarchy of keywords such as:
    People
    -Family
    --(names)
    -Friends
    --(names)
    Events
    -Holidays
    --Christmas
    --Halloween
Sorry for the dashes to show the indentations. I tried spaces but they didn't work for some reason.

What are the best ways to share photos from iPhoto?

If you use Adobe Photoshop, or even Adobe Photoshop Elements, stay as far away from iPhoto as possible.
iPhoto does not play nice with Adobe software or with software from any other third party developer.
iPhoto will hide your image files in a library paradigm where you have no access to them other than through iPhoto.

What is the best way to transfer photos from old Macbook Pro to new Macbook Pro?

If you only need to transfer photos, connect the two Macs to the same network. Enable file sharing on both, and copy the iPhoto folder from your old Mac to the new one. Put it in your Pictures folder. This assumes you have no photos on your new MacBook Pro you wish to keep. If you do then let me know.
The first time you launch the new version of iPhoto with a Library created by an older version, it will most likely want to "upgrade your iPhoto Library". This is normal.

  • The best way to import photos from Picasa to iPhoto

    Hi,
Many of my friends share their pictures online using picasa. Sometimes, I'd like to copy these pictures to keep a backup offline. As a software, I use iPhoto; not picasa. What is the best way to import pictures from picasa to iPhoto?
I first tried to subscribe to the RSS feed using iPhoto and then copy the pictures from there to my library, but then the dates of the pictures are set wrong: instead of indicating when the picture was shot, it indicates some other date (I guess it indicates the date when the picture was uploaded to picasa).
Then I decided to install the software picasa.app. From the webalbum of my friends, I could download the pictures directly to picasa.app. Then I exported them to the desktop, and from there imported them to iPhoto. The dates where set correctly, but I lost all the titles and comments of the pictures.
Do you have any method to download the pictures while keeping both the dates and the titles correctly?
    Thanx!

There is a direct option in Organizer which lets you import from iPhoto. This is under Import dropdown menu in left panel.
If you are importing from iPhoto'09, your Tags, Albums Events, captions, star rating would also get imported apart from your media. This works differently for iPhoto'011 where you can get only the media to the Organizer,
Just a couple of things to know:
    1. If in iPhoto preferences, you have chosen to create copies of your photos in iPhoto library and your library hence refers to the media store inside the library package, then on importing from iPhoto, Organizer would create copies of all those media under your pictures folder. That means, it would not corrupt your iPhoto package or modify it in any way.
    2. However, if in iPhoto, you are organizing by using references to original location on your Hard drive i.e. you are not creating copies of media in iPhoto library then on importing from iPhoto to Organizer, the Organizer would also use the same references and would not create copies of the media.
    Hope that helps!

  • Best way to collect data from a PDF?

What is the best way to collect 3 pieces of data that can be exported to Excel from a PDF that was created from a webpage?
I thought about using a form, but I would need the form to stay with the PDF. Is it possible to attach a form that would open side by side with my PDF where I can type the data, then somehow export the data into Excel?
Is it better to use insert comments, which looks like they can be exported as well?
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
You could save your data using TDMS as well as ASCII to simply load it in another application later.
Attached VI shows you how to save your data to a File after a certain amount of iterations, you can combine this then with your code and a timestamp.

  • Best way to merge photos from different macs

What is the best way to merge photo libraries from different macs onto one mac?

The only way to merge Libraries - versions, metadata etc - is with the paid ($20) version of iPhoto Library Manager
Other than that you will need to export from one Library to the Finder and then import to the other. This won’t get all the Metadata (for instance, Faces) and won't get the Versions either.

  • What is the best way to aggregate photos from multiple family users into a single iCloud photo library?

My wife and I currently have a iPhone and iPad each.
We share my apple ID account for apps and I also use this as my main icloud account on my devices.
My wifes devices have a different main icloud account.
We also have a iMac with separate users configures, which are tied to our individual icloud accounts.
Now that OSX photos has been released we want to make use of it including icloud photo library.
We take photos. Lots of them.
And we want the photos from all our devices to be aggregated automatically into a single osx photos/iCloud photo library.
1 - because we want a single library which includes all our photos from the last 15 yrs
2 - because we don't want to pay twice for storage
Seems to me there are two options - but I would be happy to hear any others.
    1) The family sharing route
This seems to be the official solution, but it has major limitations.
Set up family sharing. I'll be the organiser since its my apple id thats used for app purchases already
Add my wife to the family
Ah... but now she has to manually share every photo or moment from he device
And it seems that these moments are not incorporated into the photos database in same way as the icloud library account users (me) are
    2) Family iCloud account
I didn't test it yet, but no reason that I can see why it should not work
Create a new icloud account for the family
Make this family account the primary icloud account on all devices (could be a big disruption for icloud enabled apps)
Add our personal apple ids as mail/contact/calendar account
Make a new user on OSX for photos which has the family icloud account configured
No all devices should share the same photo library
    Unfortunately:
We lose bookmark, keychain, etc sync between devices and osx accounts
    We lose imessage (maybe).
We lose the new ios8/yosemite features like handoff
Or worse we get crazy imessage/handoff between all devices from all accounts
    Both methods have major downsides.
Anyone know of a better way?
Why doesnt apple allow multiple separate icloud accounts to be configured and select which features each can use (where some features may have to be unique to a single account). To me this would seem to be the best option...

  • What is the best way to import photos from an Android phone?

Hi. I'm running Adobe Photoshop Lightroom v. 4.3 to edit and organize my photos. So, after having shot a few photos with my camera - a Samsung Galaxy s4 - I will plug my S4 to my PC (USB), open APL, click "import" and start going, as I always do with my DLS. However, on the import page there will appear all sorts of stuff, not only my recently taken photos named Bestfit, Large, and so on, but also quite a lot of photos I could swear I never have taken, some of them looking like screenshots of some sort. Obviously, this isn't how things should be. So my question is, a) how do I get rid of all those pictures that of some reason seemed to already be on my camera, and b) what should I do to see only one version (the best) of those recently taken? Should I start using a third-party program? In case, which?
As this was the case also with my former HTC Desire, I suppose this is may be an Android case, but on the other hand, I guess several of you may have encountered this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ole K

I had the same problem.  To prevent that, I change the import source from the default source that's already selected under "Devices" on the left panel, to the source lower in that same panel, under "Files" where you will see the Windows drive letter that the Android's storage was mounted under, expand that, expand the DCIM folder, and then select Camera.  So mine is typically F:\DCIM\Camera.  If you have a Mac, I have no idea how the import screen presents files vs devices, but I suspect you'll find it there too.
Sometimes I find that Windows takes a little while to list the Files drive letters, even though it already lists the Android under Devices.  If you don't see anything but your computer's normal drive letters, try canceling the import, waiting a few seconds, and then clicking import again.  That usually enough time for it to finish mounting/recognizing.  I think this is a Windows process, not a Lightroom one, as the drive letters aren't fully accessible in Windows Exporer immediately either.

  • For windows users,  best way to transfer photos from old iphone to new iphone

I have a friend who just purchased new iphone and she'd like to transfer photos from old iphone to new iphone.
What is the best steps for her to take?
    She has a Windows machine.
    thanks in advance!!!

Make sure iTunes is loaded on the PC
If all she wants are photos, she has to have the photos on her PC, not just on the old phone.  The old iPhone backup doesn't save the actual photos, just the setting pointing to where the photos came from.
If the photos are on her PC, your should be able to sync them to the new iPhone with the Photos tab in iTunes (after the new phone is plugged in).
If the photos aren't on her computer, she can copy them from whatever computer has them (assuming she has access to it).
