BI Publisher report based on VO (View Objects)

Hi,
I would like to know, can we generate BI Publiher report based on VO (view Objects ). Actually we are creating VOs for ADF and want to know if that can be used for generting BIP report.
Thank,s
Niraj

Hi Niraj
Yes, you can, there is a method on the VO to get the data from it in an XML format. Then use our APIs >> documentation to format it with a template.

  • How to create ADF UI based on polymorphic view objects

    Hi,
    I'm using JDeveloper build JDEVADF_11.1.1.3.PS2_GENERIC_100408.2356.5660. I created a simple application based on Steve's example #10 [url http://blogs.oracle.com/smuenchadf/examples/]ViewRow and EntityObject Polymorphism.
    I added a men-only attribute "Age" to the "Men" VO and filled it with an arbitrary value in MenRowImpl.java:
    public String getAge() {
         return (String) "45";//getAttributeInternal(AGE);
    }Running the TestModule works perfectly - a row of type "Men" displays the "Age" attribute whereas a row of type "Women" doesn't.
    Afterwards, I setup an ADF ViewController Project and created a JSPX with a read-only form based on the "People" datacontrol with navigation buttons. Running that page always shows the same set of attributes independent of the row type. That's expected behaviour because the binding is defined at design time.
    So my question is: can I somehow achieve the same behaviour for polymorphic VOs as the business component tester shows?
    Kind regards,
    Markus

    Andrejus' example shows how to calculate different values for the same attribute based on overridden view objects. That's not exactly what I'm looking for. I need to display a (at least partly) different set of attributes that changes while the user scrolls through the records of the result set.

  • Can I pass parameters from a dashboard via a dashboard prompt and presentation variable to publisher report based on a data model with select statements in OBIEE 11g ?

    I have a publisher 11g (v 11.1.1.7)  report with a single parameter. The report is based on a data model not a subject area.  I created a dashboard put a dashboard prompt and link to the report in separate section on the same page.  The dashboard prompt sets a presentation variable named the same as the parameter in the report.
    The problem was when I created the dashboard prompt, it forced me to select a subject area which I did (though did not want to) and then I created both a column and variable prompts. But clicking on the
    report link completely ignored the value that I thought would be passed in the presentation variable to the report.
    Side note :  My report uses a pdf template for its layout where I have mapped the columns names from my data model to the form fields on the pdf form.  I noticed that if I create a publisher report based on a subject area, then I do not have the choice to choose a PDF as a template type for my layout.  (I only see BI Publisher Template as a choice).
    I see some documentation online that suggest it could be done in 10g.
    Thanks
    M. Jamal

    Ok,
    I just tried that and it still doesn't pass anything to the prompt.
    I changed the prompt to an edit field and I made the following weblink but when i click the link from an account it doesn't put anything in the prompt and all data for all accounts is shown.
    This is the URL maybe I messed something up...

  • Creating a dynamic Selection List based on a View Object

    Hello,
    I'm new to JDeveloper and I would like to create a JSP Page with dynamic Selection List based on a runtime query or based on a view object (BC4J). The selection made by an user should serve another dynamic query with the necessary parameters that I built using createViewObjectFromQueryStmt(). By now I tried this using the InputSelectLOV from the Component Palette in JDeveloper. But without success. By the way: the selection list is not very large (5 values), so it's not necessary to have a form finding the desired value.
    Maybe someone had experience about creating this already. Please give me a tip or a little example.
    Thanks.

  • How to create LOV not based on a View Object attribute?

    Hi,
    I am creating a handed-made search form and I want to create an af:inputListOfValues.
    I have :
    - a read-only-view-object to get the LOV values from BD.
    - af:inputListOfValues tag (droped from Component Palette).
    How can I create the listOfValuesModel in Bindings layer? (the inputListOfValues is not based on a View Object attribute).

    Sorry, I think I am not very clear in my posts.
    My requirement is to create a LOV but I have no ViewObject. I just want an input (not based on a view object attribute), alone, but with a LOV (where lov's datas are get from a view object).
    In a "normal" LOV I would have something like this :
    in jsff :
    <af:inputListOfValues id="departmentIdId"
                                popupTitle="Search and Select: #{bindings.DepartmentId.hints.label}"
                                value="#{bindings.DepartmentId.inputValue}"
                                label="#{bindings.DepartmentId.hints.label}"
                                model="#{bindings.DepartmentId.listOfValuesModel}"
                                required="#{bindings.DepartmentId.hints.mandatory}"
                                columns="#{bindings.DepartmentId.hints.displayWidth}"
                                shortDesc="#{bindings.DepartmentId.hints.tooltip}">
            <f:validator binding="#{bindings.DepartmentId.validator}"/>
            <af:convertNumber groupingUsed="false"
                              pattern="#{bindings.DepartmentId.format}"/>
          </af:inputListOfValues>in pageDef :
    <listOfValues StaticList="false" IterBinding="EmployeesView1Iterator"
                      Uses="LOV_DepartmentId" id="DepartmentId"/>in model layer : a view object (EmployeeView) with view accessor and LOV based attribute, and a read only view object (DepartmentRVO) to get datas for the LOV.
    But in my case I have no ViewObject, so I don't know how to create the listOfValuesModel in fragment pageDef.
    I have :
    <af:inputListOfValues label="Label 1"
                                    popupTitle="Search and Result Dialog"
                                    id="ilov1" model="here I want to point to a listOfValuesModel but I don't know how to create it"/>in pageDef : the listOfValuesModel but I don't know how to create it.
    in model layer : just a read only view object (like DepartmentRVO), to get the datas for the LOV.

  • Report based on a view

    Hi,
    On my page I have a select list with submit (--> computes an application item AI_OEFID) and I have a "form with report" based on a view.
    In my Region Source I have added a where condition: where "EMPID" = :AI_OEFID.
    When I select an employee in the select list the report only shows data of the selected "EMPID", which is fine.
    The "null display value" of my LOV is "Choose employee..."
    When I select "Choose employee..." the report shows "no data", BUT at that moment I want all my employees shown in the report.
    So, I tried the following: I changed my where condition: where "EMPID" IN (:AI_OEFID) and I created another (conditional: when value of LOV = -1) Page Processing computation which computes my application item AI_OEFID with the result of a SQL query: select EMPID from <<VIEW>>.
    When I select "Choose employee..." the report shows only my first EMPID.
    How can I show all my employees in the report when I select the "null value" of my LOV ?
    Thanx,
    Frederik.

    You seem a little grumpy. Yes, it has acurred to me that no one knows the solution. And no, I have not called tech support yet as I have been distracted lately and spending an hour on the phone trouble shooting is an hour I could be studying. Its much easier to "bump" this thread and hope someone with a suggest will chime in.
    Anyway, please dont just tell me to delete something without giving me an idea of what Im deleting. I have a feeling that this login.keychain deletion will cause me to loose the information already stored. Is this the truth?

  • Report Based on SQL view not pulling in all parameters

    Post Author: ronhawker

    I based a report on a SQL view below:SELECT     TOP (100) PERCENT CorpDirectory.Position, CorpDirectory.PhoneDirect, CorpDirectory.Email, CorpDirectory.Store, CorpDirectory.Name,                       CorpDirectory.PhoneFaxWave, CorpDirectory.Department, Store.StoreName, Store.StoreStreetAddress, Store.StoreCity, Store.StoreState,                       Store.StoreZip, Store.StorePhone, CorpDirectory.DisplayOrderFROM         dbo.CorpDirectory AS CorpDirectory INNER JOIN                      dbo.Store AS Store ON CorpDirectory.Store = Store.StoreORDER BY CorpDirectory.Store, CorpDirectory.Department, CorpDirectory.DisplayOrder, CorpDirectory.Name When the report was created the order by sequence only brought in the first parameter of CorpDirectory.Store. It seemed to ignore the other three order by parameters. I am running 10.2 is VS2005.

    Sharmila,
    Thanks for your response. Maybe I wasn't clear enough in my previous statement. I will give an example of what I am trying to accomplish.
    Let's say I have 2 date fields(SUBMITDATE,COMPLETEDATE) in a table TABLE A
    I want to calculate a field called CYCLETIME with the following conditions:
    If COMPLTEDATE is NULL, then CYCLETIME = SYSDATE-SUBMITDATE
    IF COMPLTEEDATE is not null, then CYCLETIME = COMPLTEEDATE-SUBMITDATE
    Would appreciate any help.
    Thanks
    Dev
    Hi,
    You can do the calculation in the sql query itself. Here is an example which shows the sum of salaray for each department in the scott.emp table.
    select deptno,sum(sal) sal
    from scott.emp
    group by deptno
    Thanks,
    Sharmila

  • Creating a Report based on different schema objects

    Hi,
    I have a situation in creating Reports for my database performance.
    Let me explain my requirment.
    There are 2 schemas in my database called X, Y
    X owns all the performance related data. But Y has read access on X objects.
    Now in APEX I have a developer DEV1 is mapped to database schema Y through WS1.
    I cannot map DEV1 to database schema X for security reasons.
    When I am trying to create a report as DEV1, it is allowing me to create based on the objects owned by schema Y.
    However it is not allowing me to create a report based on objects owned by X though Y has SELECT privileges on X's objects.
    Can any one help in this?

    This is the query which I am using to build a report
    SELECT

  • Dynamically subsetting a LOV based on a View Object

    Hi,
    Hoping you guys can help out. I am having issues with Partial Page Refresh and Dynamically
    STATUS table ( STATUS_ID NUMBER, STATUS_NAME VARCHAR2(10)) with values 1 = Open, 2 = Won, 3 = Lost
    ACTIVITIES ( ACTIVITY_ID NUMBER, ACTIVITY_NAME VARCHAR2(20), STATUS_ID NUMBER)
    The list of permissible activities is dependent on the value of the Status Id and both are shown as LOV's in the same popup/dialog.
    I've created EO's and VO's for both tables. I've created a query based view object called voPermissableActivities with sql "select * from activities act where act.status_id = :pStatusId " and have set up the bind variables, etc.
    Against the Activities VO I created a LOV for the ActivityId using the voPermissableActivities.
    I've set the autosubmit property of the Status Id LOV to true and created a ValueChangeListener for the Status LOV in the backing bean. I've also set the partialRefresh property of the Opportunity LOV to point to the Status LOV
    In the StatusChange listener I
    1. get the a DCIteratorBinding which points to the view iterator underpinning the two LOV's
    2. using the iterator I get the value of the Status LOV
    3. I then grab a reference to the ViewObject for voPermissableActivities and set the bind variable pStatusId to reflect the value of the Status LOV using the following code snippet
    ViewRowSetImpl vOppRSI = (ViewRowSetImpl) currentRow.getAttribute ( "voAccountOpportunity1");
    ViewObject voOpportunities = vOppRSI.getViewObject();
    voOpportunities.setNamedWhereClauseParam("StatusId", currentRow.getAttribute("StatusId"));
    System.out.println ( "Est. Row Count : "+voOpportunities.getEstimatedRowCount());
    voOpportunities.executeQuery();
    System.out.println ( "VO Query: "+voOpportunities.getQuery());
    I've got a tonne of debugging code in the method and can see the server log accurately reflecting changes at the UI layer - so I know it's working properly - also the estimatedRowCount returns values I would expect to see. However, the values in the LOV based on the voPermissableActivities view are not changing. So, I'm guessing that the LOV does not properly get refreshed !? or at least, the ADF framework does not automatically refresh it. So, I then found the following snippet to pogrammetically refresh the LOV -
    System.out.println ( "Getting ADF Context");
    AdfFacesContext adfFacesContext = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    System.out.println ( "Calling PPR") ;
    adfFacesContext.addPartialTarget(getLovOpportunityId());
    System.out.println ( "after calling ppr");
    Any ideas? This is driving me crazy !!!

    Cheers Frank,
    That works fine where I have a discrete and manageably small set of potential values - in the snippet I included there were 3 potential values - and it is feasible to prepare three VO's to drive the LOV. However, in the PRODUCTION version of what I'm trying to do I may have many more.
    Any other thoughts?
    One approach I wanted to explore was dynamically creating the VO at run time. Would that work?

  • Interactive report based on complex view

    firefox 24 , apex 4.0 , db11gxe ,
    hi all,
    i created an interactive report with this code :
      select c.client_id , c.client_name , c.age , c.email , c.phone ,
    p.payment_date , sum(p.amount) "summary"
    from clients c , payments p
    where c.client_id = p.client_id
    group by c.client_id , c.client_name , c.age , c.email , c.phone ,
    p.payment_date;
    but the problem was i could not delete any of the rows of the report , because there was no checkbox existed , so i created one with "apex_application.checkbox" , and i have got it now , but
    i still can not delete any rows ,
    i created a button to submit the page , and a process with this code
    FOR i in 1..APEX_APPLICATION.G_F01.count
    LOOP
       DELETE FROM cp
       WHERE client_id = APEX_APPLICATION.G_F01(i);
    END LOOP;
    and sure nothing was deleted , and i am facing this error

    What is the object "CP" ?
    It sounds like it is a view. If it's the same you've used for the IR, then check out "key preserved views"

  • Reports based on SQL view contain no data. Reports based on tables work just fine

    When we load a report into Crystal reports server that is based on a SQL view the report will run but will contain no data. A report that pulls data from SQL tables works just fine. Running the crystal report on standalone crystal reports works just fine.
    I am completely lost on this one. If you have any ideas please send them my way.

    Are you missing an ODBC / TNS entry on your CMS (or report processing, if clustered env) server?  This could definately be an issue if the report will run locally within CR client, but not when hosted on the enterprise environment.  Another test would be to run the report from CR client ON the CRS / BOE server..

  • Issue filtering a report (based on narrative view) with a dashboard prompt.

    I used HTML and java-script codes in narrative view to solve the issue of "linking different reports on selecting values from a drop-down". A new issue has cropped up due to that implementation. The issue is that i can't attach a dashboard prompt to such a report. This means, when i put this report on a dashboard page with a dashboard prompt to help filter the report, the report does not gets filtered (it does not seems to be connected to the dashboard prompt).
    Has anyone faced this issue before? If yes, please let me know how to tackle it at the earliest.

  • How to have rownum in a report based on a view

    How to use rownum in a report or tabular form?
    I wanted to number the rows in a report. The most obvious way would be just stick
    rownum in there. There is a view in a database1. It is merely select a,b,c from various
    things joined together and order by pkey1.
    Apex is in database2 so I have to create a view there across the link
    like:
    create or replace view SOME_VIEW as
    select * from OTHER_VIEW@SOMELINK
    alter view SOME_VIEW add constraint PK_SOME_VIEW
    PRIMARY KEY (pkey1)
    DISABLE NOVALIDATE;
    The problem is if I try to include rownum in the query in the report I always get:
    failed to parse SQL query:
    ORA-01446: cannot select ROWID from, or sample, a view with DISTINCT, GROUP BY, etc.
    There's no rowid, it knows that the primary key is Pkey1 so what is the problem?
    I know it's rownum that it hates. Maybe I can just number these things some other
    way. However it'd be good to figure out what it is griping about.
    Anyone know?

    thanks!
    Actually I made a mistake in testing. And it does work to do this:
    in database1:
    create or replace view VIEW1 as
    select
    rownum "SEQ", etc.
    in database2:
    create view VIEW2 as select * from VIEW1@mylink
    How I screwed up testing that I don't know. I was calling the column NUM before....
    this is good because you can create a report about the next so many of something, such as how many of
    the next batch of mailings have address problems? For that you need to know in what order it will be done and
    when to quit.
    But I'm sure I will use the report rownum thing also. thanks very much.

    You can't just simply create a new application module like that:
    SimuladorAppImpl app = new SimuladorAppImpl();This will not work!
    An other thing to mention is that you don't push Row objects from the view controller to the server side (this breaks the MVC paradigm).
    If you have to create a new row, you can create a method in your application module and call this method either with a number of attributes or a POJO object holding the values.
    Remember too that your new row normally have a primary key attribute which you have to fill with a distinct value for each row.
    To get the application module from within a backing bean you can look at ADFUtils.getApplicationModuleForDataControl("YourAppModuleDataControl");Search the FOD application for the ADFUtils class or this forum.
