BEx WAD Template Lock

Hello,
Is it possible to make WAD template non editable or read only?
I wonder if I can lock the file from editing by others.
any help appreciated.

Hi,
Sure. You need to do that based on user authorizations. SAP Note 845673 talks about this and it is still valid for 7.0 version.
Also, you could think in a role based concept to avoid that certain users could edit others' templates.

The Bex report uses the Standard Template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN while it is executed.
So if your sure that the look and feel of all the Reports is going to remain same, you don't need to even attach all these Queries to Templates in WAD.
When you execute the BEx query, it would pick up the standard template and run it in portal.
But if you want to customize the Report Template:
1) You can change this standard template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN and customize it according to ur requrement in WAD.
2) Or you can create a copy of this standard template and change it as required. Then change the template in spro (transaction RSCUSTV27) to point to this Z template.

How to show a WAD template in Portal

How can i show a WAD report (WAD template) in Portal. what are the steps need to followed.
Like for Bex Application Iview we create it by using a Query String(combination of infocube name and Query name), like wise what should be done from Portal end to get a WAD template in to portal as Iview.

Regarding your issue your template is not active.
In the first place you need to check if the template is activated in the backend BW system.
After activated and launch it from the backend system. Once the BW template is
active, kindly launch the template from the backend system, please try
to launch the template in browser version as we can determine the URL
being launched. If you're able to succesfully launch the template from
the backend and still you're encountering an error while testing it from
the iview. Then it should be a problem with the system object configured
for the iview. There is a need to check if the system alias SAP_BW is
properly configured to the destination BI content system.
Please refer the note:
1048857 - Activating the default Web templates
In RS_TEMPLATE_MAINTAIN_70 you can choose the version of the
template to be displayed ("A" per default).
Please compare and attach the A- and D-version of 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN.
If the activation from business content was successful, the versions
are equal. I assume, that they are not equal.
If they are different it means that the activation was not successful.
Another indicator would be, that the activation only takes one or two
seconds. Normally it takes several seconds (up to a few minutes).
As mentioned in note 1048857 it might happen that the checkboxes, to
mark the objects for activation, are not checked and therefore nothing
is activated. For this case note 1070452 is mentioned, which is
available in english since today: If the checkboxes are not checked
and you are unable to do that manually, please use the context menu
on the object on top to select all objects below. The activate the
objects again ( > how long does it take, A- and D- version are the
same afterwards ?)

Error While executing WAD Template

Hi BW Experts,
I am working on BI7.0
I am getting following error, when I am trying to execute
WAD Template through portal.
Portal Runtime Error
An exception occurred while processing a request for :
iView : N/A

Hi maruthi,
It seems that you dont have the access to the portal, try to login using another userid(or u can use admin's) and PW, also see this portal address included in default IP Addresses.(Tools->Internetoptions->Connections-> Lansettings->advanced.

Error in WAD Template when no data.

I'm working with BW 7 SP 15
I have a query that has the characteristic 0FISPER in the Columns side, above the key figures, so the query displays the data per month.
The problem is when I include this query into a WAD Template and I set the property "new lines" to 1, when this template is executed and the result is empty the following error appears (only when there're no data to display and only when 0FISPER is above key figures, when I put 0FISPER on rows side, It does it correctly):

Hi Yolanda,
it´s as you already figured out - 0FISCPER is the problem.
When you want to create new lines, there can not be a dynamic characteristic in the columns. Each column has to be defined with single values.
Try to create restricted key figures for the periods you need to show.

Are you getting Blank Page while executing the web Template ???
Then the problem might caused by some outdated iView portal content.
Deploy Supportdesk tool as per note 937697 and see if RED signals are there, if you find any then make sure you clear those
RED signals by using remidies provided in the solution part on the same support desk tool.
Make sure the Supportdesk tool signals are GREEN.

BEX WAD 7.0: Chart Takes Long Time to Display in Portal - Query runs FAST

I have a BEx WAD 7.0 template which contains 3 column charts (each with it's own seperate DataProvider/Query). When the page loads...two of the charts show up right away, but one of them takes almost a minute to display on the screen (I thought it was missing at first).
I ran all three queries in the BEx Query Analyzer (including the one for the chart that takes forever to load) and they all complete within 3 seconds of hitting "Execute." So I don't believe it is the query causing this issue.
The chart that doesn't show up right away does have more data to display than the other two...but I have queries/charts on other web templates that contain 3-times the data of this one and show up fine when executed in the portal.
Anyone else having this issue or have an idea on how I can optimize the WAD charts and/or find out what is causing this issue? Again...the query that fuels this chart completes its execution in about 3-4 seconds.

have you already checked how much time the IGS consumes when creating the charts?
Run TA SIGS and check the statistics values.

Is there a way to apply changes in default WAD template to KM Bookmarks?

Hi gurus.
WE ran into the following issue. We have bunch of portal favorites and km bookmarks saved by the users from our BEx Web Analyzer reports. Our Bex Web utilizes a default template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN (renamed to ZZ..).
We have made some customizations to the default template. New queries show the changes, however km bookmarks and favorites saved with an old version of a template still show the old look of the WAD template.
Is there a way to somehow update km bookmarks and portal favorites to reflect the changes in the default template?

This is common issue to customized 0analysis_pattern templates in BI...
Use program - RSWR_BOOKMARK_ADJUST
Select your customized web template..
Web item to be removed - Specify the web item that you changed..
New web items should automatically appear...
Try this program on few affected bookmarks first and then run it wide across without bookmark selection. At one of my clients I adjust 200k such bookmarks.
Use with caution....test properly before you do...You dont want large number of bookmarks becoming useless...

Remove Hirarchy validity in WAD Template

I my query in the WAD is the organizational unit with hirarchy. Here, the validity of which is shown as attribute. The validity will not be displayed. In Bex analyzer Excel Workbook can this be removed.
How can I remove this in the WAD?

WAD Templates - Dynamic Tabs !?

Hello BEx Experts,
I´m looking for a smart solution to switch the visability of several TAB´s in my WAD Template according to variable values.
Example:
we start our templates from an own developed monitor (bsp page) and call the WAD templates for several companies (0COMPANY). for every company we call the same template. that template includes ten TAB´s. and there starts our problem, because we would fading out some TAB´s for some companies. And we don´t want to create diffrent templates for all companies.
Any ideas?

thx for your reply, but both solutions doesn´t work.
1. It isn´t possible to set the TABPANEL visible / invisible, because there is no selectable object for the TAB. You could select the TABCONTAINER, but it isn´t possible to select a special TAB to set visible or invisible.
2. I don´t understand the solution with authorization customizing, because all users have the same authorization and the visibility of the TAB should depend on the companyselection.
However, we solved the issue with JavaScript. So it´s possible to set the TAB caption to invisible in reference to the selected company and so the tabpanal will be minimized.

Publish WAD Template

Hi
i am unable to publish a wad template to the portal. In WAD when i click on Publish - to Portal, i am getting the "Export to Portal Content Directory (PCD) as iView". I click on Folder Selection, and in the "select a Folder" dialog box, i select a folder and i click on "Transfer" button. but nothing happens. It doesnt even give error message.
How can i publish the Template to the portal? Do i need to do some settings?

Thanks for your response, yes we are missing the security roles in BI system, instead of getting those access to me, I given content admin access to BW developer and they published the BEx reports.

How to add a URL link to a WAD template

Hi,
the requirement is to have a kind of button in a WAD template
that opens a document in a new browser window.
(The document actually contains an extensive help for the application.
It shall be stored in the portal CM and we have the URL for that)
Any suggestions fr a simple solution?
P.S.
- A single document might be an option as well, however than we would have to attach the document to an BW object and it seems not to open directly after the call
- A button group item that starts a script item?

WAD template issue:Change Font Size of Tab page in a tab strip container

Hi Gurus,
Is it possible to change the font size and face of a "tab" in a tabstip container.
For example: I have a Tab strip container with 3 tabs:
 Tab1 : North Region
 Tab2: South Region
 Tab3: Central Region.
When we name the tabs as above, it displays in a default font size and font face in the output while executing the WAD template. I want to increase the font size of say " North Region" Tab so that it appears bigger.
Can some one guide me as to how this can be achieved.

Link from InfoView to WAD template

Hi everybody,
Im trying to create a link from infoview to a WAD template, but when I insert the URL in infoView it gets stuck in a loading loop.
Is it possible to create a link from InfoView to a WAD template? Or is it possible force the link to open in a new window?

Hi,
openDocument is not an option because im not trying to create a link to a document inside infoview.
WAD is a SAP frontend BI tool. Im trying to create link in InfoView to a Web Application Designer template. Actually my question could be paraphrased to: How to load a BEx query into a html Frame? (The problem is the same)
As the domains of InfoView and of the SAP portal (where the template will be displayed) are different, the loading process get stuck in a loop. I've heard the solution might lay on [Domain Relaxing|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/28/7c383f717b5f03e10000000a114084/frameset.htm].
Has anybody implemented a workaround for this?
