My 60 gig Video iPod broke open some odd weeks ago. I keep just putting it back together while I scrap up the money for a new iPod. But the last time it came open some wires came loose and when I open it up I have no idea what Im looking at.

Regarding sound, it's simply a matter personal preference. My suggestion is to go to the nearest Apple Store and try out a couple. Each of the products at the store have passed an extensive vetting process. The Specialists are willing to work with you and may even open a box or two. Don't be unreasonable and expect to spend a half-day opening all the different models. In other words, don't abuse their willingness to provide stellar customer service.
Better yet, direct your eyballs to the store shelf or the Apple website. That's really all you need to know.

Best replacement Headphones for ipod

My family has seven ipods of different sizes and ages. We are constantly stealing each others' ear buds, losing them and breaking them. Every time I look for replacements, either Apple brand or 3rd party, it seems the reviews regarding quality are spotty at best.

Well, the Bose In-Ear Headphones are pretty good, high-quality, but expensive and don't really help with the Classic's lack of volume.
I have two sets of headphones, both made by Skullcandy (available at Best Buy - at least that's where I got mine). One is their Over-the-Ear Headphones, which have a BASS-Booster built in, and the other is their In-Ear Headphones, which have a volume adjuster on the cord, which does boost the volume just a bit without losing any quality that I can notice.
And you can purchase BOTH sets of the Skullcandy headphones for the price of the highly-rated Bose In-Ear headphones. Personally, if you're looking for a new set of In-Ear Headphones ... I'd go with the ones from Skullcandy.

Where to learn how to repair ipods

Sorry of this is in the wrong place I couldn't find a suitable forum category.
Basically I want to be able to repair Ipods, Iphone and Macs/macbooks etc.. so not just changing a battery or a screen and stuff like that because I can already do all that, actually diagnosing and repairing more complicated problems and then hopefully getting a job in the industry.
So really a training course for apple support I guess.

I think you do, but us mac users would recommend that anyway. However, some of the course is theory (as in any instruction) and you might manage certain parts without. When I was last in the UK (May) I saw a few Macs in 2nd hand shops (lots of iPods too) which I guess may have been a sign of the economy -- such changes since my last home visit (13 years). A used Mac mini would be a good starter machine and would not set you back too much, depending on your circumstances of course.

You can connect an iPod to any sound system. So the best "output device for iPod" is the same as the +best output device, period.+
I'm told you get better sound (for the purpose of feeding into a sound system) if you connect the audio output through the docking connector, instead of from the headphone jack. You get +line level audio out+ like with other audio system components.
You can do so if you have a Docking Station device with a stereo jack, or if you get a cable like this one.

What about when I have the same user name on both old and new computers - and right now the new computer sees/syncs the ipod just fine .... but it seems that on another day it might not allow the sync
If it's syncing okay already, then you have nothing to worry about. Anyways, why would it change? It doesn't decide when to. It either syncs or it doesn't depending on the situations circumstances, in which your case, you have nothing to worry about because it's already syncing without issues.

Best sync setting for iPod

What is the best sync settings for iPod? I have it on manual now, if I select any other sync option, it asks if it's ok to delete everything on my iPod, then copy everything from my iTunes account on the computer. So if this happens every time, to copy one new album takes forever. Also, I noticed in the new iTunes, a playlist doesn't appear to copy over, just the songs, so then I have to go through all the procedures to make a new playlist on my iPod. Am I missing something?

There is no "best way".
Personally, I create a few playlists and select to sync only those playlists (as opposed to the entire library, which won't fit anyway).
Then I simply add/delete from these playlists and sync to change what is on my iDevice.
I find it is much easier to manage with playlists because you don't have to scroll through a big list on the iPod to see what's on it.
Can create smart playlists to show what is NOT on the iPod.

Best Way to backup iPod?

So I'm sending my iPod in for repairs (thank God for Applecare). I just want to know what is the best software (preferebly freeware) for just a complete copy so that I can go and just restore the backup to my new iPod. Thanks ppls!

One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
SharePod is also freeware.
You wouldn't have to do this if you kept your music in iTunes.

Being charged to view a website on my Ipod Touch

I browsing the Internet using my Ipod Touch at my house earlier (we have a router connected to our home computer), and clicked a link and was accidentally directed to a (vulgar) website. I noticed that at the top of the website, where the site name is usually displayed, it said something about "Use Mobile Version of this site $1". I had never seen that before.
Going on the website was a mistake... I didn't mean to land there, and I was on the site for no more than a couple of seconds... Will I be charged a dollar? Do you know of any websites that actually charge to use their mobile versions?
If I am charged $1, will the dollar be added onto my internet bill that I receive? Or would it show up on the credit card bill that I get with my Itunes charges on it?
Normally, I wouldn't be worried about a thing like this, I mean, it's only a dollar... But, I live with my parents, and I don't want them getting a dollar fee on their internet bill because of something pornographic.

If you didn't give them any sort of billing information, it's highly unlikely that they can charge you for using their site. They certainly can't charge you through the iTunes Store - that's totally impossible unless you were tricked into giving them your iTunes Store account information - and it's unlikely that they could bill you through your Internet provider. Most likely it was just a "landing page" for the site that requires someone to provide a credit card to view more of their content beyond that first page.
I can't be 100% certain, but I don't think you have anything to worry about as long as you didn't give them any personal information.

Ok, just stop and think about the question for a minute.
The iPod is powered OFF and he wants to know if there is a way to turn the iPod ON "remotely" which implies he cannot physically push the On/Off switch to the ON position.
Because the iPod must be powered ON for it to be connected to a wireless network, your answer makes no sense at all.
Therefore the answer to the question is NO.
