Better way of calling one class from another?

Hello once again,
I have another question for you all that you may or may not be able to help me with. I am currently implementing a theoretical algorithm in Java and have come up against a (probably very simple) problem.
�     I have a Class (which I will call Class1 for the purpose of explanation) which passes an ArrayList along with a String to another class (Class2).
�     Class2 then performs some �jiggery-pokery� on the ArrayList based on the value of string passed-in and the results are then passed back to Class1 (as an ArrayList ) where the whole process begins again.
�     This loop continues until the ArrayList result in Class2 has < 2 elements and then the process terminates before instantiating Class1 and passing the ArrayList
I am currently doing this by instantiating an object of Class2 in the code of Class1 like so:
Class2 cl2 = new Class2();
cl2.jiggeryPokery(arrrayList, String);Also an object of Class1 in Class2( such that they will continue to loop):
Class1 cl1 = new Class1();
cl1.class1method(arrayList);I don�t have any problem with this code functioning (it does what it is supposed to do) but it doesn�t read or look like the most sensible way to do this.
Is there a less messy way (read: more OO) to do this? Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question to some of you but I�m fairly new to coding and Java � and we all have to learn somewhere!

It sounds like you're trying to write a recursive function without having to use two classes (?). Something like this:
public void jiggeryPokery(ArrayList al, String s){
// first check the size of the ArrayList
if(al.size() >= 2){
// do something to the ArrayList & String to modify its contents
jiggeryPoker(al, s);
else{
System.out.println("My ArrayList now has " + String.valueOf(al.size()) + " elements");
}
