create a variable of single value with "No ready for input" and "Mandatory"
Procedure of Exit:
1: Tcode -> cmod
2: Select the Project for Varaiables -> Components --> change
3: select EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001
4: select ZXRSRU01
5:
WHEN '<Var Name>'.
 IF i_step = '1'.
 l_s_range-low = <default value>.
 l_s_range-sign = 'I'.
 l_s_range-opt = 'EQ'.
 APPEND l_s_range TO e_t_range.
 ENDIF.

I dont remember of any standard variable but still you can wait to see if any1 comes up with one.
Or else you can try the foll:
Create the variable as per your requirement.
Then in CMOD, write a simple code for i_step = 1.
logic can be l_t_range-low = sy-datum - 1.

i want to set a variable with default value and can be changed by the user, so i new a variable with setting : customer exit, single value, optional, ready for input.
in my customer exit code, i set a default value, eg. 20070530
when the variable screen popup, it display the default value 20070530, i changed it to 20070529, but it doesn't work , it still display the data in 20070530, how can i solve this problem?

As mentioned by Anil, you need to restrict your customerr Exit code to I_STEP = 1.
or.
Open your Variable in change mode, in the Last Page os the Variable Maintenance you can provide default value. Note: you are doing same thing in Customer Exit. In your case no need of Customer Exit.

Problem executing BEx query Hierarchy variable with default value

My query has hierarchy variable on 0MOVETYPE char with a default value . The 0MOVETYPE variabale restriction is in Static filter area.
I got timeout on query execution not because of amount of data but because of this hier. variable. Any ideas why?
Notes:
a) The hierarchy and the 0MOVETYPE characteristic are active and correct.
b) I've tried RSRT check, but got the same timeout error.
c) query executes fine on dev environment. I'm getting timeouts on PRD (as I say not because of amont of data)

1. Try generating the report in RSRT and see if query runs correctly
2. Looks like you are dafulating onto top node which contains whole data may be. This is not correct as it will definitely slow down the report based on amount of data it contains. Try to remove default and try first whether query is opening.
3. You can put some lower level defualt to understand whether amount of data is the issue.
4. Try to increase the server time out setting and see if it runs.

Using select list as default value in tabular form.

I am using Application Express 4.1.0.00.32. I have two questions that are related.
I have a Select item *'P1_SELECT'* and a tabular form My Items.
Question 1. The My Items tabular form col1 Attributes are set Display As Text Field, and the Tabular Form Attributes are set Default Type = item(application or page item name), Default = P1_SELECT. I have checked the session state value is set on P1_SELECT ie. Fred. What I need to know is, why, when adding a row to the tabular form My Items does col1 not display 'Fred' as the default value from the select item P1_SELECT? I can change col1 of the Tabular form to be Display as Text (save state) and this will work. However that leads me on to:
Question 2. After adding say 3 rows to the form, I then change the select P1_SELECT value to Bob and Bob is now set in session state on the P1_SELECT item, but when I again add row to the form the value Fred is still the value not Bob. It seems that the tabular form keeps the default value as Fred and not Bob. How can I get this to look or work like:

Fred
Bob

NOTE: I am just a novice's novice with APEX and I had much agony with Select Lists. It was challenging to have the Select List value displayed because there seem to be so many different sources of the Select List value, namely:
1) the current value in the session state
2) the value you can specify in "Source value or expression" in the "Source" section of the Select List item
3) the value you can specify in the "Post Calculation Compution" in the "Source" section of the Select List item
4) the value you can specify in the "Default value" of the "Default" section of the Select List item
[Now, if I've misdescribed any of these, remember, this is from a novice's perspective.]
It's like putting a clock (back) together. Get any of the pieces wrong and it will probably not work right.
I had an addiitonal challenge in that I wanted the same Select List displayed on multiple pages and for the currently selected value (from the former page) to already be set on the new page when it was displayed. What fun!

Remember, I'm doing many things you will likely not need to do. I iniitalized the Select List for the first time it displayed. I copied the Select List value from old page to new page by storing it in an application item F217_SYS_NIC_NM.

You don't have submit the page for just setting one item's session state. you can use a Dynamic Action OR use Page Items to Submit property if available (this is available in various places such as sql region,chart region etc)
In context to this question you don't have to do any of those..just see my example above

By default, selection optoins are RANGES, therefore to fill these before display, in the INITIALIZATION section
CLEAR: so_field, so_field[].
so_field = 'IEQvalue'. append so_field.
so_field = 'IEQvalue2'. append so_field.
so_field = 'IEQvalue3'. append so_field.
If you want ranges
CLEAR: so_field, so_field[].
so_field = 'IBT'. so_field-low = 'lowvalue'. so_field-high = 'highvalue' append so_field.

Here is the design for your scenario:
List1 for subject name
List2 for student and subject (just as your temp table)
Then you could create cascading drop-down in InfoPath form.

Custom Shared Variable: Setting default values

Is there any way to set default value to a custom shared variable (2D Array of Strings) hosted in cFP-2220 target.
Problem: Reading a custom shared variable after rebooting the target, doesn't contains the recently updated values.

To me the one way it is possible is to log the details to a file and upon launch read the file.

Forms: sql with bind variable as default value to form field?

I am using a form as a way to show details of already entered rows in a table. A report passes an id parameter to the form to get it to show the right data. No insert or update is possible. (I am using a form rather than a report because I need to display BLOBs, something reports can't do.)
I need to execute sql statements based on the passed id to fill certain fields in the form with data from other tables. For example: The table the form is based on includes a category_id, whereas I want to display the category name which resides in another table.
How would I best achieve this?

You do this in the additional plsql code section of the form by getting the value of the category_id from the session variables and then getting its name from the cateogory table and assigning it to the category name column.

Selection screen variant default value

I have a hidden parameter defined of type sy-slset to store the current selected variant. Now how do i make sure that this parameter will contain the actual variant name now matter whether the program is executed in background or foreground.

when you run the program in background using SM37 the dynamic varint will get created.
You might have storing the variant in the custom table.
First you maintain the entry for the particular vairant in the custom table.
Then you run the program in background using TCode- SM36 for the particular variant.
The particular fields for the variant will get maodified in th custom table.

When you select the values in rows, then by default that will apper in the default area. But coming to theVariables there is no difference where the variable is...

Default Value in Formula Variable - Inconsistent behaviour

Hi,
I am facing a very strange issue in a formula variable.
I had created three formula variables with default values and the user (Power user who has the Bex access) was able to change the default value themselves for two of these variables.
Now he wants to change all the three, so I have tried to check the issue and changed all the three for testing purpose.
Now, he is unable to change any of them!!! Sad, now I cant even say that "You dont have the Auth to do so"
Any clue? Anyone has faced similar issue.
Any thoughts are highy welcome! Suddenly users wants to get this one URGENTLY, usually he used to access the report once in month. Now he wants to use the same once in half an hour
We are on BI 7.0 with SP 24

Dynamic variable in 11g rpd - character 'd' got appended to default value

Hi All,
We have recently upgraded to 11.1.1.6 version from obiee10g.
We are facing an issue with default initializer in the dynamic variables in the RPD.
For one of the dynamic variables XYZ_YEAR default value is '2013.0d' in 11g. In 10g for the same dynamic variable XYZ_YEAR default value is '2013'.
As we are using this variable on the 11g dashboard the following error has been thrown -- A numeric value was expected (received "2013.0d")
After the upgrade we are unable to do online changes to the RPD. That is another issue.
So, coming back to the variable issue. I have taken a offline copy of the rpd and changed the default value of the variable to '2013.0'.
And ported the offline rpd via EM. Initially, it seemed to be resolved. But, after sometime the dashboard got errored out with the same error.
I went back to check the online rpd and saw the dynamic variable's default value as '2013.0d'
I have tried making changes in offline rpd twice and ported the rpd via EM but the issue still persists.

An easiy solution to this issue is to change the SQL for the initialization block to look like this:
select cast(year as number (4,0)) from blah....
The ,0 in the number specifier truncates any decimal data, and OBIEE then sees it as an integer type instead of decimal. Sorry, I posted this answer in another thread, but there seem to be quite a few threads about this issue.

Define default value for Select List

Hello,
I have an Item on the page, which is a Select list
And I have a LOV associated with this item, which is a database query.
How do I make one of the values of this LOV to be a default value of this Select list?
I need this value to be displayed first, instead of a Null value.
